If you're looking to make a reservation keep looking somewhere else. Emailed back and forth for a reservation (because reservations cannot be made through the phone for some reason) and all sudden all communication gets dropped never received any word about the reservation whether they had any opening or not to keep looking elsewhere. Very disappointed on the customer service. My mother was looking forward to celebrate her birthday there. Big let down. I've been there before as walk-in wine is pretty decent though. read more

Have returned many times since first reviewed and beautiful place and good wine. From previous review food trucks are awesome. But our evening did not end well last night as ONE HOUR prior to closing a middle aged man who works there came under the pavilion and shouted so loudly to get our attention that all stopped talking. He yelled to all " What time is closing?" until someone answered 8:30 and exactly at 8:30 he came back to yell it out loud again. Honestly, he might as well have told us at 7:30 that he wanted to go home on time! And at 8:30 on the dot again when he yelled everyone felt like we were just being yelled at as a nuisance to get out of the winery. I have been there before when the workers have nicely come around and gently reminded everyone that it is 830 as people are there to have fun and chat and lose track of time. I've never seen anyone do anything but politely get up and leave when politely reminded. He might as well have yelled " Get out". This really put a damper on the night. There are plenty of other places to go to in the area that don't treat their patrons like this who are spending a good deal of money on their food and wine. read more

This is an absolutely beautiful vineyard, but our visit was ruined by the table next to us. We were sitting in a gorgeous covered patio with a spectacular view and the girls next to us were absolutely drunk and threw up all over their table and the ground. It was truly disgusting to watch. My family and I came because we received great recommendations about this vineyard and we were stunned by what we saw. We ordered wine flights and cheese boards and we were so disgusted we could barely eat. We were next to someone who was vomiting all over the ground for about 30 minutes and the employees were trying to get them to leave but the event took a very long time and it ruined the entire ambiance for us. I was truly appalled that this behavior was allowed and tolerated for so long. The wine flight was delicious and the scenery was lovely but I was extremely disappointed that the staff did not try to apologize or make up for this experience in any way when we addressed our complaints. This is as not what we expected of a family friendly vineyard. read more

This is by far the best wine I've had in the DMV area. Its impressive for a newer winery. The location was easy to get to and there was plenty of seating options and space. Also they allow dogs which was a plus! They have a good snack selection and food trucks. I'd recommend making a reservation. My only complaint was the wind, all of the seating is at the top of a small hill overlooking a field so the wind was insane. It knocked over our glasses spilling wine and made it difficult to just have a conversation. Hopefully it was just the weather that day! read more

Windridge is absolutely beautiful! We received such kind and caring assistance with planning a birthday event at Windridge. Lori was absolutely amazing! She helped schedule our event and really worked to accommodate our party. She addressed our questions and replied to messages immediately. We had to reschedule the event 3 times because of the weather. Lori was so very patient, understanding, compassionate, and kind. She worked hard to help make our event super special. While we were having our event, she and the staff were extremely accommodating, hospitable and attentive. I definitely recommend Windridge Vineyards! read more

Hi fellow parents - fyi you are absolutely not welcome here, if you got kids in tow! We've been constantly shamed for kids playing around while not disturbing other guests. Our kids have been repeatedly told to calm down, even as we closely monitoring them. Staff tried to lecture kids without talking to parents first. Very rude. Prices online were very different than in person and significantly more. Love that dogs are allowed, but people did not pick up after them at all! Honestly noticed that based on how you were dressed, you were treated differently. Everything is based on making a prior reservation, even if no one else is there (you should be able to sit by fire up until maybe 30 minutes before reservation shows). Food truck doesn't show up until 1, which is not what we were originally told. Charcuterie board had to have crackers/bread ordered separately. Good wine, at least. Two stars, for wine, food, and kind lady with the dog treats. read more

Great winery. We loved the views and it was very spacious. I also love how close this is to Bethesda. Our only negative (which is a positive for some) is thaT this winery is not young kid friendly. When you arrive there is a sign to keep kids within arms reach. We were also told no bubbles or balls. I understand, but if you are looking for a kid friendly winery, this isn't the best place. And if you are looking for a kid free winery, def come here. read more

Since you walked in, the hostess just pointed at the table and did not even give any instructions about where to order our wine (first time at the winery) One of the staff members started yelling at my family because they went a little too far inside the vines.. and by little I mean 3 steps in. Understandable and I apologized. But saying 'This is where we make our money' while yelling at us it really isnt the way to treat anyone. read more

I've been to quite a few wineries in the area and this was my first poor experience. I made a reservation for 5pm (their last available time slot) on the patio with hopes that my group and I would have a sunset experience. Per the email I received with my reservation confirmation: The lawn (including picnic tables and Adirondack chair reservations) will close at Sunset on Saturdays and Sundays. The pavilion, tasting room, and patio will close at 8 pm. However this was NOT the case. It was 5:34pm when we went to the pavilion to order our flights and we were told that after 5:30pm they only sell bottles to-go! Which was not written anywhere at the venue, online, or in the multiple emails I received. They shouldn't even have 5pm reservation slots if their venue closes at 6pm, you don't even get 2 hours to enjoy yourself. Even if the hostess said "reminder we close at 6" when we arrived would've been nice, instead we were completely blindsided. This was extremely disappointing because we drove an hour for this winery and all we were able to get were tacos from the food truck and a bottle to-go. The hostesses were also very rude and looked too young to even work at a winery, not an accommodating staff at all. Two stars because the manager allowed us flights after this major miscommunication on Windridge's part and the venue was aesthetically pleasing. read more

Booked a tour of the vineyard, which was charming and informative. We sipped a glass of wine while the owner told us about the growing process, showed us the grapes, and gave the story of the vineyard--that was a great personal touch! We stayed after the tour and tried some of the wines. The Portrayal and the Chambourcin were our favorites! The staff was very friendly and the outdoor tasting areas are well kept, comfortable, and nicely distanced from others. Overall a delightful experience, and we can't wait to go back once the new tasting room is open! Also, their website is set up nicely and makes it easy to know what you're signing up for when you book a tour, tasting, covered/uncovered patio seat, food truck schedule, etc., which we appreciated! read more

Not a bad winery in Montgomery County! The wines they have are very palatable and my favorite is the rosé, which has nice crisp notes of strawberry and is a great drink for the upcoming warm months if paired with some ice and sparkling soda. The Chambourcin is a great red wine if you're not too fond of reds. It is a buttery yet fruity blend and not as strong as their Seneca Red Blend. The Chardonnay did not stand out to me at all....it just tasted like a plain table white. I know they are new (open since a July 2019) but I do wish that they offered more than just 4 wines for $14 in their tasting menu....in Virginia wine country that's just considered highway robbery. The space indoors is very small but there is plenty of seating and they keep it insulated and warm in the winter months. The indoor pavilion currently is dog friendly which is nice but if you are coming there on a crowded day I suggest you leave the dogs at home. The winery faces the main road and to me that's a risky area for a dog to be in especially if a leash flies out of your hand. We came in on a Friday night for their sunset appreciation event where they're open until 9pm and it was very quiet and pleasant. I will say, they definitely need to clean up the bar area where tasting transactions occur... it was quite a mess when I was there....from open food to cardboard boxes to a bunch of odds and ends. It's a nice convenient winery for anyone that just wants a convenient quick stop in Montgomery County and is too lazy to drive to Loudon where all the real Virginia wineries are. For some reason I've found that the soil in Maryland doesn't grow as good grapes as Virginia does for wines. However, this location is as close as it gets to a winery experience in Montgomery County. Definitely check it out, even if you're just stopping by! read more

The Seneca is probably the most robust red we've had at a winery in this area. Tasting room opening in 2020 but it's still worth a visit before then as the solar pavilion is totally fine. read more

Overall, a pleasant experience, tasty wines, and attentive staff. This winery is almost a hidden gem and I look forward to visiting again and trying the new tasting room. Only a 40min drive from DC/Arlington, makes it an easy destination and good alternative to VA wineries, which can be further away. I appreciated the easy reservation process and the offer to reverse varying setting options; you can chose between reserving Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, or tables in a covered area. It's also good to have shaded and non-shaded options, as well as different types of seating. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and tables were spread out (to keep social distance) and seemed the staff was doing a good job of arranging parties to ensure distance. All wines I tasted were tasty for a hot summer day and worth trying. Of the whites, the Riesling and portrayal were my favorite. Both offered dry, crips, and refreshing tones. The rosé was good and tasty too. Prices, on the other hand, seemed to be a bit on the higher end. Bottles averaged $29, which seemed comparable to other wineries, but the flights option was not a good value given the price. Hopefully, when COVID settles downs and they go back to normal operations, there will be a more traditional tasting alternative that is more economical. In the end, it is worth visiting for a lovely afternoon with good wines and good vibes. read more

On my first visit last year, we had a lovely time. Lots of visitors, lots of families and dogs, everyone spending a sunny afternoon enjoying the spacious grounds and beautiful views. Today, what a difference, I can't remember a worse hospitality experience anywhere. On my recommendation, my family invited another family with their kids to have lunch here after apple picking. It ended in tears when our four kids, who were happily playing far from anyone else and supervised by the dads, were told it was venue policy that they had to sit at their own table and be quiet. WOW. Really? The dads dutifully shepherded the kids back to the table, one of them in tears and the others confused and hungry since we hadn't even eaten, as we gathered up our things to leave. I'm giving two stars instead of one only because the manager who had done this saw us getting ready to leave and came over to apologize, saying our kids had been fine, nobody had complained, it was just that they had a private party setting up there in a few minutes and they had to clear the area and she didn't mean to upset the kids. Well, too late. She admitted she'd handled it poorly but did say the owner was very clear on policy that the environment should be kept quiet with kids in arms length of their parents for the enjoyment of all the guests. She even pointed out a sign at the front gate they felt the need to post. Clearly we aren't the only ones whose kids mistook the big open fields, picnic tables, and campfire Adirondack chairs as an invitation to frolic in nature. The first time we came, our kids had joined others who were happily rolling down hills while adults of all ages looking on smiling, dogs had wagged tails and it felt like one big upscale picnic. This time I left embarrassed to have brought friends here and subjected their kids to such treatment. What a ridiculous way to treat children, and what a waste of a venue. read more

Windridge Vineyards is a new destination that will become my retreat from the pressures of DC - the 40 minute drive starts west of 270 on Darnestown Road. Suburbia changes over to peaceful views of Maryland horse farms and croplands. When you arrive, you take in the pleasing Tasting Room and Production Building perched on the hill. Terraced grass slopes flank the west side providing a variety of outdoor seating options perfect for afternoon hours with friends as the sun sets behind the western hills. The hospitality of the hosts and staff is courteous and genuine - along with warm greetings from the Owners, who truly enjoy sharing their passion for wine making with guests! Add flavorful red and white wines with carefully selected cheeses for the makings of a great afternoon - and thoughts of new memories I want to make during future visits!! read more

Lovely place to relax and enjoy the view, the breeze, the wine, and not have to worry about social distancing. I went with my mom on a Wednesday afternoon and there were plenty of empty tables and places to sit. You can bring your own chairs as well. Tables are VERY far apart but there is still a nice festive but relaxing atmosphere. Kids welcome, dog friendly (we brought my shepherd). Lovely view in all directions. We did a white wine flight ($16) and a red wine flight ($18). Delicious. Really nice way to spend an afternoon! :) read more
