This vineyard is very conveniently located for those in Montgomery County who don't want to make the drive to Northern Virginia vineyards. There is a ton of space and it's easy to make a reservation online. Some of the wines are a bit pricey and comparably priced to wines in vineyards in Napa. However, all of them are good and it's great to have high quality wines produced locally! read more

I love love love this place!! It's so beautiful and the place is huge! They have a lot of tables set up and you can bring any food or drinks you want as long as it's non alcoholic! We reserved a table outdoors and it was perfect! It rained a little when we went but they helped us open up the umbrella and we were set! I will definitely come here again! The scenery is nice and on the weekends they even have food trucks come! We enjoyed our time here. The staff was friendly and accommodating and we were very happy we chose this place yo celebrate our friend's bday. I have already reserved for another day! So definitely give them a try! read more

As a reviewer before me said, Windridge is a local place with out of town feels. They're family-owned and have deep farming roots in Maryland, providing excellent wine and stunning views. My first visit here was absolute perfection. I love that you can easily book online and choose your preferred seating (indoors, covered patio, lawn, etc), with reminders texted the day of your visit. We learned upon arrival that once you're seated, you head inside to order and self serve and can explore the fridge for cheeses, snacks, etc. Tip: they DO allow outdoor snacks here, so come prepared with your own cheeseboard ingredients! We opted to try the red and white wine flights and loved the educational cards that came with 'em. Portrayal clocked in as our favorite, so we decided to get a bottle to enjoy and close out our evening. The weather was on our side and perfectly breezy, with sun peeking through. What a lovely place to see the sunset! We just visited for the first time with a group of friends this Veteran's Day. We were looking forward to the art exhibit and jazz night. We were also told that there would be a paella food truck. The music is something I am unfamiliar with. From a description of the musicians' website, "Djangolaya is a group of musicians in the DC Metro Area celebrating the musical styles that were pioneered by Django Reinhardt in Paris between the wars. Djangolaya is an acoustic jazz group with a international flair.  Part French cafe, part New Orleans jazz, part Latin nightclub, Djangolaya draws on a wide range of musical influences to present a unique blend of old and new sounds.  Whether at a bistro, a winery, or private event, we can provide music for dancing, dining or simply enjoying  good times with your friends." Unfortunately, I did not go into the tasting room where all the art was probably exhibited. I wish I had remembered to do that. The husband did go in to purchase a box of charcuterie ($26) which contained a variety of meats, cheeses, fruit, olives, and nuts. It was perfect for two and a great accompaniment to your wine. Since we are not drinkers, we did not sample the wine but our friends seemed to enjoy it. We were all eagerly awaiting the food truck but it never showed. There was quite a large amount of people there that evening. After looking at Windridge's website, we found out that a crepe truck was supposed to come so we were looking for that but it never showed. Our group ended up purchasing the charcuterie boxes as our meal. The winery is scenic with various types of seating. They encourage reservations but if you do come without one, just bring some chairs or blankets. You're permitted to bring outside food and there are picnic tables. There are many seating areas with fire pits on a chilly evening. There is also inside seating. The patio doors were wide open so there was plenty of air circulation if you choose inside seating. I give windridge a 4.8/5 stars This is a must visit place for anything in the Maryland area. I went with a work group and we did a tour of the facility and the vineyard and it was a lot of fun. We tasted sparkling wine, shambershome, Chardonnay, Bordeaux wines on the tour and it added to the fun overall experience. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions about harvesting and growing grapes - as well as the details of the operation and how the wine is fermented and stored. Along with fun tour opportunities there is a great indoor and outdoor sections with beautiful views and scenery. This vineyard was opened in 2020 and still has the new feel but they make you feel at home with exceptional service. Give it a shot! read more

I was thinking is the blanket to sit on? Are we having a picnic? Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Our reservation provided us with a spot on the pavilion, two 3 seat patio cushioned sofas facing each other and a chair at the end. In the middle was a beautiful fire to keep us warm. The indoor area is where you can order wine by the glass or bottle. You can purchase flights and light snacks, an assortment of cheese, charcuterie, crackers, and treats, in-house. Their website provides a calendar of rotating food trucks. The scenery is beautiful! You can reserve picnic tables, pavilion seating and chairs or have picnic and bring your on blankets. We ordered a bottle of Albarino 2021 (the 1st white on the menu). It was full bodied and clean and yes, I would recommend it. The pizza truck served light, thin crusted pizza, baked in 6 min. Yum! And yes, my friends brought their own cheese and crackers and snacks from Trader Joe's. It was a lovely evening. We arrived at 6pm and everything shut down by 8:30. read more

A beautiful vineyard right in Montgomery County! My best friend and I wanted to have a wine date and decided to try Windridge Vineyards. We used the waitlist feature on their site to try to get seating but no luck. When we arrived we were told we could sit inside the wine bar w/o a reservation and did. Throughout our time there we continued to see random folks grab seats in areas that we were told required reservations (quite a few tables were empty the entire night). We asked about the seats again and we're told by the host (didn't catch a name but she had purple hair) that they were booked the entire night. We ultimately went ahead and grabbed a patio seat like everyone one else but I'm subtracting a star for that reason. Beyond that, the views and wine were great! We both had flights (white and red) as well as a glass of the sparkling Rose. Another interesting feature is the kitchenette area with the pre-made charcuterie trays. Great options and pretty smart considering the pandemic. I'll definitely be back and hopefully we can have outdoor seating the entire time when we visit again. read more

My favorite Winery in the DC area. I've seen this place grow so much over the last couple of years and no surprise why--it has it all: truly great wine (the Seneca red is my favorite); beautiful views of the rolling hills (including Sugarloaf mountain in the distance) that would rival anything in Loudoun; ample outdoor seating (even when it's busy, there is enough space so that it never feels overwhelming); and classy but unpretentious ambiance. I've loved coming here for both special occasions and an impromptu casual drink. My only suggestion would be that they should have a permanent kitchen--right now, the food comes from food trucks (available only on certain days and at certain hours) and a small shop with snacks and charcuterie on the premises, but a small restaurant would really work here, to make sure that good food is always available. read more

Loved our time visiting Windridge Vineyards! It's less than an hour drive outside of DC and is family friendly fun for everyone. The wines are delicious! Especially the Portrayal. Wow. This might be my go to spring/summer white. The grounds are beautiful and everything was so CLEAN. Idk it's the only way I can describe it! Lol. Reservations are recommended for their seating areas. They have a heated enclosed patio as well as an outdoor patio with bistro seating and fire pits for larger groups. There is also ample lawn seating with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. They have rotating food truck offerings on a regular basis so check the website to see who's there when you plan to visit. They do serve snacks, charcuterie, etc but it's honestly cheaper to bring your own. This might be my new favorite winery in the area! read more

My favorite vineyard in MD! Whenever i go, i will reserve a table and it is always a smooth process. The reservations are for only 2 hrs so they may ask for the table back for the next group. There are areas where you can use on a first come first serve basis. Ive gone a few times and it is always a nice time. Their rose wine is my favorite, because its not too sweet or dry. I ABSOLUTELY love this winery!!! I was a bit skeptical at first ... a vineyard in Damascus?!?! When I tell you driving up to the property is breathe taking (open space/the greenery [great for grounding])!!! I recommend to reserve a table (two hour max) and 12pm is a perfect time to go. You can bring your own food, buy food from the food truck (check their calendar) or cheese/crackers from the winery. Customer service is top notch, servers come by your table to offer water and/or pick up your trash. Pet friendly for animal lovers. I purchased the white wine flight and it was delish - love that it comes with a description card for each drink. I was surprised that I really enjoyed their Rose' (I'm not a Rose' fan). Windridge has a solid number of wine options though many of food pairings were sold out. It's not stated on their site, but you can bring in your own food to nibble on. They also have a food truck if you get hungry which rotates each week or day. You can check their schedule to see the lineup. Be sure to make a reservation by Friday for the weekend on nice days or you won't get a spot. It gets busy when the weather is nice. It was a cold day when we went which was unfortunate because most of their inside seating was reserved, and they don't have heat lamps. We were able to go in after about 30-40 minutes which was good because our hands got cold. I recommend bringing a warm blanket or mittens if you're sitting outside during colder months The wine options vary from red and white and they have both bottle and by the glass. The ambience, service, rosé and charcuterie were all STELLAR. What a gem!! I've been meaning to come for years and now it's skyrocketed to my favorite vineyard in the area. First, the views and overall property is stunning. It feels so much like a getaway and I love a picturesque drinking space. Highly recommend going for the view alone. We had reservations at 4, but arrived closer to 3 and it wasn't a problem to switch us to the earlier time. We were debating between a flight and a bottle and went with the bottle. GREAT decision. The rose was crisp and stone fruit forward and probably some of the greatest wine(rosé specifically) that we all agreed we had had in this area. There is a build your own charcuterie station as well so we got some meat and cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, olives and crackers and really enjoyed the ease of it since it was too hot to keep food in our cars all day. We did get another bottle of rose and felt like the day was a WIN!! read more

My friends who were visiting out of town decided we wanted to do a vineyard and this was my choice. I am living in PG county so this wasn't a bad drive at all. It took me 45/50 mins to drive to this location. Usually they have a cut off for 2 hours, but we were enjoying ourselves and lost track of time. It was beautiful and the weather was perfect. We ordered 5 bottles of wine and we had a few favorites. I truly cannot recall but I believe it was the Riesling and another one but I cannot recall the name. We arrived on time and we were seated immediately (yes I made reservations). The reservations are open about 2 weeks prior to your scheduled date. Cava was on site this day so that was really cool. We took pictures, videos and made the best charcuterie board ever! We even received a compliment from a staff, Andrew. (I do hope that's his name) he was awesome. It was almost time to wrap this up and we were decided what time we would leave and another staff came over to us and mentioned he received a few complaints about us being loud? So we were a bit confused and thought this was absurd because we were there for a good time with zero complaints. We were a bit upset and went to the manager. I believe her name was Lori? She came over and she was very apologetic. She said she would get to the bottom of this because she notices the sense of entitlement when she is working. We were shocked by her response, but in a good way. She was absolutely our favorite and even though who ever complained tried to ruin our day Lori the manager made our day even better! I would recommend this winery everyone truly was really nice overall. The set up is also a super cute with a little pit, tables, and just blankets all around. The things I love.... Windridge is in my backyard. All the outdoor space and beautiful views. They're dog friendly. They feature some great food trucks. The wine is delicious, the white is my favorite. Reservations can be done online. The things I don't love.... Customer service is TERRIBLE. The website doesn't clearly indicate what the seating for the reservations you are making look like, or where they are located. The good outweigh the bad. But every single time I've come here, the employees have been extremely rude. The first time was regarding scheduling, their system was down so they couldn't confirm whether we had a reservation. Instead of apologizing and honoring my reservation, they instead acted like I was a walk in and couldn't guarantee me seating if it were to get busy. I specifically needed seating with a table. The second time, we had a reservation and were already at the table with food and bottles of wine. They needed to move us midway to accommodate another group who wanted two tables next to each other. Instead of kindly asking, they demanded we move and didn't even offer to help with everything we had to carry. So now when I go, I avoid contact with employees and let my party handle it. I have been wanting to check out this winery for some time. I'm glad I waited until they finished building their pavilion, which includes a tasting room. The winery is in Darnestown, which was only about 15 mins from my home. The scenery was beautiful and very tranquil. There e 4 of us that went that Saturday afternoon. We didn't make reservations, but brought our own chairs and found a great spot. They had two food trucks that day, which had great options. However, you are able to bring your own food and snacks, just no outside alcohol. Since I hadn't tried their wine, we got both the red and white wine flights. I wasn't a huge fan of their reds, but their resling and portrayal were good. If you're into sweet wines, then I'm not sure these wines would be appealing. However, I enjoyed Portrayal and purchased two bottles. Overall the atmosphere and environment was really nice, which I enjoyed. The view was beautiful, and it made it even better that is local. I'd like to first say that they do a great job with the current state of the pandemic in terms of social distancing and having the available resources to provide to customers. The one thing that bugged me was the two hour time limit. I understand they need to accommodate others and a time limit will keep the revolving door open but it put a sour taste in my mouth upon hearing that. Given the pandemic, no more than 6 people to a group. We went right at opening and was seated without a reservation. We liked the original seating however there was no umbrella to keep us and our wine shaded. Hence, why we asked to be seated in a more shaded area. The hosts were okay. They need customer service training and possibly training on how to greet people. The one girl was on the phone taking a reservation and told us to wait. Here is the kicker: she wasn't helping us so it just came off rude. Finally, the wine. We did a flight of reds and whites. The woman assisting us behind the bar was very kind and helpful. (Maybe they can teach the hosts a thing or two on customer service) we weren't a big fan of the wine but my tastebuds are different than yours so give it a shot :) I always give a business a second shot so I will visit again in the future. #YelpMDburbs read more

We had our first couples day out in over a year and this was the place to host it. I honestly cannot say enough about how exceptional the customer service is at this establishment. The wines are great. Our personal fav was the sparkling rose. They get busy, so be sure to make reservations in advance to have the best experience. Overall, this is a great vineyard but I do have one specific reason for writing this review. The open, scenic atmosphere is wonderful (especially in the warmer months) and it's a huge perk to be able to bring your dog. The wine is easy to drink, and the food trucks are always good options when they are present. The employees are generally very nice as well, however, one of them is the reason for this review. A few months ago I was there with a friend (just the two of us) on a very slow day for them, with almost no one else there. We sat in some lawn chairs and I waited for my friend to get their wine, then I went in for a glass myself. While I was reading the wine menu, I asked the man behind the counter, John, what his favorite wine at Windridge was. I typically ask my server for their favorite when I go out to eat or drink because sometimes it gives me an idea of what to get, or it sparks up a conversation about a good recommendation. But when I asked John what his favorite wine was, his response was "That really doesn't matter, does it?" Which I thought was pretty rude to say. I didn't know what to reply back, so I continued reading the menu. After seeing a "WV" next to some of the wines, I got curious as to what it meant. Having spent a few years of my life in West Virginia, I thought maybe it meant that some of the wines were made with grapes sourced from the state of WV. So I asked John another question, "What's that WV mean on some of these wines? Are they from West Virginia?" To which he replied by grimacing at me and saying "Windridge vineyards ?" Almost as if he was the one asking me, and it was extremely condescending. In all of my experiences with servers I have never once received such a rude and dismissive response when asking what their favorite was, and I was incredibly disappointed. Ironically, I myself work at a local winery and do the exact job he was doing at the time; serving customers at the bar. And I have to say, being in his position, I would NEVER talk to a customer that way. I still left a tip afterwards, which I regretted and will never do again if he serves me. Part of the job is making conversation, giving recommendations, and overall being the face of the winery, creating a positive environment that makes people want to come back. I don't place judgement on Windridge as a whole because of him, but I will legitimately never forget that awful experience and that is the reason this review isn't 5 stars. Lastly, when I went back to my friend and told them about it, they said he was completely fine and nice when serving them. Ergo, it's not that John was just having a bad day (which honestly wouldn't matter even if he was, it should never be the customer's problem), he just for some reason didn't like me. I genuinely hope he never serves me again and having a rude employee behind the bar will make people not want to come back, even if the view and the wine is great. read more

If you'd like to sit at a table you probably should make a reservation depending on the time of year. We went in early October however and were able to walk in and be seated. Dog friendly winery on a beautiful ridge with weekend (at least) food trucks! I usually find local reds to be undrinkable because they are too acidic for my tastes, but 2 of Windridges were actually good in my book! Those were the Chambourcin and the Encampment. Thumbs up. The Seneca did read acidic to me. Their whites were great too! We had the sparkling and the Reisling. You can reserve tables for 2 hour blocks and pay a bit more to be by a fire pit. We just moved nack to MoCo and so go glad to meet friends here for a catchup. Awesome place to sit and chill. There were three food trucks the day we were there and food was hot and flavorful from the two that we got food from (Eternal Love and Pizza and Diego's World). Great place to meet friends and family outdoors. Bathrooms were clean and roomy. That's one thing I always look for when visiting places boasting outdoor space (We have a toddler, and I don't want to navigate port-a-potties!). ;-) little guy loved exploring and the two hour reserved table/ bench on the lawn with umbrella was the perfect amount of time to spend outdoors. They also have two pay for EV chargers on site! (Please don't take my spotz haha!) Can't wait for another less humid day to try other tasty food trucks and sample more of the wines. Beautiful winery! Definitely see why you need reservations on weekends, it was busy. We brought our own snacks, but the wine was good.

The red wines were generally smooth. The server was very nice and the host staff indifferent, they were doing their jobs. I went on a not so busy day and you have to wait in line to wait in line to have a glass of wine. Then, if you decide to enjoy the fresh air ALL tables outside are reservation only. So, wait in line to get reserved seating and only one person(?) had access to what was reserved or not. If you want to get, crackers or cheese, they have a small snack stand at the host stand. I had to get mine as I went in and ate it out of the bag. Good- I take bag home, no cleaning or waste and bad it takes away from atmosphere. If everyone (or one person takes charge) and is set on where they want to be this could be a nice place. Plenty of groups were enjoying themselves. However, if a person in your group is tempted to move to a spot in the sun or by the fire pit, you have to make sure its not reserved even at 10% capacity. This takes away from what could be a nice atmosphere. There is a be a bottle neck trying to move once you get where you want to be. This is my biggest complaint, being stuck in your 'reserved' location made this place stuffy. Not a place I want to relax and spend my weekend. read more

Went out there on a spectacularly un-humid sunny Saturday in August. Expected it to be super busy, but was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't. Be sure to make reservations though, or at a minimum, check in with the host stand when you arrive-- it is not obvious when you arrive that it's not open seating, and we saw many people awkwardly evicted from their seats which had been reserved by other people. The grounds are very nice-- everything appears to be fairly new. Lots of tables spaced far enough apart that you don't have to eavesdrop on your neighbors' conversations unless you want to. Nice views of the vineyards and rolling hills out to the west with a tiny peek of Sugarloaf Mountain. They have a sign asking that you keep your children with you, but we saw many families and they do appear to be kid friendly-- as long as the kids stay put. The place draws a good, diverse crowd beyond the stereotypical winery set, but toward the evening it seemed to get a bit younger and a touch rowdy-- at least the bachelorette party across from us was. I tried a couple reds, a rose, and a chardonnay, all made from grapes grown onsite. I'm no sommelier but my wife is a little snobby in that department and enjoyed everything we ordered. They have snack trays-- we ordered the charcuterie "board" (it was in a box) and it was a nice spread. They also had a barbecue food truck onsite. In all, a great place to have so close to DC and the burbs and worth a visit, especially when you don't want to spend hours on the road to get to some of the other wineries in the area. read more
