Ken selected two wineries for us that made for a perfect day as both were great but very different from one another.

Takes about an hour…read more Five mid-1800's era buildings: the Newell house (the only building in its original location), a large log cabin, a schoolhouse, and a jail. Lots to see in the cabin and in the house. We particularly enjoyed the cabin, as it had many antique tools, and much antique kitchenware and furniture. We didn't see the inside of the jail. Nothing to see apparently, as it is just a wood blockhouse with a dirt floor, and only ever had one inmate. For one night. (His pig apparently escaped and did some damage to the neighbors' gardens). It would be helpful if there was a brochure with a map and description of the various collections. AAA discount available.

I visited two of the four buildings: 1) a spacious log cabin built as a tribute to the Pioneer Woman in 1931, later relocated up here to get out of harm's way from flooding. 2) the restored Newell House, built in 1852, on a hill above what was the town of Champoeg. When the town was destroyed in the flood of 1861, all 200 residents shared the house in the aftermath. The upstairs of the Newell House houses a display of actual evening gowns of Oregon's First Ladies from the beginning until 1992, quite interesting. Knowledgeable and friendly guides tailor the tours and stories to the visitor's interests. The grounds are pleasant and well-tended. All in all, a nice place to visit.

Hoover lived with the Minthorns after his parents passed away. Access to the museum was $3 / adult - cash only. There was plenty of street parking around the building. Hours are pretty limited, so make sure to check the website before you visit. I was really impressed with this museum. The curator gave us a tour, and she was very excited to share the history of the house. The details she provided really brought the visit to life, and made it a great experience rather than just a good one. She shared details such as how they've had people come in to inspect the appropriateness of the furniture and such for the time period, and they are pretty rigorous about only keeping things on display that would have been used at the time. They even had some original furniture that they highlighted in the tour. The house was in really good condition, and the displays were great. I learned a lot of things about our 31st president that I hadn't known previously; not only did they talk through his history as a child while he lived in the house, but they provided information on his entire life and put it all in a historical context. Overall, this museum is worth a visit, especially considering how inexpensive the entry fee is.

We were staying in McMinnville and Sherry was kind enough to pick us up from our airbnb. The tour ended up being just the three of us so that was a nice surprise. She drove us out to Carlton and we went to three different and very cool wineries. Sherry also took many photos of us throughout the tour and posted on her FB. At stop 2 she provided us a snack lunch of spinach dip, breads, cookies, and fruits which was lovely. Overall it was a fabulous tour and if ever in McMinnville I would highly recommend to book a tour with Embrace Oregon! Thanks again Sherry!!

Weeks before our trip began, Sherry went out of her way to help us plan the perfect day -- recommending wineries based on our preferences and arranging a perfectly-timed itinerary that allowed us to visit four wineries with wonderful views/Pinot. She promptly picked us up from our AirBnB in McMinnville. She was kind enough to take photos of us throughout our relaxing day, and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the Willamette Valley region and wines. The van that she transported us in was very spacious for our group. She provided us with water bottles, a special sweet treat and allowed us to charge our phones. Most importantly, she was extremely kind and a pleasure to spend time with. We so appreciated everything and can't recommend her enough!
