This event is well organized, which helps avoid super long lines. I appreciated their emphasis on offering a red and white option at each tasting area, since I cannot drink red wine. That said, the options weren't great and the "VIP" section was very tight and certainly not worth the up-charge. I believe in the mission of the event and will continue to support it. If you love wine, this is the place for you! Can I drive home? Barely... 20 1 oz. wine tastings = basically a bottle of wine, + a souvenir wine glass and a free wine charm with a Yelp Check in, what's not to love? William C. was kind enough to be my +1. I had no idea I'd be committing to 20 tastings when I signed up for this event, honestly, I thought maybe 8-10 tastings. But as a wine aficionado, how does one say no? The event came with a wrist band, a souvenir wine glass, a punch card and a raffle ticket. The wine walk had 20 tasting stations, everything from Riesling, to Merlot, to Muscat to Shiraz. Each wine ranging from $10-$20 per bottle. I have to admit, I only liked about 1/2 of the wines. But what a joy it was tasting everything anyway. It seemed like all of the red wines were on one side of Town Square while all of the whites were on the other. I wish they would have mixed it up a little bit more. With 20 tasting sessions, Yelp was hosting 2 of them. It was fun to meet so many of my friends such as Mel C., Terri R., and Tracy P., plus see other familiar faces like Ron L, River H.and Molly T. With my Yelp check in, I received a wine charm, another added bonus to the evening. I'm told each event has different wines, but from the 4/29/13 event - The best wine by my book? By far the Truffle Merlot at stop 15. The worst wine?? The Ed Hardy wine - *bleh*! This was the only wine that William tossed in the bushes (it was one of 3 I did). A a volunteer, I didn't enjoy the Wine Walk at Town Square as much as I did at Lake LV. The guests were a little more.. hostile. Nevertheless, New Vista Wine Walks offer a great opportunity to give to a deserving charity while enjoying a great night out with friends or a romantic night with a loved one. The one thing I liked about the Town Square WW is that they offered a couple food vendors so guests were able to get their snack on while sipping their wines, there is also a larger selection for dinner before/after the walk. read more

I volunteered with New Vista, as part of 2 Yelp teams, to pour at a wine station during this event. So my review is based solely off of my volunteer experience and the feedback we received from guests during the event. First of all: Town Square is a great venue to host an event like this. And, as smart as they are, I am sure it got people shopping as well! The event was from 7pm-10pm and I really shouldn't be surprised at how wasted people managed to get during that time (although nobody who came to our station was really out of control drunk). Side note: I love volunteering and will most likely do so with New Vista (and Yelp) again, however I think that the set-up/orientation process could be more streamlined. The event starts at 7 and all volunteers are required to be there by 6pm, and after 2 events, I think this is too early. We ended up getting to our station by 6:30pm and stood around waiting for the event to start. With the purchase of a ticket, you are given a wine glass, a wristband to verify your age, and a punch card with the 20 stations listed on it. The punch card no longer lists the names of each wine, but instead provides a mobile website that guests can go to for more information. For anyone interested in attending one of these events: Please remember - it's for CHARITY. All of the wine is donated by Southern Wines and Spirits and Lee's Liqour (as is the Town Square location) and the people pouring wine are volunteers, some with little to no experience with wine. So, take it easy. The wine bottles are fitted with automatic pourers, which will measure a 1 ounce taster. Please do not get upset over the amount of wine given to you - this is a tasting event, not a frat party! Please do not ask the pourer to give you extra or ask for another taste because you don't like the wine at another station. Also, only a limited amount of wine has been donated, and some of the more popular stations will run out of wine. You do not get a refund or extra tasters of other wine when this happens. Once again, it's for charity, so stop complaining. Please designate a driver. The police were out in full force and had the DUI Enforcement Paddy Wagon patroling the area, just waiting for some schmuck to drive away. If you get wasted, the wine pourers have been designated to cut you off. Get there early or on time. There were much fewer people coming around when the event started than there were at around 8:30pm - which is when some stations end up running out of wine. There is not an endless supply, so don't complain if you show up late. I agree with Kayla - the wines should be mixed up, interchanging between whites/reds. At every station there is a pitcher of water and a vase so that you may clean out your glass or dump any tasters you don't like. Take advantage of it. This location was perfect to even bring your family to - I saw quite a few people with their dogs, or kids. Since it's situated around the entire "mall," it would be a fun night out with friends or for a walk with your pooch. As the summer goes on, I think volunteering will be pretty miserable. Although nobody told us we couldn't take breaks, we were pretty busy the entire time, and none of the 5 people we had working our table ever stepped away to use the restroom or anything. It would be really nice to be able to enjoy some of the event. We had a map of the event, but none of the buildings were labeled, so it was hard to give directions, other than knowing that table 4 was to our right and table 6 to our left! LOL. I wish I could've walked around and had a couple of tastes (and at least tasted our wine), to compare to what we were giving out. Anyhow, if you've never been to Wine Walk, it is a super fun time! My advice is to grab some friends (or your dog), get a DD, and prepare for a nice evening supporting a wonderful local charity. Get there early, and don't get upset when the wine is gone! read more

This wine walk compared to the last one at Lake Las Vegas I volunteered at but the Town Square is a very nice place. The crew I worked with this time was just as awesome as the crew I worked with last time. I may be biased but I think the Yelp team runs the best stations at the wine walk. wow.. what a horrible event!.. wines were seriously off the mark. How can you have so many bad tasting wines all in one place. maybe a few reds, but white dominent. This really needs to go away. and possibly start over with a new management group with fresh ideas.. and decent wines... how do you have wine booths in a designated children's play area?... this was a total waste of money... food was scattered throughout, but not very good.. it mirrored the quality of wines... save you money.. this is a complete mess. read more

New experience. Should not advertise food. One piece of peppered bacon was certainly a disappointment. Some lines were long but did go fast. Almost everyone was nice, especially the wine vendors, except for one very rude volunteer. Probably not going again. read more

First time attending the wine walk, something different. You receive a punch card and you go to each POD to try the wines and they punch out what you've already tried. So youre only allowed 1 oz per wine. Which is a little different that other wine events I have been to. Overall it was lots of fun, and the weather was perfect that evening! read more

Quality of wine was a huge disappointment. Lees liquor representative told one person the wine we tasted was 4.99 a bottle (4 buck chuck). Most staff were unfriendly and we really tried to make them smile. I'll pass on future events and recommend my wine drinking friends to make alternate plans. Oh well we tried. read more

I loved the idea of sampling wine and walking around with great company! There are 20 wines to sample ranging from different types of red and white. The great side about this wine walk is how it is a fundraiser for New Vista, a non profit organization that helps out those who suffer from mental illnesses and disabilities by teaching them and providing homes. read more
