I had a special summer wrap (chicken, spinach, berries and a raspberry vinagrette) and sweet potato fries. stopped for lunch, as i was in the mood for a really good burger the day before lent starts! Man, this hit the mark. Big and juicy and cooked to perfect medium (i love meat medium rare, but not hamburger!!). The place hit the mark on almost everything. I was seated promptly, had an attentive waiter and enjoyed a nice atmosphere and ambiance. My only criticism is I waited a little longer than I would like for the food to come, but it was worth the wait. Burger was well seared and had nice flavor. We don't always get to go out, and when we do it's a special treat! Yesterday, my 2 kids and I went for dinner. You see... my daughter doesn't love loud spaces, is very distracted by noises and crowds, barely sits for too long. We requested a quieter space to not disturb other patrons. We sat in a booth around the corner and our server was Zara. Immediately she took to my daughter asking her what her doll's name was, and offering the doll something to drink when she brought the rest of ours! The experience was wonderful. Servers and staff were friendly! My daughter and I shared a very tasty bowl of seafood bisque (outstanding), and my son had French onion(not a drop left)! We shared quesadilla(fresh and flavorful), chicken wings(yummy BBQ & Garlic Parm)and mozzarella sticks(ooey gooey as they should be)! DELICIOUS! No complaints from my little eaters, and the portions were big enough for us to bring some home. Zara continued to check on us and made sure the doll was also enjoying the meal. Went Friday for a Fish fry after going to Savoia's for my Easter bread. Excellent fish fry, fresh crisp and hot. Absolutely no fishy smell which is another indication of how fresh it was. I had been wanting to eat here for a long time so when a friend suggested it for lunch, I was excited. First surprise was the lack of parking, given it was a weekday lunch. Then I noticed standing room only at the bar, so I realized that most of the patrons seem to be there to drink, not eat. Lunch seemed to confirm that because the food was awful. Worse than mediocre. Stopped in to Winfield Grill after work for what we were hoping was a fairly quick dinner. After an hour and twenty minutes we finally made it out. It took a very long time to get served our soup and salad and even longer to get a burger and chicken sandwich. It's sad to say that the salad was the highlight of the meal. The veggies were fresh and the ranch was great. The French onion soup was alright, but the onions were too large and slightly crunchy. And both of the main courses were overcooked. My burger was well over medium (no pink to see) and my husband's buffalo chicken sandwich was burnt. Additionally, our French fries were cold. I can't speak for the dining room (although I suspect that this place would be more disappointing if you were going to sit in the dining room and order off the formal menu), but I go there roughly once a month and it's perfect for what I need: a place with lots of aTVs to watch sports, a few good beers on draft, and a cut-above-average bar food. This place is just OK. I'd probably give it 2.5 stars but I'll round up because of the two free mimosas per brunch entree. I'm wondering if that's why there's so much hype around this place and it's always ridiculously busy (also ridiculously cheap, so that could be correlated as well). The food takes forever to come out, probably because of how busy it is. I've been here a few times and never had good food. It wasn't gross, but I can make a better omelette at home. I got Eggs Benedict once and it came out cold. I think it's probably a good place for people that just really like their diner food and haven't expanded their palettes beyond such food. This is my mother's favorite restaurant and so we go here quite often. We consistently get great food and great service. My mom is in love with their chicken bites with Winfield sauce. I get something different every time and I haven't been disappointed yet. Everything is tasty and I enjoy the unique ingredient combinations they have on their sandwiches. Their wait staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgable. We will keep coming back because we are very pleased with the quality of the food and the excellent service we receive. read more

We go to Winfield Grill at least once a week. Carmen and Missy are the BEST bartenders. They recognize us when we walk in the door and give Winfield the neighborhood feel. Don't ever order the nachos to go at this restaurant. The last two times they put very little beef and cheese. If I wanted to eat plain chips i would get tostitos. They have changed from a Colby jack type of cheese to liquid cheese (almost like the nachos sauce at ball games but worse tasting). So this is the second attempt at getting breakfast/ brunch here. First time was a few weeks ago and the service was super slow while just ordering eggs and toast. So we figured we would give it another shot. Well I didn't think it was possible, but it took even longer to get it this time. There were four of us and it took 40 mins. Eggs were over hard, not even close to over easy and the steak was mid well and I ordered mid rare. My buddy's corn beef hash was cold and not once did the waitress stop to check on us until I said something. She responded with "the kitchen is busy" and walked away. Went here on Saturday around 11:30am before the lunch time rush. My friends and I were visiting for the weekend from NYC. Glad we choose Winfield. The restaurant has such a great vibe with great decor and an amazing staff. Our waitresses were so attentive and informative about the menu. The food was delicious! We had a combination of clams, crab cakes, 'greens & beans', and turkey burger - everything was really good. We really couldn't have asked for a better eating experience. I'm curious though that every time I'm there I'm never told of the specials, but I hear the specials offered to parties of two or more. I do not normally write restaurant reviews, but the experience I had last night at the Winfield led me to write this. I was with a party of 6 girlfriends for dinner last night (Tuesday, 10/26/2010), we are not drunk and obnoxious 21 year olds who were there to party, but rather all just got out of work and wanted a nice dinner and drinks to catch up. Our server was HORRIBLE and rude from the very start, she never took a drink order, never brought bread, never checked on us, and the salads and food (which was delicious) took forever. When we asked to separate the checks, she was outwardly rude and told us that it would take "a really really long time for her to do that". (Now, all 6 of my party has waited tables for many years, and we all know that splitting checks is simply a matter of going to the POS and dragging the items from one check to another). She then sent the manager over who literally SCOLDED us and brought us a CLIPBOARD and told us that we had to write out our name and what we ordered each on a separate page. She then stated "you know, you girls are being a real pain in the pa-toot" and left. We were BESIDE OURSELVES. Again, we had all only had one drink and ate entrees, it was not like we were there drinking and taking up a table and acting in ANY way that would require either a scolding, or being brought a clipboard. When our server came back with the checks (which were wrong despite our clipboard task) she then also explained to us that next time ask for separate checks in the beginning. When we explained to her that we never had a chance to because she barley gave us enough time to get out orders out before we never saw her again, she simply just walked away. Needless to say, while the server's attitude was so aloof, it was the managers actions that were simply insulting and degrading. We wondered if she would have brought a clipboard to a party of older ladies who needed their check split. So: although my friends and I all love the Winfield and drive from all over the area to meet there regularly , I can confidently say that none of us will ever be back again. read more

Once ID was finally verified as legitimate, she immediately cancelled out drink order when she sensed we were displeased with how she chose to handle the situation. So I've always enjoyed the Winfield, until tonight that is. We arrived at 6:30 and were told it would be an hour wait. Please keep in mind that by we I mean my fiance, best friend, and my mother and grandmother. Ok no problem we'll grab a drink. The bar is great and so are the bartenders. After an hour we started to ask how long it would be. Each time we were told oh 5-10 minutes. Oh ok Seinfeld I'm sure. Finally after an hour and 45 minutes a male hostess (mostess?) says our table is ready. My grandmother a little frustrated says "finally" to which the hostess with the mostest says "you know we're busy right?" Yeah I know you're busy buddy, do you know how to respect your elders? Apparently not. I tell him he should apologize and he stays silent. Little did I know that he had called the big, bad bouncer to confront my family (really a bouncer at a restaurant? I guess i should have known better). As we're sitting down the bouncer asks us "do you have a problem?", clearly trying to initimidate me and my 80 year old grandma. I tell him that we were waiting a long time and he verbally acosts us. Really? The bouncer at a restaurant is yelling at my grandma now? Where am I? So let's sum it up. We were told an hour, it took double that, the hostess disrespects my grandmother and then the bouncer, really the bouncer, verbally acosts us. We walked out at this point and went to McDonald's. The food was delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend the McDonald's in baytowne. The Winfield could really learn something from them. read more
