Authentic Chinese food - delicious food and generous portion. Staff are very nice and attentive when it's not busy - sometimes it could feel short staffed when the restaurant is full. Love that they offer new menu items from time to time. Highly recommended!

North Star is a new Chinese restaurant in this space that previously had a Chinese restaurant in the same location. My husband and I went there on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant filled up while we were there. We ordered many dishes from traditional Chinese to more Americanized plates. Each dish was excellent and flavorful. My favorite was the honey walnut shrimp. The service was nice and friendly. I highly recommend North Star!

Very strong addition to the suburban Chinese food scene. Dramatic improvement inside from the old Green Garden. Dishes were very fresh, excellent quality from both the Chinese and American standout. I had Mongolian chicken which was tasty and I really enjoyed the string cut onions. Wife is a fan of the tofu seafood bowl. Definitely worth trying!!!

Very authentic Sichuan food, not easy to find in northern Chicago area. Have tried mapo tofu, twice cooked pork. Both recommended.

The food and selection was excellent not your typical Chinese food. The service was ok. And the deco was upscale.

Updating my past review of Chef Bo's. During our most recent visit we noticed that the restaurant…read morename changed to Green Garden. We confirmed with some of the employees that the restaurant was under new ownership. We noticed that a group of employees were training and working on a new P.O.S. system. The waiter that took our order was fumbling through taking our order on their new ipad system, which was ok and understandable as they were implementing some new technology into the restaurant. The good news was the food was still as good as it was under the previous owner. I was glad to find that the food hasn't changed. It seemed like the menu was the same, I plan to go back soon to see if anything new has been added to the menu after the new ownership has been running for a few months now.

Of course, my other family members like American style Chinese food, they can always find something really good to eat there as well.Every dish was so good, every time wish I could order all of those cuisines at one meal:) Recently, we've been stuck on Chef's shrimp and BoBo Beef, can not get off 'em. Haha..they are so delicious...Of course shrimp fried rice is a "must have side dish" to us. The staff are very friendly and very nice too.

Finally got to try this restaurant and so glad we did. Loved everything we ordered at this…read morefamily-owned place. They're so friendly and kind, food was super tasty and not overly salty. Definitely a new go-to for Chinese for us! What we got: Beef chow fun - Great flavor, the noodles had a good texture and are the right kind of wide rice noodle. Beef was tender and juicy, and I loved all the veggie in it. Fried rice - We got this without soy sauce--soo good. So many different proteins in it too: pork, chicken and shrimp. This was great. Egg foo young - My husband really likes this dish and after our usual chinese place closed, he hasn't really gotten it from anywhere. He said this was good and he liked it. I think it's the mix of textures that does it for him--a little crispy, but tender and saucy at the same time. Vegetables - Not too salty and definitely fresh vegetables (not canned). They used broccoli, bok choy and carrots. Everything was crispy but tender--nothing was overly soft or overly crunchy. It was just right. The portions are so generous and really everything we got tasted great!

Got lunch for takeout from this strip mall Chinese place in Mundelein. It doesn't look like much,…read morebut it still beat expectations though. New China Chef has all the usual stuff, from beef to tofu and whatever. Big portions help make things a good value for what you get. The prices aren't bad especially on lunch specials. Came in and placed an order to go. It's a pretty cramped place, but there's enough room for a few tables for those eating inside. The atmosphere is pretty lame. About the worst thing that can be said about it. There's two humongous menus on the walls. It's about $12 for the regular size entrees. They also have lunch specials. Has vegetarian choices. I got the Kung Pao Tofu. Good spice to it. The tofu was firm, and there was a good variety of vegetables including broccoli, corn, and more. For lunch it's pretty good. It's pretty fast to get most orders. There's a variety of proteins including tofu for vegetarians.
