Horrible service. This was the last time I'm giving this place my money, and I highly recommend you don't tip until you actually get delivery. I was quoted an hour to hr & 15 minute delivery, and the order took 2 hours (for a regular order of boneless wings). After an hour and a half of waiting, I called to check on my order mentioning it had been out for delivery for a while. The person answering the phone might as well have just shrugged. There was no offer to call the delivery person, nor did he even try to lie to me to assure me that the order would be there soon. "It's on its way." Great, thanks. A half hour later, the delivery person calls me and tells me he's here. I come down to what is very clearly the front door of my apartment building and the guy's not there. I walk outside to look on the street and he's not there. I look for a car w/ a Wings Over sign, and there's none there. The hell? I call him back. For whatever reason this guy had been waiting on the corner around the block where he'd parked instead of just walking the 50 ft (max) to the front of the apartment building. I'm not sure if he was an idiot, lazy, or both, but it didn't matter. Never giving this place my money again. read more

Wings were average at best, but the customer service is horrible. We placed a large order through Foodler for my office, and when it arrived we were missing 1 item out of 20. I called them back to see if I could get it refunded, and the woman denied the fact that it was missing, claiming that she had packed it all herself. I was placed on hold, and then told that they would refund my $7.99, but they would no longer accept orders from me. Pretty extreme for $8. No big loss, Cappy's Pizza in Boston is better anyway, and they deliver out to Central Square! read more

This is my 50th review, and I find it fitting it is on this place. Let's get one thing out of the way, this place loves it's plane theme. And it's also a chain, which gives them a cooler styrofoam container than most places. It's black, which almost makes it seem it could double as a clutch purse. Both times I've gotten food here, it's been the terryaki wings and the fries. The wings are great, and the fries are good too. A little salty, but I'd opt for picking up your food as opposed to delivery. The fries were hotter when I picked them up. And this place is tiny. Like you can't pass gas or else the entire staff there will know it was you. They do have a flat screen TV while you're waiting, which can take a looong time. So try and go when the Sox are on, then you won't notice. Good wings. I'm sure they're excited for football season. read more

Trans fat here I come! Just by stepping through the door you feel like you could have a heart attack any minute. This isn't a place where you can sit and enjoy your wings. It's take-out and delivery. I suggest calling ahead since they are usually busy and it took them 30 minutes to finish our order and it's not like they have this great lounge to wait in. The food is greasy, fattening, and flavorful - all that you could ever want in a wing. I'm more of a flapper person, and my two favorite sauces are the garlic parm and ranch. David gets the jet fuel and then I usually have to pay for it later. Their wings are good, but I would skip the fries. read more

I'm sad to say that I'm not a fan. Ordered for lunch delivery for the first time. The cajun waffle fries were cold. They only include two sticks of celery with the bleu cheese. And honestly, the wings were very bland. The third hottest sauce was mild, or medium at best. The breading made the wings soggy (and I never expect breading when ordering Buffalo Wings - that's what Wing Dings are for!), and of my entire order, I only got one wing flat. The rest were all drumsticks. Maybe it's just my taste in wings (which anyone can attest borders on the fanatical), but this place just totally didn't do it for me. After a rainy day wandering the streets, we decided a night in with a movie and some wings was in order. After being a devotee of Wings over Brookline a while back, of course this place was an obvious choice in our new Somerville digs. Unfortunately delivery took about 45 minutes (which we warned about) so by the time we got our fries they were pretty soggy. Also when placing the order we asked for extra celery and carrots. Instead we opened the bag and found 3 stalks of celery in the bag with our dressing. Main Event - the wings were super spicy like we ordered them and an order of 25 was more than enough for our small group to share. As long as the wings stay on point, yes, we'll be ordering from them again. Maybe I'll be more clear on the 'extra veggies' part of my order next time. Of note: $1 delivery charge is totally worth it when you're lazy and it's raining. read more

I order from them as I am a long time fan from ordering in Greenville, NC. The food never disappoints and neither does the service. They accidentally forgot my ranch that I ordered. When I called they were already closed so they couldn't send another driver out. The manager was still there cleaning up so he answered. He felt terrible and instead of just refunding me for ranch he refunded my entire order. My meal was free. That's good customer service! I will continue to order from This location. I absolutely LOVE this place. And I LOVE it even more because it delivers to my work in Inman Square! I have yet to have a bad meal from this place. Everything is always so yummy and fresh. I usually get the boneless honey wings with fries. MMMMMMM Delivery service is great (although I am typically so busy at work I don't usually remember when I placed the order). They have online ordering too! (which is what I do). Sometimes if they are busy for the lunch rush, delivery might take a little while to come (and for us, we're not far from Wings, but far enough where it could be a 15-20 drive in traffic) I can't say much for the interior of the place, as I have never been there, so I don't have any idea what it's like. As far as the staff, since I order online, I don't ever have to speak with someone except the delivery driver. And that's mostly a "thank you" (since I paid online with a credit card including his tip). *shrug* so I can't speak for that either. However this place is great, I'm giving it five stars. read more

BEST WINGS EVER-- I first discovered this place in Amherst when I went to UMass and was beyond excited when I learned there was a branch in Somerville. I've tried lots of wings places and they literally have the best wings ever. They have a huge variety of sauces and flavors and they're always a really good quality chicken. It's strictly a take-out/delivery place so there is no real restaurant here but they provide free delivery to Somerville and they're fast and cheap. They make all kind of portion sizes so it's perfect if you're just ordering for yourself (the wraps are great) but you can also get a large platter if you're having a bunch of hungry friends over. They also have amazing waffle fries! There is also a branch in Brookline that delivers to Brookline and Brighton if you live out that way! read more

I'm a UMass Amherst Alum who has fond memories of the Hanger (ie the birthplace of Wings Over). years ago I remember being really excited that they expanded, and that I could get that same saucy goodness in the city. For years I excused this location's deteriorating quality. it's been a while since i've ordered, and on a whim I gave it a shot. what a waste! First off, they're slow. over an hour for a joint that's probably a mile away? BAAHHH. As for the order, I got a hanger #1. The Hanglider used to be the a big dinner portion, and the Hanger #1 was enough for a few meals at least. the Hanger is now almost the size the Hang glider used to be (plus or minus 2 wings I'd say). Also, I ordered "extra extra sauce". this used to mean soup. they were JUST wet. Also, I ordered a large blue cheese on the side. didn't come! but If I remember correctly they were always 50/50 with remembering extras... All in all I'm mad at myself for not ordering from Eat at Jumbos, or one of the other many local joints that have better quality and better service. it's my own damn fault, really... This review is for a take-out order... Not that you can eat in at Wings Over Somerville - there were no tables or chairs. Placed an order on a Sunday afternoon online an hour and a half in advance (so I could pick it up just prior to the Pats game starting). The online ordering system is pretty straight forward and works well. Being able to put in pick-up time is a great feature. Showed up five minutes early. Wings were waiting for me. Paid with a "groupon" and a few extra bucks. Simple enough. I have preference for boneless wings, but I ordered both kinds to accommodate my party. Flavors tried included Red Alert, Chipotle, Garlic Parmesan, Honey Mustard, and Cajun Teriyaki. Also ordered cajun waffle fries. The boneless wings were perfect - well-sized, soft, and very tasty. Red Alert was just the right level of spiciness for my taste. Chipotle was equally spicy but more flavorful, though. Garlic Parmesan was a little bland for my taste, but not bad by any means. The honey mustard was fairly standard - nothing mind blowing. Finally, the cajun teriyaki also had a good kick. If ordering again, I'd probably get more of the cajun teriyaki and chipotle. The waffle fries were awesome flavorwise, but were soggy and soft. I prefer my fries crunchy. Still 3.5 out of 5, though. I'm not a huge fan of wings, but they are always appropriate while watching football. I'd order from Wings Over again. read more

I'm going to echo a couple of other reviews here - last week's order for a mini-gathering turned out mostly okay with a few hiccups. Wings over _____ has become a very popular place, that a lot of people swear by. The Somerville store has been doing their thing for a while now, and apparently they have decided what works is a jumble of confusing sauce flavors, not employing enough delivery drivers, resulting in long delivery times that leave wings steaming in their styrofoam and soggy upon supping. That said, the chicken is highest-quality tenderness, and those sauces that DO stand out, stand out well. The honey BBQ is my personal favorite, with their super-nuclear option being good only for cleaning old metal. Eating it will result in immediate gastrectomy. (I mean this in a good way). Take-out would be your best option, if you're in the neighborhood, or if you don't mind waiting an hour for your chicken, give 'em a go! read more

Let's call it 3.25 stars. On the one hand, the wings were big and juicy. Delivery was maybe 15 minutes after I called. (!) And the delivery cost -- $1.00 -- is incredibly reasonable. On the other hand, the wings weren't crispy. They were soft with sauce. What I LOVE in a wing is one that is both very crispy from the fry process, but with sauce or rub on it. My all time favorite for this are the Lemon Pepper wings from Wingstop. There is also no explanation of the sauces. There's four or five different flavors of barbeque, but I have no idea from the menu or the online site what makes those different. Do I just have to try them all to get a sense of that? So, all of that said, I'll probably order from them again, because I prefer wings over pizza. On the other hand, I sure wish there were more explanation available about the sauce flavors. read more

Good buffalo wings are not to be taken lightly, yet Yelpers have done so and overrated this place. Lemme start by saying this: this place is between okay and good, but is not great. However, because places in Boston lack good buffalo wing joints, this place has been overrated. The true definition of "cream of the crap." Overfried, underfried, overbuttered, underbuttered, NONBUTTERED, spice is too sour, not spicy enough, too spicy, too much sauce, not enough sauce, NO SAUCE, and ever-so-hurtful chicken is not fresh to name a few ways to butcher this American staple. This place violates multiple offenses from a cooking and service perspective. 1. I have ordered both boneless and bone-in wings from this place. Both menu items lack the moistness that a true sauced wing should have, and at times have been under or over sauced. I understand that you're trying to make food in mass quantities but you're trying to do one thing you're known for--so do it correctly. For example, I ordered boneless Kickin' BBQ wings and my girlfriend ordered citrus chipotle bone-in wings. Both of our wings were dry and lost moisture from being overcooked to death. 2. The "crinkle-cut" fries should honestly be called what it really is--Ore-Ida frozen fries thrown into a microwave. Wings Over has sold fries that wound up being soggy, super dry and, overall, just bland. 3. Surprisingly, the burgers are tasty. They have, dare I say, a bit of a good char to them. But I am skeptical about whether they're using fresh or frozen patties and whether the patties are actually grilled. ***Service*** 4. The service is terrible. I've waited 2 hours for an order on a non-sporting event day, have not been given the correct sauce for my wings, not been given blue cheese or celery or my drink and on one occasion, was not even given my french fries and told by one of the workers that I wouldn't be getting the fries THAT I PAID MY MONEY FOR. The redeeming (somewhat) part about this place is that when they DO get your order correct, the food comes in large amounts and is somewhat tasty. But there have been way too many mistakes in my four years of ordering, that I give this place a 3 star rating at best. But this is very sad because this is the best buffalo wing service that Boston has to offer. =( read more

When I asked for the correct wing sauce, the clerk wanted a dollar for sauce on the side. When I arrived home, I realized there was nothing garlic or parmesian about my garlic-parmesian fries. Ordered online: 25 (B-1) Red Alert, unbreaded (Breaded wings? Really? Get out of here.) wings with some fries, cheese sauce and a couple of drinks at 4:00PM on a Sunday. Order came promptly, maybe 30 minutes or less. Missing cheese sauce. and there was a $1 delivery fee. I hate that nickel and dime crap. I'm a wing snob after spending the better part of a decade in college in Buffalo. The wings were decent. Red Alert is a good level heat, but the sauce itself is a little different than I'm used to. Not terrible, but not the greatest either. I can't attest for the dozens of other flavors, but really that's not my thing. The fries were typical crinkle cut and had a decent texture to them for being delivery. Subtracting 2 stars for the lame delivery fee, the forgotten sauce and the better than mediocre wings. I've yet to try the other local wing delivery places, so I'm not sure if this will by my go-to place. read more

I was in Boston visiting and decided to DoorDash an order from Wings over. It ended up costing me $30 with the doordash tip for 10 wings and some garlic Parmesan fries. I didn't mind the price or the delivery but the food was horrible. The lemon pepper wings tasted like they had just rolled them in some lemon pepper salt...the Jamaican jerk were ok, but didn't taste like Jamaican jerk wings anthe firs were cold and hard and didn't have a drop of garlic Parmesan on them. I would not recommend this place at all, I love chicken wings but these were not good and those fries were probably left over from the previous day they just threw in there!! read more

The service was absolutely terrible and in addition to taking over the estimated time to get to us, our order was completely wrong. I have fond memories of you back in my UMASS Amherst days at The Hangar. you tasted so good accompanied by jagerbombs and beer in mugs the size of my tibia, all serves by scantily clad sorostitutes (you know, the miniskirts + uggs ensemble with a side of heavy makeup in the middle of winter). oh.. the memories! alas, the somerville location is take out only. and while theres nothing like huge juicy wings being delivered to your door for extra lazy munchie afternoons, for me it begins and ends with the nostalgia of it all. the white meat tenders are huge and juicy but not always crispy. I like crispy wings!!! the golden bbq is by far my favorite. I've only had the boneless wings from here but if you have the craving for it, this place is solid. read more

They are not the best wings -- the best are whole wings cooked in your backyard on the grill after having marinated for 24 hours in soy sauce, Tabasco and mustard -- but they'll do just fine in a pinch. Open late and conveniently located a block away from my house, Wings Over Somerville offers up a wide variety of heat levels and sauces. They don't white boy up their hot sauces neither -- that shit be melting faces. Their chicken tender/finger dealymcbobs are ok too but probably better on a sandwich than as finger food. I haven't gone too deep into their menu and am happy with staying that way. Their wings are the perfect food for when you just don't give a shit about your diet and are happy to sit in front of the tv and stuff your face. Good times. read more

I ordered food for a party I had over the weekend . The staff was excellent from the person who took my order to the people that loaded my car at pick up. The wings and tenders were delicious. 100 wings, 3 different flavors, 70 tenders, 3 different flavors, were delicious and packed perfectly. I recommend the dry rubs, so good. When the food is prepared properly, it's amazing. Wings Over Somerville is plagued by inconsistent food prep and the worst error rate on orders. I would say only about half the time the food is prepared right, and that's even if I get the right food order. A few years ago I ordered half honey BBQ and Cruising Altitude, and got nothing but a hotter flavor of Buffalo. I drove back to the restaurant to show them the wrong meal and get a replacement. Last night my girlfriend ordered us both combo meals of boneless chicken, but we ended up getting one meal of bone in wings (this is after the food was late). These problems are pre-Covid, and have been going on for years. Wings over Somerville is truly the manifestation of evil I mean the number even has the number 666. First of all the wings are terrible and over priced. My friend and I ate the B-1 hangar and got food poisoning. After almost eating all the wings we found a rubber band stuck to one of the chicken wings. Aside from this it took over an hour to get to my house though it is only five minutes away. I would advise anyone with common sense to simply go somewhere else like Wing Works or anywhere else that is not this place. If it was up to me i would no even give this place one star. read more

I made a pick up order to be ready in 30 minutes @ 415p. There was a short wait but I've waited MUCH longer here. The lady at the counter who also answered the phone when I placed the order was pleasant. This was also much improved from a prior visit. The food hot when I got it. It warmed up nicely in the oven for dinner at 7p. The fries aren't the best-they have that frozen taste. The wings were good. I requested light sauce because last time the wings were swimming in sauce. Next time I'll try to find something in between light and drowning in sauce. The ribs were tender. Call me a snob, but I can't get behind Wings Over Somerville. My complaints are thus: 1. Their fries are like those microwave cafeteria fries. For a place that claims to use "real" ingredients, there ain't nothing real about these fries. 2. The chicken used for their sandwiches certainly did not taste real. Perhaps actual chicken, but chicken that has been pumped and injected. There was nothing real about the texture of that chicken breast. 3. My stomach has never felt good after having food from Wings Over Somerville for at least a day after. 4. if you order a combo of sauces on your wings, the wings arrive all mixed together, so there is no way to separate the kinda hot from the blow your intestines out hot. 5. The boneless wings were gross. See complaint 2. On the upside, the actual wings themselves are decent. I like several of the sauces. The onion rings were tasty but left me feeling ill.
