NOW they are just cooked with very little seasoning as requested. I can't say I recognize anyone during pickup, so I don't know if there are NEW OWNERS. Remember that time I decided to be a vegetarian? That was fun. Unfortunately, it didn't last for long, and do you know what the culprit was? That's right--Wings Over Somerville. I think I've ordered here so many times that I'm surprised they don't automatically know my name and my order. The day that happens is that day I change my name and move, or continue down my shame spiral. Anyway, my chicken of choice? The Honey BBQ boneless wings. They're always juicy and delicious and mouth-watering, and when I'm ordering for just me, it's the DC-3. Sometimes, if I'm feeling extra-gluttonous, I get the combo with fries and a soda, with blue cheese for dipping sauce. Delivery is prompt, which means less time it takes the chicken to go from the computer to my mouth. Yay, technology! Boo, I'm eating alone :( It's best if you don't consider the caloric content of what you're eating. It's certainly more affordable do "take out" at home than sing "take me out" live at the park, so Wings Over Somerville fit the bill. Annoying complaint #1: Shouldn't the Yelp listing list this business as "Wings Over Somerville" instead of "Wings Over". I almost had a heart attack the other night trying to find Wings Over Somerville on my phone in a 1 mile radius and nothing was coming up. Annoying complaint #2: Why deliver wings in a freaking syrofoam container?! It was a cold, wet mess. I didn't like it at all. But, the wing sauce was flavorful, even if I did order the "wimpy" with a side of the 2nd buffalo sauce which was definitely more spicy than the wimpy. I also got a side of onion rings, because why the hell not. They were good. Have I had better wings before? Hell yes! Have I had worse? Of course. I think it was a little pricey and wish they'd offer a combo of like 4-6 wings and a side of onion rings and a soda. I'd be a happy fatass then. I was driving around hungry, saw this cool looking place and thought, "hmmm I outta check them out" and so i did. Im only giving it one star because, dont get me wrong the food tasted real good...I was impressed at first but about 20 minutes after eating my stomach felt real funny. Im not sensitive or allergic to any foods. I had to run to the bathroom and pretty much had to run back and forth for like 3 hours. Worst pain of my life. Never again. I had always been a fan of "Wings Over (insert city here)" ever since they invaded Brookline nearly a decade ago. They were a go-to staple of mine when going out with friends as the chicken was tender, delicious and the numerous sauces were all a hit. They weren't all that healthy, but it was college... Then the quality went downhill about 6 years ago and being more health conscious as well, I decided to go there only occasionally. Now I live far away enough from any location to only go there once a year, if that. Last night was such a night. Two friends of mine and I, fresh from a trip to the nearby Aeronaut Brewery decided to walk over to this location to get us some wings to go. I ordered a DC-10, which is about a pound of chicken. This option is great because you can get two sauces instead of one. Fast forward a couple of minutes and we all placed our orders and waited... and waited... and wait. Then my friend's order finally came even though he ordered after me. Eventually mine came about fifteen minutes after that. No apologies or nothing from the staff. We must have stood there for nearly forty minutes. We were good sports and never said a thing to the staff, but they clearly didn't care. They were too busy dicking around behind the counter, talking, texting and ignoring everything else going on around them. They weren't rude or anything but they clearly didn't care. I didn't touch my wings until I got back home to Waltham. I was super excited to get my two favorite flavors: Mustang Ranch and West Texas Mesquite, which are both dry rubs. I also paid extra for the celery and extra blue cheese which they were more than happy to nickel and dime me for. I knew that coming in though so I can't argue that. Excited, I got home, kicked my shoes off, turned on the TV and opened the styrofoam container. It smelled great but then I took a bite. And another. And then realized that this was so incredibly salty that it was basically inedible. It tasted like salt. Salt and a bit of the dry rubs. It was so salty that it was almost as if I was chewing on ramen seasoning packets. I tried to douse my wings in as much blue cheese sauce as possible to try and get them down but only managed to eat about 3-4 wings and threw out the rest. I'm not 100% sure what happened to the quality of this chain but it's been going downhill for a while now and there's no sign of them turning anything around. They've become complacent and frankly, even though their chicken is top notch, the sauces and dry rubs have become garbage. I'd be hard pressed to return again. It's a shame really as their various offerings are enticing and their sauces are varied and unique enough that it could keep people coming back for more. But not me, I've learned my lesson now. Ordered from here last night because I was in the mood for ribs and didn't want to wait well over an hour for the average ribs I usually get delivered (from Brighton of all places). Remembered the reviews here and looked this place up. OMG, they have online ordering! I don't have to TALK to anyone! Let's get this thing started... Stared at the menu for what seemed like hours because everything is in some kind of crazy code and I'm not a member of the Air Force. Do I want the F-16 or the Concorde? A DC-3 or a Skycruiser? And what the hell does any of this mean?! Once deciphered, an order of a full rack of ribs, 10 buffalo wings ("puddle jumper"), and a small onion rings (no fries for me! If Tracee says they're not all that great, I believe her!) was placed and received in about 30 minutes. My stomach was delighted. The ribs were the meat-falling-right-off-the-bone kind, wings were crispy and saucy, onion rings crunchy and... uh, onion-y (in a delicious way). Looks like I'm not the only one who's had a bit of trouble with this location... I've had delivery from this chain many times without issue, and the food has been excellent. Since moving to Cambridge, I've ordered from this location twice and the food has either arrived 2 hours later and revoltingly soggy or not at all. The drivers are rude (probably because there are not enough of them), the people who answer the phone are inattentive (probably because there are not enough of them), and it seems to take the cooks (probably because there are not enough of them) an unacceptably long time to fry a few chicken fingers and put them in a box. These guys have a good product. There also appears to be a great demand in this area for their product. They really ought to consider staffing themselves sufficiently to effectively convey their product to my front door. That way, I'll be eating chicken fingers instead of sitting up at 10:00PM, fumingly hangry (that's hungry and angry, folks!), complaining on the internet about how I don't have chicken fingers. Sometimes my girlfriend is psychic-- it's often when I'm laying on the couch with a glazed over look on my face. No energy, don't want to cook. Then she says those three little words that I so long to hear...."Wanna get wings?" Which is just what I was thinking. Wings Over (Your town name here) has an enormous selection of flavors. We always get boneless wings and choose the gooey flavors (honey bbq, honey mustard, sweet onion bbq) over the crunchy flavors (garlic parmesan, mustang ranch). They're super tasty and HUGE. Their delivery is always quick-fast (and free) which is rad considering that a thai place literally around the corner from our house took 2 hours to deliver one night. And they're always hot when they arrive. Also, you can order online, which I think is great-- I am always wary of phone ordering, people just seem to get it wrong. Wings Over (where-ever) gets my vote for favorite wings place, favorite pms junk food, and quickest delivery ever-- if you're ever having a wings-related-emergency, they're the peeps to call. read more

The first time I ordered from Wings Over Somerville I sprang out my front door to meet the driver like Usain Bolt escaping a house fire. I waved down the delivery man from the curb, and shoveled him money in the pouring rain. He handed me a black plastic bag and I turned back towards my apartment to see the door had closed behind me. I calmly dropped the chicken and searched for my key. Front pocket, front pocket, back pocket, back pocket. Nothing. I pulled out my phone and called my roommate: "Hello?" "Hey, are you coming home anytime soon? "Yeah! Well, sort of. I'm seeing a movie in Rhode Island first." "F*ck" After calculating my options, which were limited, I sat down on the stoop in front of my door, ripped open the plastic bag like Hulk Hogan devouring a t-shirt and calmly went to town on hot chicken wings like a feral animal. Shortly after I finished, another tenant in the building came home and saw me stretched out in the staircase, mouth and hands covered in orangey goo, a bed of bones piled next to me, french fry crumbs strewn about like rice at the most depressing wedding ever. He paused as he approached me. "Hey man, are you okay?". I thought about that question objectively and concluded that Wings Over Somerville, while satisfactory in every way, was definitely not worth being locked out of my house for multiple hours. Somewhere in Boston there are wings served just right. Somewhere between overbreaded genetic-freak-sized Hooters wings, and overcooked crunchy wing dings. Wings that meld the perfect balance of light crispy outside and juicy inside, with just enough sauce to complement, not overwhelm, the wings. Unfortunately Wings over Somerville ain't it. I've gotten takeout from here twice -- the second time because I was hoping the first time was just a mistake, a bad night, whatever. But no. I'm sorry, but the wings are consistently soggy, the sauce is flat, the fries are meh, and when you throw cheese sauce on 'em they're bleh. The service is OK -- enough to give them one extra star. They got the order right both times, and it came up fast, which I'll admit should be the priority for this kind of place. When I called they were already closed so they couldn't send another driver out. The manager was still there cleaning up so he answered. There were some difficulties with the delivery, it's an inside joke, and when they finally arrived I was ravenous. It pains me to write these reviews because my rating does speak to the food but rather to the poor service. We ordered delivery on a Monday night from Wings Over Somerville. We were told it would be about an hour. Wow, I guess they were killing the chickens right then and there, hence why it took that long? Anyway, we assumed the long wait meant the place had a lot of orders. Alright, fine. An hour comes and goes, and after close to 1.5 hours, we give them a call. The status of the order is checked, and then the driver is contacted. We are told he will arrive in 5 minutes. When I pushed on the wait, I was given then rather unsatisfactory response that "a lot of orders came at once, so it took longer." Um, if that's the case, then you go the extra mile to make it up to the customer that you misinformed about the arrival of his/her order. Well, the delivery shows about 10 minutes later. Here's the thing: the wings are actually pretty good, BUT we think they would have been better had they arrived at a reasonable hour. It was clear they had been wrapped up hot for awhile--condensation had collected in the box, so by the time we opened them, moisture droplets made the wings damp and sucked away any resemblance of crispiness. Not bad wings, but clearly wings that lost potential. We plan to try this place again will likely pick-up or else demand a shorter delivery time window. I ordered from here through Foodler tonight. I was quoted a one hour delivery time, and the order showed up 50 minutes late. The fries were soggy and gross. Chicken was good, I guess. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce I chose but that's just my personal taste, not their fault. I went to college at UMass Amherst, where Wings were a staple of life for my 4+ years. The saddest part about my eventual departure was that I would lose so many good food opportunities. But! Now Wings, my beloved Wings, is mere minutes away from my home. And they deliver! And have online ordering, so that I may minimize all interactions with other humans (save for the delivery man, which I regard as a necessary evil). The wings at wings are delicious. I usually go for the boneless wings, and the level 3 hot sauce (Red Alert). They tend to really slather the wings in sauce, but you can also get the sauce on the side so you can control the amount of sauce (sometimes a preferable option, or if you're getting a bunch for a group, with multiple sauces). If you're hungry, and eat meat, and they deliver to your home, I can't recommend filling the food void with Wings enough. In fact, you should probably order some right now. read more

Great boneless wings! I usually get the Garlic Parm which are great. Juicy and well cooked. Also, they are dry rubbed so they aren't messy. I am not a big fan of their fries (crinkled like Nathon's or White Castle), but I like their waffle fries. Their Blue Cheese dressing tastes like Wish Bone and isn't homemade. Celery is an extra 50 cents, but they give you a lot. I would normally give them 4 stars, but their delivery guy never comes to the door. Here is the thing: When I am in such a lazy mood that I order delivery on my phone, the last thing I want to do is put on my coat and shoes to run to the curb to get my food from the window of a car. A recurring theme to WOS' success is how well they cater to our laziness and our palates. I mean you can order pizza delivery, you can order chinese delivery. But wing delivery? And tasty wing delivery at that? That's a real gem. When my tummy begins to rumble in the "feed my now or suffer your doom" type of way, and it's cold and snowy (replace with: rainy/windy/gross/sticky/muggy/ I'm feeling lazy) out, I tend to reach over to the stack of menu's, and call 617-666-WING (9464). It's a habit that developed in college except then we were calling "wings over happy valley". Now, I won't say they are the best wings ever, they aren't, but they are pretty damn good. I try not to eat meat with bones on it, so the boneless wings (aka: flavored chicken tenders) are my favorite. They come in a variety of different flavors, Jamaican Jerk is my favorite.
