I do 5 Spicy Korean Q is so so good, both spicy and sweet, but personally not spicy enough, and then 5 original hot. You can't go wrong with the classic! I ordered boneless but was brought (and charged for, I learned) bone-in. Nothing against bone-in wings, but I can't stand them. So, like any reasonable customer I went to the counter to ask for the order to be corrected. Reassured that I would receive the correct order shortly, I had a seat to "enjoy" their limp french fries. Over 30 minutes later I gave up in desperation, after watching multiple other customers order and eat their meals. I tried to catch attention at the counter but they were too busy to acknowledge me. I did later speak to the manager and was offered a refund or store credit. I was supposed to really like this. My brother-in-law SWEARS by this place, claiming he eats here at least once a week, sometimes more often. Apparently I ordered all kinds of the wrong food. Details: Wing Stop is in Eastport Plaza off 82nd. I get no small amount of serious nostalgic sense when I'm over here, as I spent a lot of time over on the east side in my youth (grew up in Oregon City). For me, 82nd is kinda... "the more things change, the more they stay the same". I can't help but feel a slight sense of dread and depression whenever I'm on 82nd. Endless car lots intermingled with fast food and dive bars. I'm being a bit critical here, but it's my review. Also, I just wrote a review of 82nd Ave. It's counter service at Wing Stop, and the menu is well laid out and easy to navigate (it's on a reader board behind the counter). It's a small joint, with the counter slightly to the right as you enter and all the tables to the left of the entrance. There are maybe... a dozen tables? The place was clean and organized. I ordered the 10 wing boneless combo with fries. 5 wings with their original hot sauce and 5 with BBQ sauce. It's important to note at this point that an entire star of this review is for the beer: $2 pints. I was fairly speechless when dude taking my order made this claim. I said... "All day, every day?!" to which he replied "Yep." SCORE?! I still can't believe it. FWIW, "pint" at Wing Stop translates to "12 ounce plastic solo cup" but when it's Ninkasi Total Domination... who's counting, right? A true Imperial pint it's not, but stop being picky, you jerk. Jeez I'm getting off track easily here. Okay, so the wings were alright. Definitely better than Buffalo Wild Wings' version of boneless. I wasn't terribly impressed with either of the sauces. "Original Hot" simply tasted like Frank's, and the BBQ tasted like some kinda K.C. Masterpiece. The fries were a definite miss. Soggy and just... no. Dude at the counter was ultra nice. I have no complaints about the service, in fact they deserve some praise. For me, the jury is still out. Later in the day my brother-in-law berated me for my menu choices. He claims you need to order the original wings, ask for them to be cooked "well done" and I need to try more sauces. I will. Took a shot with their 50-cent boneless wing special. I got five Atomic boneless wings and five Garlic Parmesan boneless wings ($5 total; would normally cost $6.75). I liked the heat of the Atomic sauce. I'm guessing a habanero-based sauce here; I'll give it about a 7 out of 10 on my spicy scale. The Garlic Parmesan, not so much a fan here. As for the garlic parmesan, I liked that the garlic did not overwhelm my taste buds, and I liked the parmesan cheese sprinkled over the top. However, as far as appearance goes, the garlic and butter looked extremely unappetizing on the chicken. The boneless wings were breaded well, but they were very small and reminded me more of popcorn chicken. On my last boneless atomic wing, I bit into the chicken and I saw the red tendons of the chicken breast -- which I at first mistook for pink raw chicken. I didn't get sick or anything, but I opted to throw that piece away. The person taking my order didn't really smile a lot or make me feel too welcome. My top go-to place for wings. I ALWAYS get the Parmesan garlic and lemon pepper with the original fries. The size of the wings are always so fat and crispy. They are also one of my favorite places to go to get fries. They put sugar or brown sugar on them or something that makes it so good and different from other places. This place is ok. There are much better wings in town but these guys are close to my house. They are usually satisfactory. I think the flavors are good (original hot and Hawaiian being my favorite) but the wings could stand to be a bit crispier. The wait time is long enough that they certainly should be. The two things they really have going are the fries and bleu cheese dressing. They must have crack in them because I always want more! Well well well... Another Chicken Wing place! I've been here a couple times now. And have tried several flavors. I like the hot, bbq & teriyaki. I usually get a combo 10 Piece. It seems to be about the same price as any of the other wing places that are local. The atmosphere is fun, has airplane photos and a piece of a wing on the wall. Its not quite fast food, but they are quick enough. The great thing is they serve beer. Beer with wings is the way to go, IMO. Each order is made fresh. I like the fries normally, but last time they were pretty soggy. I have not tried any of the sides, because I am pretty much there for the wings. Located in Eastport Plaza Wing Stop is worth the stop. While not quite on the top of the Portland Buffalo wing hierarchy, they offer a good value and a good wing. Wings are one of my passions. Lame, I know. However I give a lot of thought about them. I like them crispy, almost on the well done side. This is how they make them. Wing stop is not as creative with their sauces as other places but they do well with the selections they offer. I recomend the garlic parmesan or their sweet BBQ. My gripe is that they do not offer any peanut base sauce, which I think goes great with wings. The service varies between a fast food get it and go and a more relaxed "how you doin?" vibe, but never any I am cooler than you attitude. The cleanliness of this place is on par with your late night neighborhood roach coach. I had to wipe down my own grease/sauce drenched table with a wet wipe. To top it off, there was no garbage can. NO GARBAGE CAN. I ask an employee to throw it away for me behind the front counter. Whatever the case, I was waiting for my hot wings and was excited after getting them in front of me. I had the orginal wingstop sauce and the mild sauce. Being the fatboy that I am, I finished the 6 wings and sat there thinking, really? is this it? Mediocre at best. Cool if you have a load of buddies and want some cheap wings - but even the price was on par with Fire on the Mountain. When I requested they remake it to ensure it's fresh, they refused. I didn't order sauces because last time I ordered from Wingstop, they came with it. Update: My first experience was not that great here, but I've gone back, and their fries which were not that great and overly greasy the first time were much crispier and were awesome the second and all the times after. The wings are much better than Hooters, I don't even take the long drive out there anymore! The bad: If you get just wings they will not give you dipping sauce with it, they charge .95, which is being cheap on wing stops part, especially if you buy big orders. The good: Boneless wings on Monday and Tuesday are .60 each, but like I said it's another .95 for the ranch to go with them. Overall, 4 out of 5 stars. read more
