I have never really gotten anything bad at Huey's ad the service is always good. I absolutely love their spinach and artichoke. Dip. I also love their soups. My wife and I stopped in before a show. I started out with the soup of the day. It was a white bean with chicken and chili. I know that don't sound great....lol...But let me tell you that was a very good soup. It had a very unique flavor. My wife got her usual steak on a stick. She said it was very tender and flavorful. She also got a order of The Onion rings. If you like the big onion rings, you can't go wrong. I got the Reuben sandwich and onion straws. It was hands down one of the best Reuben's I've had in quite some time. I highly recommend Southaven Huey's. if you want a good meal for a good price you can't go wrong here. Oh, and be sure to try the soup of the day you won't be disappointed. The inside is always very nice and clean. They have lived music occasionally and a full bar. It's just an all around fun place to go in my opinion.

Every thing was good and I even gave a nice tip to the bartender. It only took 15 minutes and I was walking out the door. I went and parked at another location and took one bite out and it was medium well done, not well done. I could only eat the fries and just went to Jersey Mikes to get me an Italian Sub. They have never failed me. I'm not one to take food back to a restaurant after I leave. I didn't feel like it. I just want go back. The restaurant Huey's I heard is Awesome. People make mistakes. I just chalked this up as a loss and want return.

I have found this place to be pretty consistent in my experiences…read more Granted.... I have only eaten one item here myself. I have now had the wife and a kid come too. They agree with me on my point of view, so here we go. My first visit I was totally skeptical. I had read the reviews, which seemed overwhelmingly positive. This is other than the asshats who get mad when they spend 8 hours of their "hard earned pay", and the all time classic of they "ain't happy this time, after all these years, they pissed me off this time" two star reviews. Side note: Spread the love when you can, and write good reviews when you have good experiences. Don't wait and write a bad one after one bad visit. Ugh. You walk in and it's bright, loud, hectic, gringos everywhere! I knew from the drop, as soon as I walked through the door it's far from authentic Mexican food, but totally "Mississippian Top of the Sip Mex" ™. That's another new one, you can use that one, as long as you pay me. Contact me for details, we can work something out. My number is (662) 513-0796. Now that the legal stuff is out of the way. Resuming.... My first visit, when my completely American server walked up and greeted me I was offered a "MS TOTSM" gosh durn bible of concoctions consisting of the same thing repurposed to trick the high brow MS masses to believe they have choices. I had not realized El Agave and Tate Reeves had so much in common. Stay on track, Adam!! This is Yelp! One thing stuck out to me that you generally see in decent Tex Mex to real deal Mexican food where no one speaks English. Chile Verde!!! I asked her about it, told her how reluctant I was ordering it based on her and my current environment (that brought a look), and she all she just said was "try it", so reluctantly I did. Sometimes I just need a lady to take control and tell me what to do. I'm there eating chips and salsa all patient and stuff... Boom! What comes out looks like baby poo. We might be on to something here!!! Could it be? The pork tips were swimming in green salsa, which was promising. I take a chip and dunk it in the verde.... Here we go! It's tangy, punchy, sweet, and spicy!!! Now all I need is the pork to not suck.... Holy shit!! It doesn't suck! It's actually good!!! Everything else is an afterthought. Rice. Blah. Beans. Blah. They are fine I guess. Just the norm, but the salsa on the pork steals the show!!! I eat it all up! I've came four or five times solo on lunch shopping excursions to Tanger and my Verde has always been a winner! On the family visit, C had a taco and an enchilada. Kiddo had the famous P-10, or MS Mush as I call it. They both ate it up so it must be good. Kid even took the rest home and ate it later. I'll be back for my baby poo pork! You can guarantee that!! She did seem a bit busy and forgot about me a couple of times, but honestly, I didn't mind (this time)...I enjoyed the solo time to people-watch and savor my meal. I was seated near the kitchen alongside a group of younger waitresses, and the section filled with customers was mostly small groups and couples. Unfortunately, one young waitress (I'd guess around 18-20) was loudly using profanity, dropping F-bombs and openly saying she didn't care. It came across as rude and unprofessional, and I hope that kind of behavior doesn't become a reflection of the restaurant in the future. On a positive note, the lunch fajitas were delicious and a very generous portion. Despite the distraction in my seating area by the cussing, disgruntled young waitress, the food and my waitress's, Taniyah, friendly service stood out.

I had the three piece dark chicken with the sweet potatoes casserole and mash potatoes with gravy. The mashed potatoes had quite a few lumps and everything kind of gave a powdery taste (gravy, casserole, and mashed potatoes). When I say powdery... I'm saying that it just wasn't giving "homemade". It's not intolerable but it's not what you look for when you go to a soulfood restaurant. I also wasn't a fan of the wait. We have some made to order items so it was understood about the 20 minute wait, but we didn't get our food until almost an hour after paying. The extra time waiting seemed to be due to fried green tomatoes not being made in tandem with the fried chicken. As a result, everything was luke warm by the time we got the food. It's truly sad because the flavor is definitely there. The texture, the powdery residual taste and the wait time leaves me at this place being a one time experience at the least and a, "if I had to" at the most.

The catfish is made to order, was perfectly crispy and well seasoned. Definitely top 3 catfish meals for me in the area. The mac and cheese was some of the best I have had. It was creamy and savory, it wasn't too fatty and had a firm texture. It was definitely the highlight of the meal. The green beans had a bit of a mushy texture but I really enjoyed regular green beans. The meal comes with a side or cornbread which was filling , fluffy and sweet. Fantastic soul food for me. The banana pudding was also delicious. You can also actually taste banana not just sugar. The people working there were honestly so kind and chill. They knew what to recommend and added to the dining experience. My only criticisms come with how some of the food is prepared for example the green been texture being on the mushy side is likely due to it being presented similarly to a buffet. I was also unable to have a whisky due to the bar being closed however it was 2pm on a weekday. Overall great experience

I got the 5 Pc Whole Wing Dinner with Seasoned Fries. I got what they call "The Charger" Hot for the wing flavor. I must say it was pretty hot (Which I Like!) They have a nice area to sit if you choose to eat in. They also have music playing. I really enjoyed the food and they would have received a five star if there had been carrots with the wings and they had not run out of ranch dressing. I have never received wings without carrots or celery. Most of the time its a combination of the two. I also had to pay extra for two little rolls (95 Cent Each) Those were the only things that bothered me. The wings were very good! The fries were also good and the service was outstanding. I must say for just opening recently it was very good. The chicken is also very different from the style of the other two. When we walked in we were greeted by the staff. The inside was very clean and nice. We grabbed a menu and sat down to look it over. You actually order from the counter and wall menu, but we wanted to look everything over (Not Rushed) They have alot of great options on the menu. This includes dry rubs and dipping sauces. Many different options for the chicken and the french fries. I like very hot/spicy food and my wife is more into sweet/salty. There were great options for both of us. I got the "Nashville Hot" wings and drumsticks. My fries were plain with no adds (Chili, Cheese, Garlic) You can choose dry rub and dipping sauce or toss the chicken and dip it in a choice sauce. My wife got the chicken wings (Not Tossed) and the Teriyaki dipping sauce. She got her fries covered in cheese. The chicken itself was cooked very crisp and tasted great. I was not impressed by the heat of the "Nashville Hot" It was barely mild to me. I love really hot food though. The owner gave me his hottest sauce (Damn Hot) to try dipping. That was on point! next time I will get mine tossed in that. My wife said she really enjoyed hers with the Teriyaki dipping sauce. We both loved the fries. They are the coated style fries cooked very crisps. We both enjoyed the food and will be back to try some of the other options. Final: The overall experience was great and I recommend giving them a try if you like this style food! If I had to pick some improvements. One would be to move the drink machine. Its way to close to the people ordering. I was trying to fix my drink with someones butt next to me ....lol.... The other thing would be to give dipping sauce cups based on amount of food. My wife had three wings and I had eight. We both received one small cup. They were nice enough to give me the hotter sauce but I think that many should get at least two of the ranch.

In fact I had a few bites of my tendies and wings without any sauce at all and found it to be right tasty. However, OMG the salt!!! Still as salty as the Dead Sea. Great music playing in the restaurant l, might have been about 1 or 2 notches too high on the volume though as it was slightly difficult to communicate with the guy at the register. I took my own advice and got 2 sauces for my #4 combo and had enough sauce this time. Oh - their fries are nicely battered and cooked as well. BUT DID I MENTION SALTY AF!!!
