Over the last year I've noticed my vision getting blurrier and my eyesight feeling more strained, especially when working on the computer and driving at night. I decided to visit the optometrist and was recommended to Dr. Farra by a friend. I didn't want to admit that I needed glasses, but when I got there the staff were very welcoming and made the process seamless and comfortable. I'd heard stories about how uncomfortable it is to get your pupils dilated, but I was pleasantly surprised to find I had the option to instead have digital images taken of my retina by a new machine they have. Dr. Farra fitted me for glasses and I was amazed by how much better I could see. Garo, one of the opticians, helped me pick out frames which I have gotten tons of compliments on. The receptionist Emma took care of my billing and made sure I got the best value from my insurance. My glasses arrived a week ago and I've worn them every day at work since - I can't believe I went so long without getting my eyes checked. I highly recommend Wink Eyecare and Dr. Farra to anyone who is looking for a new eye doctor in the area. read more

I am personally impelled to write a review for Dr. Farra and her team at Wink Eyecare. I have had trouble finding contacts that fit and work for me for years. With my astigmatism and seasonal allergies it has been tough finding a comfortable pair of contacts that also improve my vision back to where it used to be. Dr. Farra was able to accommodate my busy work schedule and had me come in for a contact exam. The exam was extensive and professional. She had me trial a couple pairs of contacts for 4-5 days until I found what I was looking for. It only took two trials before I found the perfect fit. She recommended me to switch from monthly contacts to dailies, which made for easy care, more consistent results, and allowed my eyes to breathe more (alleviating my itchy eyes due to allergies). She has a great staff as well, who are all extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. I definitely found my new eye doctor. read more

I couldn't have been happier with my experience at Wink. Dr. Farra and Amy are absolutely incredible. They are personable, knowledgable, and so easy to work with. They have a number of options for glasses and contacts and will do everything to assist you with finding the right fit for you and your budget. Scheduling appointments is easy and flexible and they were right on time for my scheduled appointment. The location is perfect for anyone located right in South Boston, and is definitely worth the drive for anyone in the surrounding areas of Boston. I got my eyes examined at Wink last week and the boutique is great! I called last minute and got a great appointment time. The doctor was fantastic and didn't make me feel rushed or like she was trying to hurry yet didn't drag it out either! Loved her personality! They have a great selection of frames wether you want something a little higher end or if you want a more casual option. The space is beautiful, VERY clean and they take most insurances! This place is great and Dr. Farra was wonderful during my exam (which I was 15 minutes late for due to traffic but everyone was very understanding and kind about it even though I know what a wrench this can throw into the schedule). Wink Eyecare is the best! I had an eye infection and when I could take it anymore I called at noon on a Saturday knowing they would close at 2pm. They squeezed my in and gave me a full work up and the prescription I needed to get relief in my eye. This is the second time they have done this for me and I am so appreciative. Dr Farra is one of the best. I have known her professionally (I'm a doctor) for 15 years and used her as my optometrist for the last 5-7 years. She takes the time to fit lenses and glasses correctly. Extremely Disappointing After 10 Years…read more I've been a customer of Pro Optical for nearly a decade, but this latest experience was unacceptable and ended any future business with them. Despite my insurance covering services, I was billed extra fees just to receive a prescription and for services clearly marked as included. I ordered glasses and specifically requested they use my current prescription. The doctor had provided a placeholder for a stronger option, but I told the associate I did not want to use that for at least one pair. They ignored my request and ordered the glasses with the stronger prescription anyway. My wife returned the glasses on my behalf and explained the mistake. They dismissed her and insisted the order was correct. I couldn't get there myself without taking time off work, so I waited until my next appointment. When I explained the issue in person, I was told flatly: "That's your problem." I was stunned. No accountability. No apology. No interest in fixing their error. This business prioritizes billing over patient care. After 10 years, they showed no regard for loyalty or basic customer service. Avoid Pro Optical and take your business somewhere that values its patients.

I was told to sit and wait till after my appointment. The front desk woman seemed irritated with me for telling her the purpose for my visit and clarifying the type of exam I needed. The Doctor did a quick eye exam which I needed and proceeded to a contact lens fitting even after I repeatedly said I didn't need one, she gave me new contacts to try (that I didn't need) but only had enough for 1 eye, not the other. They proceeded to ask to charge me for the half contacts and lens exam (that I didn't ask for) and got frustrated when I told them I didn't request that service and didn't want to pay it. I got my new prescription but felt uneasy. After getting a new set of glasses somewhere else, I come to realize she messed up my prescription and the glasses were hurting me. Ended up flying back to the West Coast to a trusted Doctor who redid my eye exam, found Dr. Jost's mistake, and fixed my prescription so I could order a new pair. The appointment process online was super easy. Zoc doc has easy to use forms that you can fill out online so that you don't have to wait once you go in. I opted to take the eye photo even though it was not covered by my insurance. At check in, they clearly explained that this would not be covered and an incremental $35, but I wouldn't need to have my eyes dilated. I really appreciate that they explain this upfront to avoid any confusion later on. The woman who performed the initial tests was great. After those tests, I saw Dr. Yip. She was extremely professional, thoughtful and friendly. I felt like she really spent the time to explain to me what was going on with me eyes and was genuinely interested in finding the right contacts for me - not just trying to push one brand. During the booking process, I completed all necessary paperwork, including submitting images of both my medical and vision insurance cards. Vision North lists United as an in-network provider on their website. After scheduling, I received multiple texts emphasizing their strict 24-hour cancellation policy and warning that unconfirmed appointments would be canceled. I confirmed my appointment several times. Then, on the morning of my appointment, I received a text at 7:23 AM informing me that my appointment had been canceled because Dr. Miller was unavailable--just three hours before I was supposed to be seen. Given their rigid policies, this was frustrating. At 8:13 AM, I received a call from the office offering me a later appointment at 11:00 AM with a different doctor. I rearranged my work schedule again to accommodate. Upon arrival, I checked in and was asked to wait. Shortly after, I was informed that my insurance was actually out of network and that I would be responsible for the full cost of the visit. At this point, it was clear that this office is completely disorganized and unprofessional so I left. In a city like Boston--home to some of the best healthcare in the world--this level of incompetence is inexcusable. Save yourself the frustration and avoid Vision North.
