We were looking for a very casual fun type restuarnat with pub food and a pub type atmosphere. The Winking Lizard Tavern was recommended. I wanted to make note especially of our waiter Josh J. He was excellent. He was attentive yet not annoying. He was patient with us, 5 women who were there first to reunite after a year absence with each other, and second to enjoy the food and drinks. The white pizza was made perfect and delicious. So I went there on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't even busy and not only did the server who was obviously overwhelmed, which wasn't her fault... Got the order wrong... in my wife's order... She told the server that she was a vegetarian and ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, sub, veggie burger, and it still came out with bacon on it‍.. I ordered the breaded buffalo chicken sandwich and I got the grilled one instead and the whole bottom was just completely charred black and they had the nerve to still put it on a bun with bacon.. ordered onion rings well done, and they came out the complete opposite barely crispy at all ..then when I explained to her that it was wrong, I told her I didn't want anything else... Except for a double vodka cranberry lol... And then when I got that, lol it was in a wine glass with no ice and just a straw‍.. like wow.. and you can just hear the cooks back there laughing and joking around like they could care less... So, not to be a hater but the food here just wasn't that good. Now, that's out of the way, everything else was awesome. Service was so friendly and warm, the beer selection is off the hook with a ridiculous amount of craft beer from all across the country and they have shuffleboard and skeeball. The place is known for their wings which just weren't that good. The sauces all tasted the same, the freshness scale was at about 2 and the blue cheese/ranch came pre packaged in little cups on the side. If this is Cleveland's best wings, I think I have a million dollar idea brewing. I also had some of the pulled pork sammy which was decent. The cheese fries smothered in bacon bits were delicious but I mean really, how can one eff up cheese fries smothered in bacon bits? Exactly, you really can't. If I could give zero stars I would. My daughter took her step daughter there for dinner to have a special night together and gave her a choice of restaurant and she chose the lizard because she loves the wings and looking at the lizard. My daughter is white and my granddaughter is black. Their policy is that after 5 you need id and children accompanied by a parent or guardian. My daughter who is 33 was asked for id that she left in the car and was about to go get it and identified the child (13yrs old) as her stepdaughter. The man that was questioning her then proceeded to ask for documentation that this was her stepdaughter. Whaaaat??? Who in the heck does that? There were other kids running around the restaurant and I'm sure their parents were not asked for "documentation " since they were the same color. Stay away if you are a mixed family as this location seems to racially profile if you are. Seems the employee needs better training and the location needs to take a better look at their policies. When the general manager was questioned she had a very unapologetic and nonchalant attitude about this. STAY AWAY MIXED FAMILIES!!!! read more

Tuesday night; date night. My boyfriend & I had the pleasure of having Khloe as our waitress. This was our first time coming to sit down inside. The environment was really sporty. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves. He loved your beer selection. Plus the Indians were playing. I've been to this location several times long ago and can't recall having a bad experience. However, my most recent experience here was horrendous. Our server, Porsha was incredibly rude and made us feel like a burden. She did not provide us with straws for our drinks, so we asked for them when placing our order. After several minutes, we did not receive them and she was at a nearby empty table setting out place settings or something, so we flagged her down and asked for straws again. She gave us a very nasty look, as if we were being rude for asking, but ultimately proceeded to provide straws for us. Throughout our dinner, she did not refill our drinks. She really didn't stop over at all, except to take our condiments and prep our table for the end of her shift, which judging by her behavior, appeared to be very soon. We weren't even there for that long at this point and were just receiving our food. However, it is a sports bar, so we were planning on staying for a bit of time. Our server rushed us to cash out and didn't even offer us drink refills before she went-- which would have been nice if she was in fact clocking out soon. In fact, she actually took our dining partner's empty cups away completely. All in all, it was clear that she was rushing us along and did not want to actually serve our table. Her lack of service and overall unfriendliness was not appreciated. Only pro is that their bbq sauce on their boneless wings is delish. read more

Went here after Lizardville which was next door. They had a great patio area in the back, plenty of space. Your typical bar scene with plenty of tables and beer. With a group of friends on a Friday night, it wasn't that packed. The place closed at 1 which was really weird since most places are open till 2AM so last call was at 12:30. They had shuffleboard, darts, pool, TVs and okay drinks. They were kind of watered down. I wouldn't come back but I still give it 3 stars because the service wasn't that bad. read more

A great, close-to-home staple. Although the fare is always solid, our experience definitely varies based on who is waiting on us. A few of the bartender regulars know my fiancé and I and understand that I loooooove lots of condiments. Others find me annoying with that, and ignore me, so I am left without that crucial blue cheese or extra hot sauce. Otherwise, great wings, good specials (check out their daily lunch specials!) and a nice patio with good views of the tv. We will continue going here for many years to come. read more

The food was decent but the service was absolutely terrible. Our server on 11/05 was Malika, and I have never felt more unwelcome in my entire life. She took mine and my husbands order and as I was going to order for our child she just walked away, not even allowing us to order for them. Thankfully we had snacks in our diaper bag, otherwise they would've been screaming the entire time. She didn't check on us a single time while we ate, or waited. I kept trying to flag her down to get a refill of my water and couldn't at all. My husband was able to flag her down and then she just walked away after asking "Is everything good?" with him responding "Yeah, but can we..." and she walked away before he could even finish saying yeah, not even hearing the rest of his response. Then he had to flag her down again, to get the check and two drinks for us (a water to go and a coke), when she brought the check she brought the wrong drink for him, which is fine. We tried to give her the check, she walked right by us, went to the drink station came back out and walked by us yet again as my husband was holding the check out to hopefully get her attention. On her way back to the drink station she snatched the check out of his hand. This has been the first time neither of us have left a tip. I honestly don't think we will be coming back after this experience, which I'm upset about because the fried pickles are so good. read more

I love Winking Lizard, especially their pizza and wings. Last night we arrived at this location and we were seated at 9:50 on the patio. No one ever came to greet us once seated, however exactly 10 minutes later the hostess returns to tell us that we cannot be served because the kitchen was closed. I asked what time the kitchen closes and she tells us 10. Ok, but we were seated before 10 and you conveniently wait 10 minutes to come tell us the kitchen was closed. She states "the kitchen just asked if I seated someone and reminded me that the kitchen was closed." She then proceeds to tell me that they begin to break down the kitchen at 9:30 to which my reply was "so the kitchen closes at 9:30 not 10." I call the manager today who explains to me that we still should've been served or offered to sit at the bar where they have a limited after hours menu which we were not offered. I will return but this definitely left a bad taste in my mouth for this location. read more

We had a very large party and they were able to accommodate us. Food was good. I had a Hansen Burger and a soft pretzel. There wasn't enough help for our server. We didn't get drinks we asked for. This Winking Lizard really is great. I've spent many nights after work drinking and eating with friends and co-workers and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly employees. The outdoor seating is just great. Perfect for game nights or just hanging out sitting by the fire. There is a cozy fireplace as well as a stage for bands to play. The bar outside is connected to the inside which gives you a connected feeling to the place. The food has ALWAYS been awesome here. I always get a wedge salad, no blue cheese, ranch on the side. They never get it wrong. My boyfriend always gets the Reuben or the steak sandwich and he always enjoys them! The employees are phenomenal. They get to know you over time and always remember what we like. We are going to miss the old manager, and hope the new management team is as good as the last! read more

i am not one to write reviews on yelp but my experience at this winking lizard location genuinely made me think, "this needs to go on yelp." let me start by saying this, i LOVE winking lizard, and i actively bring friends and family to eat there because i genuinely enjoy it. but this experience was the absolute worst and i will NEVER come back to this location. my party and i ordered our food and waited over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, while other tables around us both arrived and ate in this time. i fully understand how busy restaurants can get but they were not packed and we did not order an insane amount of food, there were four of us total in my party. our waitress was nice and this review does not involve her, she was the only decent part of our experience. we finally got our food after over 45 minutes of waiting just for all of our food to be cold. my friend ordered the green sriracha boneless wings and immediately got ill from them. he managed to eat a few wings before excusing himself from the table to throw up in the bathroom. he ended up leaving the restaurant and driving home because of how sick he felt. we asked our waitress to comp the wings since he clearly did not enjoy his food and she said she would grab a manager. the now three of us sat and waited another 20 minutes for the manager to arrive at our table. he then told us he could not come the $6.50 wings because there was no proof that the food made my friend sick. what better proof could we have when my friend literally had to leave the establishment because of how sick he was. my other friend (girlfriend of the sick friend) was not comfortable paying for food that made her boyfriend throw up and also we were already having a bad experience from all the waiting and cold food. the manager continued to say he could not comp the $6.50 wings or couldn't provide accommodations for just a flat out poor experience. at this point, the remaining three of us wanted to leave so bad. we considered leaving cash on the table and just leaving because we were all so displeased and also concerned for our friend who was vomiting because of this food. we eventually got the manager to take the $6.50 off of our bill and i've never been more excited to leave a restaurant more. we sat in this restaurant for a combined two hours and this was my birthday dinner with my friends. i am ashamed i took them to this location and you literally couldn't pay me to step foot back into this location. bedford heights winking lizard... do better!!!! read more

The servers here were consistently fast and cheerful, even though my friends from work and I were loud, obnoxious and intoxicated. It was a Friday night, so maybe that's just par for the course. For some reason, I got the "Big Ed Burger," which is a full pound of hamburger, cheese, and the piece de resistance, a whole bunch of bacon. Dayum. It was maybe the best burger I've had in the whole of the Cleveland diaspora. Add to that a couple pints of Christmas Ale, and you've got an All-American Friday Night Guys' Night Out. If you go to Winking Lizard, you go for the wings... and beer. These are the two things that separate the Wing-King Lizard from any other sports bar. Monday and Tuesday are their "wing nights" where you can order them at .35 a piece in increments of 5. You do have to pay extra for dipping sauces. It is generally understood that you can't take home leftovers on wing nights, but many servers have obliged at our request. Wing nights are usually packed, and if you have a big party, expect a long wait. On the plus side, you get to eat free popcorn while waiting. Service ranges from OK to great. The worst experience was when a glass of ice water was spilled on one of my friends. A free side or something would've righted the ship but I guess you can't expect much more than an apology. Great beer selection and drink specials. I usually get the beer of the month which comes in a customized glass that you get to keep. Impressive range of wing flavors, with my personal favorite being spicy sesame. Hottest is the "Magma" which definitely lives up to its reputation. read more

While waiting for your table, you can enjoy the complimentary popcorn! It's a great place to watch sporting games. The place has flat screens everywhere. The beer selection is also stellar. So of course, a week after experiencing Winking Lizard Tavern at the Beachwood location I go to the Bedford location! I wasn't crazy about my first experience, but I figured EH WHY NOT when I was asked to go to this one. I found this atmosphere better. Right when I walked in the hostess was making me laugh. When I went to go sit down I was like, OH SHIT - because there was a large cage with a lizard inside of it. What the fuck?? Props for taking their own name seriously! I had the nacho appetizer for my dinner, because EH WHY NOT (I'm starting to see a trend here). I wasn't really into it in the grand scheme of things, since they used cheese that hardened quickly. Liquid-y, yellow-y nacho cheese is a guilty pleasure of mine, and it could have definitely used more of it. My dinner companion ordered a burger, which since the week earlier I had tried so I didn't bother eating any of his. OK, point of accuracy: the iguanas don't serve the popcorn, and they don't actually start flying until you make a little too much progress on the "World Tour of Beers" challenge in one sitting...ahem...so I hear... Anyways...the chicken wings are great, coming tossed in any of about a million (15 or so) different sauces and glazes; you're sure to find one to meet your palette. I love their garlic -- so it's either the regular garlic or the spicy garlic for me! There's plenty of great food aside from wings; I have yet to experience a bad meal. Most importantly, of course, is an incredible beer selection!! In addition to the 200+ beers as part of the aforementioned World Tour, the draught selection is impressive, too. Though, if I'm in Cleveland, why stray too far from our beloved Great Lakes Brewing? (that's a rhetorical question) Lastly, the atmosphere is always informal and alive. Plenty of TVs and/or music keep the place going -- and it's usually a gathering of some of the best sports fans around. What gives the 'Lizard' its fifth star is that, although technically a chain, it's a local establishment with its heart rooted in Cleveland that's simply outgrown four walls and one roof. Small, clean and neat, but slow on service, average food and really nothing all around special about the place. Our waitress was nice, but everything was all around SLOW and there weren't very many people in the place. We went during an off time, around 3pm, so there wouldn't be a wait, but come on! There were skimpy on serving size. I always had to remind them to bring me a drink and napkins for the kids. I couldn't believe when I had to track her down for our check. Every time I'm home, I make at least one stop into the Winking Lizard. It's my parent's favorite place for an inexpensive, easy dinner. Wing night features 35 cent wings, which is a really good draw. They have such good sauces...my faves being Caribbean, spicy garlic and sesame ginger.
