Ken was a timely and clear communicator, fully transparent about the constraints and tradeoffs that are inevitable with a retrofit, and skilled at explaining complexities around dimensions, material options, and so on. It was obvious from the get-go that he is very knowledgeable about window technology and options (he travelled a professional training session at Marvin HQ in Minnesota to up his skills during the time we were working with him in planning), and up to date on building code. Ken's work was fast, fairly priced, and flawless. I was convinced, ahead of the job, that we would need to paint around the windows, given how invasive it is to completely remove a decades-old double-hung window with an entirely new frame and windows. But that was not the case - the new windows were perfect as installed, and no painting was needed. Ken is also principled. Ken made clear that in our bedrooms, we needed to use a casement window In order to meet egress code, and then worked with us to ensure that those casement windows looked Ike traditional double-hung windows to match the rest of the house. Also, one scheduling snafu (a manufacturer's error in the dimensions of one of the ten windows) resulted in a delay, with 9/10 of the windows in place. We offered to pay Ken for the 90% of the job that was completed, but he was adamant that he would not accept payment until the job was done. If you're looking for a no-BS window contractor, I highly recommend Ken.

Wife and I got a Victorian we absolutely Love last year, but the windows were one of the few less than ideal situations in our new home. When the setting sun hit the living room at days end we would avoid being in there because it would stew pretty hot, and in the cool of the morning we had to have our hoodies on as that same room was frigid-basically the weather outside was what it felt like inside. Our preexisting windows were all some janky aluminum jobies from some long time ago. We found Wooden Works just searching our area for a windows shop, and let me tell you- we wound up getting 10 exceptionally crafted new wooden windows installed and now the entire house has its own temperature- we got really really good, really fast, and for what we got the price was much better than decent- a great deal... They worked with us through the entire process and with their input we chose to get hoppers that open at the top, screens on every window, and security glass where they are accessible from stairs. We got Cadillac service at Mazda price, and they cheerfully spent time and energy guiding us. Our new windows were hand built in their little shop in West Oakland where they invited us to view their progress every few weeks, and let me tell you we opted for a natural finish with stain, and our windows look like milk chocolate or espresso- deep lustrous brown that seems to keep going at second glance. Each of our windows is double paned with argon gas layer to maintain environment temperature, and with a few exceptions we were able to have our windows built with hoppers at the top which we can open to let air in and cool things down as needs be. These guys were very timely and each stage of the build was completed well before their stated timeline. Everyone we dealt with in the office were friendly, pleasant, and attentive to our issues and concerns. At no time did we ever feel "Handled;" they seemed genuinely happy getting us what we wanted and needed. As they were working several other bids we requested came in and they were all hundreds over what WW charged us. For what we paid we got GREAT value, and the icing on the cake is that everyone involved was so personable we would've happily paid more and been grateful... They warned us the replacement could take a few months. A year later (ish), we reached out. They said they need to come by again & get the label from the window. We offered a good time (10 a.m. or later on date x). Now again not responding. I would never use this company again & do not recommrnd them. This unnecessary stress is ridiculous. I'm going to talk to my cc company to see what can be done. I'll also be contacting BBB, etc when I have the wherewithal. Luckily, my husband doesn't delete emails, so I have all my documentation.

Where other companies, including Renewal by Anderson, would have suspended the install until after I had another company deal with it, US Window Renewal went the extra yard. They took care of the dry rot immediately, I stalled the garden window, and repaired the stucco. The added cost was much less than hiring a building contractor and was completed without delay. I didn't need to live without the window but for a few extra days. The windows look great (see photos). Quality windows. First class installation...they even added a slanted sill below the garden window. They also stand behind their work Great warranty though I doubt I'll need to call them back.
