This establishment is top tier because of their customer service. Most of the time when I go in, I…read moream greeted by name, and that makes a huge difference. The staff will also try to fulfill a request, or call me whenever something that I have requested gets delivered. The owner has worked with me in the past in purchasing top shelf items and her friendliness is passed down to her staff. Needless to say, South Shore Liquors has become a favorite spot for all of my needs when it comes to beer, wine and spirits!

The employees are employee's are completely rude, rude, rude 100% with the rudest being the owner…read more(believe her name is Sue). The only nice employee's I've ever seen working are both females, one I believe her name that are nice, one is named Melissa or Missy maybe and the other I believe is Amanda, but unfortunately haven't seen her working the few times. I have a 2 businesses in which I use alcohol infused products for both cooking & baking in addition to a beverage I've been working on obtaining a patent for so I usually stop at South Shore quite frequently. In addition to the businesses, I also began a kitten / cat rescue approximately 3 years ago which unfortunately is not glamorous by all means as we rescue cats / kittens in all different places from under porches, inside crawl spaces, flooded basements, in attics, had to open walls up even as they somehow had gotten stuck inside the walls between walls which is difficult enough, then it's the beauty of giving flea baths, coming, treatments, cleaning litter boxes, sanitizing rooms, equipment, etc. I always try to bring a change of clothes when I leave the rescue, however twice over the last year I was unable to change before having to pick up alcohol & was trying to get there at least 10 minutes before they closed since they've locked the door early a few times and I was unable to get what I needed for a recipe early the next morning. Needless to say, the owner was working that day making it VERY noticeable that my clothes obviously smelled bad I'm sure. I apologized & explained I had just left the rescue & rescued from damp, molded abandoned home and been cleaning litter boxes. Now ever since that day, every single time I go back to South Shore Liquors and the owner is working, she literally covers her nose with her scarf. I can also tell she's said something to her employee (who obviously told other employees) as the male looked at me when I went to the door that was locked (they lock one door an hour before closing), he pointed at me and said something to her and prior to me even stepping inside, she covered her nose with her scarf and sprayed an over abundance of disinfectant spray and again this was literally before I stepped a single foot inside the door. I was so embarrassed as other customers noticed it, and that particular day I hadn't even been to the rescue in addition to wearing head to toe brand new clothing down to my new Luis Vuitton platform ankle boots & Sequin Embroidered Crocheted Guipure coat that were both delivered earlier that day (was so thankful as they came just in time as I had an Xmas gathering & was so proud I'd worked hard & finally saved enough to treat myself, lol). I was wearing Versace Bright Crystal perfume spray which isn't strong whatsoever & even had a young man compliment me how good I smelled while I was holding the door for him. As a business owner working with the public, I know I'd never in a million years want to make any customer feel uncomfortable, let alone one who's frequently spends quite a bit weekly. There's so many blue collar workers in NW Indiana, millworkers, construction workers, plumbers (like the ones for example who are building the gas station next door for the owner of South Shore Liquors) ; and you just do not act unprofessional every single time prior to even walking in the door. I also wouldn't say something negative about a customer to an employee who you know will not only gossip, but also does not having the ability to act appropriately or normal afterwards. Needless to say, I'll definitely begin driving an extra 5 minutes to purchase alcohol as not to offend the owner or employees of South Shore Liquors.
