(This review is based off of the actual haircut.) So I go to the shop, and like expressed in other reviews you are greeted and it gives a great feeling. Besides that the haircut was trash. My barber was the young guy with long hair to the far right if you come in the shop. I asked him to do a simple even all over and tapered sides...I may as well asked for him to place a bowl over my head and cut around it. My hair was all jacked up. I'm from Alexandria Virginia and I've lived here my entire life and was totally unaware of Wise Cuts Barbershop. I've been going to the same barber shop for over 15 years. I definitely do not trust just any Barber with cutting my hair but when I took note of how fresh of a cut my friend always had I just had to pay Wise Cuts a visit and boy was I glad I did because I've been going there ever since that first visit. Every barber in the shop is talented so you can't go wrong with anyone in there but personally I get a cut from the owner whose name is Jimmy. Every time I step foot in the shop I am greeted by every barber in there. They make you feel very welcomed. This is also the only shop I know of that has a customer appreciate day! The environment is super chill too with music playing and barbers actually conversing with you and making you just feel right at home. (They are also comedians on the low so I'm always laughing when I'm there) Just speaking on cutting skills I must say this is one of the best shops in the DMV. They are definitely up to date with the most popular & trending hair styles too! Another thing I love about this shop is when I walk in I feel like I'm stepping into my man cave at home with the TV being mounted on the wall and all the sport memorabilia around. The ONLY reason I'm rating this shop a 4 star & not 5 is because if you don't have an appointment you might be waiting a little while. Your best bet is to make one to avoid the possible wait. Don't get me wrong, they will definitely get you taken care of regardless but if you're in a rush you might need to forget about it. This place has terrible customer service, they don't care about their customers. Scheduled an appointment with days ahead, walked in as a first time customer and was not greeted. Sat at my appointment chair with angel and he was very rude. Didn't seem like he wanted to give the service to begin with. I explained what I wanted and he rudely responded "I'll see what I can do." After just a few seconds he said my hair wasn't "clean enough" after I had just washed it l. He refused to give me the haircut and told me "I'll be here tomorrow if you want to reschedule." That was the most unprofessional way I've been ever been treated at a barber shop. DO NOT BOOK WITH ANGEL!! Wisecuts is the best barbershop I've been to. The shop is loaded with cool artwork and memorabilia, setting off a distinct vibe. All the barbers their are phenomenal but Jimmy (the shop owner) is on another level. He cares about each haircut equally and takes his time on every cut. This barber shop is located in a office building. You go upstairs and as soon as you walk in, you get greeted immediately by the barbers. Which is nice because it means that they knowledge you. Soo I been struggling to find a barbershop in the area for years, at least one that's consistently good at their craft. But it all stops here, the service that others wrote are factzzz. Amazing shop, what you hear is true. Once I walked in I was greeted like I enter the GoodBurger of barbershops "Welcome to WiseCut how can I help you". The shop is cool, nice vibe, good music, and positive energy. Jimmy hooked me up, I didnt know exactly how I wanted my cut, but he said " I got chu" and when I left the chair I felt like a new man. These guys are no joke and give one of the best cuts in the DC area. However, the wait time is terrible (1-2 hours just to be seen). Although they take their time with each customer and do an excellent job, you should be aware that getting a fresh cut here usually takes up a good chunk of your day... If you go on a Friday, even if you're one of the first to arrive you can easily expect to wait about two hours. I love the shop, I love the vibes, but the wait time makes me hesitant to get a cut each time because I don't have time to wait like that... I'd rather just pay a little extra elsewhere. read more

One of the best barbershops in the northern Virginia area. Definitely the best one I've been to yet. These guys are experts with the blades. They're not some shape-up junkies (barbers that'll give you a mediocre haircut and try to salvage it by giving you a nice shape-up because that's all they're good at). These guys are the real deal! I've been going to Javier for some time now, and he hasn't let me down yet. That's not to say the other guys aren't just as good, if not better. Jimmy and Will always have a line and are often booked ahead of time. Look them up on Instagram and you'll see the quality of work they do. One thing to take note of is the wait. The haircut alone almost made me want to consider leaving my current Barber because the guy who cut my hair did a phenomenal job. However two factors will probably stop me from returning. 1. The wait time was just plain ridiculous. I wasn't seated for my cut until an hour after my scheduled time. My usual barber is always booked, which is why I came here, but at least when I book an appointment with him, he's ready at the time I asked for. 2. While my barber did a great job, he was constantly talking and stopping while cutting my hair. I have no problem with him talking while cutting my hair, but I do have a problem with waiting for him to actually cut my hair if that makes sense. I've been going to Wisecuts (Burke) for years and ever since the shop owner Jimmy left, the management has gone to shambles. I make an appointment every time and the last 3 times I went the barber was either very late or didn't show up. When they did come late they were rude and acted as if I was at fault. I have never had an appointment be on time but I've been going for so long because I didn't know of any barbershops. All I'm saying is don't get in the Wisecuts trap. Without an appointment don't even go into this place. I set and waited 2 hours for a haircut and watched a study flow of customers walk in and head straight to a chair. Even if the barber is free they are waiting on their next customer. Singing the book mean nothing. I watched the only lady that work there put a sign outside that said Barber shop. They should have on that sign "By appointment only". I never got a haircut. I just left after 2 hours because I could go to my regular barber that charge $15 for a professional haircut and it's first come first serve. read more

Just moved into the Burke Area from Falls Church and was looking for a place to get a quick cut for me and the boy. Came across WiseCuts on yelp and thought we would try it out because of all the positive reviews. We were not disappointed. Great cut...even greater fade. We were greeted like we were old classmates from the crew there and everyone seem to be laid back. I've been back a few times now and have tried different barbers and still no complaints. If your looking for a great haircut from a great bunch of guys this is the place. They do a great job and keep up with the latest fads and trends also. Not saying I need any of that. As usual with places like this the problem is always lack of professionalism time and time again, first time I tried this place i made a reservation online randomly, I show up, was 5 mins late and the guy had an attitude about that... ok my bad whatever, then he comes in sees that I have dreadlocks which i wanted to completely chop off.. without even asking me what It is that i wanted done, he proceeded to tell me what he not gonna do... that he doesnt "do that type of hair" so now youre insulting my intelligence because i clearly know wtf I am but whatever... i told him i wanted it all cut off then he started acting ok, i wasnt really satisfied with the cut i got but what could i do? He cut it so quick i couldnt say anything .... i gave them another chance after that.. had an appointment for 6:15, did not get seen until 7:30 when i did get seen haircut was ok, guy asks me do i want him to shape me up, i said sure so he gives me this basic shapeup nd at the end of the haircut after waiting more than an hr for my appointment tries to finesse me out of 10$ .. the haircut which i selected was 25$ and he knows that , but then he says oh you said a shape up too so that 10$ extra, im like well you delayed me an hr so cant you be fair ? This is the barbershop experience I remember as a kid. It's like family atmosphere in there, plenty of cross talk, and barbers who know how to cut hair without telling them a shaver number setting. I should have made an appointment, as like others, I waited for at least an hour. The staff was friendly, and all the cuts I saw them work on while I was there were great, including my own. They allow you to sign in and leave to go run errands if it's too busy. The barbers all know how to use a straight razor, which is not common anymore. The experience when you walk in is amazing.
