I had been desperately craving steak so my boyfriend and I decided to try Witherspoon since it was only 20 mins away from us. I forgot to check how parking was so I was relieved when we saw all of the garages around the area. We had a 2pm reservation on Sunday and were seated immediately. Someone in front of us did not make a reservation and it was a 45 min wait so I'm glad we made the reservation! It began to get empty around 3pm but I'm assuming it got busy again for dinner hours. Our waiter was a dream and was really patient with us (we were VERY indecisive). We asked for drink recommendations (the pineapple cosmo was 10/10), and eventually settled on the porterhouse for two and a few sides. The steak was cooked perfectly and we were definitely satisfied. The outdoor seating was very comfortable, and the restaurant is in a cute part of town. We had to walk off all of the food afterwards and ended up walking around Princeton's campus and grabbed coffee on our way back to the garage. One of our all time favorite restaurants..EVER. When we lived in Princeton, we would come at least once a month. There, we became excellent friends with the front of house manager and because of her friendly demeanor and bubbly personality, this place immediately felt like home. The food is excellent. The ambiance indoor is pretty nice, outside seating didn't look anything fancy. The staff was friendly and despite being Sunday afternoon, we were able to get a table without prior reservation. Our friends took us there and everything, from service to quality to selection were great. We had their oyster tasting and they were fresh, briny and tasty. I then had the warm goat Cheese salad which was nicely composed and seasonally flavored with nuts and cranberries. Their Turkey entrée was a large portion of moist Turkey, a traditional stuffing scented with sage and creamy potatoes accompanied by a rich gravy, a tart cranberry sauce and a side of Brussels sprouts. It was such a homey and well thought out menu and graciously served meal by a professional staff with a welcoming and genuine smile. Came here for Valentine's Day dinner and had a decent but not amazing time. First, I have to note that my view during dinner was super nice - the illuminated square was a really romantic backdrop. The ambiance in the restaurant was chill too (although I think they made the lights a little too dim!) and although we were seated reasonably close to our neighboring diners, I didn't feel claustrophobic about it. The food was decent but I wouldn't say it was worth the price. We started off with the standard bread and butter, but one significant issue was that the butter was super cold and therefore not spreadable at all on the bread. The bread was near room temperature too, so it was definitely a battle to create an effective slab of bread and butter. The butter was pretty tasty and the bread was OK, so I wasn't too sad, but I would recommend they change up the temperatures. I got the lobster bisque for a starter (it was good) and a special skirt steak entree for my main course. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare and it was 100% cooked a little more, but it was still tasty. But it was something like $37, so you kind of expect everything to be virtually perfect at that price point. My main issue with my meal was our server, who was reasonably responsive but came across as a bit irritable. Most importantly, a busser asked her a question about the table number associated with some food, and she was super rude to him. She literally said, "What's the matter with you?" and told him he needed to put on his glasses in a derogatory manner. It obviously made us uncomfortable (and our table neighbors also looked weirded out), so big thumbs down to that. It should be a given that you shouldn't chastise someone in the dining room (and, honestly, it's not a great look even if done in private. Treat people with respect!). Anyway, not sure if we'll be back, but there are definite positives to this place even though we didn't love everything about our meal. read more

We had a reservation and despite checking in with the hostesses before going to the bar, after going to the bar, and 15 minutes after our reservation time, the front house team seemed surprised when we checked a fourth time. One of the hostesses apologized for the wait and said a nice table in the main room was being set for us, then we watched the other hostess seat another other couple there. I've visited the restaurant dozens of times at least and I've never had a bad meal. the menu items are always fresh and very well prepared. as far as the value for what you get goes, they can be a bit pricey but in my opinion, still worth it for the quality of both food and service that you're receiving. The waitstaff is always pleasant and knowledgeable. The cocktails are creative and tasty. Difficult place to get a reservation on weekends so book ahead of time. The outdoor dining option is also fantastic on a nice warm day. My favorite dishes are their seasonal salads and sandwiches, mac & cheese and believe it or not their Hash Brown.. its like a large tasty potato pancake! I'm not a huge fan of Key lime pie but somehow this place has it right. So yummy, It's always nicely garnished with whipped cream, a mint leaf, fresh blueberries, blackberries and powdered sugar! Over all, the menu is always enjoyable. The service is very good and it has a fun bar scene as there bartenders are some of the best in the area. Originally we had a reservation at Agricolaeatery but they gave us a lousy table even with reservation, we walked out.The place was empty on Monday nite at 6pm but Agricola refused to give us a nice table! We just walked down to Witherspoon and asked for a table. We got a very nice table by the window and a very friendly waitress. She answered all our questions and was very thoughtful! We started with dozen fresh oysters and they were fresh. My husband loved his braised short rib on bed of creamy mashed potatoes. My sister enjoyed her baked cod with vegetables. My daughter liked her creamy scrumptious lobster risotto. I enjoyed my chilled seafood tower which came with shrimp, mussels, clams, oyster, lobster and crab claw. Asked and added horse radish and Tabasco to the cocktail sauce to give a kick. We enjoyed our main course with a bottle of sauvignon blanc. We shared a pound cake to finish our meal. We just rang in New Year's Eve here and they did an unbelievable job! It was decorated so classy...felt like one of my old (nyc) village haunts. They had incredible live music (amazing), party favors for all and a champagne toast at midnight...not to mention the food was obviously delicious as always! Witherspoon is one those places that is consistently great and they have such an extensive menu that even the pickiest diner will be pleased. Our favorite starters (to name a few) are the fresh lump crab (I always ask for extra sauces on the side), the French onion soup (yum!) and the warm artichoke and crab dip as well as the spinach dip are both outstanding! I can honestly base my entire meal on these items alone! My man swears by the steaks, burgers and short-rib mac and cheese! Try the mac in general...it's to die for! You need to allow some time for this dish so make sure to order it ASAP. You won't regret it! I also love the salmon, risotto options and like any great grill they have the best side dishes (the baked potatoes are 1 of my fav...never dry!) They also have unique specials every night. So I don't know what you are all used to in Princeton but I'm surprised this spot isn't 5 stars. The food was very excellent. My wife just got a job in NJ. I decided to pick her up from work. Our friend suggested fetching dinner in Princeton. Having never been there I quickly agreed. We got there and went to our initial pick. However it turned out to be a sports bar so I said pick again. We walked around and scopes out the area. Beautiful area I must say. So we came to this place. It's 74 with a slight breeze and they had outside seating. The outside seating gave us a wonderful vantage point for our new discovery. The live music really helped set the mood. We ordered crab cocktail for starter. That was truly awesome. Then I got the steak salad. Which IMHO was one of the best I've ever had. The tomatoes were so ripe and the dressing had a little sweetness to it. My wife got the sweet corn ravioli. I did not sample hers. She said it was light on the sauce. She really liked that it wasn't a super heavy dish. "You know how ravioli always has like a really thick sauce?" First restaurant I've dined at since COVID hit and was EXTREMELY disappointed. I would NEVER go here again NOR would I ever recommend it. We were a party of 6, so there was an already a 20% guaranteed tip for the waiter. Good for him because he pretty much neglected us. Firstly, we waited almost 15 mins before the waiter came to take drink orders. It then took another 15-20 to get them and then order our meals were taken. It then took almost another 40mins for our food to arrive. I ordered the short rib Mac & cheese. The table was cautioned that this dish takes a bit and could delay when the rest of the meals were served. That's fine, thanks for the heads up. My meal came out cold and the cheese that they put on top was ice cold--it was crunchy from ICE CHIPS. I had to ask another member of the wait staff to take my food back to be warmed and to complain about the frozen cheese because our waiter was nowhere to be found. that staff member told me that the cheese was purposefully cold because it was kept in a freezer. In fact our waiter didn't come back till it was time to clear the table. My husband ordered a burger and fries with caramelized onions and grilled mushrooms. The mushrooms didn't come with the burger and had to re-ask for them. His fries were not golden brown, but an anemic white and looked like they came out of a frozen pre-made bag. I'm not saying frozen fries are bad, but for an $18 burger and fries, the fries should be fresh made. All the the cooked veggies I saw on our party's plates looked frozen, not fresh. This is not ok especially when the average price of a dish is $27. This meal took almost 2.5 hours. We didn't order appetizers or desserts. Located in a cute courtyard, there is an outdoor patio around the front of the restaurant that is dog friendly! We indulged in brunch with bread pudding French toast and king salmon hash. There is an extensive wine list and nice cocktails to choose from. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was filling, so we walked it off by exploring Nassau Street. We parked at the parking garage behind this restaurant. It was cold this past Friday night and stumbled upon this restaurant, more like it was first restaurant we saw walking from garage. It was crowded and decided to try here. We got so lucky finding a two-top bar table and sat right in. This place is not a college-age place. A more older crowd, which was perfect for us! It was a little loud, so you do have to talk in a raised voice. They have a decent wine by glass selection for my friend and I got a nice prepared pear martini. The complimentary bread with its room temperature butter was a great way to start our meal. We both ordered the steak salads and was overall quite pleased with our entrees.
