My teenagers went with their friends. They had a great time! I think they'd definitely want to go back again.

This by far was one of the most fun times I have had with all my kids. They range from 14 to 21. And ALL had a blast! The interaction with the staff was amazing and made it memorable. We are all eating pizza talking about how much fun it was and we wish they had more rooms! Definitely worth every cent. I am not fond of Haunted houses, so I was hesitant! Don't be. Honestly, I have been to my fair share of Escape rooms and let me tell you, this one was by far the worst. My friends and I came in expecting something amazing, especially after we read the prior reviews, but boy we were wrong. The staff was rude, the room was plain, and my friends and I thoroughly did not enjoy our experience. After arriving right at the start of our planned time they still did not let us in the room where they basically took our money and said to come back another day and try to be on time next time. My advice, take your money and time elsewhere because this establishment simply wastes both. read more

We went for my son's birthday. It was an excellent experience. We have never done one before. The staff member was thorough and great energy. It definitely makes you think and work together. We did it with 2 adults and 3 14 year olds. Not too easy, but not drive you crazy difficult. We finished with nine minutes to spare. The story line was great and in depth. The room was set up perfect! There was definitely a lot of time invested in putting the room together and detailed. We will definitely be doing another one if the theme every changes. Our family had a great time! The puzzles were just the right balance of difficulty. A couple of times we got stuck and we heard suggestions through the little transistor radio from "the other side." The attendant told us only about 25% of groups of 4 actually solve all the clues and escape the room. They have another room we want to try soon. read more

Loved this experience! The staff was so kind and helpful and truly made this a unique experience for myself and three kids as we celebrated a 13th birthday. I booked Ghost Chamber for a private, 6-person group in celebration for my boyfriend's birthday. It was our first time doing an escape room and it was AWESOME. The clues were meticulously thought out yet hard enough to keep us on our toes (and panicking at some points) but easy enough to finish with 1 minute and 20 seconds to spare! The ambience, props and special effects were SO creepy that we had a few screamers in our group (me included). The only minor thing was the blacklight not working, but our attendant quickly fixed it without ruining the experience. I would definitely recommend this escape room! read more

First off...let me say that my group's escape was scheduled for 7:30PM and this room was located near Downtown Riverside where we were asked multiple times by homeless people for change while waiting for our game masters to let us in to the room...so be prepared for that if you plan on doing the escape later in the day. It wasn't too hard to find the room since there was a sign in front of the door and it's on a relatively busy street. Onto the room experience...our game masters' costumes matched the theme of the room pretty well so I thought that was pretty neat. They set the scene really well and there was a cool video before the room started which added to the immersive factor of the room. We also had asked to use the restrooms beforehand so we had to go through the room in complete darkness so as not to spoil anything for us. FYI, you'll have to go through the room you'll be escaping out of to use the restrooms. The props, music and effects were one of the best I've seen for a room escape and this was my 24th room escape. The "creepy" factor was just right and the puzzles/riddles were decent. The "tools" they gave us were pretty neat and relevant to the room and made it that much more interactive for everyone. Highly recommend this room and can't wait to see you what else they have in store for the future! read more

Came here for my boyfriend's birthday in February and just remembering to review. We had a phenomenal time - I just asked him how many stars I should give and he said six so... The facility is impeccably done and the staff was very friendly. This is a room where you WILL absolutely need clues. You can't figure it out on your own by any means so its less about the problem-solving and more about taking in the experience of the room. I've done two other escape rooms and I felt the least in control of the story line in this one but the awesome props, surprises, and intricacies of the room kept me engaged and excited for the hour. There were smaller puzzles you had to decipher but it would've been impossible without help. We got out. On the scariness... so, it hindsight, I was more scared then I should've been which limited my participation tbh. Nothing that scary happens BUT it is a spooky environment. Don't want to say too much. You should definitely go, this is dope that Riverside has this! read more

I discovered the room through a Groupon and found there was a much better deal through the company's website! The puzzles were also much better than we expected. Three of us went in and it worked out well. 4-6 players are probably ideal. Several puzzles can be solved simultaneously, but your team needs to communicate effectively and often as it's unlikely that you'll discover all the clues in sequence. The technology and mystery are a great combination! The staff was super nice, perhaps slightly too helpful in our prep discussion. This place needs to be celebrated though: it's locally created, run and owned. There is definitely artistry and love put into The Curiosity Shop. Put this escape room on your must-do list. My daughter asked to do an escape room for her 21st birthday. I usually check Groupon or Living Social for things before going direct. This escape room popped up and it was near where I lived. We had dinner plans that night so I didn't want to drive far. I always read reviews first and I have to say, my expectations were high because of reviews and they were met. It was super easy to book our time online even using the Groupon. We had a group of 5 with another person adding on last minute. I called it in and they were helpful in letting me add him in our group. You have the room to yourself. There are no characters ready to jump out but there are a few things that will surprise you. It was different than others we have done where you have to escape - this was on a paranormal level which we loved. The clues were very well organized and not missing. We had no problem going from one to the next clue. Having the tools to help us along the way was very helpful and a different way of giving clues when needed. Some you have to hit a button and the person would just speak over a loud speaker. This was very different and plays into the theme of the game. The room theme and decor was very cool and we liked the fact that if an answer was in one item, there were several to choose from instead of being so easy to find. We wanted a challenge but nothing where we found it too hard to move forward to the next clue. The clues do make you think but not feel stupid if you can't get them. It was my husband and I with 4 young adults ages 18-21. It was the kids first time and they really enjoyed it. We recommend this place, you should definitely check it out! read more

As a first-time participant for any sort of escape room experience, I had my doubts about the amount of fun I would be having upon my arrival to The Curiosity Shop. We were a close group of four, two of our party members had previously done an escape room but my other companion and I had not. Arriving on the street, the shop seemed quaint from the outside and lacked the impact I had been expecting for my first time. However, it worked for itself by added an ominous air with its blacked-out windows and sign. The street was quiet enough as it was, and while we were waiting for our appointed time I read and signed the waiver that seemed typical with slight jokes intertwined in the legal jargon. Next of kin should apparently be aware of what you're getting yourself into. I was an anxious wreck. Surely there couldn't have been a worse room for my best friend to pick for my first time than a paranormal investigation, forcing me to face my worst fear of ghosts. The staff that greeted us were very informative and friendly, happy to answer our questions and explain to the best of their ability what we were going to experience without giving too much away. After our orientation, we were led inside the shop and presented with a video to start us off on our investigation. Tools! Riddles! Clues! It took me a good ten minutes to calm my nerves to the best of my ability as I immersed myself into the wonderful story and world that had been built for us. There were jump scares and plenty of shouts or yelps on my part peppered into the investigation as we continued to go through the story. With our group of four, we managed to divide and conquer the puzzles making sure to do plenty of communication in the process. It's the key! Talk about everything you find. We solved the room with twenty minutes to spare, just a few minutes shy of breaking the record set by another group. Based on what my other friends said about their own escape room experiences in Los Angeles, this was a perfect starter one for anyone who is doing this for the first time. I plan on spreading the word about this place to my friends and family and can't wait for Wizards and Wires to update their story so we can come back again and have fun. They did a fantastic job; so much so that I'm going to have trouble sleeping for the rest of the week. read more

We made it out, had a great team. It was soooo much fun. It was very challenging and we barely made It out with a minute and 57 seconds to spare. It is creepy in there, I jumped a couple of times. Very good time. Try it you will not be disappointed. There's sooo many clues and very fun gadgets such as black lights and so many fun riddles that really get you thinking. Word of advice DO NOT OVERTHINK. We almost didn't make it out because we were overthinking certain clues. Make sure to utilize the tools you are given! And definitely be prepared to jump a few times and have a good time! read more

I haven't been to an escape room before, and didn't know what to expect. I went to the Curiousity shop with my daughter and 5 friends. We had a great time. As soon as we went in, there was a eerie feeling and my mind was filled with thoughts of, why I'm I doing this ? Then the countdown clock started and it was time to figure out how to get out. The room takes you into a place mentally that you don't expect from a shop in Downtown Riverside. We all were new to this, and worked together on all the clues and riddles. We made it out, alive... We had so much fun. The staff was very nice, and was great to us. They mentioned that they are working on opening another room. We can't wait to do this again. The Curiousity shop is something that you should try. Perfect for a group outting, a family night out, or a date night. read more

I proposed and she said yes!!!! Starting with the escape room itself, it's awesome and very well thought out. A few of us have done 1 prior to this and the rest were first timers. Everyone was able to get involved and play vital roles. It does have it's challenges for sure, but absolutely doable for anyone! Now to the juicy part! Nicole helped me plan the most original, amazing, perfect proposal ever. I won't go into to too much detail, but it was PERFECT. The whole team over at the Curiosity Shop got involved and staged an incredible experience for myself, our family and my now fiance (she said yes). :) I couldn't thank everyone over there enough, especially Nicole! Stopped I'm last night to check out this escape room. The guy working it was really cool and the gadgets were fun to use. I think this is a good one for beginners as in my opinion the puzzles aren't super difficult, they do get more challenging ad the game progresses, but the game doesn't allow you to vear too far off course, which is good if you're into that sort of thing. read more
