We started the tradition about 10 years ago, if family or visitors are not around then we eat Chinese food at a local buffet as our Christmas dinner. This year was no exception. I called days ahead to make sure my visiting daughter, my dad and I will be able to eat Christmas dinner at a local buffet. When we arrived at 5pm...there was already a line to be seated! When we finally got to sit down, boy we feasted. Good selection of sushi roll, not dried out, the food bins were fully stocked, you never had to scrape up the left overs and the crab Rangoon was delish. AND YES, THEY HAD SEAWEED AND SQUID SALAD!!!! H-E-A-V-E-N As many people going up to the buffet lines, the area was clean. the buffet area was clearly away from the seating area and we had room to move around and away from people double fisting their food. After we gorged ourselves, we managed to "wok and rolled" out of the place only to be greeted by people waiting in line to go in the buffet hall. Guess everyone had the same idea. I gave it a 4 only because it was your typical Chinese food. Now I will go back and give it a try during regular non holiday time frame. If I could I would give it a 4.5 stars. I paid with my card. And the waiter looked at the receipt and then looked at me, then said "no tip?" If he had waited just a second more, he would have seen I was going to pull out cash and use that for the tip instead of putting it on the card. Doesn't he realize that customers don't have to leave a tip? But we do it because we appreciate them giving us good service. We ended up coming here because our favorite sushi place was closed for the holiday. When I found it on Yelp, I honestly didn't realize that it was a buffet. When ordering over the phone the staff was friendly and courtesy and upon my arrival the service was good as well. The food was mediocre. I have to be honest I never expect buffet food to be delicious, especially sushi. My wife and I ordered some Philly rolls and miso soup. The sushi wasn't bad, but it just didn't taste quite like the Philly rolls we get at our usual spot, or any other Japanese restaurant for that matter. As far as the miso soup, it was ok. Honestly, it was a little less flavorful than we're used to so we ended up seasoning it a bit more when we got home. Finally we did get fortune cookies that were pretty good! We have had two issues at this place, and will not go back for a third try. The first one, the sushi chef did not wash his hands after going to the bathroom. Yes, we reported this to a manager! Then tonight as we were going to the Sushi area, my fiancé sees a roach, crawling along the counter between the displays. So disgusting! You have got to be kidding me! Came here for lunch today and I must say that I'm impressed. The lunch buffet is about $11 per person, and for the quality of food, this is definitely a good value! They offer Chinese and Japanese options and there's a lot to choose from. Between a wide array of sushi, many hot dishes, soup and salad, and dessert, it was hard to try everything I wanted to. Our dishes were promptly picked up and our water was refilled quickly and often. The decor is modern and simple, but it still has a buffet type of vibe. We sat right by the buffet --nice easy access-- and there's at least one skylight in that room, adding some excellent natural lighting. Wok&Roll is one of the fairly new restaurants on the scene, having opened about six months ago. I was impressed. The restaurant has an open and comfortable feel. Word on the street is that this was once a Sizzler's steakhouse. But it feels completely different. I like the light motifs on the walls, which complements well with the dark wood vinyl and brickwork. It gives the space a slight feel of sophistication unlike many buffets, which, quite honestly, are too often dank, sticky pits -lowly culinary hangouts. So, yes, I appreciate that Wok&Roll was some brightness to it. The benefit also comes from a couple of skylights installed. Great idea there. You get the option of sitting in the booth near the buffet lines, or on the other side, which has a nice barrier wall that helps to drown out the sound from the buffet. There is also a back room. I appreciated the immediate greeting from a host, who provided a booth seat promptly. Also, the service is very attentive and kind. Christina, who served me on my first visit, is especially helpful. For us introverts, there's a warning. The place gets pretty busy, and while the acoustics do a pretty good job muffling the noise, you are bound to run into folks who are entirely too loud and fall to the lower end of the scale when it comes to manners. This seems true of most buffets - why is that, I wonder? Now, to the eats. I went for the Sunday buffet, which costs about $16 (they only serve the dinner buffet rate on Sundays). You can also offer from the menu, with sushi starting in around $2.50. The buffet is staffed by two sushi chefs, which replenish the boards on the regular. You have the option of sashimi, nigiri and rolls. I found that the sushi was pretty good! Pretty good. Sure, the salmon wasn't bursting with luster, the wasabi wasn't spicy and the boards could have used a quick wipe down - as some were caked with sauces. But most everything was tasty. The rice was prepared well, too - not dried out at all. The variety is great. There are several rows of hot food with offerings that include baked salmon, rangoons, chow mein, lo mein, honey chicken, beef with broccoli, pepper steak, crab legs and several soups. I love that they clearly mark the names of their food! Also, their steamed rice has an especially light and fluffy flavor. Very good! Also, Wok&Roll provides an entire section devoted to salads. I love living dangerously by visiting seafood buffets when I'm allergic to shellfish! But don't worry, there was still plenty for me to eat. At first I was a little concerned. There was only 1 hostess, and a party of nine came in before us. They made us (and the three parties behind us) stand and wait at the hostess station at least 10 minutes before acknowledging us. Normally, I would have left, but once they did acknowledge us, service was spot on. The restaurant was clean, and a good variety of food. My husband was very pleased with the sushi and sashimi section and made several trips. I have one big complaint- the sushi was not labeled with ingredients. I knew I was safe with Philly rolls, spicy tuna and the tuna/avocado rolls, but I did not know what was in the other rolls. On the positive side, once I told them about my allergy, I received my own serving tongs and I utilized the disposable gloves for using the serving utensils on the other serving stations. (Have you noticed all those people eating crab legs with their hands then going up and grabbing the serving spoons?!) We really enjoyed their soups especially the hot and sour. So many shrimp entree! But just as many chicken entrees. As with all buffets, some entrees were good and some were not that great, but we definitely ate our fill. Almost empty trays with dry food and a rude employee. My wife and I arrived at 7:20 on Monday, which was over 2 hours before the closing time of the restaurant, and most trays were almost empty and food looked dry. I asked a server to refill the stir-fried shrimp tray and she said OK, but they did not refill the shrimp tray even though they did refill steamed rice and stir-fried noodle. When I finally asked the sever about the shrimps after waiting for almost 30 minutes, she said "Little English," and brought another employee. The new employee said the shrimp tray was not empty, pointing the few remaining shrimps in the tray, and that we could eat them. She was genuinely unhappy that my wife and I asked for fresh food when there were not many customers remaining in the hall. I told her that I asked them to refill the food almost 2 hours before the closing time and that they should not have let us in if they were not going to serve fresh food. She insisted that the trays were not empty and she got upset when my wife said she would not have leftover dry food and that they were supposed to serve fresh food to paying customers. The argument went on and my wife asked to talk to the manager or the owner, but the employee stayed next to us blaming me and my wife even after I asked her to leave three times. The manager finally came and offered to bring freshly cooked shrimps for us, but my wife and I had already lost appetite by then so I rejected the offer. The manager never apologized for not having fresh food or for the employee's attitude, but at least he did not blame me and my wife for asking for fresh food. read more

Totally Disgusting! We had lunch here on Christmas Day. Literally everything I put in my mouth was gross. The spareribs were totally fat. There was not one bite of meat on any of them. The egg rolls and the wontons w/ cream cheese were both soggy from the grease- and were cold. I took two salt and pepper shrimp- both still had the vein it it- hence my picture. Chinese people who deal with seafood every day should KNOW to get the shrimp clean. The vein in shrimp my friends is the shrimp's intestines- their poop shoot. Yummy. At least ten different rolls to choose from including a vegetarian options for those who seek it. On top of hand crafted sushi the cooked buffet is extensive with all the classics. Quick lunch and I was craving Asian food. I did not realize this restaurant only offers a Buffet. I'm not usually a fan of Buffett food especially Asian Buffets. They do offer a Sushi Buffet Bar with basic rolls like Spivey Tuna, Avocado and California Rolls. The Chinese food on the Buffet was very bland and low quality. The food you would expect on a Chinese Buffet like sweet and sour chicken, Beef and vegetables and a variety of fried food. I have to say the food all tasted the same. I tried a lot and are almost nothing. I would not recommend this restaurant for quality of food but the server was nice and fast and the restaurant was clean. We were seated in a private back area without a reservation. There were 6 of us. They saw that we were holding a birthday cake so they asked who's birthday it was. I answered it was mine so he took a look at my ID and gave me a discount. I got the same percentage off as the number of years old I am. We all hit the sushi first. I tried every type and there were about 20 to try. It was all incredibly delicious. I then grabbed a plate of the other food there. All delicious. The fried stuff was all crispy. The various dishes were your typical americanized asian food. They did it well. They also have ice cream you can scoop up yourself. And some other desserts. Everyone agreed it was worth the money. On the weekends they have crab legs and other seafood. It's a couple bucks more but worth it. Oh and they were nice enough to bring us everything we needed to cut and serve the cake. Have come here three times and have been loving it! If you arrive on a weekday (Mon-Thurs) then you get the general Asian buffet experience. Lots of fun and familiar dishes (like sesame or orange chicken) and they also have sushi (lots of different pieces and an overall decent variety to keep people happy). But if you come on the weekends, they have a slight upcharge for seafood nights. This includes crab legs, lots of shrimp dishes, etc. I am a huge fan of their chicken dishes. Lots of places use cheaper chicken cuts for the buffet and you'll get pieces of fat, or hard pieces of chicken, etc. Here they use really great cuts of chicken and several dishes are made entirely with white meat chicken. Yum! I'm a huge fan of the sesame, orange, and thai style chicken. But they have such a variety! On seafood nights, I really love the bacon wrapped shrimp. They also have a thai style shrimp that is really good. They have crawdads, crab legs, and they have these cute little seafood pies (I have no idea what is in them, I just love them though!). Everything has been really fun and for a few dollars more it is a great deal. Sushi is good. On weekends they even have sashimi. They have lots of rolls out. Occasionally they have a few pieces that have dried out from sitting but this can be typical of any buffet. In that case I like to eat around it and they don't give you issues about having some hard rice left on the plate. You can also watch them make it and wait for a fresh roll if you're happier with that. They do have desserts. They have the typical little pieces of cake, some cookies, fruits, and they have a banana vanilla wafer pudding that I really like. Sure, I could make it at home, but I really do like having it here. They also have ice cream -- lots of flavor choices if you want to end your meal with some ice cream. The only food here I'm uncertain of is the lo mein. I swear they look like spaghetti noodles. I've never seen lo mein look exactly like this... it is odd but I've just started getting other things. Service is ok, hence my reduction of one star. They'll refill your drink maybe once before you have to start flagging someone down. I do understand that the employees are running around picking up lots of plates, and thus have a lot on their plate, but getting a refill shouldn't require having to constantly flag them down. I've noticed that if you get water (I like water with my meals) they're quicker to refill those than they are teas, soda, etc. I'm not sure if that's just my perception but it certainly seems to be the case. They are kid-friendly. One night, there were no kids when I came, and I liked it. Another venture there were LOTS of kids but they actually seemed to be under control. I don't mind seeing kids at buffets. As long as they're behaving and not messing with the food. On the last outing here, I was sat next to a family with a kid who kept getting up and tossing food around. Keep in mind: This is not the fault of the establishment. This is the fault of the parents who didn't seem concerned about the actions of their child, and really could have done a better parenting job. If you're in this situation, I advise you to turn around and smile at the parents a few times. Get them thinking. Eventually, I turned and told the little kid "Throwing food is naughty" and he sat down and stopped. WOW, can you imagine, if you just tell them to behave they can! Parents were upset with me, but if they're not going to parent, someone has to. So for those in these reviews upset that this place has kids there sometimes... so do most places. I'm likely biased, because I do not believe sushi or Chinese food should ever be on a buffet, but my fiance and I were looking for dinner, and he wanted to try it. I would definitely rank this higher than the Chinese buffet that's near I-10 and Cortaro. None of the food was awful, and the price is fine for all-you-can-eat, but I wouldn't return. None of the hot foods were very hot. The sushi was okay. I imagine if you come when they put fresh food out, it wouldn't be too bad. They had ice cream, but the texture indicated it had melted and been refrozen. The server was nice, but because it's a buffet, you don't interact much. It seemed mostly clean, but there were some flies buzzing around, which is never appetizing. Eh, I don't know. If you like buffets and are really hungry, you would probably like Wok & Roll, and it was better than other Chinese buffets. That's the first and last time I'd eat here though, but that's because I believe in quality over quantity when it comes to what I eat. read more
