Food okay. Nothing great. Charged $11 for noodles teriyaki chicken that should have been in a bowl but instead out it in a entree box to charge me more. Then, I go back in 5 minutes later for a refill of the fountain drink, and wanted to charge me 75 cents for a refill? Mind you, I'm a service professional in my plumbers uniform. Being a regular, I can call ahead and pick up, with food ready and on time. Best place to feed my hungry teenagers with favorite orders of large "to go" boxes of Orange Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken, Pork BBQ and Chow Mien noodles when there's no time to cook. Separate order of Tofu with eggplant, chicken curry, jalapeño chicken and more for the adult palate. Their food is always freshly cooked ... Unless you go there closing time of course! Try not to come at the wrong time when it's really busy, they might ran out of food and have to wait and cook Orange Chicken for 10 minutes ...or it's already closing time when there's barely food left. I needed a quick Chinese food fix and I went to the closest Chinese fast food place that was inexpensive and easy to get. Wok California in the city of Norwalk claims on the menu that it is the "Best Mandarin Cuisine...Fast Fresh & Health Not Greasy," no joke, that is really what it stated on the dine in/to go menu. It is "Health" as opposed to "healthy", hmm perhaps buying the "y" was too expensive to place on the menu, or maybe the money they were going to spend to add the "y" to "health" was better spent on the word "greasy." Grammar aside, this place had fast service and the food was OK. I suggest getting the 3 item special combination because it costs $5.99 and you get more food for your money. I ordered the chicken curry, orange chicken, and mandarin pork chop with half fried rice and half chow mein. Here's a tip, ask to place an item in a smaller separate container such as the orange chicken because it seems as though more food is placed in a separate container and this will really stretch your dollar and your stomach! So if you have a craving for some quick Chinese food and you are in the Norwalk area, then walk into Wok California! read more

Chinese fast food places are a dime a dozen, but I find this place a cut above the rest. Why? It's less greasy, for one. I found the fried rice and noodles less greasy than other joints. And believe it or not, they have a couple of somewhat healthy choices. The mushroom tofu is the best and the dish with the beans is great. They also have orange fish, as oppose to orange chicken. Every time I visit, the dishes seem to be freshly made. You can't beat the prices too! It's cheaper than other Chinese food places. The combos can feed up to 3-4 people easily. I ultimately love the food here but, there's a servers attitude that is making me no want to come here ever again. She skimps out on portions and just has an underlying attitude that just pisses me off. I was getting two orders of rice and chow main bowls. I was making the order with the taller older lady who I have no problem with but here comes the old Asian lady with reddish hair and takes one of the bowls and interrupts the first server to ask me what I want on the second bowl. I just told her I wanted the BBQ "beef". To my mistake its really pork, and I know this, it's just that the word beef slipped out my mouth. She then starts a mini rant about how they don't have BBQ beef only pork and that if I really want the pork or the beef but I can't have both on the bowl. I assume I gave a baffled face because that was my emotion. I just tell her to give me the BBQ pork and that I made a mistake in the naming. She then serves me a couple of chunks of BBQ pork and then serves a a couple of chunks of orange chicken on the second bowl. I then ask her politely if I can get some more orange chicken since there's a lack of in the bowl. She says "I will charge you $1 more". Really!? Just $1 more so you can fill my bowl with the normal amount of chicken? F@&k You. She then proceeds to double charge my credit card thinking its a debit card even though I clearly told her it was a credit card. She canceled one of te charges but dam!? I've ha no issues with anyone else but this old Asian lady with reddish hair and too much makeup. As I said the food is good it's just this lady that thinks she is te ultimate authority. read more

I really enjoy this Chinese joint. It a small hole on the wall but the food is delicious. I've been coming here for about 10 years now, and the staff is incredibly nice. They always hand me free fortune cookies for me and all my family. The price is affordable for a meal. It comes with the option of chow Mein or Rice, then you get to select two sides. My favorite has to be the orange chicken and BBQ Pork. The orange chicken is the best, always flavorful and rich in taste. The Chow Mein is probably my favorite of them all. Sometimes I walk in just to take home an order of Chow Mein. Overall, great food and customer service. I highly recommend this place to anybody who craves Chinese food read more

I went to get dinner and as soon as I ordered the server made my first plate. The second plate she said they can't make Kung Pow Chicken because it's too late. I walked in at 8:05 pm. She said they can't just make one side. Then I waited to talk to the other server. Meanwhile she answered her cell phone and ran her fingers through her hair. Without washing her hands she grab my second plate and I told her not to touch my plate. I asked for the manager. She said no manager there. I never see a manager. I ask for a number I could call and she said no one can help me. A customer behind me told me to go on yelp and complain. I want the owner/manager to know what is going on. I grew up coming to Wok California. The food was always good, not great, just good. Sometimes tastes like it's a few days old. Today I went and it was horrible. The service was poor, the ladies were rude and acted like they wanted to be no where near the restraunt. And they had nothing fresh! I had to wait about 10 minutes for my beef and broccoli, and they barely even gave me a full scoop. Their white rice is hard, it could break my teeth. Will I come back? I used to visit this place for a quickie lunch, because it sure is quick. But diners beware: after eating the jalapeno chicken for lunch, I became violently ill in the evening. I barfed on the hour every hour for 8 straight hours. That was Friday. Besides wanting to actually die, what really bothered me was that I couldn't do anything all weekend. And we all know the weekend is sacred. As I recall, I managed to eat two saltine crackers for dinner on the Saturday. I was pretty much a sad-sack on the Sunday too. My folly here was threefold: one, I picked a dish with slow turnover; two, I ate it even though it was tepid; and three, the restaurant had a "B" rating. I'm already giving this place 1 star because when I went home to eat the meal I brought here I noticed that the teriyaki chicken was RAW, I wouldn't have cared if it was overcooked but you NEVER serve anyone raw chicken, I was so disgusted that I just took one bite of the chicken and noticed the meat was pink. After that I just threw away my whole meal because that destroyed my appetite so badly, and I felt ill afterwards. I'm going to warn everyone that you need to be careful of what you eat here, I'd give them 0 stars if I could but they should be lucky I didn't get salmonella or anything, but i'm just so mad that I ate a piece of raw chicken. I used to go here a few times a month, close to my work. The food is basic Chinese fast food but I liked it and food always ready. They offer steamed rice which I like. Their fried tofu is yummy. I am sad they recently switched the size of take out boxes to something smaller. The difference is I used to have leftovers, now I don't and sometimes I'm hungry later in afternoon and prices still the same. Before even with leftovers, never hungry so I deem portion size has gone down enough to look for another place. I hope they switch back but they said they don't plan to. read more

I used to love this place it was great, not anymore this is the absolute last time I will go here. By health department standards the food is to be kept hot at least 140 to 160° and the food is always just room temperature I'm not even hard unless you order a Mail that's not sitting there in the warmers. The barbecue pork today tasted like refrigerator, it is hard and cold. The staff used to serve generous portions but no longer, the tray size is now smaller and the portions, the teriyaki chicken taste day old as well. I hope that whoever owns this place actually read this review and make changes, I used to refer this pace to everyone, take big family dinners here after a special event. But sorry to say the place has gone downhill, even the white rice is bad and hard now,, how can you mess up white rice?? The two women at the counter complain if you ask for sweet n sour sauce or teriyaki sauce, come on man.. The Asian older tall man is very nice and generous. It's up to you if you would like to take a chance and try this place. I may check back in a few weeks to see if things improved, if they have I will be more than happy to give a positive review . Dirty, Hot. Charges people for getting their own drink refills from the fountain. The water lever on their fountain is dirty, brown, greasy so I wonder what the inside of the machine looks like. The beige switch plate in the unisex bathroom is black and brown, and I'm pretty sure that not having a paper seat cover dispenser violates the health code. There's no AC. Service is decidedly unfriendly. Food handlers don't wear gloves or hair covering. read more
