Terrible experience from start to finish. We ordered two chicken fried rices with pineapple (which the online menu advertises), but instead we were given some kind of soup mixture that wasn't even close to what we ordered and was not edible. We called the restaurant to get it fixed, and my husband drove 15 minutes back to pick up the correct order. When he arrived, they only gave him one fried rice and told him to come back the next day because "something broke in the kitchen." The next day the restaurant was closed, so we waited until the following day to try again. When my husband called to finally resolve the issue, the manager told him to "f off" and said she wasn't refunding our money and wasn't giving us the second fried rice we paid for. This is hands-down the worst customer service we've ever experienced. They messed up our order, made us drive back and forth, broke their own promises, and then verbally abused us instead of making it right. We will never return, and I strongly recommend avoiding this place. read more

Their sushi was actually darn good but the last time we were there they had lost their sushi chef, so no sushi available. That's too bad because I would have rated them 4 stars if they still had their sushi. The staff is usually high school age kids, but they are friendly and try hard. It used to be BYOB, but I think they now have their liquor license, so no more BYOB. To me, the food is a little bland, hence my 3 star rating. Based on experiences from other restaurants in the area, this place gets plenty right. Overall, the food is fine but the service shines and doesn't make you feel like you're imposing on them. I had the crunchy cashew and that was ok as you could tell some of the veggies are canned not fresh. The food balanced on my thigh was precarious. I didn't dare open my sweet sauce, my soy sauce, or anything that could spill because everything was about to go flying everywhere. It is what it is and you got what you got. * * * On the plus side, the lady at the cash register (who I think is the owner) was as sweet and kind and bubbly a person as you could possibly want to see. She kept her bubbly disposition, despite two telephones constantly ringing with phone orders and live people at her desk demanding food. Really disappointed having a vegetarian eat meat due to an error of this place. I tried to call them but they were not helpful service. We called in the order for pickup and were told 15 minutes. People were coming in and sitting down and eating and finished while we waited for around an hour until we finally got food. Hurts to visit lago vista once a year. After our first time here, we might just have to make a little push out here to eat. Cant express how great the food is (sesame chicken, wonton soup, fried rice, ramen). The service is top of the line and makes you feel like you've been here before. read more

The first two times we ate here I was very impressed. Huge portions, perfectly cooked sliced chicken with lots of veggies and flavor. Great vegetable egg rolls too. The last two trips were not good. I ordered Garlic Delight. The menu said it was spicy and prepared with green onions. I was disappointed. No garlic, no green onions and it wasn't spicy. I asked the girl about it. She mentioned some problem with updating the menu and gave me a cup of finely chopped chives. I must have chunks/stalks of green onion! They don't have hot oil, so I was out of luck on the spicy. I couldn't find one spec of garlic in the sauce. So the next time I went, I described all the trouble I had previously. I asked if there were fresh green onions and garlic in the sauce now. She said yes. I also asked for extra spicy. They served me the same dish. No garlic, no green onion and it wasn't spicy. The veggie egg rolls were not good either. They tasted like grease. Great hot and sour soup and fried rice though but the only hot mustard they have is in little packets, and it's not hot mustard at all. I'll try another dish next time; one last chance to get it right before I stop eating there. But if they can't show me fresh garlic, real sections of green onion and real hunan peppers, I'm done with the place. read more

Ate there yesterday it was delicious. Had the kung pao chicken. Very tasty and rice was good. The waitress was very nice and friendly.

I used to give her 5 stars - ALWAYS!! The owner is WONDERFUL. Since COVID-19 the prices have gone up and portions are smaller. (So called meat shortage). The flavor of everything on the menu used to be fantastic. My last 5 or 6 visits have been so-so. Some of my carry out meals are wrong, or short changed, for items I paid for. I suppose it depends who is cooking that day. I think there has been a high turn over w/cooks. I used to tell EVERYONE to go here. PLEASE, bring back the quality that WE loved so much. My husband went there and ordered the spicy lettuce wraps and instead was given some kind of supposedly vegetarian spring roll that all there was inside was shredded lettuce shredded carrot and that was it. This place is genuinely good. Everything tastes fresh. I am extremely picky when it comes to meat and it being fatty or tasting off and the meat here is quality! Was a tad pricey but for the amount of food I was given it was definitely worth it. I continue to come here and am not disappointed! The reason I give 4 stars is because the beef lomein tastes more like everything was literally grilled and less Asian sauce tasting if that makes sense. I ordered the beef Buda with fried rice. I have been here a few times for lunch ,but this was the worst. Trust me I'm not a picky eater . The rice was so hard and dried out. It had to be a few days old. The beef was so chewy. I went at opening time and my food came out right away. Which is nice,but you know that was cooked a day before or more .It wasn't hot. Wow, wow, wow! This place completely exceeded my expectations. It's located near the grocery store in a strip mall environment. I walked in and then stood there for a moment trying to figure out how it all worked. There are no hostesses, you simply go to the right and order your food, grab a number, get your drinks and find an open table. The food was waaaay above your average Chinese food strip mall joint. I ordered the sesame chicken with steamed rice and a veggie egg roll. My food arrived quickly and it was delicious. The outside of the chicken was a crispy breading, the sauce was tangy but slightly sweet. The steamed rice was cooked perfectly, soft with a bit of bite to it. The egg roll was hard but not terrible. The ambiance is a little lacking but the service, speed of delivery and food is absolutely worth many more trips! I recommend this place if you're in Lago and have a hankering for chinese! read more

Haven't been there for years. I'm flabbergasted it's still there. I tried 4 different dishes. It was disgusting! All of it.

When the food is good, it's great! But it's not very consistent. My biggest complaint though is the ever-changing menu and prices. The menus on here are not accurate. They have removed vegetables from many of the dinner plates and if you ask for them, they charge $1 for 4 pieces of brown broccoli. The menu prices jump higher and higher very frequently. If the menu prices, quality of food, and amount of food could stay consistent- this restaurant would be 5 stars easily. read more

I really like the wok. I order the shrimp verencilli or however you spell it. So good. I pass on the fish sauce though. My husband loves the fiery jalapeño beef. Phone/cashier service has gone way downhill recently. The food is still tasty, but they are losing business because they can't seem to hire and keep a cashier that is competent. - Placed a Phone order last night. The cashier struggled with every item ordered - whether it be meat choice, size, or eliminating something such as jalapeños. - Arrived to pick up and there was one customer in front of me, ordering. Again, the cashier struggled entering each item into the computer. The elapsed time in the store at this point was about 9-10 minutes. Meanwhile, my order is sitting on the rack nearby, getting cold. During this time, the cashier took a call, and said she'd get back to them. Placed the phone down, and never did. Order $$ lost. - Arriving home, the food was now tepid, and we discover the cashier left the broth for our pho on the rack! So now I'm preparing a chicken broth to go with my wife's pho. - We finish our now-cold meal and call back and ask to speak to a manager. Cashier tells me she is not in. "Let me speak to whoever is in charge then," I ask. The phone gets set down for 10 minutes with no response. - I call back a second time, and tell the cashier we ordered the pho. "Oh, your soup is still here. I'm so sorry." Fair enough, but why did you leave me on hold? "Because the manager is not in." Huh?!? - $31 PLUS tip wasted. I wasn't about to drive back to try to remedy this with a cashier that can't do the job. - I'll just go elsewhere. Mark my words, this place will go under if they don't fix the front of house. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal of orange peel chicken and spring rolls. They allowed me to adjust the heat to my taste, and it was perfect. Hubby had sesame shrimp and loved it. Enormous portions! Pretty decent food, a bit pricey but worth it. We need more restaurants in the Lago Vista Jonestown area and Wok N Grill helps fill that need. The staff are friendly, the food is generally tasty and served hot. The "add soup and egg roll" for one dollar seems a bargain and I haven't noticed any MSG after effects in any of the meals I've had. Menu could be a bit broader (Egg Foo Yung please?) but there are plenty of satisfying choices. I wouldn't drive here from South Austin but for an area restaurant, I'm quite pleased its here. Food seems to be improving all the time, which I've found typical of most Asian food restaurants. read more
