Kung Pao Chicken, pretty darn good and very filling, large Texas sized portion for us big dudes.

Just posting another picture, I had General Tso chicken today and it really hit the spot, big chunks of chicken breast lightly fried and tossed in a delicious sauce. This Chinese spot does great takeout, give them a shot!

Tangy Orange Chicken with steamed rice!

Solid Chinese takeout. We've been twice in the last few weeks and the food has been consistent. Great portions too! Always fast and hot!

Last time we got take out the quality had really gone downhill. Tasteless, not well seasoned, sugary glop.

We had never eaten here before. It's the closest Chinese restaurant to us. (Wok and Grille in Lago…read moreVista is closer, but after a change of ownership, the food quality there dropped to 'unacceptable.') I ordered Mongolian beef and my wife chose cashew chicken. I had a large hot and sour soup and an order of four vegetable egg rolls. The soup was good but I was disappointed there were no little chunks of pork in it. The egg rolls were the worst I've ever tried to eat, after requesting soy sauce and hot mustard, which should've accompanied this dish. They were previously frozen and gooey inside. Just awful. The beef was tender and the onions were cooked perfectly in my Mongolian beef, but there was barely any sauce. Same with my wife's dish: very little sauce. Neither dish had much flavor. My Mongolian beef was supposed to be spicy. There were three peppers on my plate, but it wasn't spicy at all. I had to drench everything with hot oil. The hot tea was too weak to drink. I'm 74 and traveled the country for 35 years during my career working for a Japanese company. I ate at least one Asian meal per week at a Chinese, Japanese, Thai or sushi restaurant. I also cook delicious stir fry dishes with scratch made sauces.

Everything was cooked fine, but overall the food just lacked flavor. The beef lo mein, in particular, was surprisingly bland, which was a bit strange. The orange chicken was also just okay but not memorable either. It made me wonder if it's more of a seasoning or ingredient quality issue. With so many solid Chinese food options around, this one didn't really stand out enough for me to order from again.

My 19-year-old granddaughter is visiting from out of town, and she was so impressed with everything: the beautiful presentation, the restaurant itself, and especially the incredible flavors. We arrived around 11:30 a.m. and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves for a bit. Our waiter was wonderfully kind and attentive, checking on us throughout our meal without ever being intrusive. The wonton soup was delicious, with fresh, crisp vegetables that added the perfect crunch. The lunch special is an amazing value at $13.99. For just a $1 upcharge, you can substitute fried rice, and your meal includes an egg roll, your choice of soup, and your entrée. The portions were generous enough that we both had leftovers to take home for dinner. I ordered the Szechuan Beef, and it was absolutely outstanding. My granddaughter had the Orange Chicken, and we both agreed the Szechuan Beef stole the show! Austin Elite approved! We'll definitely be back!!

We had the salt and pepper calamari for an appetizer which was excellent. Our server let us know we came in right after a huge rush.... So maybe... just maybe the reason we experienced a lower quality meal. My Phos noodles were over cooked and mushy, the meat was almost mush. The flavor of the soup was ... needful of, flavor. My wife had the honey walnut pineapple shrimp. Yikes, they were some tough shrimp. I tried a couple. The sauce was blah and nothing that left you looking for the next bite. Did I say the shrimp were tough? The breading was hard and lacked.... Panda makes a better version... yes I said it. There ya go. I'll come back another day and give it a round two because that what's fair.

I had something I already forgot the name of but it was quite good. The Trinity dish from the Chef Specialties with chicken, beef and shrimp in a spicy garlic sauce. It was very tasty and a generous portion except only 3 shrimp total in entire dish for $17. I also got an egg roll. It was more like a spring roll than the bubbly egg rolls but fine. Probably wouldn't order again. Crispy, a bit oily. Vegetables only including some mushroom. $2.25 The place was nice. Clean, quiet, dimly lit. I liked the food enough to go back. They have a good weekday lunch special that comes with an entree, soup and egg roll for a reasonable price of $17-$18. I went with the lunch special - ordered the egg drop soup and kung pao chicken. The soup was average and lukewarm, nothing special. Would've preferred if it was served hot. The chicken entree was okay - the ingredients didn't taste as fresh as I'd like but the flavors were fine. We also got an order of crab puffs to share which were pretty tasty. It's a good deal for a hearty and filling lunch at a long standing north Austin small business. Worth a visit.
