While price point is low, the additional $3.95 for a drink was a surprise. Also, one bowl one time for à la cart and if you want all you can eat it's additional $5. The selections were limited. Literally one bar of all things including sauces. Place was smoky too and dingy. The meats were tough, the egg drop soup was salty and worst of all, the cooking table top was dirty. I've been wanting to go here for many years. A friend suggested we go here and I was excited because I love Mongolian BBQ. The staff was friendly and helpful. When I walked over to where the meat and vegetables were, it looked dirty. Not all the steak was red, it had some brown in it as if it was not fresh. When I tried to get chicken, I had to break off pieces because it was very frozen. A lot of the vegetables looked old and wilted and there were a few flying critters around the food. At this point, I probably should've left, but I chose to try it out. I wasn't sure what type of flavor to use as a topping. I went with about 3 tablespoons of each: garlic oil, chili, oil, and sesame oil. I was looking forward to eating it, but when I sat down to eat it, the food had absolutely no flavor. I don't know how much more I would have to put on ny food for it to have some sort of flavor. Although I was very disappointed with the bland food, the two people I went with liked it, but they like their food bland. When they eat vegetables, they want absolutely nothing on it. So, for those who liked bland food, I guess this restaurant is fine, but if you like at least a little bit of flavor, this is not the place for you. Now I have a little bit of OCD and I like going to clean places. I know that there isn't a perfectly clean restaurant, but this place was very dirty everywhere. I don't usually review restaurants so I didn't take a lot of pictures, I just wanted to show my sister because she used to go here many years ago. I think I probably would've been a lot more upset if I had paid for it, but I felt bad for my friends who paid for something that I absolutely did not like. Of course I didn't tell them that. Lastly, this is summertime and Camarillo. It gets a little warm and the place looks like it could have air conditioning, but it was either broken or just didn't work well because of all the gunk that was on it. This has been our favorite spot to eat with the family for years now. Their raspberry iced tea is THE BEST. Their Egg drop soup is TO DIE FOR. I see a lot of people complain about "critters and old veggies" but I've never experienced that and I've been eating here for years. I hope this place never closes. Lunch prices are also the best! Have loved Mongolian BBQ all my life. Decided to eat here after a long doctor's appt with Mom. Walked in, 1:30 on a Friday and no one else in the dining room except the waitress who got off her butt to greet us. It has the clear look of a place abt to be shuttered by TV s we don't in and decided the mess as ya and vegetables looked fresh and clean. So we built our own bowls and gave them to the cook at the big flat grill. As I waited, I looked around a lil more closely. The counter where I was standing was filthy and my shoes were noisily sticking to the floor. When the waitress took a break off her phone to ask us how everything was, I let her know my arm was sticking to the table. She informed me that it was "because of the grill", not because of pure laziness. I have waitressed for over 12 years. No people were there because the place is dirty. She sat on her butt, on her phone, instead of wiping and cleaning. Obviously more concerned about her makeup, lashes and nails more than doing her job. No excuse. So, not planning on returning for another disappointing $20 lunch. At least it was tasty! I hope they can find someone who actually cares about doing a job and earning a tip, not feeling entitled to it just for showing up. Really makes me mad. read more

Went here over the weekend and will not be returning. This place is very filthy, walls are greasy. The bar was dirty with flies landing on the pineapple. Meat did not look fresh. Veggies looked old. I wanted to walk away and leave but ended up staying but totally regretted it after. My stomach started to hurt that night. We frequented this location before Covid and recently just returned to dine in for a weekday (Friday) lunch. We were seated immediately and got to create our lunch plate. They only offered beef and chicken as the only proteins during lunch, so that's a big changed when it used to offer pork, lamb and imitation crab. We moved up here from the San Fernando Valley where we had 3 Mongolian BBQ's that we would frequent. We were sad to have to leave them and hoped we'd find someplace up here, especially since covid shut down so many "buffet" style restaurants. We were happy to find this one. We've been a number of times now and while I'd call this a simple BBQ place, it's pretty good food. If there's a lot of people, the line to cook the food is a little slow and the guy doesn't clean the grill enough for my taste. If you get up there after a number of dinners have been burned, you can definitely taste the burn in the food. We probably won't be coming as much, though, as my partner has pulmonary fibrosis and a very tiny appetite. So paying full price for all-you-can-eat for him is just a waste of money. One of the other BBQ's we go to have a separate price for a one-time-through email for those with small appetites. If you can do that, we'll come back. read more

Amazing food, especially for the price. It's our weekly go-to place at work now. A single $11-12 plate of food fills you up for at least 2-3 meals. I was pleasantly surprised to be offered complimentary rice, bread, wontons and soup with my to-go order on top of my plethora of food. The soup could use some improvements as it looked like something from Shrek's swamp and was very gooey but it was complimentary so it wasn't a bother. They have friendly staff and being COVID-friendly, (not seating currently) you fill out a menu for the items you want and they serve you. They also took my order over the phone which was awesome since I order ALL of the food. Not a huge fan of meal-prepping and microwaved food but the quality is not lost doing so here. Great spot for Mongolian bbq style food. The prices are decent, less than $20 a person for dinner and it's all you can eat, if you can handle that much food! The veggies and meats always taste fresh, and it's cooked pretty quickly. Complimentary wontons, sesame bread and egg drop soup come with the meal, so it's plenty of food! I am not a fan of buffets, but I do love coming here to Mongolian BBQ. The servers are always nice. You have the option of putting the amount sauces on your plate that way you can have it light, medium, or strong in flavor. If your ever looking for a place without a waitlist or just chill, gotta check out Mongolian bbq in Camarillo or Ventura. Yes, its a hole in the wall kinda spot...and the interior is worn and outdated, but the food is good. The food is always the same: noodles, meat and veggies. The flavor of the egg drop soup is good and never changes and you are the master of how greasy it gets. I love the bread here. It taste like fresh homemade flour tortillas (sort of) With sesame seeds. The portions depend on you. Because you serve yourself with a medium size bowl...fill it to the top or not and take it to the grill where the Mongolian bbq does the cooking. You get a scoop of white rice, soup, bread and fried wontons and it's inexpensive. I posted a picture of the prices. Lunch is one trip (meaning 1 bowl). They offer lunch and dinner. Dinner prices are all you can eat. Not much more than a lunch price. Did I mention that Mr. Softee is across the street for dessert. Because dessert is limited to none here. read more

Friendly service at a struggling business. Mongolian bbq is a fantastic cuisine, with endless options and flavors. The issue is that this restaurant doesn't offer as many options to make this place really stand out. Dinner menu offers more of a variety, but lunch is super limited. This is all due to what you would guess is the overall guest count. But this place still offers a decent selection. To flavor your food you have to add lots of sauce, another issue is that the sauce is all oil based and it tends to create heavy and oily food. I recommend they add sauces out that aren't oil based. read more

While they are up and running and everything looks to be working as before, it is the look of the place that really needs attention. At the very least, it needs a drop, deep cleaning. Windows are dingy, fingerprints on the glass, sticky on the floor. The walls could also use a good cleaning. Maybe fresh paint!? Now, the food was fresh, the choices plentiful and cooked quickly.
