    Brisket lunch (weekends only)
    Mitchell L.

Location is in the food court at Camarillo Outlets. Ordered the brisket lunch. Brisket was overcooked, bread was okay, baked beans lacked any real flavor. The macaroni salad and potato salad were good. BBQ was pretty good, probably the best thing about the meal. Service was good, I got there when it opened. I would say it is a bit over priced for food court food that didn't live up to expectations.

They were a little backed up due to online orders, but I didn't mind the short wait. After ordering I see the associate pull out the turkey for my sandwich which was the last 1/2 thick piece of the original turkey loaf. She proceeded to slice it and gave me the same amount of slices (5) as they would have on a new loaf. When the turkey has only about 1/2 inch left it's about 50% the size of the new loaf. So with that said you should be doubling up on the amount of slices to make up the difference. I was willing to just bite my tongue and accept the smaller portion until mid-way through making my sandwich she walks over to the prep board and proceeds to scrape all of the scraps off the board with the same gloves she's making my sandwich. Doesn't bother to use the scraper or have the person manning the prep station clean it off, but then returns to making my sandwich. This has happened not once before with the small portions and cross contamination, not twice, but so many times I've filled complaints with the Ventura county food inspector. Management is non existent at this location and I've never received a response from them or corporate. Your associates need to be aware that customers are standing right in front of you and while the saying ignorance is bliss may apply at other establishments, when you see this lack of attention right in front of you, it's not very appealing. Warning to other patrons, this location will cut all corners to make a profit while simultaneously short changing their customers and put them at risk.

I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, but we always love to sit outside so that we have a really good view of the aircraft coming and going. I tried the BLT and, oh my!!! One of the best I've had, with lots of thick cut bacon, very crisp, lots of lettuce, tomato and mayo (I ordered it as-is). Half was the size of a regular sandwich so the other half went home with me! RRR ordered the triple decker club on sourdough and loved his as well. Half of his went home also. We both got the cole slaw as our side which has a little pineapple in it. I found it ok, RRR really liked it. We shared a special milkshake, pistachio, and it was heavenly, highly recommended. Service was perfect, there when needed but not overbearing. We so appreciate well-trained staff! Highly recommended.

Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular…read morethey are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.

The restaurant itself is fairly small and feels intimate. With so few tables, I think a reservation is a god idea. Ely, our server, came by right away to get our drink orders and answer questions about the menu. With a warm smile, she makes you feel very welcome. The paella is only served on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Three of us decided to share the shrimp tacos ($17). The dish has 3 small soft shell tacos with shrimp and tomato slivers (see photo) and a sauce - delish! Then came the paella ($55). Brought to the table in a hot skillet. Terrific presentation (see photo). Saffron rice covered with a ton of pork, chicken and sausage, a cut open cooked lime, and other goodies. WOW!!! Terrific dish. The menu describes it as feeding 2. We were 3 hungry diners and didn't come close to being able to finish it. My friend, the non-paella eater, ordered the salmon ($30). Huge piece of salmon over a bed of what appeared to be sautéed veggies. Beautiful presentation (sorry, forgot to photo) and he said it was delish. Lovely ambiance, excellent attentive service, outstanding food at reasonable prices. We will be back. Definitely for the meat paella.

The server split the burger in half for us to share. The Peruvian rice dish was the standout of the meal I think it was called the Chaufa. Reminded me of a childhood dish. Very unique and not something I've had at a restaurant before. Skillet brownie for dessert also delicious and the hot plate/brownie complimented the ice cream very well. All of this food with two mimosas for under $100 is a steal. Unfortunately it's an hour away minimum but I will find a way to come back frequently.
