First time ordering from this new spot on Rose and Gonzalez. I ordered my favorite Kalbi Short ribs with 3 scoops of rice and no macaroni salad. I then ordered 2 macaroni side dishes to go and an order of crab meat wontons. I started off with the crabmeat wontons on the drive home. There's about 6-7. Very good flavor. Cooked just right. Only thing is for me it's kinda small. Once I got home I started on the Kalbi short ribs plate. It comes with 3 good slices. Very delicious. Cooked perfect and also the rice was cooked perfect. Now I wanted to taste one of the macaroni salads. For me, it needs more flavor. I love macaroni salad and I compare all to those in Hawaii. This one just didn't have enough flavor for me. I didn't see slivered carrots or onions. No disrespect to Ohana, but this was the only dish I wasn't too pleased with. It still tastes good, just needs more humph. read more

NEW at the Rose Shopping Center in Oxnard is Ohana Grill. I'm always in the mood for Hawaiian style BBQ, so I had to check out this new spot. I came about a month into them being open and they are operating full force now and seem to have everything moving smoothly. Walking inside you immediately get those island vibes from the decor. The space is beautifully done and super clean (you can tell they just opened). Service was definitely 5 stars. So welcoming and friendly. They gave great recommendations, which made ordering easy. And it was also nice to see when there was down time, they were cleaning away. As for the food and menu, they had lots of options to choose from. I went with the Half Chicken Katsu and Half Fried Shrimp plate and of course doubled up on the mac salad. It also comes with white rice and honestly it's A LOT of food for under $20. Everything was cooked fresh to order and even after getting it home, it was still hot and crispy. Sometimes I get nervous traveling with fried foods but this totally kept its texture which was amazing. This is a no frills kind of place. It's not gourmet but that's why we appreciate it. The chicken katsu was exactly what I was craving. But the real standout was the fried shrimp. Crispy, nostalgic, and surprisingly BIG! Definitely getting this again. I'd say as a combo plate definitely a 8/10. Katsu sauce over their teriyaki sauce though. Mac salad was good but I've had a better one at another spot. Still would recommend it though. Every time we come in the workers are very inviting and friendly. The tables are always nice and clean. They have bottles of their sauce you can take to your table or fill to go cups if you love extra sauce like me! This is the best Hawaiian food I've had in the surrounding areas. Everything is super fresh and well seasoned. The servings are PLENTIFUL! My son and I always share a plate and I get an extra side of Mac salad. We often get the chicken teriyaki as it's easier for my son and I to share due to the chicken being all cut up. The Hawaiian chicken is also very good..the thighs are whole but the sauce is great and the chicken very tender! Haven't tried the beef options, the shrimp, or the katsu but I'm sure they're also great! The Mac salad is perfectly creamy and cold. My favorite item there! For some reason at L&L I feel like their Mac salad tastes like bleach but this one doesn't come anywhere near that. It's perfect! Wouldn't change anything about it. The cream cheese rangoons have a great amount of filling and are nice and crispy! Just wish they came with sauce but overall great! The Hawaiian drink options are great! Tried the luau punch for the first time and had to go out and buy a 6 pack from world market Will definitely be back! Love it! read more

Came to check on this new place that took over Red Ribbon location. When we arrived it was empty. Placed the order with the cashier. Didn't take too long to receive. We ordered some spam musubis, bbq mix plate and loco moco. Everything came out pretty good. The sauce on the loco moco was too salty for my taste, and it was a bit much. Definitely took leftovers home. Sadly they didn't have any fountain drinks; it was all bottled or canned. Cashier was welcoming, maybe try again if ever in the area. read more

Came here with a couple people who wanted to try it as they just opened recently. We were pleasantly greeted and it's order at the counter then pick your seat. We got three combos to share including the bbq chicken and katsu, bbq mix combo, and the bbq chicken and seafood. The decor was cute and the space was clean and bright. The rice was perfectly cooked and the fish was the best thing of what we tried, we still talk about it and will come back for it - it was perfectly cooked with the right ratio of batter to generous fish. 5 stars for the rice and fried fish. I wanted to like the bbq items but they were all way too salty, they were marinated for way too long. The chicken katsu and shrimp were over battered so not enjoyable. I did not try the Mac salad. We ate in and the air was blowing pretty hard no matter where you sat. As we were eating, a staff member came out to clean tables but she was spraying a lot of cleaning solution and it went everywhere and the smell was super strong and not pleasant, even though we weren't even near her. Perhaps a better method is to use a different cleaner and spray it directly into the towel as opposed to in the air. The staff were friendly and it looks like they are trying to get their footing. Will come back and try them again. 3.5 stars rounded up. read more

Im a Hawaii boy so here we go!! Been here a few times since they opened. I know they're trying to mimic Q&Q but def falling short...had the Seafood combo w Teri chicken and all steam veggies ..flavor was bland! Some S & P on everything won't hurt! Teri chicken was grilled but no flavor at all. Also had the chicken katsu w mac & rice. Katsu was actually good but Mac salad not good! Again no flavor at all and watery. Don't get me started w the sauces they provide. Katsu & teriyaki sauce are watered down..HORRIBLE! It's the same when it opened and still the same now. And we all know if you are from Hawaii or lived there...some furukaki seasoning on rice, musubi's, etc is a must!! Can't be cheap w short cuts just to make some $$... if yall going to use the "Hawaiian bbq" as a name ... be true to the island cooking!! 1st time there , love the Hawaiian kine This place falls very short of Hawaiian food In my opinion. Service was helpful at front counter, menu has a good variety. Small place with plenty of seating. I ordered the loco moco plate and a side of spam musubi. Macaroni very plain nothing special about it. The brown gravy on my loco moco very weak ( clear) seems like package gravy, beef patties are store bought patties they give you 2, again very plain was disappointed. The spam musubi plain also just rice spam and seaweed wrap had no special seasoning inside of it. Probably will not be coming back to try other stuff I'm sorry....... read more

First time and it went great! I ordered to go for the family and was still hot when I got home. Don't let the other reviews sway you as ohana is only a week or two in. They have great flavor good portion and well priced unlike Q&Q and L&L who charge $25-$30 a plate. Loved the spam musubi and it was cool being able to see them make it. This is a me thing but I never liked the macaroni from any place but gave it a shot here and ohana killed it. I will be ordering the macaroni here over other places. this restaurant just opened up in my area and i've visited 3 times because it's so good! i've tried a variety of meals and they've all been crispy and fresh. the workers are friendly and the restaurant is very clean. last time i went they were playing really calming hawaiian music and since the food was hitting it was literal paradise. the portion sizes are really big and i love that they include "mini" meal options because sometimes the big plate can be too much for one. they have great drink options and hawaiian sun drinks! read more

First off customer service was horrible as a new place you would think they would have some type of good energy or at least explain the menu but no words were said by the cashier VERY RUDE .
