I've been to Wokcano many times, usually for happy hour in the bar. This time I came in with my family for dinner. For happy hour, its usually fun, good times hanging out, food, drinks, good atmosphere. This was a slightly different experience so I'm rating it based on this particular visit. The restaurant atmosphere is nice. It's classy, chic, cool. We came in on a Sunday night. There were a good amount of people in there but it wasn't packed. There were lots of empty tables so we were seated right away. The service throughout the night was excellent. Steven was very attentive, friendly and patient. But after we sat down and I looked at the menu, I was slightly disappointed. The menu was very short. There were very few sushi options to choose from. I am used to having pages of options but there was only one. They offered combination sushi plates but they were all "vanilla-type" rolls. It didn't interest me. To start, we ordered some edamame, which was too salty, and some dumplings, which were very tasty. For my entree, I ended up going with the Late Night Party roll and yellowtail sashimi (2 pieces). The wife got a shrimp tempura roll and daughter got a kids order of teriyaki chicken. Sushi was very good but I've had better sashimi at other restaurants. I wasn't too impressed with it. For drinks, I started with a Japanese Old Fashioned. It was pretty good too. They use some kind of Japanese Whiskey. I took a gamble at the order but was pleasantly surprised because most places don't know their elbow from their a-hole when attempting to make an Old Fashioned. I had high hopes but I didn't expect an Asian cuisine restaurant to get it right. But they totally did (see pic). Then, I had a large Asahi with my meal. After tip, the bill came out to $100+. I was surprised at that. I didn't feel like we ordered enough to hit the century mark so things here are a bit overpriced. For proximity, the outdoor parking in the Patios area where most of the restaurants were located was the place to be. Atmosphere, décor, ambience - The restaurant was very faux-Asian with placid water ponds and a waterfall wall. An expansive place with plenty of tables, chairs, booths, and a separate room for a private party. There was also an outdoor patio area for when the weather was nice. Although there was natural lighting that shown through along the outer edges of the restaurant, the inner part remained somewhat dimmed. The noise level can be loud at times but depended on the amount of people. There were a couple strategically-placed TVs. A very casual place. Attire - It was totally casual so, so if I weren't at work, I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, Wokcano in general was too Americanized for me and should you decide to eat here, I'd recommend either the sushi, sashimi, or terikayi dishes to at least enjoy some dignifying semblance of Japanese food. Not that Wokcano's food was bad or its fault, but the Santa Clarita Valley simply doesn't have the taste for authentic ethic food and preferred faux-ethic chains like this. I mean, come on, the community raved about how good the Chinese food was at Panda Express! I found good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (my portion of the bill was around $12.00 before tip), and their lunch servings were rather sizable. We took our Ls with our main entrees, I ordered the braised string beans and added shrimp. It was OK in flavor (not too much seasoning) cake with about 5 shrimp. Nothing really special, but healthy and filling. Bf got the spicy crispy chicken dish, just FYI: it's a dry plate. I recommend asking for a "dipping" sauce like spicy Mayo and/or teriyaki sauce to really seal the deal. But here I am and I'm gonna give it a go. I've been to several Wokcano's in the LA area, all of which are always very good and lots of fun. Well... fun in the way of being a great spot to have dinner with friends or family for celebrations or just to get together. It's equally as good for even just two... wink wink. Wokcano's always has a great food selection, from various sushi offerings to a good selection of Chinese dishes. Some of my favorite items are the Curry Chicken, the Spicy Seafood Soup, the Crispy Pepper Calamari, the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice... well I'm gonna stop because I just realized it all tastes really good and I haven't even touched on the sushi... so good. This particular location is always a good choice. The staff is always super cool and friendly. Props to them for always being on point. The bar is full... full of good beverages. Even their signature offerings are pretty good, such as the Wokcano Pear and the Jaded One. And when you can't decide, you can always go with a simple bottle of Nigori to stay in the groove. We were there on Saturday the 17th one girl named Melvy served us at table 15/1, please get this girl out of there very rude and unprofessional, she talked to us family of 6 like nobody. My husband was being polite asking he was looking around for her, and that it looks like she was ignoring us, she said 'is that a compliment?' We asked for forks is took forever, we asked for to go plates she brought less, she was giving us attitude, my teenagers that never pay attention to stuffs like this were surprised There was a girl that first came to get our order because Melvy was at break, this other girl was nice and professional, but Melvy wow, we asked her for refill of strawberry lemonade she brought ordinary lemonade and when she brought it, she said oh I don't you had a different one, snobby.. one of our neighbors had asked for restaurant recommendations and I told him wokano is great he said he had a horrible experience there, I was like we've been going there for a long time, but now I know what he experienced. We come here for my daughters bday every year. But this will be the last time we come to this restaurant. Food was so so, service was good. Restrooms are disgusting, I've been to cleaner truck stops. The tables are sticky and feel gross even after we asked them. This restaurant used to be really nice but has really gone down hill over the last few years, especially for what they charge for food. I've been to cleaner fast food restaurants. My family kept stating how run down this location has become. All our plates and silverware where dirty and sticky, had to ask for replacement dishes. There is graffiti all over the restroom stalls, trash all over the place in the restrooms. Not the high end feel this location once had. My second time here and it did not disappoint. I really am liking Wokcano more each time I am there. The atmosphere is great. During the day the huge windows light up the dining area and sets a casual feel for lunch. As the sun goes down so does the ambient lighting inside. Candles on the table set the mood for a more romantic dinner out. Top 40 music plays to keep the vibe fun and upbeat. Another plus was I have had great service here. I get right, had great tables out of the way and private...and our servers were awesome. Attentive and didn't disappear. They were also very polite. Nice to have that potential obstacle off my mind when dining out. Ok so let's get down to it... the FOOD! I obvi came back because I enjoyed the food here...duh. This time around I got the California Roll and Black Pepper Beef Mignon. The Cali Roll was good, no surprises there. I added on some spicy mayo for a lil kick in the crab. The Black Pepper Beef Mignon was really good. Lots of big pieces of beef lightly sauteed in a delicious sauce tossed in with cuts of onions. The beef was tender and lean - very good. I even ate up the onions because it tasted so good. The portion was big enough to share too. I ordered up the Crazy Fried Rice on the side as well and that too was big enough to share. The rice was good however I only wish it was more sticky so it was easier to eat with the chop sticks. It was like regular rice all fluffy and soft.. The drinks from the bar could be a tad stronger too. Martini was just meh, and my Ginseng Mule drink was pretty sweet - couldn't taste much vodka in it. Since my birthday was during the quarantine, I had to order food for take out and I decided to choose this place! I have been here plenty of times with my family and they never disappoint. The food is great each and every time. I am thankful for how smooth they made the take-out order process during this time. My favorite dishes thus far have been the combination fried rice and the spicy garlic chicken with broccoli- if you have not tried them then you definitely need to! These lovely 5 stars are going towards the phenomenal service we had during our visit to this location. Unfortunately, I didn't catch our waiters name but he had beautiful eyes that you can get lost in. Btw, no the stars aren't because he was good looking, it was because he truly was such a great waiter. Four adults, and two wild children. He was extremely patient with us, and when he would come to ask us if everything is good, he excused himself first and apologized for interrupting us if we were speaking/eating. Nobody does that anymore. SO many times they come up while you're stuffing your face and you can't even respond properly. That did not happen once here. Brought out trainers for the kids immediately along with sippy cups for their juice. Overall, he was a great help. The food, well, it's Wokcano so you know you're getting pretty decent sushi. My favorite by far here is the salmon truffle roll. The noodles aren't my favorite here, but I do enjoy the shishito peppers, and the spicy mayo that comes with the calamari is Bombay. read more

Great Food! I especially recommend their Happy Hour, which includes all day Sunday and Monday (holidays excluded) when seated in bar area. They have a wide variety of sushi and the 4 or 5 my party tried were all very fresh and tasty. I liked their wonton soup and California Roll...I'm not very adventurous! The Edamame with Garlic was outstanding, not too garlicky but just right. Bar drinks are exotic and good. Husband got a Blushing Geisha drink and bartender made it a little drier at hubby's description of what he likes. It was great. We went here for lunch after not being in for three years. Our food was shockingly bad. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day. However, the table, chairs plates and napkins were all dirty. The table had a literal dirt film on it. I cleaned it with my napkin. When we were brought our drinks our glasses were even dirty. We requested to have the umbrella open (it had to be moved a few feet) like the other table with customers and were told sure no problem. Never happened. Since I'm from the Bay, this chain hasn't made it's way up north yet. I'm a fan! I was down there for work and visited family. This gave them the excuse to eat here...I'm glad they made that decision because the food was great, atmosphere was nice and the service was perfect. They even provided my nephew with a fork/chopstick combo, which he loved AND took home! The dishes we ordered: Edamame, tuna truffle pizza, Monkey brains, garlic noodles with shrimp, orange chicken, walnut prawns and double Kung pao. Everything came out so flavorful and tasty, The portion sizes were more than enough for 3 adults and a 6 year old with an adult size stomach, The servers were very attentive (checked a few times if we needed refills) but did not hover too much that we couldn't eat in peace.
