The platter. Too expensive for the small amount of food on the small plate. With tip, what you see in the picture was $85! Too much.

Quaint little place in a very touristy part of NH. I'd like to rate this place 2 1/2 stars but you know the drill. When you call something a "platter" , I expect a mound of food that is difficult to finish. Unfortunately, that's not what we got. The platter came with two small pieces of haddock, each smaller than a deck of cards, 5 small shrimp, and 4 small to medium size scallops. For size comparison, look at the size of the paper condiment cups and lemon wedges next to the seafood. The amount of waffle fries on the plate could fit in one of my wife's tiny hands. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty but I just can't get past the food to price ratio. The lobster roll was very good with a large amount of meat , but still a little pricey. It was a much better value even though I thought it was over priced. It contained the right amount of mayo and not too much celery. The service was friendly and attentive. 5* to the server. I hate giving such a low review for decent food, but for the same cost I could have eaten at a much nicer restaurant down the street.

Have had many different kinds of cheese accompany a hot dog, but this was just shameful. Imagine ordering a cheeseburger (from the same part of the menu as the hot dog) and getting a small sprinkle of shredded cheese in a cup... And for $1. Hot dog itself was delicious, bun was good (only thing keeping it from great is that it was an end piece, not my favorite). Chips plentiful.

Location, location, location. With outdoor seating right on the water, this is the perfect place to sit outside on a sunny breezy day and grab a bite to eat at lunch time. We love coming here to watch the boats. There is also indoor seating. Outdoor seating is dog friendly and the server brought our pup water (without us asking!). Service was very fast and staff was all very friendly. Menu is simple (grill cheeses, hamburgers, sandwiches, and some fried seafood options) but perfect for lunch. We had grilled cheeses, hamburger, BLT, and club sandwiches. The waffle fries are great. All the food we had was very good. They also have a side window for to-go ordering as well as some picnic tables.

Beautiful view of Wolfeboro Bay with outdoor seating. Chowder was perfect. Waffle fries great too.

Dockside will always hold a special place in my heart! It is a staple for me and my family. It's a small, casual, and inexpensive restaurant that sits right on the lake. Steps from the town docks, it can be reached by boat or by car. The food is always excellent, and the service is even better! They have the best waffle fries, without a doubt. Whether you're looking to grab a quick lunch or dinner, or even treat yourself to ice cream- Dockside is the place to go! You can take out or sit in. While I love Bailey's Bubble, Dockside's ice cream is on a completely different level of amazing... their S'mores tastes exactly like s'mores and their "Mint Summers Night Dream" is the perfect mix between chocolate and mint. Definitely worth trying if you're in town!!

Dog friendly back patio. They brought our pups water a few times. The fish and chips were good, but the lobster roll was very, very good.

They once did whole chicken which was pretty perfect outside on the old patio. Pretty much impossible to undercook something you smoked for hours but very easy to dry it out, and it was great. Actually brought the whole fam there that day including our dog. It's petfriendly outside. They have three main beers that you can always get, and then about another 3 beers or so of rotating and experimental beers/ciders. If you want to get an idea of the staff this is from my first visit there a few years back. I actually think this was towards the beginning of Covid. We had to get out of dodge and enjoy some relaxation by the lake. When we showed up everywhere we drove by the spots we normally frequented and everywhere was closed, sometime near 8 pm. We did a search and found that here was open and headed over as fast as we could to try to get something to eat. Unfortunately the grill just closed, and we resigned ourselves to a liquid dinner. The chef then pokes his head out and offers to make a pretzel for us, and we could not have been happier. It was a big one too. The staff was just so welcoming and seemingly very happy that we were there... which is not always the case in the general area... that Burnt Timber became one of our usual spots instantly. Each time we've been back it has always been that way, which is even more rare not just here but back in the Boston area as well. So again if you like smoked and fermented things in an unpretentious atmosphere with very friendly staff I'm pretty sure you'll love this place too

The people at the bar were making fun of others as they came in, making us very uncomfortable. The beer menu was very small. We understand that can happen with a small brewery. We tried one beer and the cider. Both were very light and almost had no distinguishable flavor. My husband's burger was delicious. My nachos, which were cold, had very little topping and arrived well after his burger. The restroom was not very clean and had no toilet paper. We won't go back.

I'm going to assume it was the bartender, who was shockingly rude, sarcastic, and disrespectful, to say the very least. Not my first experience with this bartender either. The bartender's and server's at Wolfe's Tavern are absolutely horrible. They have reprehensible attitudes and are colossally rude to customers. I asked for a simple clarification of their operating hours. This man was indignant and impolite, calling me out for bringing a discrepancy to his attention!! Uh..what?! I've been a resident of Wolfeboro, NH, for 70 years. This establishment once stood as the landmark for elegant dining, professional and competent administration and staff, and was respected throughout the Lakes Region. You once had an Executive Chef named "Hoke" many, many years ago...a quintessential gentleman with great culinary expertise, who frequently would come out of the kitchen, go table to table, introduce himself to all the patrons, and ask them if their meals were up to their liking. This man "made" The Wolfeboro Inn, almost singlehandedly. When he resigned because of a difficulty with management, the place plummeted...nearly overnight. Fast forward to August, 2025, and it is now worse than ever. I'd recommend Dunkin' Donuts on Center Street, or The Bay Diner on Main ahead of here. It's no wonder today's bartender refused to give his first name...no doubt fearful of this review(!) or one in The Granite State News, aka "The Grunter."

The place was half empty when we went, at around 1:30pm. We asked for a table, or two tables next to each other, for 10 people. They said that is fine and would probably take 20 - 30 minutes. I came back in 30 minutes (we had 6 hungry kids!) and asked about the table. I also asked if we can sit at any of the empty tables in the place. They said they weren't seating those sections... ok. But were getting a table ready for us downstairs. I said we prefer two tables to split the group and maybe be easier to set up, but one is fine too. We waited at the front and some man (Juan, the manager, apparantly) rushed over and asked "are you the party of 10?" I said yes. He goes - we have one table for you, take it or leave it. I said sure, we will take it - as we are here trying to have lunch. He huffed off and I said - should we follow you to the table and he goes - you wait for the hostess, thats how this works. I had actually assumed he was the host. As how would I know who is who. Obviously, I know how this works... No idea why he was so rude or in such bad mood. I did ask if there was a problem and he said that we were being "demanding" and the place was "very busy". It was half empty. There was not one person at the bar. 20 minutes into our lunch we were literally the only people in the whole place. Food was ok. The waitress was perfectly nice. We ordered 2 dozen oysters and they came right after our meals, which was strange but whatever. One person ordered a second drink and it took over 20 minutes. But again, we are on vacation so not a big deal. Juan's attitude, rudeness, and aggression was astounding. We were in a restaurant asking for a table and telling him we prefer two tables but one works too. "We have one table for you, take it or leave it" is a strange response. The place was half empty and had many open tables, in every section (outside and inside). Even if it WERE busy, that rudeness and flat out aggression from the start is totally uncalled for. Maybe Juan was having a bad day, no idea. Even the kids were like - whats his problem? Especially as a manager, he can be helping the host instead of being rude to customers.
