I am a long time resident in South Central PA and Wolfes Diner is just one of those places that you never look up on Yelp just because you know they are there and the chance is you may have stopped there at least one time. Wolfes, even so it is not often visited by us is a great Diner. It is genuinely a diner that looks like the ones found on a train. At least the outside. The seating at the tables is a bit crowded because the space is small. The food, not considered healthy or fancy is outstanding for what it is. You never can go wrong with what you order. All is tasty and yet amazingly cheap. Burgers on average are $3 to $4. Meals run about $6. What is also most fun about this place, if you are an outgoing person it is not hard to strike up a conversation with any of the people there including the waiters. There were times when half the diner is involved in a conversation about whatever topic. The time we visit most is during Mount Olivet Camp Meeting which is literally around the corner. Waitresses seated our family of seven. Questions were answered and menu explained. Friendly service staff. We tipped over 20% as they took back an Italian dish as not favorable but was safe to eat. Other dishes were good. The environment is as it appears outside, not a clean feel. Seats near bathroom should be avoided as it smells unpleasant. We may a pit stop at this retro diner on the way to visit my brother. Chicken and Waffles Dinner w/ 2 sides and a dinner role for under $8.00. The kids split a Burger Royal w/ fries and we also had a small ham & bean soup. Chicken was moist and tender. Waffles and gravy just right. Peas were army green, but kind of expected it with the whole diner throw-back thing going on. Service was attentive. Desserts looked good, but we didn't get any as we were in a hurry to get back on the road. Loved the sign that says "$5.00 charge for Whining" Jukeboxes provide atmosphere, but they are "out of order". The total bill came to $13.65 before tip. Rachel Ray would be proud...! read more

There is so much to be said about this little diner, and honestly no words could compare to the actual experience. I have always been iffy with diners, and find most overpriced to the point I'd rather spend that same amount at a more upscale restaurant. Wolfe's has the lowest prices around yet is able to boast about that homemade appeal, which most places lack. Each day, there are always specials, and a wide variety of food to choose from. And because of being Greek owned, there is a small section with common favorites, if you want to try something new! I did see a past comment that only cash is accepted, this is no longer true. This is the real deal. I took my wife and kids here for our weekly 'dinner out' tradition, and I'm really glad I did. Instead of the typical places like Chilis or Red Robin (don't get me wrong, they have their place), I wanted to do something a little different. This diner had friendly staff, and older patrons that you just know live at the place. The kids loved it and it definitely took us out of the routine and boring for an hour or so. So I thought this would be a great little diner and I was shocked by the place. First off the diner waitresses looked like they were like from Meth Mountain, Jacked up rotting teeth, can't tell if they were men or women (that bad). That's ok and a part of life. What one waitress did was the most disgusting thing I had ever seen a person do. She used a white towel that was wet and was cleaning tables and the back splash with it and the walls and even the bottom of the windows with the towel. She then cleaned the stem (the steel stem of the milkshake machine where your cup gets the milk shake made) with the same filthy white towel she just mopped up peoples food and the walls and the window base. WTH that was absolutely disgusting. When I brought it to her attention explaining what she did she got seriously pissed off and the owner came out and started bitching me out. I explained it to him and he still didn't understand why I was upset. Finally, out of frustration, I said what are you banging her and is she buying all our dinner? WTH I'm a customer that privately told her that was she did was unsanitary! I didn't pay for my meal, I didn't eat one bite, I simply left because he was so pissed he asked me to leave. Awful and disgusting. For proof just go there the girls never wash their hands. They will clean up food and use a filthy towel put their hands on someones plate who could be raging sick and then bring your plate to you with bacteria on their hands. Came here Saturday morning for breakfast. Cute 50's style diner. Were there at a busy time with just2 waitresses. It took a while to get noticed, give our order and then finally get coffee. The eggs, toast, and potatoes were 1.89 and good. Fine place for breakfast . If you are tall the booths are cramped so beware. read more

Yuck! Their non-compliant restaurant inspection on 1/5/2016 really ought to make a person think twice before dining here because of what's apparently going on in the back of the house. The details of that public inspection record are as follows: 1. The person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. 2. Observed one live roach-like insect on a glue trap in the kitchen area, and two live roach-like insects in the back prep room. 3. Observed three dead mice in glue traps in the basement area. 4. Observed several fruit fly-like insects around the potato peeler in the back prep area. 5. Bottles of Windex and air freshener were stored above food equipment in the ware wash area. 6. Observed a wiping cloth hanging from a cook's apron in the kitchen area. 7. Observed a fly-strip hanging above a prep area in the kitchen. 8. Observed a phone stored on the prep table next to the bain-marie. 9. Observed broken door gaskets on the small bain-marie in the kitchen and on the reach-in refrigerator in the back prep area. 10. The door on the chest freezer in the basement area is broken and exposing insulation. 11. Observed dried food residue on the blade guard of the deli slicer. 12. Observed dried residue on the blade of the table mounted can opener. 13. Observed a leak underneath the two-bay sink in the kitchen area. 14. Love this diner, and hope it continues to thrive as the world around it grows up. Great feel and food, a throwback to an era of simple food and friendship. This was a regular stop on my travels to and from college, and I do my best to visit every time I pass through the area. I only wish they were open on Sundays because most of my trips north these days have a return on Sunday, and I'd like to be able to look forward to dinner at Wolf's before the final run to DC. My experience here at wolfes less than pleasant. My waitress, Deborah dirt was very rude and never came to check up on me. The salad I ordered only came with 2 roaches when I very specifically ordered 4 cock roaches. The atmosphere was not what I expected. From the outside, it looks like fine fancy dining but that's not the case. Several incest truckers, they called themselves joyel's. Whatever that means.
