Went on a Sunday afternoon. Summerville parking is always fun, but at least it's free on Sunday. There was 5 of us, we all enjoyed the food and the service. I had the petit filet mignon at medium temp, it was cooked to perfection, comes with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Had a tap IPA with the meal-yummy. My two brothers had the rack of ribs. They looked tasty and the meat fell off the bone. It was a large rack. Could be three meals. Another person had the grilled steak salad and another had the grilled salmon All in all a great experience Very few leftovers Thank you to the very attentive staff for making it a great afternoon. This is a nice restaurant with a good bar. It's more upscale than most restaurants, but not necessarily fancy. The service can be very slow: after we were done with our meal and served our coffee, the server was missing for half an hour - and that's only when we received the check. I like not having a waiter hover over me looking to turn the table over, but ghosting the table is just as bad. The food is good. Not a huge selection on the menu, which I like. I would rather go to a place that has a few really good things, as opposed to those places who have a large selection of mediocre items. I enjoyed the bread basket at the beginning of the meal - a small selection of different textures of bread. In all, this was a good place to meet up with a few coworkers for a small celebration. I think I make pretty fair reviews. Wolfgang hmmm! Not all what I was hoping for. Nice place when you walk in the ambiance is upscale with a cigar bar type feel. Dark wood throughout which makes for a classy setting. Food and servings were weird. I ordered lamb chops an it came with green jello or mint jello idk cause i didn't eat it. Then i had to share my sides with others at the table almost like homestyle...prices were a bit higher then regular restaurants but i guess the name speaks for the price. Everything from the food to the service to the location is perfect at Wolfgang's. I went for a birthday lunch for a friend and the whole experience was wonderful. The wine selection is quite vast for bottles but they also have great by the glass options in addition to a full bar. The food was all fantastic from the onion rolls to the actual entrees. I have officially added Wolfgang's to the list of best burgers I've ever had. It was cooked to a perfect medium and the bacon was so thick and huge that I kept half on the burger and cut up the other half to eat on its own. We also enjoyed an assortment of desserts and schlag (the best whipped cream ever). Our waiter was attentive and I was being asked if I wanted another glass of wine before my last sip of the previous glass. Cutting straight to the chase...appetizers: oysters...I've had better, too salty IMO. Canadian bacon was divine, I could have eaten 5 slabs, but I exercised my will power and stopped at one. For main me and my husband had porterhouse for two, no sides, we wanted to leave room for deserts. The steak was a-mazing, sooo juicy and flavorful, you could taste the aging. Ok this is a first for this Jersey girl I have never been to Somerville. It is about a little over an hour West of Jersey City where I was staying. Cute little town reminded me of Red Bank, NJ. So we arrive and enter on a Friday evening the bar area was very crowded and we made our way to find our friends. We skipped the before dinner drinks as we preferred to unwind at our table. We sat outside albeit covered patio area to enjoy the beautiful late Spring evening. We definitely don't get weather like this at home in Florida maybe in the Winter months. Now to unwind we started with a nice glass of wine. We also shared several appetizers if mozzarella and tomato salad,crab cake, lump crab meat ( my least favorite of all) and homemade potato chips which were quite addicting. For main course I was torn between the Sea Bass and the veal chop. Well the veal chop it is and probably one of the best I ever had it was pounded super thin. Definitely large enough for two. I took mine with me to eat later which I did. Served with mushrooms and onions probably the best again the sauteed onions really made the dish. Too full for their tempting dessert menu I enjoyed a nice after dinner drink. Please note very generous pour. The restrooms I visited before my long trip back they were clean and spacious. There was live music in the bar which was very loud. But no worries we were leaving anyway. Great place would definitely return if I ever come back to Somerville again. read more

So a mixed review. While service was exceptional, there was a bit of a miss because we had 5 or 6 wait staff - so while it feels "big city" it misses on the relationship you can develop with the one who works to make it special. Besjan was our guy but others intruded into what could have been a higher service relationship. Food Burrata special was awesome! Nick's rib eye was a 5 but my veal Milanese was a 2 - very tender veal but over battered and oily. I pulled 1/2 of the coating off. The accompanying salad was tremendous! Sides - German potatoes were so very delicious and the side of mushrooms was so delicious. Cheesecake was NY and great - ask Nick. For the prices charged, I would expect impeccable service. Our water was not even refilled. The porterhouse was nowhere near what I have experienced at Roots in Summit at a similar price. I just don't get it, what people see as value at this restaurant. It was ok, just not spectacular. Me and my wife went for our anniversary and I told them when I made the reservation...nothing! Service was great, our waitress Grace was EXTREMELY attentive for starters. She made sure our water was full and our drinks were refilled. She had great suggestions and knowledge of the menu for some things we had questions about, like the Wolfgang salad for example, which was extraordinary to say the least. The steak was not perfect, well seasoned with a nice crust! The lobster Mac and cheese was oh so velvety. And please do not sleep on the Canadian bacon, that was a nice big slice of meat (that's what she said)! But seriously it was succulent and juicy. The creamed spinach didn't appear as creamy as I assumed it would be but it was still good in its own way for sure. Idk if I mentioned the drinks but they were strong but not overbearing, definitely a great bar tender. The asparagus was nice and crunchy with good flavor. The onion soup is definitely something worthy trying as well. Overall this was a great experience. I ordered the ribeye medium rare; the cook on the steak was closer to rare, but the temperature was consistent with medium rare. A dry-aged steak should be tender, but this steak was far from tender. It was tough and had more grizzle than a prime cut should have. I will never eat there again and won't recommend it to anyone. I'm kind of being generous here, folks. To start, our steak for two was not to temp so they took it and just brought it back charred. By then, the sides were cold and the mood had shifted from festive to WTF. The dessert was decent but the service sucked. Our server came by once throughout the meal and was simply going through the motions. Another server actually had to help us. We spent $340 on dinner and I've never felt so ripped off at a restaurant in my life. Still left a 20% tip because I'm not a dick. On the bright side, my wife ordered a Manhattan and it was amazing. We frequent Char, Butcher & Singer and Peter Luger's and this place can't touch their scraps. Save your money and go elsewhere. I do recommend hitting the town. My husband and I decided to go out to treat ourselves a really nice dinner, and plan to spend more anyway. However, it is TRULY NOT worth it. Again, I don't mind it cost more than twice as much as what I used to, such as the nice local Italian restaurant Bensi. 1) Bady back Rib that I got : hmm.. I got better taste rib from a local diner. I highly doubt it was barbecued. The meat tasted like "boiled" first, then burnt slightly at the exterior with some bbq sauce on top. Taste extremely bland. 2) Samon : asked for medium, it came well done and dry. Both cost more than 2X as much as I would have paid for from a local nice gourmet restaurant Bensi. 3) $9 for a single bottle of 12 oz domestic beer! I personally think it is really pretentious for the waiter to address me as "my lady". Get out of here! Honestly, that really turns me off! If you want to take your company and treat them there purely just for the appearance, and wishing to show ambience of the restaurant being far more important than the good, yes, this is the place to go. If you look for good food, you will come out feeling totally being ripped off! Wolfgang Steakhouse management, you really need to look into this. Your restaurant used to bear good name for good food. First time here and it was an amazing experience. The staff were friendly and outgoing. They sat us early, which is awesome. The dining area was fantastic. The wait staff was friendly, on point, and right there when needed. They were not hovering but they were very attentive. The food from drinks to desert was beyond words. I had lamb chops that melted in my mouth. The mint jelly was plentiful and because it was very subtle it was the perfect enhancement to the lamb chops. The grilled asparagus was just how I like it and the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. If you're looking for a place for a special occasion, save your money up and go to Wolfgang's. It's so worth the money, just keep in mind, it is a pricey experience, but so worth it. read more

Went here for my mother's birthday tonight - the food was great! However, the service was subpar. It was a Friday night, so understandably there was a substantial crowd and the restaurant was full pretty much the entire time we were here. Normally that would be fine, but all of the tables around us ran through their entire 3 course meal by the time our appetizers came out. Once again, it would be fine if everyone was on pace, but two of these tables sat after us, and it was unclear why our orders were taking so long to be completed. I knew Wolfgang's Steakhouse was and is expanding everywhere, both domestically and internationally. But, I was still surprised when I found one in Somerville, NJ, of all places. It is not a metropolitan city, or any kind of major city, really, so it seemed a bit out of the place. Regardless, I had opportunities to visit this location, and I am always up for a good meal, anywhere, anytime. One benefit of having a restaurant in NJ vs. NY is that they get more land. This restaurant was huge, even comes with nice outside seating. In case you are wondering the connection between Wolfgang's Steakhouse and Wolfgang Puck, make no mistake, they are two completely different and separate entities. I visited this spot twice, and we have gotten their infamous bacon, salmon, seafood pasta, and burger with bacon and cheese. Both times were during lunch time, so it more affordable than the dinner time. The portion of the food was enormous, I did not finish the entire food, on both visits. Everything I had so far has been really great. Maybe you should stick with non-steak item (from what I heard from others), the pasta, burger, all of those were great. The service is a bit relaxed, took a longer lunch time since it took a while to get the waiter's attention. Even though, i feel like the service was better here than one of their Manhattan location. The staffs here were nicer, friendlier, and didn't make any mistake with the order (I didn't have good experience at their Manhattan location). Disappointed in dinner tonight. The main waiter was so unfriendly, the restaurant was crowded/noisy & the table was terrible. They put us in the corner where the waiters have to put in the orders, print the bill & table setup supplies. Waiters were constantly coming by the table to get to this spot, and it was not a relaxing atmosphere at all. Today is my birthday, we put it on the reservation, & we mentioned it to the waiter. They didn't even say happy birthday, yet we saw another table being sung to and they got free dessert. The food was all delicious, but we spent over $300 and expect the service to reflect the prices. Not keeping up with the Chef's name. The Manhattan clam chowder was runny and overly salted, the salad was made with lettuce that had lost its green charm and for $12 was over priced. My friends burger was undercooked when he had asked for a medium. the Bread they brought to the table was great. the table cloths were clean. The server took off the Chowder off the bill, but that's not the point. The point was the experience of "chef worth" food, which we did not get. My sister and I took my parents here for their anniversary. Restaurant has a lot of curb appeal. Indoor and outdoor seating are available. More or less the typical steakhouse selections, none of the menu options really blew me away. I ordered an Old Fashioned, my mom got an LIT, my dad got a rum and coke, and my sister got some sour drink...the drinks were good. For apps we got the lettuce wedge, mixed salad, calamari, and mozzarella and tomato dish. Lettuce wedge was great and the thick chopped bacon was delicious. I did try some of the calamari...my father felt the batter on the outside could have been crunchier but...it wasn't bad. For mains I had the filet of sole, my sister had salmon, my father got this seafood medley dish that came with linguine, and my mom got chicken parm. For sides we got mashed potatoes, sautéed spinach, and lobster mac...the sole was good. Lobster Mac was good. Not too much cheese...some restaurants try to basically make Mac and cheese into a soup, but this had the right ratio of cheese to macaroni to lobster. My mom and sister liked their meals. My father wasn't in love with his food. Might just come down to his overall selection. The food was fine, the review will now transition to the service...it's not on par with the ambiance and reputation that I thought Wolfgang's held. Our waiter wasn't as attentive as he could have been. Often saw him on his cell phone and laughing with other waiters...about halfway through the meal two other waiters ended up helping us with dessert and wrapping up food and any other requests. Original waiter wasn't even around for the bill. Other thing that I thought was off was server etiquette. When clearing a table between courses, trained waiters don't typically reach across your body to clear out or when your meal arrives reach across your setting in any fashion. We waited no less than 30 mins after our apps for our mains to come out. Mind you we ordered our apps and mains together. We all started looking around like we were waiting on a train or bus...My overall feeling regarding the experience at Wolfgang's is...don't believe the hype. Standard experience. Food was slightly above average. Enjoyed the evening because of the company and conversation but left feeling like we should have went to Catherine Lombardis or some place that first bite gives you that take your breathe away moment. read more

This restaurant definitely has the worst service I've ever been, my family and I felt that we were discriminated against. All tables surrounded us the waiter would stop by and asked what they need while we were finished for over 10 minutes with plates all over the table but not once he stopped by and asked. The manager isn't any better, I called the manager over and he didn't seem that he cared at all. I get it, they don't care if I don't get ever return to this restaurant they will still have tons of customers. We got better service at applebee than at this place. Will not be returning. read more

This was truly an experience. After reading a mixture of reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had high hopes for the food and didn't really expect much from the services--you can say I set the bar low. My fiance was craving steak so I made a reservation here for his birthday. As expected, it was kind of difficult to get service but I think that is because they were packed for a Monday evening. Anyways, we were not bothered by having to wait a bit longer to for our drink. I feel like the next time, I will order my food the same time they come for my drink order...lol. Now let's talk about the food...IT WAS EXCEPTIONAL!! We started off with their fried calamari--delicious! My fiance got the steak and he said it melted like butter in his mouth. I got the seafood pasta....absolutely delicious!! We also go the lobster mac and cheese which was also fantastic. As you can see, we absolutely enjoyed every bit of the food. We were so full that we skipped the dessert menu, but because it was my fiance's birthday, they brought over a complimentary slice of cheesecake and sang happy birthday to him. Last evening would have been 5 stars, had 3 bus boys not asked us if we wanted dessert while we were still dining. After a perfect meal, with 5 star service, we were enjoying the last of our fairly expensive bottle of wine. The waiter cleared our table and said he would come back when we finished the wine, to see if we wanted dessert. Within 5 minutes, with each of us still having half a glass of wine or more, the person that brought our bread came over and asked if we want dessert. I told him our server was on it and we were enjoying our wine. Another 5 minutes later and again about 3 minutes after that, people that were setting tables or doing some other support staff jobs, interrupted us regarding dessert. I get it, you want to flip the table, but have some respect for your patrons. We were there for a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes and the total bill, including the coffee and desserts we ordered was almost $400.00. I'm on the fence about returning. The cocktails, wine, food, including soup, salads, entrees and sides were all great. The service from our waiter was second to none, including decanting and pouring each of our glasses of wine and pouring all of our sparkling water. Returning would be a no-brainer had a not been for the last minute push out of the door. I was waiting for the car valet to appear to see if we wanted dessert, but he never showed. We started with a personal greeting with Wolfgang himself, which was a nice touch. This steakhouse has changed how I feel about steak entirely. Our table got the porterhouse for 2, ribeye, and seabass. The porterhouse is served on a sizzling hot plate, sliced upon request. It is slightly charred with flavor on the outside and perfectly cooked to the temperature we requested. The filet within the porterhouse is u.n.r.e.a.l. -- melts in your freaking mouth. Overall, a more than pleasant dining experience. Beautiful and spacious decor (you can also elect to sit outside), professional service, delicious wine selection, and valet parking.
