I'll update this review one day when I come back for the food!…read more Stopped by on our way home from Solvang. My dad and I have always talked about going here and since I was nearby on my honeymoon decided to make a trip to check it out. The parking is insane but I'm glad we decided to stop anyway. They have a tiny lot mostly for motorcycles so cars/trucks/suvs park along the side of the windy 2 lane mountain road! Make sure to slow way down when getting close as there are cars and people along both sides of the road. We grabbed a couple drinks and walked around to see all the old buildings. If you like history this is the place for you! The owners were collectors of old buildings and old items that are all over the property. It's a pretty big space too. The food all smelled so good. They have a restaurant on site with table service and full menu, and a small stand serving up freshly grilled tri tip sandwiches that looked amazing. There was live music so we just say around for a while enjoying the ambiance. The drinks are strong, staff is super nice, and it feels like stepping back in time. I'll be back for some food soon!

We stopped by Cold Spring Tavern on a Saturday for lunch with a party of 12 after hearing about…read moretheir famous Tri-Tip sandwiches. It was definitely busy--we waited about 30 minutes for a table, and once seated, our food arrived in another 20 minutes. Considering how crowded it was, the service was friendly and efficient. They were also accommodating by splitting our bill into two checks, which we really appreciated. Parking is limited to roadside parking, so I recommend arriving early, especially on weekends. Here's what we ordered: Original Cold Spring Tri-Tip Sandwich (with Onion Rings) The oak-grilled, thick-sliced tri-tip was full of smoky flavor. I prefer my tri-tip more juicer though. The house-made BBQ sauce complemented the beef without overpowering it. I upgraded the side to onion rings for an additional $3.50, and it was the best decision! These were honestly some of the best onion rings I've ever had--perfectly crispy on the outside, sweet and tender on the inside, and not greasy at all. French Dip with Soup of the day (cream of artichoke) If you're deciding between the Tri-Tip sandwich and the French Dip, they're very similar. The biggest difference is that the French Dip comes with a flavorful au jus for dipping, along with an apple horseradish sauce that adds a nice tangy kick. If you enjoy dipping your sandwich, this is a great choice. The cream of artichoke soup was heart warming, not overly salty, I like it. Smoked Bacon BLT A solid sandwich with crispy bacon, fresh vegetables, and toasted bread. Simple but satisfying. Famous Beer Batter Onion Rings These deserve their own mention. They're light, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. Even if you don't upgrade your meal, I highly recommend ordering an extra basket to share. Grilled Vegetable Salad A nice lighter option with grilled vegetables that added a smoky flavor and balanced out all the hearty sandwiches. The atmosphere is one of the highlights of dining here. The historic tavern has a rustic charm, and the outdoor picnic table seating under the trees makes for a relaxing lunch, especially if you're enjoying a scenic drive through the mountains. Overall, the wait was worth it. Great food, generous portions, beautiful surroundings, and friendly service. If you're driving through the Santa Barbara area or taking Highway 154, Cold Spring Tavern is definitely worth making a stop for. Just be prepared for a wait on weekends!

My friends and I sat outside as the weather was beautiful over the weekend. Staff was friendly and when we got there, it was already busy. You can tell it's popular as the line in the entry was pretty long. The food was so fresh! I had a sweet hibiscus tea with an egg, bacon & avocado wrap. Everything was tasty and they also have their own hot sauce which was a nice touch.

You can get new tires next door, but while you're waiting, you can catch breakfast or lunch. Outdoors, there's a lot of seating. Wooden tables and wicker chairs. Awnings and large umbrella coverings. You pay first, and then they seat you. There's some seating indoors, but it's limited, compared to outdoors. I ordered a latte ($5.50) and avocado toast ($16). They add a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card. There is a window for to-go orders, but if you're dining in, you place your order with the gal at the podium. I have to say, although there were two staff working on drinks, my latte took a while. Luckily, it came before the food. There was a staff member waiting at the counter and delivering just drinks. Once I got my latte, it tasted good. Strong. I felt the caffeine. The avocado toast was good, too. It was served in a shallow metal dish. Thick, high quality, Artisan bread. I enjoyed the toasted pumpkin seeds. I would definitely order it again, but open to ordering something else on the menu next time. Staff are friendly, welcoming, and efficient. There was another gentleman standing in the back, immediately clearing tables. It's better if you come earlier on the weekends. There was a line of people when I was leaving. There's plenty of free street parking. I parked across the street.

Stopped by this place on a recent visit to Santa Barbara…read more Not a lot of positive to say, but not bad enough to give it one star. That's for the worst of the worst. There was an indoor area, and we didn't know at the time, but there are separate outdoor waiter service areas and counter service. We did counter service. There were two people at registers. There was literally no one in front of us and no marked nor even obvious line area. Naturally we stand a few feet in front of one of the registers waiting for her to say, "can I help you" before we move to. Instead the woman (to make it worse, I think she was the patio manager because she was older than the others and seemed to be doing more things than just working a register) gives us the, "I need you to wait in the line area over there" and points to a barrel with no indication that it's a line. You know like the old David Spade skit. This already left a bad taste in my mouth because again there was no line marked, no one waiting, and it's not like we got up in her space or were being pushy. She was just power tripping. To make it worse, we came here because they literally have "full bar" painted on the outside of the building, and the other places around are mostly wine bars or beer gardens. BUT (keep reading)... One of the young people working calls us from the "line of just us" to help us (because of course the other woman wasn't going to). They have 3 specialty margaritas listed. I ask if I can just get a "regular margarita". She says "no because they only sell pre-made drinks". Uh, what about the FULL BAR? Then we sit down. They have a few long picnic bench style tables. They all had a party at them but they were big so we asked a group if we could share the opposite end. The other customers were cool and had no problem with it. BUT... There were no napkins nor condiments. When our food arrived, it was mediocre. We left unhappy but didn't make a fuss. As we were leaving, the power tripping woman thanked us for coming as if she hadn't just been a total B to us for no reason.
