I heard a lot of great things about O2 over the years, but I never got around to trying it until recently. A few friends wanted Korean BBQ this past spring and I decided to accompany them for a AYCE party at O2 on a Saturday afternoon. The place doesn't have a parking lot, but you can usually find parking in the neighborhood. The place is medium sized and there weren't too many people there when we arrived around 11:30am. I called ahead of time and they confirmed that pricing on the weekends is set at their standard dinner rate ($38). So we got to ordering and eating, and pretty much everything we ordered was delicious. I think we tried the spicy chicken, spicy pork bulgogi, spicy pork rib, pork belly, beef bulgogi, beef thin brisket, kalbi marinated steak, and spicy squid. I was so busy eating that I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted. I'm no expert but it seems like all their meats are pretty quality status and nothing really tasted like it was sub par except for the bean paste stew, which was a bit more watery than good ones I've had at other Korean restaurants. So kudos to 02 on the taste front. Service was pretty good too; I wouldn't say the people attending to our table were friendly but they were fairly responsive. With all this said, I scruntinize value pretty heavily when I review food joints and I had to dock a lot of points due to the price point. From what I understand, 02 used to be a fair bit cheaper, but it seems like they've raised their prices during corona and these inflationary times. Which I understand. After tax and tip, I paid close to $50 ($49.58 to be exact). I think I would probably rate 02 more favorably if I came for lunch on a weekday, which can be as cheap as $22 / person from what I see on their website. But I have to judge based on my own experience, and I thought it was very expensive. read more

Haven't been here in years, thought we would give it another try. First experience was below average. Unfortunately this time around was about the same. I would say it's 2.5 stars. We left full but unsatisfied. Quality was just okay, flavors lacking. We didn't love anything but my favorite is Kalbi but even that wasn't that flavorful. Tried a few sides which were decent. Service was fine, they cook the meats for you but otherwise not much engagement or friendliness. They tend to give you very big portions so if you want to try more than 4 items to start, you should ask for half portions. By round 2 we were already getting full but still wanted to try other things so we asked for much smaller portions. O2 is the Go-To !! full of flavors and extraordinary service a great authentic korean bbq experience with an assortment of banchon and pickles. the staff do the bbqing for you but leave the utensils if the customer wants to flip it themselves. they have an all you can eat menu for lunch and dinner times at a set price fixed price. i went for dinner and got a wide range of beef options like bulgolgi and steaks all marinated and seasoned to perfection. i also recommended getting a side like rice and lettuce as it complements the meat really well. stay away from the fried rice cake, it's not good and bland. my personal favorite is the steaks which doesn't take too long to cook. what's great is the atmosphere! very cost and family oriented. i will def come back here one of these days if i'm ever in the area. be aware to book reservations because on a regular day ppl can be waiting up to 2 hours. the food is very clean and i left quite satisfied! read more

I came here for date night after my first exam week for my second year at my professional program. This kbbq spot definitely hit the spot. Food: Compared to Cast Iron Pot, another local KBBQ place, I preferred the quality of the meat at this spot. The selection if meats covers a variety of options for chicken, pork, and beef. Our favorites for the night were the Kalbi, the marinated chicken, and the pork jowl and we got two orders of each. The hanging tender steak was quite good too. For extra sides, we asked for lettuce leaves, garlic and jalapenos, steamed egg, and soybean paste stew. Service: Our server was very nice and cooked all of our meats for us. I was not sure if that was the case for all customers because I saw some people trying to grill their meats themselves. Either way, his help was much appreciated. We also did not have to wait long at all for our orders to come back and start grilling. Ambiance: This place reminded me so much of Cast Iron Pot (another local KBBQ spot) with the TV set up and the cast iron grill tops that they used. However, compared to Cast Iron, I felt like this place had a lot more room to walk around and for seating. And the staff seem over worked. - a bit of an attitude when you remind them that you ordered something and it didn't come. Great place for large groups! I came here as a group of 5 on a Friday night and we were seated quickly. The space is large however it does get busy later on. The service was attentive. Now for the food it was yummm! We tried the marinated chicken, bulgogi, and the brisket. The servers were attentive on flipping the meat when necessary. The meat was tender and juicy, so delicious! We also ordered white rice and veggies however I was disappointed that they didn't provide a lot of veggies. It was a very small ration for a group of 5. I came with a group or 7 around 6pm on a Sunday night and was seated almost immediately. We waited no more than 10 min. Sat down and immediately served water and their complimentary side dishes. My group and I basically got one of everything except maybe the chicken and our server was kind enough to cook them for us!! They also consistently changed our plates and grills so that youre not left with the weird sticky mess. Honestly for like $42/pp with tip and tax, you really can't go wrong.. you can eat however much you want and they dont usually kick out out unless it's busy and they need the table at the 90 minute mark. Korean BBQ with TV's and K-Pop music. Meat selection is abundant, pricing relatively fair however very little side dish selection to accompany the meat overload. The meats itself mostly plain and not seasoned thus little to no flavor unless you drown in dipping sauce. Honestly nothing special jumps out but it's clean, attentive service and away from bustling Flushing and Northern Blvd area. therefore easy parking. Needed a spot that was open late to eat in Flushing & found 02. It's located in Bayside but that's close enough to Flushing where I could eat & make it back in 2 hours time. 1 thing that I didn't know (Because I didn't check) was that it was AYCE. I didn't know this until I walked up to the restaurant & it was in big red letters . Now I hate AYCE because the quality of meats is usually poor but I was already here so I decided to give it a shot. Spot is pretty small, so I can imagine the wait times can jump up to 2 hours especially because people love AYCE KBBQ. They take your temperature at the front like all restaurants in New York. I told the host that I didn't have a reservation & I was still seated within 5 minutes mainly because it was 10:30pm. 02 uses the scan menus like most restaurants & it's all you can eat up to 100 minutes. Started with the Peach Makgeolli of course because it's the King of Rice Wine. I wanted a Kloud beer & they said they didn't have it so I ordered a Hite beer & they said they didn't have that either lol so I just stuck with my Makgeolli. Ok now let's get to the meats. You must know that because of Covid they do not cook for you but some people (Including Me) are fine with this. I like to eat my beef on the medium rare side not well done like how some places serve it to you. The brisket & the pork belly are the big takeaways from this place. Brisket was a strong 8 out of 10 & the pork belly was about an 8.5 very VERY good! I loved the hot sauce that they give you OMG try that. I usually am good with the sesame oil & bean paste but this hot sauce MANNNN Get that. I ordered the Kalbi but knowing what I know about Kalbi it's either going to be 1 of 2 things if it's on an AYCE menu. It's either 1. Wack Or 2. Not real Kalbi It was both hahaha they have 2 different types of Kalbi. 1 of them is thinly slice like how everyone knows it to be & the other is hella thick. Both of them were whatever though as I expected, you don't put Kalbi on AYCE it's just not a real thing. Tried the spicy squid also & that was a big disappointment as well. It just wasn't really good, maybe a 6 out of 10 at best. The bulgogi brought them back up though, now that was hella good along with some delicious steamed egg. Also I read some reviews about them not changing the grill but I didn't have that problem. I mean, when it comes to kbbq, the most popular cut of the meat kalbi . I don't know when they added kalbi to their menu but it's definitely a great addition to say the least... . While it's AYCE, they limit to 4 items per order. The first couple of rounds, they do give a decent portion, but you really need to go with people who love to eat meat... . After the first couple of rounds, they do reduce their portion sizes, which is the correct way, so that you don't over order and worse waste food. So keep in mind, order your favorite meats in the beginning... . We got the brisket (shown), top blade, kalbi marinated (tender), bulgogi, spicy pork belly, kalbi marinated, marinated chicken and spicy squid.. . I think for the most part, the meats were good quality and tasted good. I participle enjoyed the brisket, maybe it was the first meat cooked and I was hungry... . Their top blade and kalbi marinated are thicker cuts so they are beefier in taste, but when you order cook it, it can be a bit tough/dry... . The ventilation was ok, we had a big party, party of 8, we had 2 grills.. I was rather unlucky to have sat at the inner side by the wall, where it was almost impossible for any staff to get to so needless to say, my side didn't get much help with the cooking, so we, mainly I, did about 95% of the cooking... I reeked like kbbq like there was no tmrw... . Aside from that, the service wasn't bad, they replenished the ban chan upon request and took our orders when we needed it. Looks like this place got worse from a few years ago. Everything pretty much was underwhelming to seriously bad. First off, we reserved the back room area for a party of 12 for 6:30 pm. On our way to the restaurant, they call to confirm our reservation, which was odd. The person on the phone was also rude. So we get to the restaurant and he gives us different tables than what we asked for. We ended up having to wait an additional 45 minutes in their lobby, which was absolutely freezing. There doesn't seem to be any heater and when the door opens, the room fills with cold air. The back room was not very warm even with a heater there. Overall, this place is dirty and worn. If you don't want to lose your appetite, don't go into the men's bathroom. I'm pretty sure the back of the house doesn't fall too far from what your dining in. It's dark here on purpose. So on to the food, which was horrific. We ordered chadol baegi (beef brisket), galbi, pork spare ribs, samgyupsal (pork belly) and some sort of spicy pork. The only thing decent was the chadol baegi. The other cuts of meat were some of the worst quality that I've ever seen. Even the egg casserole was burnt and the soups had very little ingredient with terrible cuts of meat. The staff tried to offer good service but it fell flat. We basically cooked the meat ourselves, had to re-ask several times for additional side dishes and it took a while for everything to come out. Now onto the worst part - how we felt that evening and the day after. Some of us had some serious stomach pain from the food. I don't think it was because we overate, but because the quality of the meat was really questionable. Overall, I will never go back here again. Even though it feels like yesterday, it's been three years since O2 came bursting onto Queens scene. Already a household name in NJ (#1), its arrival couldn't have come at a better time. The borough was already down to just 1 true AYCE KBBQ place and was starved (#2) for something better. O2 managed to do just that and brought some life back to this sleepier side of Bell Blvd. The place wasn't big, but the brightly lit interior, shiny table tops with industry grade cauldron style grills, good ventilation, solid array of meats, and an eager wait staff made coming here an easy choice. Additionally the there was KPop videos blasting in background and they were open past midnight. This was my kind of place. Then things got busy. Every day and night. The price was so good that the demand eventually drew in a crowd. Parking wasn't always easy and the long wait times created an expectation for newcomers and the staff was always under a lot of pressure to get everything situated. Often times there was a wait for food and sometimes it felt like we were being rushed out so that the new crowd could come in. The food was always a thumbs up for me. The banchan wasn't all that plentiful, but they did a good job with providing a fresh bowl of house salad and a nice variety of dipping sauces. There were nearly 20 kinds of meats with stews, soups, rice cakes to choose from. I was always a fan of the thin brisket, spicy pork belly, soy pork rib and especially the hanging tender steak. I would avoid the pork skin only because it cooked super fast and was tough to get off the grill. Fast forward to present day, indoor dining is finally open again. Their sections within the restaurant are socially distanced, the servers are wearing plenty of protective gear, and the food is still consistently tasty. Returned to O2 today ... first day back to indoor dining (the second time resuming indoor dining by Cuomo) for lunch. Food was yum as usual. The social distancing guidelines in the dining area was really very, very good ... almost perfect and ideal. I say that because I have to say the last time I came here with my family back in early November, their social distancing dining situation was a joke. I don't remember if indoor capacity was supposed to be at 50% or 25%, because the restaurant was at 100% capacity. Looking at the indoor dining today, I have to say ... BRAVO O2, well done! The prices for AYCE have changed since before the pandemic but with restaurants suffering and market prices increasing, you can't fault businesses increasing their prices. Jennifer was our waitress and she is amazing! She has such great energy and is so pleasant. I loved how fast the service was and how fast the food came out. It was Mother's Day and there was zero wait, as they have plenty of seats. The meat was good- our fav was the beef brisket. From the sides our fav was the steamed eggs-soooo good. Jennifer gave us some samples of new dishes they were making(japchae jeon & crunchy chicken) and they were so good! They were also giving free complimentary mimosas for Mother's Day. I do wish they had marinated galbi bone in ribs like the other AYCE places. Their steamed egg is absolutely delicious. I had two orders with my rice. I also like the kimchi and various sauces you get with your food. Overall, really good value at $40/pp. don't skip on all the marinated meats and extra egg! Came here on a Friday night and it was very busy. Reservations are highly recommended especially during busier times. We had to wait 15 mins although we had a reservation. The food was worth the wait as it was very worth the price and the quality of the meat was pretty good. Although the side dishes were lackluster and I would pass on the tofu stew. It didn't have much flavor. The crispy rice cake and steamed egg were better but the steamed egg wasn't as fluffy and nice as it could've been.
