Cuisine: 7 Service: 7 Decor: 6 Value: 7 Overall: 7 I have been here three times now. I had Korean BBQ the first two times. Last night, I had some soup/stews and marinated raw crabs. I would say this is a very solid restaurant overall. While the Korean BBQ was decent, my favorite thing so far is definitely the Black Goat Soup from last night. I would definitely go back for that again. My second favorite thing might be their Soy Sauce Marinated Raw Blue Crabs. The Galbijim was super tender, but the sauce/soup was way too sweet. The owner is a super friendly old lady from Seoul, who has been in the US for 60 years. She chatted with us and mentioned how much she loves the US and NYC. As for the servers, we were in an isolated room and sometimes it did feel like they forgot about us. When they do come by, they were nice. The restaurant does get some other local clientele, but it's mostly filled by Koreans. That's always a good sign. In an area with a growing population of Koreans, this place will be busy for a long time imho.

I am drooling just thinking about the delicious soy marinated crabs and kalbi from this restaurant. This is a wonderful spot for Korean barbecue and their other dishes are just as incredible. I was able to share many items with my party and never stopped eating. My top bites had to be the crab, kalbi and their cold noodles. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Especially that crab. Their kalbi is extremely tender and silky tasting in my opinion. It really leaves you wanting more. I'd highly recommend this spot if you're in the area but make sure you come hungry!

If Korean BBQ is on your mind and you're anywhere near Queens, Sung Book Dong should be top of mind. Our family ordered servings of both the marinated and plain short ribs and I was shocked by how tender and flavorful these meats were. The server comes by to cook, flip, and cut the meats on a tabletop grill so that all you need to do is to have your chopsticks and appetite ready. Best of all, they use a gas grill AND a low-hanging vent over the tabletop grill. I know there are folks out there who'll argue the merits of cooking over charcoal briquets (which some other restaurants do), but there's nothing worse than having dinner and then smelling it on your clothes for days to come. Ordering any of the BBQ meats not only means you get to watch the best meat-based tabletop cooking show; it also means the rest of your table space will be littered with all kinds of banchan, or free side dishes. You'll see all the standards like a dressed salad, kimchi, and sesame-seasoned spinach, but there's all kinds of other special ones here - kabocha squash salad, a savory Korean egg soufflé, and raw marinated crab. We also tried the seafood pancake, which was outstanding. Crispy, full of seafood, and sizable enough to share as a party of four, this was a lovely accompaniment to all the meat. If there are downsides, it's with the little things. While the interior of the restaurant is pretty large, the tables are fit in close together so get ready to eavesdrop on lots of conversations at neighboring tables (and vice versa). This restaurant is a hotspot for Korean BBQ and it shares space with a few other businesses in the complex, so what little parking is available in the lot goes fast. We're often better off finding street parking along neighboring streets.

OMG they had the most tender meat I've ever had at a Korean bbq place. The bulgogi and short ribs (their special marinade not LA galbi) almost melts in your mouth and wasn't too sweet. The banchan that came out was more on the simple side. Good but nothing to brag about. The cold noodles broth was like a slushie with great flavor and acidity. They do bring out extra vinegar and hot mustard on the side so if you like your cold noodles extra vinegary or want a slight kick, go for it! Super refreshing and perfect for the warm weather we've been having. Good service. Server took the time to explain/answer all the questions I had. This is not AYCE but they do have different meats as a la carte or have meat combo options. I didn't get to take a picture of all the menu pages but I included the lunch and meat combo menu. PARKING- the lot is very small. I got lucky with a parking spot in front right before lunch rush hour. There is a garage in the plaza but I'm not sure if they charge. Seems like a lot of people park on the street.

It's a restaurant tucked away in a small plaza in Little Neck. Food wise, this place is as authentic and bomb as it gets. The banchan is homemade, unique and super tasty. They have white kimchi, which is a 10/10 in taste and texture. They also give soy sauce marinated raw crabs, anchovies with peppers, and this egg omelette. I got the bulgogi dolsot bibimbap. It was a huge portion size and the flavor was spot on. The accompanying vegetables in the bibimbap were sooo good. Have also had their spicy soondubu, and the flavor was rich and deep. At the end of the meal they also give a small cup of homemade sikhye, which is super refreshing. Highly recommend this place. Service is 10/10 as well, the owner is an older lady that's always there, she's friendly and always asks us how our meal is.

We heard they are very generous when it comes to banchans so had to come and see for ourselves. The rumors are true! 11 plates of banchan is pretty amazing and uncommon these days. Tried soy marinated raw crab and the clam and spinach stew. We thought the soy marinated crab was fantastic! The clam soup had 3-4 tablespoons of minced garlic at the end which was hard to finish without getting a mouth full of garlic bits. They are known for their Korean BBQ so curious to try that next.

High quality marinated short ribs - one of my favorites in the Queens area. You pay for what you get - 1 serving of short ribs is about $56. Expect to pay about $80-100/pp depending on the cuts of meat you get and drinks you might have as well. Server will cook it for you perfectly and provide you with your side dishes, drinks, etc. Service is usually pretty good, although they are usually incredibly busy so you may have to flag someone down if you need something urgently. Several tables for bbq along the perimeter and non bbq tables in the center. Tables are good for both small and larger groups.

What the hell, this place is a must-visit. The food is fab, and you'll experience the Korean service here, but if you want authentic, this is what you'll get in Korea. So think of it as an experience and try the food. We also paid a tremendous amount for the aged kimchi with pork, DAMN. It fed 3 people with 1-2 servings of leftovers, and it was DELISH. I am bookmarking and definitely coming back... Thank you, please don't close!!

Food here is always good with friendly service. The parking lot gets crowded though so you might be able to find street parking as well. I LOVE their combo specials.

I never leave reviews and i hate to leave a bad one because i know how it affects the business.. With that being said, I am so annoyed with the food and service that I had to write one. Got the marinated beef (galbi) and it was fatty and mid at best. The rice smelt like it was in the rice cooker for days and tasted awful. The side dishes were terrible and a quarter of it seemed spoiled. The peppers looked spoiled the lettuce was old and flimsy. Didn't even get the steamed eggs that every bbq spot gives, and they blamed it on "it's late, sorry". Expensive and not worth it, there are dozens of way better spots, DO NOT waste your time with this placed, sucha disappointment. I sound like a karen but it had to be done, step your game up if you dont want to go out of business.

Soy marinated raw crab - ok la...

Really enjoyed the loud atmosphere, reminds me of Ktown... a little old school, meat quality was just ok, nothing spectacular that would require a 2nd visit. Service is insanely fast! They want to turnover the tables mad quick. We were a party of 12... so we took up precious commodity... we ordered, got food right away and finished within an hour and 15 mins. The Ahjummas kept the food moving! The bus boys removed plates quick and we ate fast. We ordered a bunch of BBQ meats, pork belly, pork jowl... short ribs, briskets... fried mandu, japchae, pancakes and soy marinated raw crabs... not enough roe... it was ok. Also got a hotpot and it was too much food... The banchans were plenty and we all left very very full! Just be prepare for a lightening fast meal. Have fun, eat and get out. #yelpinginqueens #kbbq #yelplife

With all the Korean BBQ places in Queens I finally ended up at Sung Book Dong. To say I love Korean barbecue would be an understatement. The restaurant is large with each table having its own hanging vacuum for the smoke from the barbecue to go into. The portions of the food are quite nice so we ordered a set of steak barbecue and a fish soup. The staff was quick to get our order and start cooking it for us. They were extremely attentive and continued to run over to make sure the food was being cooked properly and drinks were flowing. The food was quite tasty and flavorful.

Located on Northern Blvd at the Eastern border of Bayside, Queens just before Little Neck; small shared parking lot in front and lower level small garage; offering Kbbq but come here for the soy sauce marinated raw crab and stews; good assortment of included quality side dishes; clean & well ventilated interior; casual vibe but can get quite busy; expect a wait during peak rush; call for reservations or takeout. *ppffffffffffft pffffffffft* (well, that was a bit more flatulent than usual)…read more"Very good, now can you blow a B flat?" So this is it, I am now the 3rd trombone in the stage band. Repressed memories bite in weird ways as I thought back at my high school days while munching on cold fermented veggies - back in the heady days of the early 90s when cellphones were analog bricks and a PC was a beige tower with an IBM logo embossed upon it, I was once a shot nosed, pudgey asian kid. I thought a Trombone will help me talk to girls (go with a guitar or a ukelele instead), and since I wasn't selected for the computer club, I ended up at stage band class at my NYC specialized high school. When you don't really care enough about playing to be good at it, you are going to sound mediocre, and when half the room is also winging it, the results were merely tolerable. After the band performance at an assembly there's a potluck, and they are ready-made, heat-and-eat affairs with items from CostCo or Boston market. It's a checkmark on someone's calendar, an obligation to be fulfilled without much passion or excitement. Just like the students' dispassionate stage band attendance, their boughie parents are feeding the class with an easy "out" - when I grew up in Corona the poorer kids and their parents did their own cooking, and I had some really spectacular food during the school potluck days. In the presence of affluence you trade quality for convenience and lost a sense of thoughtfulness... All of that rushed back into my head when me and the missus ended up in front of a fancy-ish storefront in Suburban Douglaston at what was formerly an Italian sunday gravy joint (Giadinero?) but now as a Korean eatery. Something seems off though...It's 1p Sunday - where's the customers, and why is it so devoid of the aroma of food? Kimchi is essentially the resurrected Kumgangsan, a former restaurant chain with locations at midtown K-town and downtown Flushing. They had a banchan store called Jangchi Jangchi but they went away during the 2020 pandemic. They promised a 10 dollar Kimchi sampling menu with rice, soup and noodles - this sounds great in early 2025...but is it worth it? Taken from a perspective of a community service joint, yeah, you won't leave hungry as it's all-you-can-eat. But if it's intricacies of Korean cuisine that you desire? Not so much. It's not that the cooking is bad, it's unexciting - for a tasting menu where you hope to taste the difference in kimchee varieties they are all about the same - fresh, cold, sour, but none particularly spicy, salty, funky or interesting. If your Korean auntie made something like this and she was told by her doctor to go easy on the salt or sugar for health reasons, you'll nod then gratefully enjoy. However, this is from an actual kimchi store and It's definitely very mild tasting. The same can be said about the shitake mushrooms and daikon banchan - the daikon is "soft enough for grandma" and both it and the mushrooms tasted like they fished it out of something else and marinated to recycle the ingredients. In addition to the 10 dollar kimchee tasting menu they also can serve you seollongantang, Galbi, bokkeum (squid) or the kalchi (grilled fish) at the typical price for a normal Korean sitdown with soju and a full menu, but they don't seem to have much turnover nor excitement. It felt like your Korean auntie's retiree cafeteria - to reinforce that assertion, when we ordered some steamed pork dumpling we got something that's a bit more bland and watery than expected, kinda like the challah and matzo ball soup at a diner frequented by retirees. We didn't go for their jarred kimchee afterwards as it was too plain for our likings. If we pass the area and want to get something cheap and filling, we might stop by...but with so many choices in the area it'll be tough to convince us to return soon...It was like sitting down in front of the band practice room with a trombone without much drive or excitement for it. Definitely an overly flatulent C minor...

***DELICIOUS KOREAN FAST FOOD*** ***FANTASTIC KIMBAP***…read more ITS ALMOST AN INSULT Mention fast food, and most individuals will think McDonald's. Burger King, Taco Bell, or some other similar crapola. So in my way of thinking, identifying Rolly Kimbap as a fast food restaurant is practically an insult, considering the quality of what's being served here. However, after placing an order you'll receive your food much quicker than a standard restaurant, so the fast food moniker is unavoidable. And this is true even more now, since all the dine-in tables were removed when Covid hit, making Rolly's a take-out only establishment. IT'S NOT SUSHI ! If someone whose never experienced Kimbap inquires, I'll explain that it's kinda like a Korean style sushi roll. But don't let others hear you say this, because you'l almost always get scolded by some fusspot, insisting that "It's not sushi!" So regardless of whatever you may think it is, I can assure you that the Kimbap at Rolly is one of my all time favorites, and made-to-order with supremely fresh and tasty ingredients. Even more, you can choose from about fourty different varieties, with the Avacado, Crab Salad, Spicy Chicken or Squid, Bulgogi, and Rolled Omelette being my top choices. And don't worry if you're really hungry, as each order of Kimbap here is substantial, and loaded with tasty ingredients. I mean, if you compare one piece of Kimbap at Rolly to a slice of a Japanese sushi roll, the difference in size is laughable. SO MANY OPTIONS Whenever I visit, just ordering Kimbap is impossible for me, as the menu is loaded with small eats, such as the Rice Balls, which are about the size of a medium orange, and are available with about twenty different fillings. Then there's the Crispy Chicken, which has a crunchy coating that seems to have rice crispies mixed in. The Tteok-bokki rice cakes are really delicious here, and can be ordered either spicy, fried, sweet & sour, or with seafood mixed in. And there's other sides like dumplings, corn dogs, and fries. NOODLES TOO Rolly's Spicy Ramen is a must-try item, that is served with a bold-red Gochujiang based broth similar in flavor to their Spicy Tteok-bokki sauce. And whenever I order this, it is so good, that I find it impossible to wait until I arrive home. So I'll always pop it open, and start eating while I'm driving, making a fantastic mess with the red broth all over my face, hands, and steering wheel. What a jackass I am sometimes! In addition, there's also a non-spicy Ramen Soup that can be ordered with different ingredients mixed in, Udon Noodle Soup, and last but not least, Korean Buckwheat Cold Noodles that are really tasty. KING OF BENTO If your hungry for a full pre-made meal, Rolly Kimbap's Bento Boxes - listed as meals on the menu - are fantastic. Order one, and you will be presented with something that is beautiful to look at, really delicious, and very filling. For example, a Fried Rice Meal includes a nice sized portion of fried rice, topped with a fried egg, along with sides such as salad, vegetables, macaroni salad and pickled daikon, to name a few. Another example is the Spicy Pork, Squid, And Bulgogi Meal, that comes with white rice, salad, broccoli, fish cakes, Korean sausage, a vegetable pancake, and seasoned bean sprouts as side dishes. Even more, if you're feeding two people, Rolly offers different Couples Sets, such as the #144 which includes a Bento box with kimbap, fried pork cutlet & sides, along with a large order of Spicy Tteok-bokki. LOVE THIS PLACE I only award a four star rating to Rolly Kimbap, because you can definitely find better versions of their hot dishes, such as Jeyuk bokkeum spicy pork or Soondubu spicy tofu stew at top Korean restaurants. But at the same time, it's really surprising how fantastic the food is at this small takeout spot. And on top of everything else, there's a very large parking lot behind the store, so parking is always a breeze. And so, if I'm driving on the LIE near exit 29, and it's time for lunch or dinner, there's a really good chance that I will stop here, because I really love this place. And at the same time, if you have a chance, give Rolly Kimbap a try, and you may fall in love with their Korean specialties too.
