Have not been to many Korean BBQ restaurants and this one was recommended to me. We arrived without a reservation and were promptly seated. We were greeted with some warm green tea which was welcomed as it was very cold outside. We got the Prime Dry Aged Rib Eye Steak and Marinated Angus Beef Short Rib. With that we got the Pancake with Seafood and Scallion, the Noodle with Sautéed Beef & Vegetables, These 4 things we adored! We also got the Steam Shrimp Dumplings which I need to be tried more to get to like them more. The steaks were perfectly cooked by the waitress The service was fast and professional and as it was our first time at a Korean BBQ restaurant, we needed some instruction to what to do which we were kindly assisted. The only problem of the place was that it was slightly cold in the restaurant. Even the staff was wearing down vests but there might be a reason for this. I have been to many all you can eat korean bbq, this one isnt an all you can eat but it almost felt that way. I came here with my wife for a lunch date before the kids are off for a week+. This was a nice meal and date. I came here for lunch on a Tuesday and it wasn't crowded but they were well staffed. All the staff members were attentive and nice. We ordered pork jowl and teuk galbi for the grill, which they grilled in front of us. The galbi was so tender while the pork jowl had some initial chew to it but was nicely marbled and soft as you ate it. Would totally recommend and reorder these 2 cuts of meat. The bone marrow soup was a bit bland, which my wife and I agreed that we would probably skip next time. The japchae was good and definitely something I would order next time when we return with the kids. One of the more expensive meals we've had, but was worth the price tag. Some of the best Korean BBQ I've ever had, great hospitality, and the place is very nice.

The meat was cooked very well. We tried the Thick pork belly, non marinated Ghalbi and prime ribeye steak. Everything tasted good, a lot of bonchon too. The seafood pancake was a little mid. Too much dough and it just didn't hit. Service wasn't the best. Water didn't get refilled and we asked for more bonchon but didn't get it. It's cool tho But it's very spacious in here. I have passed by this place many many times but never set foot here... I guess it was because the storefront was tinted and looked dark. We went there in an early evening on Sunday and it was already quite busy. I usually prefer a la carte places because it usually provides better quality of food. This place proved my theory. This place has set menu for 3 or more people and they contains alcoholic drinks. Since not all of us drink, we went a la carte and we could have beef and pork. Meat qualities were good. Very satisfying! Service on cooking was rush but typical and understandable because the place was very busy. But we weren't being rush to leave. Came here for lunch. They offered a set lunch special where you can pick a main and soup. I ordered the fried fish and spicy tofu soup. The fish was nice and crispy however towards the belly there was a bitter taste probably from how close it is to where the internal organs are. The tofu soup was amazing especially with the brown/purple rice they provided. Generous amounts of mini clams and tofu. I have gone now at least 3 times for their lunch special and it was definitely worth it, here's why, the little side dishes that come with your main food are different every time you come here, so it's always interesting to come and taste new dishes. We ordered the galbi - it's my favorite, and you get to pick a soup, since it's written in Korean I had to look it up on my phone to see what the soup was, but our server was nice enough to explain what the soup contains, and you can customize on your spice level. The lunch special also comes with the choice of white or purple rice. They immediately give you tea if you want to drink. After your meal, they ended it with a small cup of cinnamon tea, which is nice, and the server gave my husband some sort of a ginsing carbonated drink as well. We have been here for lunch and even dinner, every time we came, we were never disappointed. It's the same consistent quality and high five star service from the servers. They are extremely polite and helpful. They also sell dumplings in the store, as an appetizer the dumplings are really a good option. read more

Oh... it has been about 3 years since I've last visited... didnt realize I gave it a 1star before... had i checked before... I wouldn't have come... Opinion did not change... Waitress was a nice lady but place was busy... i assume staff shortage or something. Several servicing of the marinated beef... all of them very fatty and tough to eat... probably ate half of what was ordered... other half was edible but not pleasing to eat so we spit out most of it. The place was not well ventilated so the smoke was hurt our parties eyes. Also several other groups were complaining about the service overall. It would have been better off if we could cook our own meats... Came here with a group of friends. The restaurant is pretty big with lots of tables. It wasnt that busy when we went but if all the tables were filled i wonder how smokey the place would get. How have I not been here before?! I'd give this place more stars if I could. The aroma of the grills and the huge dining room area with its mini compartment type seating, allows for more privacy in a large space. So that means each table is separated by a high partition allowing you your own dining space and not being on top of one another. To the right as I walk in, glassware and cute plushies that act as decoration, welcomes you along with a greeter. Premium meats hang on display and the super nice staff brings you to your seat. The menu boasts group platters and shareable premium cuts. This visit I was here for lunch but my foodie buddy suggested skipping the lunch specials and going full on orders of meat. She's the best! We ordered the rib eye and pork belly. Also ordered the Jap Chae and scallion pajeon (pancakes) as our carb side. The ban chan just kept coming out, one after the other. No wonder she ordered this way. There was so much food and only two of us to eat it all. (Note: you can't wrap the ban chan to go, not allowed. So don't try). We ordered both meats non-marinated on purpose. We are purists, like it as is. You can dip it later into the awesome garlic oil and salt based soy later when you wrap your meat in the leafy greens. Fantastic service and excellent food. My favorite freebie was the steamed egg. So reminds me of home. Kimchi of course and the variety of spicy veggies on the table. Came back again after some time to satisfy our KBBQ cravings, & Chilsung once again delivered! Banchan is still plentiful & consistent, and we decided on the pork belly and marinated galbi this time around. I have to say - the dining experience here varies greatly with the server. While we were a bit put off last time by how the ribeye was butchered by our scissor wielding waitress, our waitress this time was incredibly attentive and had the perfect cook on both of our meats. The quality of both cuts were good, & this was the perfect amount of food for us. Also keep in mind - KBBQ comes with steamed egg & soybean paste stew. I'm still impressed by the ventilation within the restaurant, as we didn't reek of KBBQ after our meal. The restaurant was pretty full for a Friday evening; no comments on the ambience. It's exactly what you'd expect for a KBBQ restaurant. Overall, I'm glad to see that Chilsung is still doing well and that the quality of the food has been consistent over time! 4.5 stars Solid 4.5 stars for lunch and dinner. Came here two separate times for both and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was attentive, food was fresh, and abundant and the space is nice and clean. The lunch special was large but found the combos to be a bit expensive for the portion. I liked how they gave you a lot of side dishes even for lunch. Galbi was very tender and liked that it wasn't overly sweet. I could have used it a slightly thicker but wasn't too thin by any means. I was expecting more side dishes with the galbi but was content on what they provided. Overall, very solid and delicious. The prices here are generally higher than other restaurants. I can't believe I've never ate here and they've been opened for so long. We were on our way to get dumplings and the smell of kbbq just drew us in. We decided to dine in since it was pretty spacious and spaced out nicely. Dont judge but we're still on the cautious side of things and dont normally dine in, especially with the kids. There are plenty of sides - tofu, steamed eggs, kimchi, broccoli, salad, japchae just to name a few. We ordered 3 meats but we could've definitely done with 2. We ordered the angus short ribs, cut short ribs and pork belly. They're all so good! The ladies cooking for us were extremely nice and even cut up the meats for the kids. It was my father's birthday when we went to Chilsung Garden to celebrate. We are regulars here and the restaurant never fails to give us the BEST service. The staff always greets us upon entering and quickly seats us when possible. They ask if we would like any side dish refills (they already give so much!!) and sends us their special side dishes that were kimchi pancakes and marinated crabs today. The food is just ALWAYS so good and rich in flavor. We got the marinated Galbi that was seasoned amazing and grilled to perfection. The soybean paste soup had a nice kick to it that balanced the overall meal. The ambiance was lively even though it was pretty late because there were so many customers here ready to eat. It seems like this place is always popular whenever we go. The staff always wear these ear pieces and they have a button you can click on at each table to call over a server, so their service is top notch and fast. They also had a sweet treat at the end of our meal when paying, which is always either a small yogurt drink or sweet Korean traditional punch. Hwedupbap 4/5 Seulungtang 5/5 Bbq 5/5 The only thing I would change is one of the types of sashimi in the hwedupbap. The seasoning is to die for, the salmon and tuna were perfect. Except for whatever fish that was weirdly chewy. I picked it all out. But other than that, the whole salad and seasoning was perfect. It's definitely a better hwedupbap th an the ones in Jersey. This is a great group place to have kbbq, they have large tables to accommodate big parties! I also appreciate their vents above the grill, to mitigate the lingering smell from the cooked meats. They give a good portion of the bon chon with your meal and 2 soups! We got 3 orders of different meats to grill and their seafood pancakes. We were fully satisfied from it! We also got an order of their cold noodle dishes for a refreshing end to the meal! They grill and cook for you which is great cause sometimes I'm not so good in grilling my own meats. They are very busy and lots of running around but if you glad someone down, they'll remember to come back to you if they're helping someone else. We were recommended by a Facebook foodie group for their dry-aged beef and the discussion was all about their quality of meat and reasonable price under that post. The post & photos looked so appealing and we love Korean BBQ so we decided to give ChilSung Korean BBQ a try. The decor is well-designed with the concept of traditional pocha and wide-spaced with lots of seating. The staff was friendly to introduce their dye-aged meat line-up in the show case in details when we passed by. There was a great variety of options on their menu from BBQ, hot plates to stew and also combo set for people who have difficulty making decisions. We did a couple of single orders for 4 different kinds o beef, Seafood Tofu Stew and Seafood Pancake to share with a group of three. The portion was way too much since 10+ kinds of Banchan were served with orders and we ended up overeating & packing lots of leftover for the next day. Everything was delicious, especially the Dry Aged Ribeye, which was tender, juicy and perfectly-grilled. If you enter through the Horace harding side proceed to the rear of the parking lot entrance to be seated. Spacious dining hall offering barbecue and sushi. They offer great cuts of quality provisions. Premium cuts of Dry aged Angus beef and Berkshire pork is available. A huge dry aged fridge equipped with clear glass doors let's you view the mounds of beef dry aging inside. Plenty of banchans are brought to your table after you place your order. They also served us a bowl of steamed eggs and miso soup. We ordered the kot deungsim (ribeye), pork and duck. All the meats were grilled and cooked to perfection. The duck really stood out as it was not gamey tasting. The steak was tender and moist and it was cooked over coals with the addition of the gas stove giving a serious afterburner sear. We also had the seafood pancake which was on the oily side and soggy. They packed way too many scallions with the huge end pieces cooked in. The pancake was under seasoned. After the meal was over and the check arrived they served us Sujeonggwa, a cold tea made with ginger, cinnamon and persimmons and lightly sweetened. It was my first time trying it and it was ok and I may need more time to appreciate it's nuances. The service could have been a little more attentive since the place was not packed. Truly disappointing outing considering I come here often with my friend and family. Ordered 3 combos, couple of side dishes and 2 orders of pork jowl. The food is always delicious. Had to ask numerous times for additional green leaf lettuce and their sliced onion and scallions in dressing. Staff would bring 1 or 2 small servings at a time and seemed annoyed at such a request. Mind you we weren't asking for additional banchan dishes except for an 1 pickled radish and 2 pickled jalapeños. On another request for lettuce and sliced scallions, the waitress pointed at the empty scallion/onion bowl and said this is expensive. We just ordered over $700 worth of food and you can't graciously bring me scallions and onions that probably costs $1 at most (even in this recession with inflation). I just wanted to wrap my bbq'd meat in the green leaf lettuce with the scallions and onions, but you're just being stingy! I said just bring me the scallions and I'll pay for it. Sorry but not sorry. I'm glad you brought me my scallions and charged me $2 for each additional serving. I'm just going to take it from the 20% tip I normally put down. Incredibly disappointing. Pandemic outdoor dining SUCCESS! Made reservation in advance for Saturday dinner. We were seated in front of the restaurant-Table of 10! The back outdoor dining is also available if you want to park in the private lot. The other table of 8 was at least 6 feet away from ours. The staff grilled the BBQ meats right at the side of the restaurant and served it to us as the meats were ready! Amazing BBQ flavor and taste as always! All of the other foods were still on point! A friend suggested this place for dinner. It was a sold place for Korean BBQ. The place was large and nicely decorated. We ordered pork belly, prime rib, marinated beef, and short rib. The meat was fresh and there was plenty of ban chan to go along with the meat. The lettuce for the wrap was very fresh. We also got a couple of cold noodles. Typical Korean BBQ. Very basic decor and the food was good and tasted fresh. Service, on the other hand, was not up to par. First, one of the servers knocked over my daughter's soda. OK, accidents happen, but he did nothing to help clean up and didn't even bring over more napkins to wipe up the spill. Moreover, he never even bothered to bring my daughter another soda and when I asked another server to replace her soda that was knocked over, there was no response. In fact, throughout the whole time we were there, it was next to impossible to get any server's attention. They had two menus that looked amazing, with one being dominantly Korean dishes and the other Japanese varietals. The menu had set off a high expectation for this place, from food to service etc. The food was good. The banchans were average, none of the banchans were memorable or stood out from the basics. The beef tongue was outstanding, thinly sliced with the right amount of fat and cooked perfectly on the grill. The sesame oil and salt mixture was very off. This is such an easy mixture of salt, sesame oil and pepper and it was really not cutting it. I can't help but to think it's caused by the quality of ingredients. It was a upsetting that they overcooked our pork jowl, it was an unpleasant texture to eat. They cooked our meats on a separate table nearby and we couldn't keep tabs on the cooking. I trusted them with the cooking but they messed up on the pork. The kalbi was nicely marinated and much on the sweeter side. My significant other enjoyed it but I needed more savory notes. I really enjoy their smaller portions at a lower price point because most of the time, I like a variety of Korean Barbeque meats. Some spots charge a lot for big portions and that usually leads to a lot of leftovers. Service was spotty. There were various staff that stopped by the table, some were nice and efficient. Some couldn't bother with our simple request for water. Definitely not that attentive overall. Everything was tolerable until the end of the meal when one woman gave me no options but an attitude for a simple request for a takeout container for our leftovers. We made a reservation so were able to secure three tables and the restaurant was pretty empty besides another large party but the kitchen was oddly backed up and we were unable to get some of our side soups and food until after our entire meal was over! It was very odd to get the egg soufflé and the bean soup so late so we were sadly unable to eat them. To the good stuff! The sushi appetizer and seafood pancake appetizer were delicious!!
