I came here today with my family. There weren't many customers there when we got there, so the employees were very accommodating. For food, we ordered the seafood kimchi pancake. It was so crispy and delicious, had an amazing crunch. Secondly, we got the beef stirfry with egg and rice(my brother finished it.) Their purple rice is actually very unique as they added chickpeas to it. Additionally, we also got some seafood rice cake and pork belly hot plate with onions. This dish was quite possibly the worst because there weren't many pieces of meat. Anywho, the ambiance was warm and inviting. As for the price, I did find it a little too steep. Came here on a Wednesday night at 7pm. not packed at all. Sat straight down and ordered. they have a small parking lot but they back entrance is straight there. Overall a pleasant experience. We ordered the eel and short rib for bbq and the seafood pancake(L). note the eel is not the whole eel looks like half and they didnt even kill the eel in front of us. Overall came out fast. Wish they gave us lettuce with the short rib. Its was wrapped right next to table. and they gave us rice but at the end of the meal which i thought was strange but chances are they forgot. Price wise it was expensive for just two people and two meats. Its was close to 150 with tip and tax. We had to ask for tissues and tea as they really kept it tight with what we used. Bi won used to be a staple even for those who aren't Korean. Lately the service has been horrendous. I've been coming here for well over 10 years from when they first opened but the service to NON Koreans is straight up garbage, it's Queens. In addition to all the deliciously marinated BBQ meats, they are generous with their large selections of banchan. 2 types of Kimchi, fish cakes, marinated lotus roots, steamed eggs, congee, and tofu stew, a cold pork salad with an amazing sauce, and many more banchan I can't recall at this time cause there was so many. My favorites would be the kalbi table bbq, the shrimp & the eels and I also love the spicy marinated crab, the beef soup, the chicken soup the seafood pancake... all the sides there hasn't been one bad thing I've ordered here over the years. Been here a few time. Food was good per usual. But service was weird this time. Had a older lady serve us. Went there with 6 people she only gave us 2 sauces. I asked her can I get a few more sauce she looked at me weird so I asked her is it not one sauce per person? Because that's how they do it in the surrounding kbbq restaurants. I had gone here with my daughter and her friend (her friend was Korean, me and my daughter are Chinese) her friend ordered in Korean and made a simple grammar mistake in Korean and fixed it immediately. My family and I have come here often as we lived in Bayside for 10+ years now and we loved their variety of banchans and it's different each time we come. The food and service has been great too. However we went to eat there last week after coming back from the airport. When we were almost done eating, I saw a roach crawling on my son's side of the table. Luckily it didn't touch the food and the waitresses were horrified and killed it and informed us that they did some pesticide control recently and may be coming out. So already squeamish on that already - we wanted to hurry up and finish and got the check so we can leave until I felt something on my leg and I thought it was just all in my mind. I just shook my leg to shake off the thought and my son said he sees one on the floor by my foot. I jumped and leaped onto the booth. The waitresses, horrified even more and apologized profusely. But still charged us in full and offered nothing after seeing two roaches and unable to finish our meal. Ambience: Nice average KBBQ decor, with the vent hoods that drop down right over the grill to reduce the smoky stench on your clothes. Food: this is NOT and AYCE, which is great because the quality of the meats tend to be higher. We ordered a combination that included prime ribeye, brisket and marinated short ribs. To my delight, they use REAL CHARCOAL to cook the meat at your table, not propane! Meats were grilled to perfection. As is customary with most Korean BBQs, they give you a large complimentary assortment of cold appetizers. We are glad to see the health score is labeled an A because a place close by which we used to go to dropped to a C and we don't go there anymore. I won't recommend my friends to come here since the beef is too chewy. Also there are more reasons First, the menu doesn't make sense AND the staff is not smart. I told the staff I order D.14 and seems she doesn't understand English well. She needs to double check what D.14 is in Korean. I order the same dish 4 times and finally she ask someone else to help us. Is that so difficult to order one dish? And then I found out there are two dishes in same number D.14, that's why that person get so confused. Second, we ordered Beef Combo but the beef is soooo chewy, very hard to bite. Third, all the rest dishes are just ok, not surprising, some of them even taste bad, for example, the COLD NOODLE is chewy and raw, The spicy pork rice is too salty. We had lunch at BiWon with the wife, looking for some good Korean food. I was looking forward to this since I was on my usual morning intermittant fast! The restaurant has plenty of parking in the rear and metered along Springfield Blvd. The place has been there for over 20 years, but we weren't there for the ambiance, just the food. We ordered the seafood and scallion pancake for appetizer. The marinated beef ribs and the spicy marinated pork for entree's. Both dishes were served hot and mildly spicy. All were very good! Standard appetizers, which accompany good Korean restaurants were served and were all fresh (especially the two types of kimchi) and plentiful! Can't remember the last time that I cried 'Uncle' for the appetizers never stopped coming! Service was quick and attentive. The rice tea was hot and refreshing. We also ate marinated galbi which is also good I love the charcoal flame gives it extra fire flavor. We also ordered a whole beef platter which honestly was my favorite part. We live nearby and would usually walk there....the mgrwas always very warm and friendly....the food was excellent and the service good but not exceptional....then for some reason the service was terrible....the last few times there no effort was made to cook the galbi nor did they check on our table or refill our water glasses.... I began to wonder if our business was no longer sought...we were always polite and generous with our gratuities......I am Caucasion and my wife is a Filipina.... We decided to give Bi Won another shot with delivery, and it was a positive experience. Our dishes were spicy as promised by the description, and the dishes had ample amount of protein. The Jukkumi Samgyup Chulpan (pork and mini octopus) was hearty. It didn't need as many onions, but it was great with the egg and side rice. The Yookgejang soup was perfect for someone who is trying to get over being sick. I'd skip the mandu gui dumplings; they were over fried and not particularly interesting. After you order the servers bring a variety of ban chan which were all pretty good. We ordered the non-bbq stuff and the spicy pork on the sizzling stone platter was juicy and was not that spicy. I would recommend moving the egg off the platter when you get it and onto the rice unless you like eating egg crust and flakes. If you get the Kalbi tang they cut off the meat from the bones which is nice so you don't have to look like a barbarian getting the meat off yourself. The meat itself lacked flavor and was very chewy. They did not cut it that clean and there were small broken pieces of bone which were a little annoying but was whatever. When I walked in, I was wondering why this large restaurant was empty except for two tables, and their parking lot was so barren. After my meal, I realized that this restaurant cuts corners despite charging premium prices, and will not be returning here. Pros: 6+ banchan side dishes, which is impressive and included acorn jelly and lotus root. Unfortunately the seasoning on the kimchi was not tasty (without using expensive ingredients like jut, it tasted like peppery cabbage). Cons: I ordered mandoo duk kook soup, which includes dumplings that most Korean restaurants hand-make. (For example, if you go to Sansookapsan in Flushing, this soup (with house-made dumplings) are the real deal). Biwon used Bibigo Beef Mandu dumplings from Costco - unmistakeable because the dumplings are so sugary and a shock to the tastebuds compared to any other mandu soup by any other Korean restaurants in Queens. Five Costco dumplings accounted for 80% of an entree that costs $18.99 left a bad taste in my mouth for a number of reasons. read more

Definitely on the expensive side. The combo came with 3 different meats, steamed egg and soup. The food was delicious. Good quality meat, soft, juicy and flavorful. The soondubu was kind of disappointing. The seafood was low quality and tiny. For the price I expected more from them. You do get a lot of banchan and side dishes like Korean pancakes and a rice dish so the combo is more than enough for two. The service was awkward. They will cook the meat for you which is great but our server was standing over us and tossing the meat in front of us the entire time which was kind of awkward. It felt like she was between me and my partner and we couldn't really talk until all the meat was cooked. They also cooked the 3 meats consecutively. Wish they spaced it out a bit because we wanted to eat slowly but didn't want our food to get cold/overcooked. I think it would have been less awkward if our server engaged with us but she didn't introduce herself or even look at us. If you want a chill place for bbq with friends I don't know if this is the place to go. If you just want quality kbbq then this is the place for you.
