I was meeting with my close friend (the one who usually goes with me to eat out and try places) and he told me about this Thai restaurant by his place. Always down to try food, we drove to this restaurant. Parking was easy and spacious and seating was simple. We went in at opening, so we sat down right away. The table we sat on had their light a bit too high, but it was not too much of a bother. I already had in mind what I wanted to order, so we started with appetizers and a soup, prior to getting our entree. Tom Kha (Coconut Soup): I have had this before at other restaurants, so I wanted to compare it this place. Honestly, it was just alright. It had quite a bit of spice to it, since every soup spoonful had some peppers in it. The mushrooms and chicken were good, and the ginger and lemongrass had a nice herby flavor. But it didn't had the same sour taste I was expecting for this soup. It was a bit more sweeter than I would like. Appetizer combo: You get two of, Chicken Satay, Fried wonton, tofu, fried calamari, and spring roll. This was quite good and a nice starter. My favorite was the fried tofu with the sweet Thai chili for dipping. For the price, it is good to share between two people. Pad Gra Prow (Basil Chicken): Always my favorite at eating at any Thai place. I usually go for Basil "protein" or Eggplant "Protein". The Basil leaves added the flavor I expected from this dish and all the vegetables and chicken worked together. The only thing I was disappointed was the spice level. I wasn't asked (unless that cannot be changed) so it was rather mild in any spice level. If I could have made it spicier, I think the dish would have been perfect for me. Haven't had the best experiences with Thai food lately so I was hoping Won Thai would turn that around. They did not disappoint. They had Angel Wings as a special so I ordered that to go with Chicken Pad Kee Mao. The wings were crispy with a good amount of delicious stuffing. The Pad Kee Mao was the star though. So much flavor. It actually had the spice level I was looking for. Definitely recommend both dishes. Came here with a classmate last week for lunch on a Friday. Surprisingly, the lunch hour wasn't busy - we were the only ones in the quiet restaurant from 12-1PM. Since we were there chatting into the 2PM hour, we noticed it started to get way more busy from 1-2PM (an interesting observation for Friday on our end). I really enjoyed the homey ambience of the restaurant and that there was plenty of seating. In a way, it was kind of calming being in there. We both ordered the basics (pad thai -- I got shrimp). Underrated and overlooked esp with the Sues Kitchen and Thai Lao recently opened in Herc. But don't sleep on this place. It's definitely not fancy, but gives off more authentic vibes with the Thai tablecloths and buddhas on the wall. Reminds me of spots my Thai Aunt used to take me too. What was a turn-off was that dinner entrees do not come with rice, you'll have to pay extra for that which is like $2+. It can add up esp if you have a big group. One of the main reasons this place has a leg up over the rest is that they serve dessert AND have options! Their fried banana and ice cream is amazing! And they also have sticky rice and mango. Delicious Thai food in Hercules?! Yes! I met my aunt here for lunch today and we enjoyed every bite. Pad Thai with shrimp and crispy bites of tofu- I wish they were more generous with the shrimp!! I had about 5 pieces paired with a heap of noodles. The fried spring rolls were bomb- shredded cabbage and other veggies w/ a tangy sauce. So, so yummy!! Everything we ordered from the menu was a hit. I recc the namkao, shrimp spring roll app, eggplant chicken, drunken noodle and fried shrimp rolls. This is what we got our last visit and none of these dishes missed. For something as simple as shrimp spring rolls, there was so much flavor packed into it and the peanut sauce was so good. This little restaurant in the strip mall on the border of Rodeo and Hercules serves up some really great Thai food. I'm vegan and they can make most dishes vegan for me. I've been pretty spoiled with some delicious Thai spots when I lived in Oakland so I wasn't too impressed with the takeout I got from this place. Tofu spring rolls were mostly lettuce and weren't memorable in taste, pad thai and pad se ew were ok but they are probably better when freshly served- the noodles stuck together and were a bit bland, chicken eggplant basil was decent but didn't have much chicken. Granted, the food had sat for a bit but even after nuking it, it didn't improve that much. I would give it another shot but maybe I'll have to dine in to experience the real deal. read more

My friends and I (group of eight) decided to try out this Thai restaurant because our usual Thai restaurant didn't open for lunchtime on Saturdays. This is a really nice restaurant with reasonable prices and the portions are "just right" - not too much and not too little. The food is very tasty; there are a lot of vegetarian options available, as well as entrees including different meat choices. The atmosphere is peaceful, with soft music playing in the background and is nicely decorated. I have been here twice now (I brought my husband with me the second time) and both times the waitress was very attentive to our table, making sure we had sufficient water and asking if there was anything else we needed. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Thai food - or who wants to try it for the first time. :) read more

I suggested Thai food for lunch and Hubbers was a little elated with that idea since he's been wanting to try THIS place out. We walked in during a peak lunch hour and were delighted to find a few tables open. We were seated almost immediately. Since we both previously took the time to look at their menu online prior to coming through, we had a pretty good idea what to order. We also both knew we're gonna end up with a lot of leftovers but not an issue: leftovers are bomb! A side of soup was served to us almost immediately after placing our orders in. Above decent! A good tummy warmer! SEAFOOD FRIED RICE: This came out first which irked me just a bit. (I'll explain below.) But dang it, it was delicious. (For the record, my first choice was the crab fried rice which wasn't available for the day, so I settled for this.) The one thing that separates their version of this compared to others (and I'm not sure if I should complain about this or not) is that the amount of rice wasn't portioned to the seafood: there was more seafood than rice. I had a side of white rice that went with another dish, mixed it in with this and VOILA! It's like magic! This was pretty much a meal in itself. Highly recommending! APPETIZER COMBO: This arrived next which is why I was irked that the fried rice came out first. I just have this thing that appetizers should come out FIRST before anything. By the time I got to this, I had already had the fried rice. (I know, I know, I could have held out, but I was hAngry!) But every player on this plate was pretty much as expected and comparable/similar to most Thai restaurants. Decent at best. SOFT SHELL CRAB WITH GREEN CURRY: A first run for me. I've only had soft shell crab battered and fried as is, so trying it with green curry got me curious. Verdict: I liked it, more especially with the crispy fried basil leaves. Not sure I'd order it with the curry sauce again, though... PLA NUENG MA NOA: Steamed tilapia with spicy sauce on top. They weren't kidding about making it spicy, WHOA, that was a lotta chopped chili toppings! Hubbers liked it. So did I until it got a bit too spicy for me. If you're a spicy food fiend, this is definitely a must-try! PORK CHOP: Grilled tender and juicy! This is usually hit and miss at some places where it tends to get overcooked deeming it too tough to chew. But not here. Great marinade and seasoning. Me likey! FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 3.5. VALUE: 4. PARKING: Private lot shared with other eateries. Can be full during the lunch rush. There's also parking available on the side. OVERALL: 3.75. I remember loving the end when they would give flavored tootsie rolls out and one time the owner gave me a whole bag because I loved it so much. I will never forget that! Very authentic flavors and reasonable pricing. It's been a while since I've had a chance to eat here so picking up some food to-go last night brought me back down memory lane. Here are Pros and Cons on this Thai restaurant. Pros: 1. Nice little shop in Hercules, small shopping center. 2. Place looks clean, tables are set nicely. 3. Food is decently good. Cons: 1. The servicers or owners can be rude at times. 2. Asking got Hot sauce or paste is a challenge, they are very cheap in give you want you asked for, example you ask for 2 containers of hot chili sauce, they give you 1, even though you are spending close $100! You have asked again, then they play stupid "we gave you", and you have to show them no they didn't. It's headache just asking, cheap ass people. 3. The rice they use is weird, it's almost like soft plastic, I never order rice from this place, it's probably the cheap rice you can get. I come here only if I have too, usually I will go out of my way to get Thai food from another restaurant. The owners need to stop being cheap. read more

This place was really good. My girlfriend and I didn't wanna stray to far from our home for dinner and she luckily found this spot on yelp! It's nestled away right off the freeway and has. A nice homey feel to it. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We ordered pad Thai with chicken, yellow curry with chicken and rice. For an appetizer we ordered the Thai style potstickers which were so good!! The pad Thai had a great taste to it and the yellow curry was just right (we got the spice medium). The only gripe is I wish they gave ya just a bit more (we didn't have any leftovers, or maybe we were just super hungry?). Update. Five days later my stomach is still hurting. I'm starting to feel unsure if the meat was even duck or not. I thought it might have been to Greece. I have been to this place at least 5 times. Maybe once a month. 3 times I had the day off work so that was fine. But, Unfortunately on days that I work public transportation allows me to get to the restaurant at 8:20. They CLOSE at 8:30. Once I walked in and ordered soup with steamed rice two people came out and gave me dirty looks. ( a guy and an older lady) It also only took 10 minutes so I was out by the time they closed. This time and I mean the very last time I'll step into their establishment I was told at 8:20 they were closed by one of the 7 to 8 men sitting at a table drinking and the place reeked of alcohol. So please don't be fooled by the 8:30 closing on the website! This was just my experience but not helping people when they walk in is rude. Also if you are going to close early that's your choice I guess maybe lock the door. Or maybe say on your website after 8:00 we only take phone orders. It's 2:00pm and I'm starving, having just endured a brain beating courtesy of the national board exam. I hadn't eaten since 5am and had no more brain cells to spare. Thai food, particularly pad Thai, sounded quite delish. I was dropping off another fellow test-tester and decided to Yelp lunch spots in the area. This restaurant received 4 stars and seemed worth a shot. When I walked in, there wasn't a person in sight and then suddenly, a server popped out of nowhere. She was friendly and the food was made efficiently...then again, there were no other patrons so that should have been expected. Despite my level of hunger (creeping on hanger due to a headache), the food didn't blow me away. I prefer my noodles chewier (which I did request) and the sauce to be more on the sweet target than tangy side. I probably should have taken the lack of pad Thai photos as a sign that it wasn't one of their more popular dishes, but pad Thai is not only one of my comfort foods, I also use it to gauge the restaurant's authenticity. The price was reasonable, running under $9. If I find myself in Hercules, I may stop in and try a different dish, but this isn't a place I'd go out of my way for. read more
