While one may assume a noodle house is a house that serves noodles, there's the random possibility that it could be a house made of noodles. Now that would be something to see, but I didn't make the effort since the outside photos show a pretty standard suburban strip mall in the hamlet of El Sobrante. In the absence of any noodle architecture, I had the food delivered. I was drawn to their signature item, the $15.45 Thai Coconut Noodle Soup, which sounded like something Mary Ann would've made for the castaways on "Gilligan's Island". It was quite a thick coconut milk broth infused with ginger, galangal, and lemongrass and filled with fried tofu cubes, snow peas, broccoli, cabbage, and thin rice noodles (photo: https://bit.ly/3UM7SpR). Pretty hearty and flavorful. So much so that it overshadowed the lackluster $17.45 Grilled Short Ribs, which consisted of a couple of chewy slices of bone-in meat on a bed of garlic noodles and bean sprouts with a few random vegetables (photo: https://bit.ly/3zYSUDt). I topped off the meal with the $8 Mango Bites which were mango slices saturated in caramel sauce and ladled over semi-melted vanilla ice cream (photo: https://bit.ly/3A2B56w). Not bad for a house not made of noodles. FOOD - 4 stars...huge and hearty portions, flavors are hit or miss though the coconut broth works AMBIANCE - n/a...I don't know but a house made of noodles may be involved SERVICE - 3.5 stars...well packed even if the ice cream didn't survive the car trip TOTAL - 4 stars...Thai me up, will ya? My coworker brought me here on our way into Oakland delicious!!!! I had the chicken pad Thai and they shared a bit of their plates. Everything delicious. Yum thank you.

Mango Beef Noodles sub egg noodles instead of spinach noodles

Wanted to like this place after hearing one of my girlfriends raving about it. Not to mention it's down the street from my house. I wanted to like this soooo bad but it was just meh. The spring rolls lacked flavor and they didn't use traditional peanut sauce. They give you almost like a hoisin sauce which was super salty and counters tje freshness of the rolls. I got the mango beef because I love mango and it seemed to be quite popular here. I subbed the default spinach noodles for egg noodles. It was just alright... lacked flavor and it didn't feel like a cohesive dish. Like things just felt very disconnected and the flavors didn't quite compliment each other. In fairness, this was a doordash order so maybe I'll try again and go in person but if its anything like the food I got I'd say meh.

This is only half of the beef garlic noodles.

I was skeptical based on Yelp reviews but a was pleasantly surprised. The place was clean and staff friendly and prompt to serve. I love the fruit punch- it's more slushy like which I really enjoyed. Portions are generous definitely best to share. The beef garlic noodles and fried vegetable spring rolls were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I will definitely return to this spot.

    Hot-Sour Shrimp Noodle Soup

I ordered delivery only to receive the worst possible food and experience. I found maggots in the hot and sour soup and then hair in my coconut noodle soup. It was literally the most horrible experience and disgusting. I used to go here all the time, but after this experience never again.

    Papaya salad with soy sauce??
    Juana S.

I was nearby and thought I would try a new place. Came in on a Friday evening and still on the fence base on some reviews. Side note; if you have less then 10 reviews and 0 friends I won't take your review to account. Anyhow, restaurant is big lots of space and a bar area so you can watch as they prepare your food. I ordered a papaya salad and although crunchy they added soy sauce. Maybe this is a different tradition of Thai that I'm not aware of? We couldn't eat it. It did include rims of fruit in it, that was nice. Unfortunately, they did not pass the taste factor. I do want to note that a whole family was there for soup, maybe that's the way to go. Pros: Friendly Latin staff Cons; Soy sauce in papaya salad Once 23 dicinueve

Papaya salad with spring mix. Papaya on top and mix spring in the bottom. Not suggesting to order this.
    Thao H.

I rate Mango Beef Noodle 0/5, very bad. The mango beef noodle has a very artificial blue/green color; it tastes very artificial too though the restaurant people said spinach noodle; no spinach has blue color like that. The beef was dry and chewy. The papaya salad is 1/5. If the owner want to save cost, please use cabbage or iceberg lecture instead of mix spring. The arugula aroma and bitterness is overwhelming. The chicken wings is 3/5. The sauce and seasoning are good, but the sauce was flooded; so much sauce. The chicken wings is fine by itself, no need ranch (they gave me ranch). It's my first time trying and support local restaurant, but it's so disappointed. :(

Beef noodle soup with extra cilantro
    Bri D.

I was not expecting to love this place. The restaurant is tucked in the corner of a tiny strip mall. They serve so many types of noodles that I wasn't sure if ordering pho would be a safe bet. My partner and I saw a lot of thai style noodles coming out that smelled amazing. I go to a lot of pho places in the East Bay Area. I'm a bit picky when it comes to finding good pho. I was having a bit of the sniffles that day and needed the magical pho to help open my sinuses. So I preferred the "beef noodles soup" hoping for the best. The server was very kind, wonderful, and extremely helpful. When I saw her bringing over a giant bowl of pho, I got excited. It was $8.95 for what I'd call a large bowl of pho compared to my usual local spots. The broth was clean, full of rich and deep flavor, and all of the spices were well incorporated. The noodle to broth ratio was on point! I like a lot of cilantro and asked for extra, they did not skimp me and gave me a decent bowl of it. The only thing I think that could be improved about the pho is the type of beef they are using. Pho usually has thin slices of steak and it cooks in the hot broth. The beef that was used here is definitely thicker and cooked in a pan before. It's a bit tougher and was already cooked when it came to me. The meat was still good but not as excellent as it could be. Overall, the portions, prices, flavor, and service was absolutely worth it! I'll be back to try some curry and Thai dishes as well!

The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are very affordable. However, the environment is just average, with sticky tables. I visited in the afternoon, and there was no air conditioning.

    Lunch specials on Saturday too!

I even asked before hand if the amount of food ordered was enough for everyone to taste and the waitress said, assuredly, yes! Again the food tasted great but the serving sizes were not close to expectations. One other critique is that we were charged, (see receipt), a "surcharge"! No one mentioned it to us beforehand and it should've been. When the check arrived, on the underside of the bill it said 20% surcharge for parties of 5 or more. That's not advanced communication. It was close to 30.00!!!!!!! Had we known that 2 of us would've sat separately. Do better and don't deceive. It cost you a much larger tip than you required us to pay. And left a bad taste in my mouth.

The name of this nondescript takeout operation is actually its address on Macdonald Avenue. Ironically, the most popular place to eat in this neighborhood is McDonald's. I barely found it because it looks like a vacant storefront with a For Lease sign. A red OPEN sign was the only giveaway. I happened to read that this place offers some excellent Korean-style dishes. I think the menu can be more accurately described as global. It's apparently a mother-and-son business with the kitchen run by a Korean-American chef named Daniel who doesn't share his last name. His mother works the front of the house, and people order beforehand and come in for pick up. There's a community table presumably set up for dining, but the space felt more like a dental waiting area. Through the order window, I could see Daniel way in the back beyond a passthrough. I used their QR code to review the menu and order on the spot. All the entrees appeared enticing including Grilled Short Rib and Fried Pitman Farms Chicken. I chose the $24.50 Market Grain Salad. It was beautifully presented even in a takeout box (Photo 9). There was a mix of arugula, iceberg, romaine, and Treviso radicchio at the base topped with visual jewels: Fuji apple, Sonia Rojas cara cara orange, blood orange, mandarin orange, muscat grapes, and avocado. Further toppings included spring onion., tarragon, sunflower seeds, English cucumber, heirloom carrots, and French breakfast radish. Farro, red quinoa, and French feta cheese added more layers of flavor and texture. Harissa grilled Pitman Farms chicken provided a succulent serving of protein, and a unique sesame soy lemon chili dressing finished off a masterful creation. It was an impeccable salad. The $11 Skin On Gaufrette Fries were cross-cut and impossibly tender with a tasty dipping sauce (Photo 6). A genuine winner! Unfortunately the food was just as bad and overpriced as the first time, I really don't understand how this place is so well reviewed. The lettuce wrap came in two steamed, wilted pieces of iceberg, while the brioche bun was untoasted, foamy-textured and soggy. Both medium burgers had the consistency of boiled meatballs. The bacon jam was decent, but the overall experience was wildly unappetizing. We also both got plain fries, which were somehow greasy and dry at the same time, and instantly turned stale as they cooled down.
