This establishment gets one star and thats for the name. Don't let it fool you and don't waste your time. The bartenders are super ignorant and the drinks are horrible. The bartenders talk down to you and snub you if you ask them a question. The espresso martini tasted so bad I literally had to spit it in my napkin. Maybe too much cheese in it. Who knows it was garbage. How can you mess up something so simple. The holiday shot blue balls was a glass full of sour mix and will instantly make your stomach turn. I think these bartenders should rethink their career, mixology is not for them. The holiday decorations were decent but the mood instantly dies from the drinks along with your spirit. If I could give negative stars I would! On 12/28, a group of us (about 10 to 12 people) went to the WonderBar on East 4th. The place was empty and now I know why. When we walked in, we were met with a rude, drunk and foul mouthed manager Robin. It started the minute we walked in when she proceeded to tell us in great detail how she was still drunk from the night before, made out with a 22-year-old, and then berated the other bartender working with her. Look, I'm not Mary Poppins, I was able to ignore all of that- we were a bunch of friends doing a Christmas bar hop. We wanted to have fun - and not have this person ruin our day. But it didn't stop there - that was just the warm up. She cranked the music to the point of being so loud that our friend with cochlear implants ears were ringing.  So, one of the members in our group (politely) asked her to turn down the music.  And that's when she really got nasty! She pointed at my friend and screamed at her "B***h!  Get the f**k out of this bar!"  We were all shocked and looked at her. Then she pointed at my friend and then at me and (repeatedly) yelled at us "that's right!  You and you!  Get the f**k out now!"  So we got our stuff together and as we were leaving, she continued to berate us and yell at us. Look, I'm not gonna lie, at this point I started to yell back - I'm Italian, what can I say. ‍ During this time the other bartender- who should have de-escalated the situation began to taunt us. It was pure chaos! I emailed the Wonder Bar to tell them about our experience. But they never responded. No surprise there. The manager was drunk, rude and threatening. The other staff was complicit- probably grateful that the focus was taken off of them. Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend as we're from Chicago so we explored 4th street which was beautiful and this cute bar stood out to us so we walked right in. It is nicely decorated with lights that call your attention. We ordered drinks - tequila mule + old fashioned which were both real good. My boyfriend ordered at the bar as i saved a table for us. Cute little spot! We stopped in for a drink before a comedy show and enjoyed ourselves. It's a fun vibe with hanging greenery complete with plastic flamingos. I ordered the glitter disco ball drink which was good and my husband had just a gin and tonic. They have fun games in the back such as ski ball and pong. I'd recommend for a drink or two! Honestly, I always thought wonder bar was a super cool decent place. I hadn't been in a few years, and we were so excited when we arrived, we came for a nightcap and it wasn't too crowded, we grabbed 4 seats by the bar. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience, after enjoying a night with friends, we requested water from the bartender, he passive-aggressively directed us to the water cooler, we grabbed a cup of water and came back to order a white claw, we ordered 4 white claws and we didn't say anything but sat down, the bartender took our order and said "are you going to be a tough guy?" to a guy in our group. Confused, we said, "not at all", within a minute, he walked over, cracked open our white claws and poured them out in front of us and directed us to leave. I am sure this was a miscommunication! He assumed we were being hostile and instructed us to leave the restaurant, I stepped aside and addressed the owner and attempted to mitigate the situation, she did not offer any condolences and said her bartender asked us to leave so we need to leave. Other people at the bar were alarmed and confused, and we left feeling defeated and disappointed. My family and I came here while staying in Cleveland for the night after a Guardians game, and despite a fairly pleasant experience here, it just wasn't for me. The drinks were fairly cheap, which was good - the service was extremely slow despite not being that busy, as it took us 20 minutes to finally get a drink while at the bar. Wow. Went there after tree lighting. Very hard to get a drink. It seemed like the staff was fighting. After I finally got a drink I watched the staff do rounds of shots. The older blond lady seemed to be drunk and yelling at people. We stayed because it was so cold -and we were watching the chaos behind the bar. By far my favorite bar in Cleveland! Everyone was very friendly. Great customer service. Ashley was our bartender. We ended up going twice in the same night and she was there both times. Drinks were delicious. The environment was fun and upbeat. They have this fun "beer" pong game in the back, of course no frills is provided with it, lol, it only cost $1 a game. I just ordered a tequila sunrise (fairly normal mixed drink order- 3 ingredients) here and the bartender (older woman with blonde hair) accosted me for it asking "Are you 90 years old? Went back to our table when the waiter came Over to take our drink order and he was not polite at all. One of the ladies in our company asked if they had any spiked seltzer's , he said no...then she said i see white claw over there and he said, oh yeah, we have that. We all work in the service industry in Nashville. We came here to get away for a bit and he looked at us like we were stupid. Asked a couple questions, he had comments under his mask, went to the bar then looked at us and us we can't serve you. We left them to be respectful. When we walked in (at 10:00 pm) the bartender started screaming obscenities at us saying she didn't have time to be dealing with more people. Confused, we still went in and waited to order drinks. The bartender proceeded to yell at two people who wanted to cash out after one beer ("this isn't even worth my time, what the hell are you doing here if you just want one beer"). Wonder Bar is one of the few gems on Cleveland. To start, the interior is eclectic and colorful. I can't tell you how tiring it is to walk in to a bar and hear the same old tired songs you've heard a million times. This bar fortunately is an oasis of individuality and offers a contemporary atmosphere with songs you can *actually* dance to. Let's just say the vibes are immaculate. The owner Robin along with one of the bartenders Mike, are specifically the heart of the locale in my eyes. From the very first time I stepped foot into Wonder Bar (a clever play on words especially if you're German) I've felt welcomed, entertained, and at home. I have brought friends here specifically to show them why I LOVE Cleveland-- because of hidden gems such as this. It is truly one of its kind-- even walking past the bar you can tell this is *the* hotspot on the entire East 4th strip. I really can't gush enough about this place because it has defined Cleveland as a destination. It's my personal dependable go-to on my nights out downtown. Why? It's simply always a good time. Was in Cleveland over the weekend for the NCAA Wrestling Tournament and stopped here to meet some friends after the evening session. We were lined up at the door to get in so I thought this might be a pretty good place. Took about fifteen minutes to get in and it took twenty minutes to get a drink at the bar. The positive is they have a very large selection of beers on tap and by the bottle as well as an extensive collection of liquors and mixers. I thought the prices are on the high side though that is common place for a lot of downtown locations that count on the sporting and special events to meet their margins. I realize they were busy, but the waits weren't worth it and I really wonder why I came to the Wonder Bar. The friends I were meeting were from Iowa so I won't be meeting them here again anytime soon. RUDE & RACIST. Overheard the bartender say to the regulars beside me at the bar. (Referring to the juke box) "I don't know why people like playing that Bro music (as she called it)". Saying this all the while turning up some country music. Which I'm not sure where her statement even came from. Given that I had been there for a good 45 minutes and not one person had even been playing any music. The box had just been randomly playing music on it's own. So shortly later I played some music. I stopped in here with my group for NYE and I was pleasantly surprised. It just looks like a typical dive bar, but I was impressed with the beer and drink selection available. I had a beer on tap and it was poured perfectly and at the right temperature. The bartenders were all very friendly and served us quickly. The crowd in here was also mellow, the kind of vibe I like. They have several arcade games in the back such as skee ball, basketball, and video games.
