This place is all about the food for me.Ultimately, the good food keeps people coming back. We only go for dim sum and it's usually super crowded so wake up early and come get your dim sum groove on. Otherwise, if you have a choice of being seated at a table with other strangers or waiting a ridiculously long time for a single table to open up. This place is not for the shy so shout and point to get people's attention or else, you will be leaving hungry, which is a crime when the dim sum is so good. Try: fried taro dumplings, turnip cake, radish and beef tripe stew, chestnut cake. My advice: eye the kitchen door and grab whatever they have coming out for the freshest stuff. read more

After reading ok reviews on this restaurant, I decided to try this restaurant in my very first outing for dim sum in the NJ area. This place is not hard to find, it's right on State Rt 27 which is one of the main arteries that goes North and South of Central Jersey. We arrived at around 1:25pm (dim sum starts at around 11am). Parking was a bit full but I managed to find a space (can fit around 25 to 30 cars). The place was pretty packed. I had thought the restaurant would be a lot bigger it's about 2500 sq ft. Like most authentic Chinese restaurants, there were fish tanks with fresh fish and lobsters so I know it wasn't your typical Americanized Chinese food. We took a number and waited. I think it was the owner (man in shirt/tie) who asked if we like to share tables which is a custom if you don't like to wait and since I had the kids and they were hungry I complied. Meh, it's just dim sum not fancy dinner with DW. There was I think 3 dim sum carts and then there were about 2-3 staff that would come out with a tray and trying to sell you the tray goods. I guess if they had more carts, it would be hard to move around since the place is so small. The dim sum had your typical har gow, cheung fun, beef balls, etc. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. What I didn't like was that some of the food was just lukewarm to almost cold (deduct star). The hot water in the tea was not as hot as I like it so the tea leaves just keeps floating about and doesn't seep thoroughly enough for the flavors to come out (half star). We ordered a beef chow mein which was the highlight for me. Crispy noodles cooked just right, beef was plentiful and was not soaked in corn starch prior to cooking like some other restaurants do. Sauce was not too thick or watery. I suspect that dinnertime is where they shine since the noodle dish was made by the chef and not the dim sum chef. We spoke with the 2 people who sat next to us and the older lady (mom) said she's been here for many years and this is like an institution. I agreed as the waiters and people spoke Toisanese (which I was told are the first gen Chinese immigrants that came from China in the 60's). We asked for the bill, and asked if they charge for tea and they said yes but then the manager was nice to cancel the tea charge for us (0.50 each x 5) which I gave back in tips anyways. Overall, I don't expect Hong Kong or Toronto quality dim sum but it was ok to get my dim sum craving. Next time I will politely ask if the dish is hot before I order it. Very good dimsum and family style dinners here. During lunch they have a discount. Just make sure to pay with cash. It's much better.

This place serves very authentic Cantonese food. Great place for lunch during the weekdays. They have cheap lunch specials and if you pay cash, they won't charge you tax. Some dishes are better and cheaper than in Chinatown, like the sauteed squid and peppers I had for $6.50. During the weekends where they serve dim sum during lunch, it gets packed and most likely you'll have to share a table. If you're used to dim sum in Chinatown, that won't be a problem for you. If it is, well, get over it or just wait longer. read more

For us we can drive east for 30 min and be in NY or 30 min to Edision to Wonder Seafood. The dim sum is not as good as Flushing but on par with NY. Kind of a pain that you pretty much have to be there at 11 or you'll have to wait for a table. The selection is ok. I prefer dinner. Their saute pea shoots with garlic is great. Fried or steamed grey sole, seafood and tofu caserole, salt and pepper pork chops, fried chicken, beef with panfried noodles are our favorites. read more

These reviews had me thinking this place would rock but it didn't. The waiters suck. We went for dimsum and the waiters would just linger, get distracted and then leave. Stood there for 15 min waiting to order while cashier was on the phone and then told me they can't process my order b/c it was shy of 15 dollars and i couldnt pay credit unless i had cash, which i didnt. We were in Edison, NJ for a local community performance that my MIL was involved in so we decided to hit up this joint for some good old fashion dim sum for lunch. Overall, dim sum is not bad. They have the traditional staples as well as some that catered to "lo fan". The place is pretty small compare to other dim sum restaurants in New York so expect a bit of a wait especially if you come here on weekends. It was just me and husband so we ended up sharing a round table with another party, which we didn't mind. We were kind of starving so we were up for any seating arrangements. As soon as we got seated, the dim sum carts and trays came immediately and grabbed our attention. We got chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, shrimp rice rolls, sticky rice, chive dumplings, baked roast pork buns, spare ribs, and mini egg tarts. Of all, my favorite were their chicken feet. It was juicy and well marinated with the black bean sauce. The others were just ok. Service is pretty standard. The cart ladies were polite and not screaming over your shoulder unlike some other places. read more

We've known this place for so long but service was really awful! I asked for a check & gave my card & they charged it. I was computing the tip & browsing the receipt & SAW A UNNECESSARY CHARGES. Went there for dim sum today with the family today and we had a very good experience. We got there about 12:30 and there was about a 15 minute wait for a table. Once seated, the dim sum carts came around pretty regularly. They provide all your basic fare that I come to expect for dim sum and all of it was prepared well. Portions seem a bit on the small side but everything was tasty. There were no unique or special items on the menu though. Service was decent for a Chinese restaurant. Water glasses were filled regularly and dishes cleared regularly. All in all I would go back again for the dim sum. read more

They have a yummy selection that comes out quickly. I've never ate dim sum here, I'm really not so into it. I do however love this place to eat for Chinese food. My favorite is the salted pork chops which are boneless pork chops with a light deep fried crust and obviously a lot of salt. Also just for basic stuff like chicken and broccoli are so good. It was very busy and crowded on a Sunday afternoon. The wait was half an hourish and when we got our table we was sharing it with another group. Service is pretty much like any dim sum place BUT when you are almost done eating it feels like they want to clear the table so try keep eyeing you. The group that we shared the table with us finished before us so the waitress cleared half the table, rolled up the table cloth to the middle and replace the other half of the table with new cloth and set the table up for another group while we were still eating. I don't know if this is normal or not in new jersey but that is not a common occurrence in Seattle. I felt really rush during our experience. Overall, the food is pretty good. read more

Very good place, good food and good prices. We ordered the pork dumplings as an appetizer and they we're really good. Then, as our entree we ordered the Seafood Lo Mein amd the Filet with Black Pepper Sauce. The Lo Mein was amazing, would definitely order it again.. The Filet was good, but I think I will stick with the beef with scallions or veef in Oyster sauce. Nonetheless, great place and food. Definitely recommend. read more

I hadn't been here in years before tonight. The food and service were great. My picky kids loved their lo mein, rice and even the tofu. They don't eat tofu lol. They didn't have my husband's duck in stock, so the waiter came back and made some recommendations. We went on his recommendation and the "Grouper, home style" was excellent. Only reason why a 4 out of 5 score is because I was trying to excuse the terrible table that was off balance that was given to us, but giving the fair review because of the very wobbly table that my husband used a plate to even out the wobbliness. Favorite place in the Edison area. It does get extremely crowded and wait times could go up to as much as 20 minutes. I'd make the half hour drive here if I don't go into the city. This is real authentic Cantonese Chinese food. I love this place. If you want to try something new and experience some Chinese culture, go Saturday or Sunday between 10 and 3 for dim sum. There were 14 of us and we made reservations 2 months since we knew it was going to be busy, Our reservations were at 7:30 PM. We gave the order to our waiter at 7:40. We did not get our food till 9 PM. We ordered 11 dishes. People that came after us got their food. The food ordered wasn't extravagant; it was the basic authentic dishes. We told the waiter a few times, "why so long and where's the food?". He kept on stroking us and any minute, any minute! Want more peanuts and tea? We started to get more agitated as it was close to 8:50 PM. We went after the waiter and he was puzzled as well. He went back to the kitchen and started yelling as well. The waiter, he should have done this way earlier. He only did this as my daughter started to get up and leave and we started to get loud. It shouldn't take this type of action to get them to be concerned. We asked for the manager and the waiter said, I am taking care of it as he has no power! What a laugh! The manager never came and apologize to all of us. At 8:55 PM, they got nervous and gave us a fish that came out. It was just to calm down the situation as we believe it was someone else's order. You never give a fish as the first dish. All the dishes came out by 9:30 PM. It was unbelievable! The kitchen really screwed up here and the waiters did not take any action earlier to resolve the issue. It was not our first time there but it is our last time. We asked for a discount, the manager gave us only 10% but our daughter fought for another 10% - that made it 20% of the ticket. In my opinion, the discount should have been 50%+ off or free. It was a horrible experience and it really ruined the 2017 New Year's eve dinner. Yes, their food is good but it is not worth an experience. read more

Went here for the first time and cannot wait to back. I recommend trying something authentic. I was unsure what to get so the owner recommended dishes and I was beyond happy.
