Overall, very good food. The salad choices were great and very well-made... I had the melon with feta cheese and it tasted very healthy. I had the 14 ounce ribeye. It was cooked properly and good flavor would've preferred a little bit thicker but it was done just right. Steak was a bit overcooked which was okay because it did have good flavor, but it was a tough steak for being a Ribeye. The Mac n Cheese was pretty disappointing as well, lacked any real flavor, tasted more like just cooked macaroni. Might give it a try again sometime, but definitely not getting a steak there again. read more

RUN!!! Worst. Service. EVER. Went there early on a Sunday night, about 5:15. One other table seated. I'm not going to complain about the drinks coming out so slow, or how I had to raise my hand to get our server's attention in an empty restaurant to place our wine order before our dinner came. I will say that everyone I've talked to that has eaten there has mentioned that they are always "out" of one of the two economical cuts, and that they always upsell to the Wagyu, which I fell for. I will express my disbelief and horror when the server brought out my steak and (lukewarm) mashed potatoes, and only bringing my friends (lukewarm) mashed potatoes. My friends steak had been given to another customer. In a restaurant with one other table seated. She brought my steak out so it "wouldn't get cold." As if I were going to eat my meal before my friends food got there. Since when is that a thing? Eight (!) minutes later she came back with his steak. I had ordered mine rare. He had ordered medium. Have you guessed the temperature of the steak she brought my friend? That's right. Rare. We choked through our cold food. He finished first. The server approached him and asked if we wanted dessert. I told her I wasn't near being done. She proceeded to list the desert items to my friend, ignoring me completely. When she dropped off the bill, (which I was paying) I asked to speak to her and the cook (can't call him a chef) for a word. No apologies, though the cook did ask how he could make it up to us. I had been so upset, that I had not finished the cocktail I'd ordered. I went to the bar to get a to go cup. The baby bartender asked me for $1. I told her to get it from the cook. She made a huge stink saying "That's not how it works!" I bartended in New Orleans for nearly 20 years. Do tell, little one. How DOES it work? My guest and I had one cocktail, one glass of wine, and an entree each. The bill was $139.00. They had gotten every aspect of our order and experience COMPLETELY WRONG. And they still made me pay $1 to take my unfinished drink with me. Clearly, the staff had no restaurant experience, let alone "fine dining". This kind of incompetence starts from the ground up. They new owners didn't even bother to update the interior. Please don't give these incompetent, surly a$$holes your money. PS: Everyone I spoke to that had eaten there before claimed cold mashed potatoes as well. Guess that's a thing. read more

I don't know what they did to the of the building, but it looks very undone. It looked better when it was the 18th amendment, but I have to say my service was very good atmosphere was good. The very best pizza I ever had. They have wood fired pizza oven and the sauce is incredibly delicious. Charged me 40 dollars for a well done steak when I asked for a medium rare, on top of that the sever was extremely rude and turns out the reason it tasted like stinky cheese is because it's a bad steak and now I have food sickness if you want a good 30-40 dollar steak I highly suggest hops out in holland by far a better establishment read more

Dined in a month ago. First of all, the pics they post look nothing like the dish presented. Couldn't time service of a steak with a fish entree. Fish came out 15 minutes after steak served. Mashed potatoes warm on top, cold on bottom---microwaved. Alas, the fish was undercooked and sent back, and just asked to be taken off. The ambiance is nice. The server was pleasant, but service almost nonexistent with maybe 5 other tables occupied We will give it another try in the fall, but my gut tells me this place doesn't last through 26. Disappointing! We went on a Monday around 5:30pm, not a busy time to go. There were maybe 5 other tables with guests already seated. We ordered a water and a martini which took about 20 minutes to arrive. It was a well made lemon martini. We ordered the tomahawk medium-rare to share, garlic mashed potatos and the lobster gnocchi as our sides. The waitress needed to be asked for an additional plate (as she was told we were sharing the 32 oz tomahawk). Our steak arrived over cooked at medium amd rather dried out (to which she never came back to check to see of it was to our liking). The garlic mashed potatos were very good but did not come with a serving spoon to share. The lobster gnocchi was VERY heavy with a flavorless sauce and few pieces of lobster, nor was there a serving spoon to share this side either. The server was not busy at other tables, but came to our table only three times; to take our order, deliver our drinks and then to deliver our check. For $170 before the tip, we expected a better quality steak and much better service. We will continue to go to East Grand Rapids to Bowdies for a great steakhouse experience! read more

Drove from Grand Rapids to check this place out. All in our party were VERY disappointed. The $20 steak was obviously the cheapest steak so kind of tough and it was SUPER salty. The $25 steak was a bit better. The mashed potatoes- which you got a large serving of - were cold on the outside but got warmer in the center. The salad was good - service just mediocre. We mentioned it was our first time there and kept asking questions about the steaks but the server didn't offer any recommendations or advice. The vibe of the restaurant was good but was not busy. food was great service was atmosphere was fun. we had the meat lovers pizza and ribeye. Flavor was on point. will definitely be back. The drinks were also good, I ordered the whiskey sour and smoked old fashion. Also ordered a triple berry tiramisu, which I've never had. The fruit based tiramisu surprised me. we really enjoyed it, I'd probably get the chocolate torte next time. Only bc I'm a classic chocolate dessert kinda girl though.
