I was planning on painting the exterior of the house so it made sense to replace the gutters as some of were starting to leak and rust at the seams anyways. The price was fair and they were able to accommodate my schedule as the old gutter needed to be removed prior to painting and the new gutters had to go up after painting was completed. Both jobs (removal and installation) took a day each and both times they were able to come earlier than scheduled due to another job being cancelled. The work itself is good also, no complaints. They seem to be a larger company and have a dedicated person that answers calls / emails so communication was always prompt. Another nice thing is that they have online contracts and invoicing so you are able to pay electronically via your bank account, very convenient! read more

Wonderlin Roofing has been incredible throughout the process. Not only were they responsive to my emails and calls, but were super understanding when it came to my not-so-flexible scheduling needs. When the weather threw a wrench in the schedule, they not only were super apologetic, but explained in detail what could be done and when. Secondly, the project was done in little time. They have a crew that is obviously proficient and expedient, and finished this roof with little fuss. They cleaned up everything and anything related to the roof demo, and not a trace was left around the property. Not to mention the roof and gutters look fantastic - the company even got kudos from the painter who came and gave an estimate, and another from the county inspector. Our home in Castro Valley is located atop the East Bay ridge line and is thus exposed often to high-winds making roof integrity a challenge. To make things even more challenging our roof has 28 Velux skylights and a complicated roofline with 3 different levels. We initially looked for roofers through Angie's List. We got quotes from 3 roofers, but when we started asking questions about how they would replace the skylights, how best to deal with our occasional high winds, and for references, they stopped communicating with us. At this point we contacted Wonderlin. Their office manager Marianne responded to my email enquiry within an hour or so and arranged for Grover to come by and look at our job to give us an estimate. Grover did a thorough examination of our roof and also discussed how he would replace the skylights and answered our questions about installing solar panels while we were redoing the roof. Grover recommended Synergy Power for the Solar aspects of the job. After getting quotes from Grover and everyone patiently answering all of our many questions we signed the contract to replace the shingles, skylights, and add solar panels. After the tear-off crew removed the shingles on Sunday, Ryan and his crew began work Monday (with Rain forecast for the end of the week, but they assured us that we would be weather tight in time). At the time I was not mobile enough to climb up on the roof, but Ryan gave me periodic updates with photos to describe what they were doing. In the process Ryan found some dry rot and termites! Which he expertly repaired. And all was finished before the rains came, just as promised. We had executed an extensive remodel on our home many years ago, so we have dealt with many, many contractors and subs and did much of the work ourselves,... I am not often overly impressed with the work that has been done for us, but Wonderlin Roofing has proved to be exceptional throughout, from the office management, to the initial job scoping, through to the execution phase. Grover, the owner of the Company, came out personally five days later to inspect the roof. He was honest & conveyed that the roof had a few years of life left. We decided to re-roof anyway because we were installing solar and wanted to have a roof and solar system in place to last a generation. Two days after the site visit, we received a written estimate. After reviewing estimates from other companies, we chose Wonderlin because of its long history in the business with an unblemished record, its solid pricing (in the middle of the other quotes I received), and because everyone we interacted with was friendly and eager to answer our questions. We signed a contract at the end of April. Wonderlin received the city permit at the end of May, and the job was completed over the course of a few days towards the end of June. The tear-off happened on a Sunday, and the install was mostly completed the following Monday. A few flashings had to be custom fabricated, and permit inspections had to be coordinated, which took a few hours over the next day or two. I made an appointment for two weeks after my request as they were busy. (That is a good sign in my estimation, roofers that are busy mean they are sought after). They called me up a few days prior to our Tuesday appointment to confirm and change to a different date(hmm). Originally Scheduled for Tuesday at 1-3 to Thursday 1-3, then 3-5 as it was going to be a tight schedule for him as he was going to start his crew in the morning. On Wednesday Grover(the Owner) apparently left me a VM stating he could not come (I never received said message, conveniently). On Thursday I called at 3:45 to check his ETA and left a message, to his credit he returned my VM to let me know he was unavailable as he was on vacation up in Calistoga. Funny how his office thought he was doing work. I can't even begin to start with such a poorly run company, he wasn't even apologetic and acted like I had encroached on his time off. I am the one who took time off of work to meet with him and I lost that time, I will try another local company because I believe in small businesses. read more

I initially chose Wonderlin Roofing because they are a small but established local business with very good reviews. The owner Grover arrived on time for the inspection and delivered the bid on time. I liked the fact that he was the owner, low key and was not pushing questionable upgrades like some of the other companies. The price was good and fair and I went ahead and signed the contract. The tear off and installation was managed and worked by Ryan the Owner's son in law, went as scheduled and the roof looked good. About a week after the install it rained and I noticed a leak at my garage to interior door. Let me say that I do NOT have a cookie cutter roof and I understood that things can happen. Wonderlin's response to this leak is why I am giving them 5 stars. This crazy relatively minor leak defied discovery but Ryan and his team never gave up, always responded quickly and after exhaustive investigation found and fixed the problem. I believe this is a testament to their commitment to their customers and a demonstration of their honesty and trustworthiness. This review is long overdue. We had a roof leak and got a couple of bids for repairs. Grover came and got on the roof and took some photos and showed me the cracked tile and where the leak probably was. Made a very reasonable estimate and fixed it. We had Wonderlin roofing do a complete tear off of the original shake roof, sheet the entire roof with plywood and re-roof with comp shingles last summer. There was expected dryrot damage, skylights and other complications with the job that were all handled by the Wonderlin crew. The dry rot repairs were done at a very reasonable price and the entire job was completed professionally and quickly. Nine months later we put in a new pellet stove requiring a smaller sized flashing than the previous stove. I called Wonderlin and Grover came out within 2 days and installed the flashing as if it had been part of the original job. I got Wonderlins name on a referral from a friend in CV that was happy with the the work they had done on his home and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a quality roofing contractor. read more

We had our roof replaced by Wonderlin Roofing and the experience was better than we could have hoped. There were a lot of unforeseen issues (4 layers of shingles in some sections, no structural support for another section, no plywood, dry rot, etc) and in each case Grover and Ryan explained what they found and how it could be taken care of and cost. The quality of workmanship provided was exceptional as was the communication. In addition to the remediation they also installed two skylights in our master bath which are perfectly placed and symmetrical. We contracted a professional shed builder to build a barn shed the size of a single car garage. Within first three months shingles began sliding off roof. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be home while they were doing the work. However, my mom would tell me that they were doing a great job. I did notice that cleaned up real well every single day. Grover from Wonderlin showed up on time and was efficient. He gave me honest answers about our roof deck leak problem (even if I didn't want to hear the bad news!) and quotes to fix our skylight and do some re-sealing. The scheduling process was not as transparent as it should have been. After giving a deposit and signing contracts for repair - we had no idea when to expect the repairs to be done. Two weeks after sending the deposit, I contacted the company for an estimated time of repair - they explained the "wait list" process to me and ensured me I'd know by the following week when the repairs would be done. The next day Grover himself called and scheduled the repairs for two day after that (Wonderful!!) The team arrived early (luckily my husband was home to let them in) to do the job. They were done with the small job within an hour. The work looks sloppy, honestly, and the workers tromped some sort of cement/dirt all over my dark tarmac driveway - which will not wash off. They even spilled a bit of tar/sealant on my walk-up to the front door. But - nothing seems to be leaking anymore - so far the work seems sound (albeit sloppy). Great customer service! Recent winds blew the skylight in my garage right off the roof. Used Service Magic and a couple of contractors said it would only take 10 mins to put it back on, but they had minimum fees ($200+). Found Wonderlin through local coupon book and they told me they'd go look at it and call me with an estimate, since I was at work. I didn't hear from them, but when I got home, they had fixed it for me. Great service and quality work! I called for an inspection since my roof has aged, and I wanted to know if any repairs could be done to extend my roof's life. Thought I'd have to schedule a 2-3 hour window to be home for the inspection. That was not needed and all of our communication was taken care of via email and 1 phone call. I chose Wonderlin because the business is local, and he was the only roofing company that bothered to come to my house and explain the different types of roofing available. The job was involved. It included rebuilding 7 large skylights, around 3,000 square feet of flat roofing, removal of 3 existing tar roofs, and a complication of a clear roofed atrium in the middle of the roof. I was surprised to find out the actual removal and installation of the new roof was performed by a sub contractor, but they were supervised by Wonderlin as well as their own supervisor. The skylights, new type of material roof ( no more gravel), wood repairs and cleanup were very professionally done. There are a few drips of tar that escaped, hitting our deck, walkway, package heater , etc, but were slight and being felt with. Daily cleanup was performed, flashing looks great. I was in the process of getting my house painted when the contractor informed me that I had some dry rot on the plywood under my tile roof. I was telling my friend about my new headache and he told me to call Ryan. He told me that his roof was leaking last year so he called Wonderling roofing and said they gave him a good price and did an outstanding job. I called Ryan on Monday late afternoon and informed him of the situation and asked for a quote. I also informed Ryan that I needed to get these repairers completed ASAP because the painters are on stand by. Ryan came by the next day to inspect the damage. Ryan pointed out several more areas on the roof that had dry rot that the contractor didn't discover. Ryan said he was really busy but would get it completed ASAP. He quoted me a price much lower than I was expecting especially because I was asking him to start right away. Later that day Ryan and a crew showed up and started the repairs.
