I saw this place while driving and decided to give it a try. I got a hot and sour soup, combo plate and combo Singaporean noodles to go. I was highly disappointed in the food. The hot and soup soup was all liquid. Barely anything in there. There was no bamboo shoots, pork, lotus stem and mushrooms (typically in this soup. What it did have (tofu, earwood mushroom, egg and scallions) was only a few pieces. I got 3 pieces of earwood mushroom, few trends of egg (definitely not even an single egg worth) and some tofu. Worst hot and sour soup i've had. The combo plate came with 2 fried Wonton skin, a fried dumpling, fried rice and chicken. The Wonton skin and dumpling were crispy, but nothing to rave about. There was nothing in the fried rice, but seasoning and rice. Disappointing. The chicken was the best part out of the combo. It also didn't come with any veggies. The combo Singaporean noodles was the best out of the 3 dishes I got, but that's not saying much. The curry flavor was mild and the noodles were on the softer side. Overall, a mid dish. More like 3.5 stars. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch special with chow mein. I chose the egg flower soup, which was served first, it was tasty. The Mongolian Beef was a little above average, it was pretty tasty, and the chow mein was solid. it did contain some jalapeños, which i did not discover until I was almost finished. I could really taste the heat after i finished eating. Service was good, it was a one woman show. We found this place in the last year and have eaten here many times since. Every time everything has been very fresh & tasty. The meats in each dish have always been super tender & juicy. Here is my two cents on the quality quantity of Ming Palace. It was delivered by Grubhub in a timely manner, and it arrived very hot . I ordered two separate but equally delicious beef chow Fong . One was a grand Chow Fung in which there was chicken, shrimp, and pork . Plenty of chicken and pork and we counted seven good size shrimp . The second order was beef chow fung. And we found it to have plenty of slices beef.. Though the containers have shrunken in size, it was still quite full filing to sometimes have an extra meal the next day .. My friend and I were thrift store shopping and wasn't familiar with the restaurants nearby. The strip mall of stores with Noah's Ark thrift store were a bit tired and dated. We gambled on Ming Palace hoping it would have decent food. Stepping inside we were pleasantly surprised as the interior was very nice and comfortable. We were greeted quickly and seated. We had two servers, (one taking our order and one delivering our drinks) and asked which lunch special they preferred. One recommended the Mongolian beef and the other recommended the garlic shrimp. In short time two plates arrived. These were big dinner plates packed with food. Enough for two meals. Both the Mongolian and Garlic Shrimp were so delicious and full of flavor. My wife was ill and requested hot & sour soup. Went to the local Riley's and the guy behind the counter just looked at me -qui lo. Saw Ming Palace on Yelp and realized it was in the neighborhood. Kind of put off by the front. It the 'mall' has seen better days. Inside looks clean and well maintained, lighting is a little dim. Met by a polite, friendly woman/hostess. Do you have not an sour soup? Yes. CanI get it to go? Yes. Do you take a credit card? Yes. Five minutes later I'm out the door with my wife's soup hot & sour soup, in a tightly sealed plastic container, And it was hot. While I was waiting I glanced at a family who seemed to be enjoying their dinner. We appeared to be the only customers but it was early (3:30). The soup was a bit expensive, almost $12 dollars; but, everything is getting expensive. Considering they have a lease, employees, utilities, suppliers and insurance, I won't begrudge them a couple of bucks. My wife n I went into the restaurant and ordered two "large trays", we specifically asked to see the large tray n he only showed us the small tray and stated its double in size. My wife then asked if it was the same depth and he said yes. We picked up the order n the "large trays" were not as Deep as the small trays(see pic below of the rice n fried chicken). LYING POS. PSA I GOT FOOD POISONING THE NEXT MORNING FROM TGEIR GENERAL CHICKEN AND FRIED RICE. Number one: everything! Came in here today with my roommate and expected a well cooked and seasoned meal. However, that's now what we got, very very blain and unseasoned chicken and chow mein. The portion was extremely small, they are very stingy with their servings. I met up with a friend last night for dinner. He suggested this restaurant. Which strangely enough, I've never been! I pass it all the time, I shop the Grocery Outlet in this parking lot often. It wasn't busy for a Saturday night, which was nice. When we arrived, there were only 2 tables of customers. Left us plenty of options for seating. I ordered the walnut shrimp and vegetable fries rice. I should have done my research because the portions were huge! The fried rice was really good and the walnut shrimp was really good! It was sweet and satisfying to my sweet tooth. The shrimp were huge! My friend ordered the foil wrap chicken, which he loves and recommends highly to order from here. We both ordered a couple of margaritas. Which were pretty good, not watered down or super sweet. We could definitely taste the tequila. Ming Palace had some great food for the price, friendly service (the woman was sweet to the point of putting my food in the to go box for me!!), and even has a mini bar here! I ordered Ming Palace via Doordash tonight. One of the fastest prep and dasher pickup and delivery I have experienced. Iam not sure if it is because they weren't busy or just their speed. I ordered chicken in black bean $8.95, garlic chicken $8.95 and ma po tofu $7.95. Prices are reasonable. Portions were excellent. Very Americanized Chinese food. I did not get a gist of authentic Chinese in these dishes. The garlic chix and the ma po tofu seemed off from taste profiles I have good experience with. The chix black bean was the best of the 3 plates but not overtly memorable. It pains me to not be able to say it was good at all. My cohorts agreed with their own similar opinions. I do wish them the best but will quite likely not be ordering from them again. I must say however, if you don't care that much and have a simple food palette, you do get a good bang for the buck and will get you filled up to maximum level. read more

I love discovering hidden gems and Ming Palace is definitely one of them. On the outside, I could barely see the restaurant but the inside is decorated so cute! It was very secluded and peaceful inside the restaurant. While I ordered take out, the service was fast and efficient. I ordered the general Tso's chicken with pork fried rice, and crab wontons; my food was out within 10 minutes! I loved how flavorful the rice was and how the chicken was crispy AND sauced. Bad experience! I once ate here. After entering, they handed me a $20 bill and said " Sir, you gave us a fake money last time" at this point. Ming Palace is one of the two excellent Chinese restaurants in Sacramento. I'll preface my review with these notes: I've once received takeout from a friend from here. She LOVES the food and service. And today I picked up an order for take-out. I've only had won ton soup. And I've never dined in. But wow, they do won ton soup very well. They package the soup impeccably. They are sweet natured people. They have a cool selection of liquor for cocktails. And their prices for food are great. 32 oz. won ton soup for $7.31 otd. And the place seemed clean. I never judge food by the exterior of the restaurant - building nor neighborhood. Well, I have once. But it's rare.
