    Signature Won Ton Noodle Soup
    John J.

This is a very small restaurant in the Shoppers/McD plaza across from First Markham Place. Food (4/5) - menu has a good selection of noodle, non noodle wonton soups and Lo mein. Many different types available for sit down or takeout. Had the signature won ton noodle soup with shrimp, pork and roe. It was pretty good... mostly shrimp and a decent rice noodle and subtle broth. I added some chili oil for taste and literally burnt my tongue it was so hot! Guess I'm a banana since the guy on the next table poured a whole teaspoon on his lol. Service (4.75/5) - very good... walked in and they let me choose my booth and took my order within 2 minutes. My soup came out in literally 75 seconds it was so fast! Server was friendly and responsive too. Atmosphere (3.5/5) - not much to it... some tables and booths and pictures on the wall. Showing some age and might need a light reno. Overall (4.25/5) - will definitely come back to try out some other dishes... no chili oil this time!

Wonton noodle soup. Small but delicious!

This place still is a 5 star rating in my book. I came for the wonton and beef brisket egg noodle soup. The wontons were full (I mean full) of shrimp and wonderful tasting and the beef brisket was tender AF. I can't say enough of this place. It is awesome. And the price is right $16.05 including tax It is well worth it. The bowls are a little small but the quality of the meal trumps it by far. I will be back again And I recommend this place to all wonton lovers.

I found the broth on the saltier side and the shrimp wontons were smaller than other wonton spots I've been to. Beef brisket was tender and flavourful. The lemon tea was very sweet. Overall, a great spot to visit but shy of 5 stars.

After hearing good things about Wonton Hut, finally got to try! Lots of parking in the busy plaza. Debit or cash only. Casual dining at its best! You walk in and it feels like HK, with photos of celebrities lining the entrance wall. Service is fast and efficient. Small spot but tables turn quickly as staff work hard and fast to serve and flip tables. Food is GREAT. The classic wonton here has lots of shrimp and wood ear, giving them great texture and flavour. I also like the beef brisket. You can buy their housemade chili oil by the jar. Will definitely be back!

Classic local spot that serves fresh wonton noodle soup. Went for the classic shrimp wonton noodle soup, and it was super filling for the price!! Very good deal and fast service. The ambiance is pretty old school. Feels like there's a bunch of regulars. I went at a 11:30 weekday and it was a great time as it was right before the lunch rush

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Parking is plentiful in the private strip mall. Some staff inside the restaurant wore a mask and disposable gloves. Tables are closely placed together, just like in Hong Kong. Started off with the wonton noodle soup and it was decent. Portions were generous and the wontons were huge with flavorful and juicy shrimp. This may have been the highlight of the meal. Moved on to the dace fish ball noodle soup and it was lackluster. The fish balls didn't have too much fish and both the noodles and broth were on the bland side... Had an iced milk tea and it was creamy and not too sweet, a great way to end off the meal. ~$18 after tax and gratuity. Domestic cash or debit card accepted.

Another good place for a quick meal. This is a Cantonese noodle place, menu is simple, and services are quick. Entrance looks small and hidden from outside, but inside is bigger and deep. Shrimp wonton soup is delicious and fresh.

Shrimp, shrimp roe and pork wonton soup with egg noodles.

This is an unassuming little wonton place with a really small simple menu. I like how I wasn't struggling to pick something. I went with the shrimp wonton which is mostly made with shrimp but it does have some shrimp roe and pork. All I tasted was shrimp to be honest. You can choose between the white flat wide rice noodle or the thinner yellow egg noodle. My preference between the two changes. I am tempted to try the other wonton which is a traditional one with shrimp, pork, mushroom and bamboo shoots. I've never heard of that before but I was tempted but bamboo shoots is an acquired taste I think. Maybe next time. It was recently remodeled and the entrance has all these pictures of TVB celebrities stopping by so if you prefer celebrity endorsements instead of more down to earth Yelpers, you do you. TVB by the way is a Chinese media company that produces soap opera like series, much better than the soap operas we have stateside and more prestige I think but that itself warrants a seperate review to understand. Please note this place like others in the greater Toronto area only takes cash or a debit card.

The entrance is hanged with many photos with celebrities. 5/5 - Service was good and server was very polite. 4/5 - Noodle was fresh and texture was good, the wonton and dumplings were delicious. 3.5/5 - The fried fish skin was really crispy but too salty. 3/5 - Likewise the soup base was too salty with too much MSG. Overall between 3.5 and 4 stars. We won't mind to visit again.

Wonton cravings get satisfied here. Got takeout here today and it didn't disappoint. Wontons are huge with copious amounts of shrimp stuffed inside. Noodles are al dente and chewy just how I like them to be and the soup is light and clear with umami flavour. The chili oil they provide is a must, to bring everything together in harmony. Service is your typical order your food, eat and leave as the place is tiny, so a lot of patrons order them to go. Portions are just enough to keep you feeling good and not heavy or lazy later.

Beef brisket and cuttlefish ball rice noodle soup, side of vegetables with oyster sauce

If you want a quick and hearty meal, this is a good place to eat. It's a noodle shop, and only serves noodle soup. My favourite order is the beef brisket and cuttlefish ball rice noodle soup ($11.50). I like to order a side of vegetables with oyster sauce ($6) to eat with my meal too. If you like spice, definitely add their chili oil on top of your noodles. It's a small noodle shop with limited seating, but it's the type of restaurant to eat and go anyway, so you shouldn't be waiting long for a seat. They renovated their restaurant and added 2 new couch seatings since the last time I came here. Service is always fast too, and the dishes are cheap.

This is the perfect place to satisfy your wonton noodle cravings. Every time I come here, I just get the classic shrimp wonton noodles. The broth is a standard broth, but they provide all the condiments on the side for you to dress it up, which is honestly the best way to serve it. The noodle portions are quite generous, and you get 4 wontons. The wonton itself was massive and had lots of shrimps in it. The texture was amazing with a good bounce to it. The only thing is, I wish they would give 5 wontons instead of 4. With the portion of noodles in the bowl, it just felt disproportionate. Otherwise, it's a simple yet delicious dish. It was 12.50 per bowl, which is honestly a steal in this economy. I even saw the workers make the wonton and noodles fresh right in the middle of the restaurant. This is a must try, especially during the cold winter season.

cuttlefish balls and dumpling rice noodle soup
    Tiffany W.

Wonton Hut has been my go-to spot for years. You should try their dumplings, wontons and cuttlefish balls. I prefer the dumplings here. There's a nice mix of textures from the shrimp, pork and crunchy wood ear mushrooms. Their beef brisket is pretty good too. When the mood strikes, I get the hot and sour pork lo mein. It's not very traditional with straw mushrooms and a spicy ketchupy flavour but it hits the spot when you're craving it. I've tried their deep fried fish skins recently and they're not bad. While Big Trio is a close second, I find that the broth here stands out. One of the unique features of Cantonese style wonton noodle soup is the depth of flavour from the broth, made from shrimp shells, pork bones and an absolutely necessary dried flounder. It's getting harder and harder to find shops that use this ingredient with rising food costs but it really is what makes wontons authentic. The service is friendly and you definitely get the family business vibe here. Prices have steadily increased over the years so it's adding up but you can count on the portions and quality to be consistent. If you're every looking for the dace fish paste, they sell it by the half-pound and it's really bouncy.

Both pots arrived steaming hot and filled to the brim, clearly meant for sharing. I wanted to try Peking Duck and got clued into J&Y as one of the best options to try which did not disappoint. The Peking Duck was so tender, so flavorful and so wonderfully succulent. It was perfectly prepared and sliced with the fat rendered and thinly sliced. The wraps were not the monstrous steamed buns but traditional translucent wraps which are super thin, soft and pliable. Scallions, cucumber, hoisin sauce completed each wrap which highlighted the duck. Definitely the best traditional Peking Duck preparation I've had in a very very long time. The remains of the duck were used for make a duck fried rice and duck soup, again both were amazing. It takes a certain skill to make fried rice cleanly without an excessive oily coating on each grain of rice. This was one of the best fried rices I've ever had! No gratuitous mushy frozen peas needlessly added either. Well seasoned fried pork ribs and veggies completed the courses I had, everything was truly wonderful and I hope to revisit again.

I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. So we ordered Maggi Lobster (~3lbs) for $34/lb, and stir fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The lobster was cooked perfectly, with the Maggi sauce not being too salty. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. I don't think they added much MSG or at least used good quality ones, as we did not feel overly thirsty later in the evening. They give free daily soup and dessert. But I will be back as I said this place hardly disappoints and Even with this experience it's still an easy recommendation to come here I hope next time the quality is up to their old 30 year standards.

Fast service. Always tasty. Congee Wong is generous with their soup ingredients compared to other congee restaurants. Popo and Gunggung's favourite soup was D9 - Shrimp Dumpling Noodle in Soup. Rice noodles were made right and they were not overcooked. They preferred it with a bit of gai lan. P72 - Vegetable with Oyster Sauce. The veggies were slightly overcooked but still edible. This establishment has been here for years. Some people might find the decor outdated but it holds special memories to many of us patrons.

The restaurant was surrounded in tanks full of lobster, crab, seafood and then a ton of dry aged steaks. Definitely something you don't see in California. Clean and spacious. Service was what you would expect from a Chinese seafood restaurant. Overall the meal was good, for me and a few others at the table the star of the show was actually the fish. The lobster while impressive when they brought it out was not as flavorful as one would have expected. And same with the king crab legs - my favorite have been the ones I've had in SF. Was interesting to come and experience it but I wouldn't come back. I prefer quality food over an IG-moment.

The establishment is famous for its iconic, towering mountains of deep-fried Hong Kong-style lobster and giant Alaskan king crabs.Without a doubt, the food is exceptional. The seafood is extraordinarily fresh--pulled straight from massive surrounding glass tanks--and prepared to absolute perfection with their signature Maggi sauce and garlic toppings. However, the major downside here is the notoriously slow and chaotic service. Due to the massive crowds, servers can be hard to flag down, orders take a long time to arrive, and the staff often feels rushed or inattentive. Despite the frustrating wait times and subpar service, the spectacular flavors and theatrical presentation make it a worthwhile destination for patient seafood lovers.Watch the massive lobster towers being prepared and served fresh at this iconic spot

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
