I tend to visit this plaza regularly. In the northwest corner, at Midland and McNicoll, I tend to visit Pizza Hut more than any other business. Each time I'm there to pick up pizza, I longing look at Jim Chai Kee Wonton Noodle. Last night, I finally put a hold on getting pizza and went with noodles for takeout. I found this eatery on DoorDash and got these items: - A6. Shrimp wontons and fish balls with egg noodles in soup - Veggie platter in oyster sauce With the first item, I could choose the type of noodles that I wanted. Rice and vermicelli were the other options, but I went with traditional egg noodles. I have confirmed that I am an adult. I used to get wonton noodle soup and didn't feel the need to get veggies. I did last night. I had to get the veggie platter. You can specify whether you want the oyster sauce with it. I said yes. DoorDash was weird. My estimated pickup time kept incrementing by a minute. It never said that my order was ready. I contacted DoorDash support (it was chat by default) and then called the business. I spoke to two different women at this restaurant. Their English was a bit confusing to comprehend, but the second woman said that my order was ready. Great! The man at DoorDash called me. I said that the app was still not giving me a final time when my order was ready. I asked that he get someone to look at this glitch. All I got from this man was "I understand." Three times. I didn't have any confidence. Sadly, I was correct. He claimed that he had resolved the issue. I actually walked out of the eatery and my estimated time was ten minutes on DoorDash. Um, no. I parked my car fairly close to the eatery. I then walked in. It was busy at around 6:45 pm. I was greeted by a woman who knew my name from our phone conversation. She put my order together. I thanked her and happily left with my food. I live roughly five minutes from this eatery, so my food was still hot when I got home with it. I could smell vinegar in my car. I thought it was my car's ventilation system acting up, which was weird to me. I realized when I unpacked my food at home that I got a small cup of pink vinegar. The lid wasn't sealed properly and small pink puddles of the liquid were in my plastic bag. Luckily, none of the vinegar got into my car. I also got hoisin sauce in a similar small cup. It was sealed shut. I opened a container containing two shrimp wontons and three fish balls. The shrimp wontons were massive. The three fish balls weren't really balls. They were huge, too. I put everything in this container into a bowl. I then took the container of broth and poured it in. The egg noodles loosened up instantly in the soup. I was pleased. This soup noodle meal was yummy and inexpensive. The egg noodles were perfect. The broth was fine. It's wasn't overly flavourful or salty. I loved the green onions in it. It was clear and I consumed all of it, which is rare for me. The shrimp wontons were fantastic. It had whole shrimp in them. The wrapper sealed everything together. Two were perfect. The fish balls were delicious. It wasn't fishy and seemed to have chives mixed in. Three of them were perfect. I loved the veggie platter. I felt like I had balanced out my meal with it. The greens were crunchy and perfectly done. The oyster sauce was excellent. I ended up dipping my wontons and fish balls into this sauce. I couldn't tell you why it took me so long to get food from this eatery. Everything that I ate was excellent. I hope that DoorDash fixes the weird pickup time glitch. I'm a fan. Usually not a wonton/vermicelli person but my family has a soft spot for this type of cuisine. We had the shrimp wonton with egg noodle and beef vermicelli. Both bowls might not look visually appealing (photo below was staged for presentation). But the overall taste was excellent both by itself and with the condiments on the side. Wasn't too busy when my husband and I arrived at 530pm, we got a booth by the window. The aunties that worked who worked there gave us tea and time time to look over the menu. We both ordered the A1-Signature Noodle with wonton, beef and fishballs paired with egg noodles! Our meals came within minutes - there were lots of noodles, 2 large shrimp wontons, 2 large fishballs and a bunch of tender beef. I came for lunch with colleagues. I ordered the wonton and beef soup , the price was reasonable. There were table available when we went around 11:30am . Lots of parking spaces. The wontons were big and the soup was quite hot. However the beef I felt like it was too soft. There is no need to even chew the beef, it just melts in my mouth... which, is not my preference for beef. It is just too soft for my liking. Maybe I don't know how to appreciate it. The noodles had a bit of texture but was a little over cooked and kept on breaking off into one inch chunks. So, not surprised they raised their prices over the years (years ago this dish was about $5, now it's $8), but for the amount of food and the quality, it's still a good deal! Went here in a few months ago for takeout for the shrimp/beef noodle soup (it's cash only). They separated the noodles and the wontons in separate containers so as not to get soggy (yes!). The shrimp wonton were delicious- just the right about of bite to them. The beef perfectly cooked. The noodles had a great texture (probably better fresh in dining and not takeout, but you gotta take what you can get), and the broth was light and flavourful. I had lunch here with my parents and it was excellent. My dad got the A1 ($9) which was wontons, beef, and fish balls with noodles soup. My mom got the C2 ($8) which was wontons in soup (no noodles). I got the C1 ($10) which was wontons, beef and fish balls in soup (no noodles). The A1 comes with 2 wontons and 2 fish balls, whereas the C1 comes with 3 wontons and 3 fish balls. My mom's C2 came with 6 wontons. The food came out so fast. There is a self-serve area where you get your own water or tea and the food came out before we finished getting our tea (which we proceeded to do as soon as we finished ordering). Really awesome if you are pressed for time, lol. The wontons were huge. Like the size of a golf ball, and they were stuffed with shrimp. The beef slices were soft and tender, and I loved that the cut was lean, no fatty or gristley pieces. The fish balls were essentially fish meatballs. They were slightly chewy and didn't taste too fishy, which I liked. The broth wasn't all that flavourful, but at least it wasn't too salty or too oily/fatty. First of all this is not a Michelin Experience. I ordered the supreme bowl and the fish ball tasted like plastic! We're not yet finish paying but the staff is already asking for a tip! I'm personally not a huge fan of shrimp but I find the wontons here are humongous and taste delicious. This time around I ordered the beef noodles. I don't know how they do it but their beef is always so tender that you don't even really need to chew. The noodles were also cooked perfectly and carried the broth well. With a little bit of vinegar and hot oil, the noodles were upped to a new level of greatness. These noodles are an extremely comforting dish on any cold day. I've always known about the HWY 7 location but rarely make it that far north. When I found out they opened up shop south of Steeles, I knew I had to pass up on Ho Ho BBQ for some shrimpy goodness. The service is fast. I think it took about two and a half minutes from ordering to bringing the food to the table. My husband and I each ordered a bowl of wonton noodle soup and we shared a plate of greens. Delicious, simple, no frills. Plenty of firm shrimp in the wontons. No fillers. I hate that feeling of biting into mush when you're eating wontons. The noodles... I love wonton noodles but these ones are extra thin and have that amazing firmness/bite with each chew. Even after sitting in the hot broth they don't get overcooked? A miracle! The greens were blanched so nothing fancy but you want to feel healthy so eat some greens! Just a little tip: If you like spicy, their hot chili oil is like burn-your-mouth off spicy (and I love spicy!). Start small and add if needed. I went big to start and felt the burn BIG TIME. It was brought out to me instantly. Initially the bowl looked a little small. However, I quickly realized there were two huge shrimp wontons and two large fishballs under all the noodles.
