    Baked Sea Bass

I've been to a few Wood-n-Tap locations before, but this was my first time visiting the Hamden one. I have to commend the staff on how quickly everything came out, I'd say from appetizers to dessert we weren't there much over an hour, which I always appreciate, and they didn't make us feel rushed at all. The bison burger bites were an incredible appetizer, I'm not usually a burger girl but these were addicting and cooked perfectly! The salad was good, and I liked the hint of chipotle pepper in the Mac and cheese for some extra flavor. Our only critique was that my husband's baked sea bass from the spring specials was a little overcooked. The brownie was great for dessert and a generous size. The menu has a ton of great options that we'd be curious to come back and try!

After dropping my son off at Quinnipiac , we had a nice lunch at Wood n Tap. I tried a local beer - Fat Orange Cat Kittens Summer Ale. Yes, I was drawn to the unique and funny name, but it was delicious and refreshing. I got a blackened chicken sandwich with fries. Others at our table got the chop house steak salad and fish tacos. We had several special instructions with our order, but everything came out perfectly. Very enjoyable lunch all around in such a cool environment.

The staff was very nice. However, the food was some of the most disappointing I've had in a long time. The bison sliders' texture was like they were precooked and then reheated. I've never had bison that tasted like that. For $16 or whatever it was you'd expect it to taste amazing. The spinach artichoke dip had no flavor at all. My water cup was dirty inside, and I scraped stuff off with my straw, so I didn't want to drink anymore water. Overall, I was extremely disappointed to have spent so much money here and have it not be good.

My husband and I dined at Wood n Tap last night for trivia night. The restaurant/bar is pretty cozy inside but could use more individual seating in the bar area rather than community tables. I got the bison burger and my husband got the Cajun pasta. We were both very very happy with the food. Really tasty and very good portion sizes. The beer menu was also pretty big with lots of seasonal offerings. My husband ordered a beer that unfortunately was the last bit of the tap so did not fill his glass. Our server was super apologetic about this and insisted on making it up and was bringing him multiple tasters. Service was good but they only had one server and no busser. She was running around doing a great job but they need more staff. The trivia was really fun! We will definitely return for more trivia nights.

We really enjoy the outdoor space this wood & tap provides during the spring/summer/fall! My husband loves the apple salad with goat cheese, we both enjoy their nachos, and their seasonal offerings usually have something interesting & tasty as well. Our server was good and for an afternoon or evening you can almost forget you're on dixwell avenue and enjoy a summer breeze with a cool drink in hand.

The service here is outstanding! I love the crew that works here! I'm always greeted by a friendly face but I'm always thrilled to see Juliana behind the bar! The food is always consistent and their seasonal menus are always perfect for the time of year! The sirloin steak is always a must weather is on a salad or as a meal with veggies and risotto. Always love it there and the crowd it brings!

Buffalo chicken wrap. The chicken tasted like it was fried in old oil that needed to be changed.

Everything about this place is just meh and mid. The service was god awful slow but the waitress was friendly and nice. The food was just okay, and left a lot to be desired in the way of flavor. Also the chicken was "woody" like an old hen for the meat... that crunch when you bite into it that you done want. I'd say you can probably find a better place, but if you need to grab a bite I guess it's okay. Probably more like two and a half stars.

The food was decent. The service was good and the ambiance is a bar and grill. It was a fast meet up for lunch with a friend. The restaurant is local and convenient.

"We talked until two, and then she said, "It's time for bed." Then when I awoke, I was alone. This bird had flown. So, I lit a fire. Isn't it good, Norwegian wood?" (Lennon and McCartney) I've been to the Wood-n-Tap in Farmington half a dozen times, and yesterday I visited their Hamden location for a "halfway spot between Simsbury and Stamford" lunch with my brother. W-n-T Hamden is located in the huge Hamden Plaza strip mall, right off the Merritt Parkway. It has two entrances -one leads to a hostess stand and one leads right into a dining room. Of course I used the second choice which momentarily confused me because all I saw was tables of customers. But when I kept walking I saw the hostess stand in a second room and she guided me to a table in the center dining room. Our server , Maria, was fantastic. What a great personality and about as chill and helpful as can be.She gave mt brother and I plenty of time to chit chat before we ordered and I loved the way she was cool with us taking our time. Eventually I ordered a cup of chili ($6.49) and a Thai Salad ($11.99). My brother went with the Penne a la Vodka ($15.49). I love chili and I very much liked the WnT Hamden version. Plenty of meat with beans, a very zippy sauce, served with a sprinkle of shredded cheese, chopped onions, and three tortilla chips. The Thai Salad was huge. The menu listing described it as "vermicelli over a bed of greens tossed with Rice Wine Vinaigrette with chopped peanuts, sesame seeds and orange slices". I could have added chicken to it, but was glad I didn't because the dish was huge. And it was very good, especially that rice wine dressing. I took half of my lunch home. My brother's lunch was described on the menu as "Penne pasta and local peas in a tomato vodka sauce, topped with Parmesan" I saw him picking at it and I asked him if he liked it. He didn't. I tried a few bites and thought it was quite salty and the cheese flavor was too strong. Our lunch totaled $36.47 after tax and before tip. Wood-n-Tap Hamden was an enjoyable meeting place for our lunch and our interaction with Maria, who was great.

A staple quick bite favorite. Good food and welcoming service. TVs on deck to watch all sports possible. Buffalo chicken wrap was a tasty bite with a lil kick of heat. Ask for more or hotter sauce if you need more of a kick. Had a tappy old fashioned, not mad at all! Appetizer suggestion- fried calamari! Awesome!

Wood-n-Tap is a local chain of casual American pubs that was founded in 2002. The chain was founded by business partners Phil Barnett and Mike Hamlin. Barnett attended CCSU and spent his college days working at Joe's Bar and Grill, and rented an apartment from Hamlin. Together this duo founded the original Wood-N-Tap in Hartford. The menu would feature an eclectic mix of classic American pub fare as well as some modern creations. Wood-n-Tap also boasts an impressive list of wine, craft beer, and craft cocktails. The original Hartford location's success would spark a franchise with additional locations built in Farmington, Southington, Rocky Hill, Newington, Vernon, Wallingford, Hamden, Enfield, and West Springfield (MA). I recently attended an exclusive tasting event at Wood-n-Tap's Hamden location (which opened in 2016). The event was attended by a number of local foodie influencers who were invited to sample various plates and cocktails that were being added to the menu for the Spring; the menu changes seasonally. Some of the cocktails that were displayed included the "Spring Flight", the "Clem-N-Thyme Sangria", the "Key Lime Martini", the "Lavender Haze", and the "Bee's Knee Spritz". My personal favorite was the "Espresso Old Fashioned" (Revolution Rye and Grand Brulot barrel-aged for complexity). I can't say no to a good Old Fashioned, and I loved the coffee notes! Some of the Spring Menu plates that we were treated to included "Sausage-n-Kale Soup", "Reuben Egg Rolls", "Asparagus Caprese", the "Veggie Chickpea Burger", "Scallops and Sweet Pea Risotto" and "Carrot Cake". My favorite dish was the "Lemon Chicken Pasta" (chicken in a light lemon and wine sauce tossed with linguine, spinach, snow peas, red & yellow peppers). I love any Italian-inspired dishes that feature lemon flavor. I was so full by the end of the evening!

This is a great local restaurant... The food is always fresh and delicious. Good menu selection, anything from salad, to quesadillas to filet mignon medallions. The restaurant is always clean with super friendly staff. The manager often walks around introducing himself and asking you how everything is. They offer seasonal specials and weekly drink specials.

Olde World Brick Oven Apizza is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in North Haven, Connecticut…read morein 1995. It was founded by business partners Bill McCarthy and Joe Houde. McCarthy started making pizza at the age of 13. He received his training by working at local pizzerias such as La Bella's and Sorrento's. Once he reached adulthood, he started a career with the railroad. He worked with the railroad for several years until a physical injury caused him to retire. He went back to pizza-making when he started an eight-year stint at the popular Modern Apizza in New Haven. Eventually, he and Houde partnered up to open their own pizzeria. After 30 successful years, McCarthy and Houde decided to retire and sell the pizzeria. In April 2026, Olde World reopened under the ownership of business partners and chefs Robert Marcarelli, Jared Schulefand and Isarel Lopez. Marcarelli actually started his career working at Olde World, before going on to study at the Lincoln Culinary Institute. Schulefand started his career working as a busboy at Modern Apizza, before going on to study at Johnson and Wales University. He now owns Home Restaurant in Branford. Marcarelli & Schulefand both have their own restaurant consulting business (Pi Restaurant Consulting), and they co-own Supreme Seafood in North Branford, the Shanty in Branford, the Galley in Guilford, and NEBCO Kitchen in Branford. Lopez was a longtime pizzaiolo at Next Door Pizzeria in New Haven and nearly bought it before a deal fell through and it closed. In addition to New Haven-style thin crust apizza, Olde World also makes calzones, Italian entrees, pasta dishes, subs, stuffed breads and salads. I recently visited Olde World after they re-opened under the new ownership. I had eaten their pizza multiple times over the years and always loved it. How would the pizza taste now with the "new guys"? The new partners prepared a variety of different pies and dishes for my small group to sample. The classic "Mozzarella" (red sauce, mozzarella, pecorino) still tasted just as good as it ever did. In addition to the classic offerings, the partners have added some more modern twists to the menu, such as "Mashed Potato" (white, mashed potato, caramelized onions, bacon, garlic), "Crab Rangoon Pie" (white sauce, crème fraîche, imitation crab, sweet chili drizzle), and "Spring Fling" (asparagus, seacoast maitake mushrooms, ramp pesto, mozzarella, goat cheese, Szechuan chili honey). The latter (a special of the month) was my favorite of the tasting! We were also treated to some "Penne, Sausage & Broccoli Rabe" and "Burrata Salad" (asparagus, spicy capitol, herb marinated artichokes, tomato confit, baby greens, garlic crumb, balsamic truffle). Paired with some local Foxon Park sodas, we were treated to quite the feast! Not only is the food just as good as it ever was... it's even better now! I must tip my hat to our excellent hosts. I plan on coming back again and again!

And we sure found a good one in Hamden on Friday. We saw refrigerated cases full of pastas and raviolis, counters with trays of pizzas, showcases with trays of prepared foods like sausage and oeooers, eggplant rollatinis, and seafood marinara, a sandwich counter for cold cuts, and a baked goods counter. We narrowed our want list down to three very different items. We bought two slices of their sausage pizza, two garlic knots, and three eggplant rollatinis. The pizza was fantastic! Super thin crust, plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of cheese, a very good sauce and delicious sausage chunks. Oh, and the slices were enormous. We made a dinner out of the eggplant and garlic knots. The eggplant was sliced so thin, and was so soft and tender, it resembled lasagna noodles! The rollatinis were loaded with ricotta cheese and marinara sauce and it was a fantastic dish. We split the three rolls and let me tell ya, one and a half rolls were plenty for dinner. The garlic knots were ridiculously loaded with garlic, not teeny tiny shavings, but big hunks of garlic cloves. Needless to say, they were fantastic as well. Our total cost was $24.66, and Sapori threw in four complimentary slices of fresh Italian bread with our order. We really loved Sapori a lot.

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff
