I've been here twice. Once at a high table with a friend... we ordered wings & beers. And then one time by myself so I sat at the bar. I like the atmosphere. The people working are friendly. Their wings are great. Good beer selection. What's not to like about Delaney's!!!

Outstanding happy hour this evening at Delaney's. Sat outside and our server could not have been nicer(wish I got her name) she was very nice. The food was great the Buffalo chicken tenders had great flavor, house made potato chips were large and in charge lol. Great portions no way the 2 of us would have been able to finish them. Instant leftovers Stop by you will not be disappointed. The bar was full and busy and outdoor seating is available and was really good !

I used to frequent the OG Delaneys and randomly was in Westville one Saturday with my girlfriends and decided to stop in. So glad we did. We sat at the bar. Place was busy! Service was fast and friendly. Enjoyed our drinks and will be back again. Ahhh memories.

Had salad for lunch today at Delaney's. Glad after the fire at the old location they decided to reopen in a new location. I've had their salad years ago and it is still just as tasty as before. Right now they have a limited menu due to Covid but I really hope they add back the lobster ravioli and grilled shrimp meal. That was one of my favorite meals besides the salad. The Spring mix salad is a wonderful salad and a must try. You can get two meals from the one salad. Great portion size or share with a friend. Here are the pictures. Stop by and check out Delaney's you will be satisfied. Enjoy

Delaney's Restaurant & Tap Room is a craft beer bar and restaurant that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in 2000. It was founded by restaurateur Peter Gremse. The business opened at 882 Whalley Avenue in a building that dated back to the early 1900s and had previously housed other popular bars and restaurants such as the Cape Codder and Bernie Wrinn's. Gremse ran the restaurant with his wife Kat for several years. It was one of the first restaurants in Connecticut to have over 50 beer draft lines. For the food menu, Delaney's had a wide selection of classic pub fare including steak, seafood, pasta dishes, burgers & sandwiches, salads, and various appetizers. One dish they were very well known for was their Buffalo wings. Many locals thought of Delaney's as the heart of the Westville section of New Haven. When I first started dating my wife, she lived in an apartment in Westville and we visited Delaney's frequently. During the Blizzard of 2013, just about everything was closed... but Delaney's was open. Tons of locals braved the mountains of snow to get to Delaney's by foot. Everything came crashing down in August 2014 when Delaney's burned to the ground from an electrical fire. It was a very sad day for Westville residents. After a six year absence, locals were ecstatic when Delaney's reopened across the street in October 2000. I recently visited the new Delaney's before attending a concert at the nearby Westville Music Bowl. The new location is a little smaller than the original, but it features some of the old staff. I was with my brother, and after scanning the menu we decided to order some sandwiches. My brother ordered a French Dip sandwich with Onion Rings and I ordered a Grilled Reuben with Onion Rings. We were both very happy with our meal choices. My brother washed everything down with a couple of rum and cokes, while I had a couple of craft beers. I was surprised to see that Delaney's only had a few beers on tap, but a large selection of canned beer. I'm hoping that they get more draft lines up and running soon; I miss the days of 50+ taps.

Delaney's used to be one of my favorite restaurants when I was in college, they've always had good food and a good selection of beer. I'm glad they came back and the feeling I get is still the same.

I do like this place and the food is decent but....I ordered Buffalo chicken tenders and wow...pricier than I've ever seen anywhere! I got 4 small tenders for 15$! which isn't worth it AT ALL I understand you do them by weight is what I was told but that's a COMPLETE RIP OFF! I would never buy them again and probably won't come back due to that...so unfortunate

I love coming in here as you feel like you're living a part in Cheers as it is that great. Everyone seems to know each other and if you're not part of that friendly partner ship you will be soon as that's how comfortable you feel here. The food is beyond delicious and happy hour do not miss. Make it a point to check out this place as you will soon be a regular!!

The dining room was so loud esp when the bartenders were shaking drinks as if they were starring with Tom Hanks in "cocktail" We had the pea salad which was very fibrous and chewy (a 10 second Blanche wouldn't hurt) and the burger was tasty but served with frozen French fries, and way too much of them. Considering the style of menu, frozen fries don't belong on the menu. The fish was overcooked and dry. Overall, it's an inconsistent experience. Dinner for 3 was $200 with 1 shared app, 2 burgers and the fish course plus 3 drinks.

We had a time limit to eat (due to a reservation at the table) inside or on the heated patio. It was cold so we ate inside. Our waiter Brendan was cool, knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered a burger, fries (came with it) I don't like fries I opted for a salad. My daughter in law got octopus and a pasta dish. My son a steak in chili butter sauce .Everything was delicious and the presentation was lovely. My son's only vice was the steak pre cut (it was new on menu) He preferred to cut himself. The ambience was low level lighting and relaxed. I had a delicious meal and a pleasant experience. I'd patronize this place again. Oh we had dessert too. They had tiramisu, we shared a lemon tart it was delish

We walked in with no reservation on Valentine's Day (bold), and the manager couldn't have been more welcoming. Super friendly, got us seated quickly, and set the tone right away. That kind of hospitality matters. The vibe? Cool, modern, slightly moody -- perfect accidental Valentine's dinner energy. The service was on point all night. Attentive, smooth, and genuinely warm. Now let's talk about the moment that activated my Dominican DNA. I ordered the Sweet Plantains with Cilantro Aioli as an appetizer and when I saw plátanos on that menu? República Dominicana presente. . I felt seen. For my main, I had the Temple Salad and added a burger patty (because balance is important ). Fresh, flavorful, satisfying. My son ordered a burger with truffle fries and I am STILL thinking about those fries today. Crispy. Perfect salt. That truffle flavor hit just right. Those fries deserve their own review. And because it was Valentine's Day and I believe in celebrating myself too, I had the Pineapple Express. Divine. Tropical. Smooth. The kind of drink that keeps the gozadera going. Between Frank Pepe's and BAR, my friend, a Yale student, prefers the latter, and as a mere tourist,…read moreI deferred the decision to her. Man, so glad I did. We arrived on a Monday around peak dinner time, but there was essentially no wait (apparently uncommon according to my friend -- just a delightful consequence of dining at a college town during the summer). We split a medium pizza (1/2 elote mexican street corn and 1/2 bbq brisket), proving to be more than enough for two plus a more than ample amount of leftovers. Recently, I've gravitated toward thinner pizzas, a far cry from the typical Detroit (foccacia-esque) style pizzas I used to prefer, and BAR's pizza is akin to a flatbread yet very thin, another fallen angel to the GLP's. The undercarriage boasts a brilliant crust, almost cracker-like. However, it should be noted that the pizza is indulgent all the same. The elote pizza is quite possibly the most memorable, unique pizza I've ever had; it arrives almost crimson-red with a generous layer of corn and takis atop. It's still incredibly well balanced despite the hodgepodge of varied toppings. It's hard to pick a favorite between this and the bbq brisket though; while one is incredibly unique the other is simply sumptuous, nothing pedestrian about either of the two. The service is also impeccable, almost rivaling that of southern hospitality. I always thought Californians were friendly but something is in the air every time I visit New Haven. Incredible!

Based on a recommendation, four friends and I visited for an earlier dinner on Cinco de Mayo (yes,…read morewrong type of cuisine, but we were in town and this restaurant was on our list.) BAR is an interesting restaurant: open air, picnic tables, open space, paper plates, no utensils unless you ask for them, etc. We were greeted right away by a less than friendly waiter who seemed peeved we didn't have a drink to order right away. Strike one. After a few minutes, everyone put their drink order in and I asked if the bartender could make me a mojito since it wasn't on the menu. The waiter said yes, so I waited. Then came the mojito. It was the worst "mojito" I've tasted in my life. I'm not one to send a drink back because of an "I don't taste any alcohol" excuse, but this was BAD. It tasted like margarita mix with lime and mint sprigs thrown in. It was absolutely terrible. When I double checked with the waiter if the drink was an original mojito he simply said yes, not "is something wrong with the drink?" or "would you like to send it back?" The drink was so bad I told him I couldn't drink it. He was peeved again. Strike two. I asked for a soft drink instead and the soda was flat (strike 3), but at this point I just needed something to drink... because who wants to have water with their pizza? Then came the time to make a dinner choice. My mission was to try the mashed potato pizza. It was hands down AMAZING!! Mashed potatoes and bacon on a pizza. Yes, please!! This was the only saving grace from my experience. I would return to BAR again if only for that pizza! Two of my friends had the clam pizza and the pepperoni/mushroom. Both enjoyed their own! Warming: New Haven pizza is thin crust. I got two meals out of a small, so if you visit with a group, consider ordering a few small pizzas so you can taste a few. I would've given BAR 4 or 5 stars, but the unpleasant waiter, the "mojito," and the flat sofa made for a trifecta, so I'm giving my visit 3 stars. If I find myself in New Haven again, I'll be back! Hopefully my next update will be 5 stars!
