This is my all time favorite steak s (cooked to your liking) of all time and I got to have it again last night after having not had it for like 5 years. Nothing has changed it's as delicious as always. They also have incredible wings, burgers and salads (amongst all the other things on the menu I've yet to try). You can't see everything in the picture so I'll describe the sandwich for you: a whole piece of boneless ny strip (cooked to your preference) put on a small sub roll of toasted garlic bread with melted Gorgonzola cheese and just perfect onion rings (like, onion rings I can actually eat). Had salad for lunch today at Delaney's. Glad after the fire at the old location they decided to reopen in a new location. I've had their salad years ago and it is still just as tasty as before. Right now they have a limited menu due to Covid but I really hope they add back the lobster ravioli and grilled shrimp meal. That was one of my favorite meals besides the salad. Delaney's Restaurant & Tap Room is a craft beer bar and restaurant that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in 2000. It was founded by restaurateur Peter Gremse. The business opened at 882 Whalley Avenue in a building that dated back to the early 1900s and had previously housed other popular bars and restaurants such as the Cape Codder and Bernie Wrinn's. Gremse ran the restaurant with his wife Kat for several years. It was one of the first restaurants in Connecticut to have over 50 beer draft lines. For the food menu, Delaney's had a wide selection of classic pub fare including steak, seafood, pasta dishes, burgers & sandwiches, salads, and various appetizers. One dish they were very well known for was their Buffalo wings. Many locals thought of Delaney's as the heart of the Westville section of New Haven. When I first started dating my wife, she lived in an apartment in Westville and we visited Delaney's frequently. During the Blizzard of 2013, just about everything was closed... but Delaney's was open. Tons of locals braved the mountains of snow to get to Delaney's by foot. Everything came crashing down in August 2014 when Delaney's burned to the ground from an electrical fire. It was a very sad day for Westville residents. After a six year absence, locals were ecstatic when Delaney's reopened across the street in October 2000. I recently visited the new Delaney's before attending a concert at the nearby Westville Music Bowl. The new location is a little smaller than the original, but it features some of the old staff. I was with my brother, and after scanning the menu we decided to order some sandwiches. My brother ordered a French Dip sandwich with Onion Rings and I ordered a Grilled Reuben with Onion Rings. We were both very happy with our meal choices. My brother washed everything down with a couple of rum and cokes, while I had a couple of craft beers. I was surprised to see that Delaney's only had a few beers on tap, but a large selection of canned beer. I'm hoping that they get more draft lines up and running soon; I miss the days of 50+ taps. read more

AWFUL! Don't waste your time or money going here. The service was super slow, Jessica T. didn't know the menu, when I asked her if the ice tea was unsweetened, she replied 'I can't even taste the raspberry' - trust me, it was not unsweetened. The atmosphere is dumpy and the clientele makes you want to hold on to your purse and make sure your car is locked. It was not busy and Jessica would disappear for 20-30 minutes at a time. We sat at 5pm and barely got out in time for our show at Lyman Center at 7pm. The food was just ok but she never came back to ask us how it was and on top of it all JESSICA added an AUTO-GRATUITY to our bills for our party of 6 and didn't tell us so we all tipped on top of it for this already poor, un-excusable service. I will NEVER go back and I suggest you try one of the other honest establishments in the area. read more

What a great spot! Actually come here quite often, and love the environment every time. Such a laid back bar, but not necessarily a "dive". The food is very very good, of all of the local bars downtown New Haven, I would have to say they have the best. Glad Delaney's is back in Westville! The staff and service have been wonderful. The food is great, try the buffalo tenders with house made bleu cheese. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate a nice evening out with friends. Also, the reviewer Eric N. was banned from the bar for his belligerent drunken behavior. He bothered many customers by drunkenly stumbling over trying to receive free drinks with his military stories. Funny thing about this, he seems to be in a different branch of the military or government on a weekly basis. On several occasions, when customers ask him to leave, he uses threatening language about causing physical harm. It's not that this bar is anti-military, it's anti-douchebag. read more

Visited this new bar and restaurant during a weekend trip to CT and am so happy I found it. A local recommended it, so I had to give it a try. The owner Mike came over and greeted us so my friend and I felt like we were in good hands right from the start. He recommended the bleu chips which we loved (the bleu cheese sauce was addictive and should be bottled and sold - it was that good). We shared the crab cakes for our main and they were fantastic. The server and bartender were super friendly and the place had a Cheers-like feel. First time visit. Seated on patio, dog welcome. Parking was easy, right behind the restaurant. Service prompt and friendly. No view from patio, but overhead trees are pleasant. Food: Bleu chips were excellent (but be sure to ask them to hold the jalapenos or they will overwhelm the cheese). 1 serving would be generous appetizer for 4 people. Mozzarella sticks done just right. Burger was good, but bun was blah (Kaiser roll or good local bread would have been better.) "Harvest Salad" fresh and flavorful.
