I was hungry... I had just driven about 3 hours to get into town, checked into my hotel (which is…read morealso amazing) and started to try and find food. Several places were closed for the day already and I saw this little corner place that still had the Open sign on. Burgers? Sure, why not, that should fill me up and it sure did! I ordered the regular Old Fashioned (no cheese), side of fries and a drink. Everyone was very friendly and helpful as I've never been to this place to eat before let alone this part of the state! The burger was perfectly cooked at medium and very juicy and delicious! Fried were good, not great but the burger was the star of the meal anyway. But I will say the fries were good once I dipped them in the dripping juices and sauce from the burger. But it was a very hearty burger and after a long drive, really hit the spot! If I'm ever in this area again or see another Sylvester's I will definitely make it a point to visit and try a different burger. Favorite dish: Old Fashioned with no cheese. Go out and EAT!

The meat was very tough like eating dry pork chops not tender and good. My friend happened to be having her husband's 75th birthday party there toward the end of our meal they showed up. An extra table for about 12 had been added on the grass area at the end of outside the patio. With folding metal chairs. They did NOT staff for the extra seating and my friend texted me after we left that they waited a full HOUR to even get waters!! This is not acceptable. I don't feel that anything will improve until some time that this restaurant is sold and has new management. I just wish that someone would open another steakhouse in North County and provide good service. Apparently we will never see adequate staffing at Loading Chute. So until there's another option we keep coming back. I miss McClintocks in downtown Paso. Finally one last note. I'm a sparkling wine drinker and I love the Wycliffe Sparkling they serve. I shared my win with my neighbor (because some things are meant to be celebrated properly), and she immediately said, "That's my favorite steakhouse." From one Mc to another... I'm taking that as very good guidance. There's something special about places that consistently show up -- for their guests and for their community. The beer was a Mosaic Pale Ale from a local SLO brewery called "There doesn't exist" We sat outside in their patio section, the weather was perfect. We learned our 3:30p Sunday arrival meant that we missed the live music they have on Sundays from noon-3pm. Bummer Service was quick and friendly. Would definitely return if it was along the path of our future travels.
