Went to lake Park on Sunday to see the car show and with time to kill afterwards, my girlfriend and I decided to grab some beer. She was excited to get into A-Town and wanted to spin by Traffic Records, but first Wild Fields Brewhouse. Located near the theater in what seemed like an under used strip mall, Wild Fields anchors down a large portion of the building. It felt like a German brewhouse, walking into a wine, open room with bar and booth seating, along with picnic tables. Arcade games dotted the far walls and the kitchen located at the end of the bar. Lots of stainless steel behind the roll up door with a list of what's :in the tanks" on thew glass behind the bar. The top list showed 20 beers available with Berliner Weiss listed as a 3.99 beer. Nice touch, and show this 3.99 beer rotates, as I returned a few days later. After finishing reviewing all the breweries in Paso for the SLO Beer Guide, A-Town was next on my list, but hadn't got down there until this visit. Talking to a couple at Cal Coast, they both agreed that Learning to Fly was their favorite IPA, so that was my mission, to check out this beer. That said, we each got a flight of beers to share and was able to sample 8 different beers from Atascadero Beach, 4101, Windswept Fields and Porch Drinkin' to Mouse Rock, Hop Clarity and License to Fill. We also tossed in Three Bridges and Oktoberfest. Unfortunately, Learning to Fly was sold out, so we left with a can as well as Cloudbreak. The beers, flawless. While not every style I faithfully drink, like brown ales or a Marzen, but am experienced enough to know a well crafted beer when I taste one. Three Bridges won gold at WBC and GABF in 2022, as did Atascadero Beach. MY second trip back I sampled their English Brown Ale, Pine Mountain Monolith, which took home gold in 2021 and 2022 from GABF and WBC, repeating that in 2022 at GABF. As was recommended to me, Learning to Fly, the 7% WCIPA was incredible. As I summerized in my beer review, "Wild Fields' first flight and still a defining one. Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra at 7% ABV and 100 IBU -- citrusy, piney, dank, tropical, crushable. The brewery's own mixtape, played from the very beginning. Still sounds good." We didn't sample any food while we were there, but they do have an extensive menu in place. Seems like a fun place to hang out and grab some beer and food. We recently moved to Atascadero with our family of 3 and our 1-year-old son, and Wild Fields Brewhouse has already become a favorite. It's super family friendly, and our son loves the toddler play area. Our nieces also love the arcade games, so it's a great spot for kids and families. The beer is the best we've had in Atascadero, especially the west coast-style pale ales and IPAs like Atasca-where-o, Afraid of the Grade, Mouse Rock, and Hop Clarity. The staff has always been great, the indoor/outdoor space is awesome for groups, and having a full kitchen makes it even better. We even hosted a small lead-in gathering there the night before our son's 1st birthday party, and it was perfect. We're excited to keep coming back and becoming regulars. read more

First thing wife and myself noticed upon walking into Wild Fields is how it has a very similar vibe to Pizza Ports in SoCal: starting with the arcade, family friendly atmosphere, and even their beer board design. This makes total sense knowing that the owners came from San Diego and both worked for PPBC. Being familiar with Wild Fields award-winning brews we settled for the flight and then added some food later. Being a West Coast IPA couple, we were not disappointed with their draft offerings. In addition to IPAs, they have a good representaion of other styles, so there will be something for everyone-as long as they like beer. Wild Fields also puts together a home-brew competion, fuly embracing their community and craft beer roots. The winner gets to brew a batch of their recipe on the house system and this ultra low alcohol, smoked wheat beer was one of the most unique beers I've had. For the food, we had pulled pork and loaded mac-n-cheese. Pulled pork was fine, but I'd prefer more smoke flavor and aroma. For loaded mac, the protein is polish sausage-not something I've seen before. While it somewhat works, I don't think I'd order this again. They also had a ticketed comedy show, which we stayed for after the official closing time on a Saturday. It was fun and totally worth it. With their strong local connections and family atmosphere, Wild Fields in Atascadero is worth the detour from SLO and Paso destinations, especially for families. read more

Went here with a couple of our friends and their kids. Awesome, especially if you have kids. A bunch of beer on tap, wine, cider, soda, etc. The food looked good, bar type. Have an on tap Octoberfest and it was deep, rich and refreshing! The kids had a blast with the games! Excellent beer from this small local Atascadero brewery. Their German style pilsener is delicious. It's very comparable to a Bavarian Pilsener which is not as hoppy as the northern German Pilsener beers. Very refreshing, well balanced and simply easy to drink. Our family has visited this establishment twice now in just over a week and it is our new favorite spot to eat. I love how the owners created it to be family friendly, our 4 year old and can play on the games with us and his siblings while we all wait for our food to come and not feel cramped in a booth. Our son is always bursting with energy, which often makes eating out difficult. At this lovely establishment he can play to his hearts delight while we can enjoy the time with him and friends. The whole family enjoyed the rollerball and basketball. The food selection was fantastic! Our daughter and myself especially loved the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese as the side. Our younger sons enjoyed the hotdog and mac and cheese with apple slices. Welcomed greeting upon entry, they serve typical bar food and they have a play area for kids. When our son was younger I'd love that, but in my current state of 50 something I find it noisy and a nuisance. Don't hate, just speaking my truth. I ordered a flight of their dark/malty options and I thought the unstuck in time, but my fav was mountain moonlight. Thought all were drinkable with three bridges being my least favorite. Must say hubby's license to fill IPA was refreshing and very drinkable. They have outdoor seating, but too hot on this particular day. Though wouldn't call it a beer garden. Must say food took wayyyy too long to come out and they served everything together. Expected the artichoke dip to come out first. New favorite family friendly destination for us in Atascadero. I had heard they were good for families and I knew they had received some beer awards so it was hard not to stop here. Great location with a huge open area with games, a toddler station, and tiny bowling. The staff here is super friendly and makes sure to take care of you. The beers are pretty good, we've tried a few including from the cask and have enjoyed them all. Food is pretty decent, though it can take awhile. But, we always end up staying awhile so it's all good. Great time meeting other people here and so many great options for kids to stay entertained. Usually this is a really cool place to come and chill. It was after 7 and one of the workers was playing some different music, the owner (I think) walked in and yelled at the young man for his song choice. While I agree it was probably an inappropriate song, this is a bar, but more notably she could have taken him in the back to have the conversation instead of ruining the whole vibe of the entire bar, who were all having fun until she came in yelling at the whole staff. read more

Straight out the gate - excellent! We stopped by, exploring new brewhouses & places to eat in Paso and beyond since we're in process of relocating to the area. The hubby LOVED the beers, and lunch was amazing. Hard to choose from great menu choices but we'll be back to try more so I'm not worried on missing out haha. What a fun place to visit for the whole family! They have arcade games for the kids and young at heart. Certain days they have trivia night (I think Monday) then bingo nights. They like to keep it fun for the customers. We had dinner the last time and their food is amazing. The flavors of everything were excellent! Our beertender & waiter was Tyler and he was fantastic. So friendly & knowledgeable. He suggested the Ruben which was so flavorful tender & delicious. I got a side of the potato salad also so good. My husband had the elote burger again so delicious and cooked perfectly. Both paired perfectly with an in house ipa & ale. We knew their beers & sours were great but the food needs recognition! Came in a few weeks ago on a Tuesday evening. We had no idea bingo was going on. Looked interesting. A lot of kids running around, reminded me of Chuck E. Cheese. I walked in first. Literally stood there for a good five minutes with no greeting, no hostess and no server, which is fine. Then I walked up to the bar stood there for about five minutes With no hello or may I help you so I just went to the closest table, which was a booth.. then my friends came in five minutes later asked if we've been waiting on and I said no. My buddy then walked up to the bar, he ordered his beers right away. It's apparently they only serve white people and not black. The beers were pretty tasty and we noticed no one ordered food. The bowling seemed pretty fun.. as we left, I was literally looking for the sign that said "whites only ". We will not be back. read more

there's so much to love about this place. For one, they have a $2.99 beer special and whatever Cosmo something or other name it has, it was quite delicious at any price. Plus, there are children running around playing games and doing all sorts of old world fun things, including a strange bowling alley. It's just a joyful environment! The food could be better. We had the pretzel and the nachos and a taco salad. It was okay, but everything was quite heavy and tasted pre fabbed and thrown together--not awful by any means, but just not up to the par of the beer and ambiance!!! Our family loves coming here, great for adults and great for kids. Make sure to try the "sidewinders" (fries) more like potato spirals, they're awesome. Food is yummy and decently priced. Menu has something for everyone, as well as the drink options. The games are fun and diverse, a tad overpriced but Wild Fields themselves aren't in charge of that. One thing I wish they'd change is slicing their apples correctly! Every time the kids get apple slices on their plate there's chunks that still include the stem and the core. They're offering indoor seating, a full menu of what could best be described as give-me-some-of-that comfort food, and a wide array of house-crafted beers to chose from, one of which is sure to whet your whistle. We opted for a large bowl of the Three Bean Chili, a Porkstrami, and side of Onion Dip. We recommend you come good and ready to eat because there's no skimping on portions here. It was hot so we wanted a light and refreshing beer with our meal. Definitely recommend the Pine Mountain Monolith, a brown ale that, while light, is full on flavor, then surprises your mouth with its delicate twist of sweet finish. LOVED it. Nice spot for trivia and bingo nights. The food is good and the atmosphere is joyful. It definitely gets loud here during trivia nights. The only problem I have encountered here is seating. It gets packed and the bench tables can look partially empty, but people usually have family coming and going from their table. This place is definitely not at all what we were expecting. Was surely anticipating a typical brewery and bar type place with good pub style food but to our dismay this place was quite a let down. We ordered the pretzel with mustard and artichoke dip for appetizers. The pretzel was stale tasting/like out of a frozen package from the grocery store and the mustard was watered down and not good at all. The artichoke dip was basic and lacked flavor, and the chips served alongside the dip were like $2 chips from the grocery store as well. There are a ton of arcade games and there was a large group of very loud kids when we went. If you aren't ready for screaming kids the entire time, then steer clear. I've been to Wild Fields a few times, and each time the service, friendliness and quality has been incredibly consistent. The bartenders are each so outgoing and knowledgable that it makes it feel like I'm one of the regulars. I offered what type of beer I wanted, and the options were explained and tastes were given to help me make the best choice for the evening. The environment is so friendly that other visitors end up talking to each other and sharing travel stories. I can't say enough about the BLTE sandwich. I'll preface this by saying that we came by on their 6th (!) day open-- this place is brand spankin' new, which in Atascadero, means that they are about to be slammed with a ton of business. We're hurting for good restaurant options here! Walking in, there are a few booths and tables, and surprisingly, a bunch of arcade games (including bowling!), and tons of kids' toys. If you have kiddos and want to enjoy a beer while they have a ball playing, this is your spot. If you don't like to hear kids playing, then it's probably not going to be your jam. One thing to know is that it's counter service-- so you'll place your food and beer order at the bar (not sure if you can also order over where the food actually comes out. They may have had a register there), and you'll be given a buzzer when it's ready. When we visited, they were still figuring out the brand new POS system, which is obviously understandable. We ordered a linguica grilled cheese (for my husband), and I had a create-your-own-sausage-sandwich. The pricing for the DIY sandwiches may need some tweaking-- I realized after the fact that I'd been charged an extra couple of bucks for things that were supposed to be included. Not a big deal, they are learning (I was the first "create your own" they had made), and I will just look at my receipt more closely next time. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious. My husband's grilled cheese was packed with linguica, and with flavor. My "DIY" sandwich was great also-- their kielbasa is a winner. I also sampled the nitro Irish stout and pilsner, both of which I really liked. I'd come back for the nitro, and definitely for the yummy food as well. One great thing we noticed is that they have a lot of vegetarian-friendly options (and non-boring salads-- winning!). We sorely need this in A-Town, so two thumbs up there! We sat at the bar and the service was excellent. It's a little on the loud side with all the arcade games but it's one of the few bars I've been to that is really geared towards family. I started out with a tasting flight and then choose a beer from that. There is a lot of variety mostly ales and then a few local wines and cider. Amazing, vegan hot dogs! We are actually on a road trip back heading that way, and we were kicking ourselves for not taking photos because it took us a while to remember this place.
