The vibe of the place was OK. It was small not that many tables but I liked it because it wasn't big. the service The guy at the register didn't greet us he didn't ask if I wanted our food for here or to go just stood there waiting to tell our order. The food was not what I was expecting the bun for the burger bun was wet first bite I took the burger came apart had to use a fork, the taste was really not it, it was kinda bitter and didn't taste good it. My friend got a buffalo burger when it came out it had a hair or a grill brush in the food it was not it the Sylvester's in Atascadero is honestly better than the one here in paso will not be going there again

A small indoor eating area I took mine to go. The burger and fries were a great deal for the price. Service was fast and friendly.

I went in planning to order the $11.95 cheeseburger combo, but I swerved and got the gourmet western burger combo for $14.49 instead. Excellent decision. The skinny fries with the skins on came out steaming hot, and the burger was fantastic--a big, flavorful patty hanging over the edge of a fresh bun like it had something to prove. No gimmicks, no overthinking, just a solid local burger spot doing burgers right.

I stopped at J's Burger in Paso Robles looking for something easy and casual, just a simple burger…read morespot to grab lunch. It's a small place, not fancy, but it felt friendly and relaxed, the kind of place that doesn't try too hard and knows what it is. Here are the details... *Service: everyone was very friendly. The guy at the front was genuinely nice, but he was pretty confused and confusing when I asked about the daily specials and pricing. He tried to explain it, but it made understanding what was what harder than it should have been. Nothing negative intention-wise at all, just a little chaotic and unclear. *Food: I ordered the burger medium rare, no cheese. It came out medium well with cheese and a very small piece of pineapple. Not exactly what I ordered, but it still tasted good. It had plenty of condiments, lettuce, tomato, a thin slice of ham, and mayonnaise. Flavor-wise it was solid, just not what I asked for. The fries were excellent. Crispy, fresh, and clearly made from real potatoes. They slice whole potatoes in-house with a slicing machine and turn them straight into fries, which I thought was really cool. They also had some kind of seasoning on them that made them even better. They have a lot of good burger options, plus chicken sandwiches, salads, and chicken strips. I liked that there was variety beyond just burgers. They also do a daily special burger for $10.99, combo meals are $13.99, and you can sub onion rings for fries for $0.99, which felt fair. *Ambiance: it's pretty clean, open, and small, about ten tables inside. It felt comfortable and simple. There are a few tables out front and a picnic table under a big tree, which is a nice idea, but it's right off the main street so it's not super peaceful. *Value: it felt like a pretty good value. The pricing made sense for what you get, especially with the daily specials and combo options. Nothing felt overpriced. *Overall: this was a solid but not standout experience. Friendly people, great fries, good burger flavor, but the order accuracy and confusing explanation of specials held it back. I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It's a decent stop if you're in the area and want something casual and quick. I added a bunch of pictures to help you get a feel.

Fun atmosphere and good food!…read more Stopped here for a quick drink and bite to eat before heading back to the hotel for the night. The town was hosting live music at the plaza across the street so we sat outside facing the plaza. It was a great way to enjoy our meal! The place was pretty packed because of the World Cup going on (Mexico vs Korea) so I understand why our server was a bit slow. She was handling tables inside and outside but keep in mind when it gets busy you may wait a bit longer for things. I ordered "The Steak" which is a hangar steak with a compound butter on top and Brussels sprouts on the side, I subbed potatoes for coleslaw. The steak was cooked nicely and had a great crust on the outside, very flavorful with just the right amount of saltiness. The Brussels were some of the best I've had even though they were so simple. I ate every last one! The slaw was ok but not a ton of flavor, it was pretty light on the sauce. We also got an order of bacon wrapped jalapeños with cilantro ranch. They were so good! We destroyed them in seconds while burning our tongues on the lava-like cheese. Worth it!

November 2025 Since…read moreI gave such a stellar review of the Bacon Crusted Burger at Street Side Ale House, I must update the comments since people do go to restaurants based on other's reviews. And I am so embarrassed to have recommended this restaurant to dozens of people. We raved to our friends about this place and this burger in particular. So, when we traveled with them to Paso Robles this week, we took them there on Thursday night. We passed on having the Wagyu 8 oz. burger and fries at In Bloom (Michelin listed) the night before in anticipation of this burger. Service was abysmal. We sat for quite some time with no service. My wife went in and asked where our server was? Finally, a woman showed up and said our waiter would be with us shortly. Sometime later, a friendly waiter arrived. He was obviously new, under-trained, and spread too thin. He was very personable, but our drinks sat on the bar for a long time and my wife had to go in and ask if she could take then. "No, the waiter will bring them out." Meanwhile, our friends were sipping on their drinks. We got our appetizers and then ordered our meals. The food came quickly, maybe too quickly, and I noticed no egg yolk oozing out (it was halved for us in the kitchen) and the burger overall was much thinner than the last time and the arugula was so wet under the patty. So, we ate a couple bites of it and it just did not taste right. I opened it up to find a baked or boiled grey patty with no crispy bacon wrapping. The bacon was soft, I mean boiled soft and was a small lump on top of the burger patty, not even close to crispy. More like a damp towel. The avocado was sliced but not spread out, so stuck on the left side. The egg was hard cooked with a solid yolk. No pepper to be found. I showed the waiter who was stunned. He thought we were kidding. The manger came out, looked at it, asked what we wanted to do. I was a bit surprised given the wreck that this burger was and said I don't know, what do you want to do? He said the chef wasn't there but took the plate back to the kitchen. He came back and said the chef (wait, he wasn't there) was surprised and said it was not right. The chef (if he was there) should have headed straight out to us and apologized. So, the manager took the burger off the bill but left the same horrible burger ($22) on our friend's bill. I should not have to tell a manager how to fix such a mess and disaster of a meal and service. I hope they fix their kitchen, whoever is checking food at the pass, and the service or they will be another casualty to the restaurant business in Paso. Sorry I had to write this as I rarely post negative reviews in order to not hurt a business and their employees.

My wife found this place on our most recent visit to Paso Robles - Good eyes!…read more We dropped in on a Tuesday night - we came in after a group of 6 were seated, and were seated within a few minutes. The place was really busy. I could see several flat screen TVs over the bar playing the World Cup, and the bar was slammed. We dithered over the menu - they provided a drink menu and a food menu. I ended up ordering a Trio - which was comprised of a Spicy Tuna sandwich, a Baja Burger (which was also spicy) and their Garlic Fries, which were served with a dish of a very spicy garlic aioli sauce that my wife and I shared. My wife ordered a Duo with a Vacation Mode sandwich which featured pesto chicken, hummus, olive tappanade, and garlic aioli. She really liked her sandwich. She paired that (Duo you get 2) with a California Cowboy Cobb salad, which as you can see in the photos, was quite large. The food was served hot and fresh - the fries were very nice shoestring type, and were cooked properly. I have had "spicy" Tuna sandwiches before - this was the first one which was really spicy - it was perfect. A nice slab of seared tuna as well. The burger was just plain good. They call the burgers "sliders" because they are around 3 inches in diameter. If you have a larger appetite, figure it out. The drinks were good - I ordered the Old Fashioned (if you don't know what that is, try one) and my wife ordered the more exotic Beauty School Dropout, which had Crowbar Pink Gin, Elderflower liquer, lavender and honey syrup, lemon AND lime juice which was served in a chilled cut glass coup glass. Yes, I know I used "glass twice". It was very tangy and refreshing. The place has large doors which were open with seating both inside and outside. There were larger tables for larger groups. Take a minute to go over the menu, or you might miss the slider of your dreams.

I was curious as to how the burgers I ordered would taste as it was a tad pricey at $18.00. The meat is a combined hormone free ground chuck and brisket. Comes with homemade potato chips, nice and crispy. I especially enjoyed the flavors of the goat cheese and balsamic drizzle with carmelized onions, roasted red peppers; all topped with a nice and fresh bun with a basil glaze spread. My husband ordered the Prosecutor burger with substituted Swiss, with bacon and avocado. He downed it so I know his was good too. I really want to come back and try the salmon BLT on a brioche bun sandwich. I paired my burger with a lavender lemonade, for $5.00 very refreshing. Total bill plus tax came in at $50.00 plus a tip.
