I was visiting family and needed to get some work done and found this cute coffee shop nearby. There is a parking lot with made it way much easier for parking. I didn't know that the cafe was deaf-operated. Only when I was ordering did I realized that. The girl taking my order was trying to read my lips and I kept looking down at the menu. The staff were extremely nice and the latte was delicious. The space is a nice size and they have lots of tables for those needing to get work done and for those catching up with friends; both inside and out.

The concept is awesome! ASL friendly. Lots of board games to play which is cute. The staff was very friendly. However they did get my order wrong and the matcha didn't taste like anything even after I added extra sugar.

I didn't realize this place was about a block further down Woodstock than I go so I had no idea they were over here until sandwich week. It looked really good so I wanted to give it a try. It's a cute little place with some parking in the lot and street as well. They do have a microphone for translation, but I didn't use it because like many, I use my hands when I talk anyway (not sign language). Super friendly service. The place is small, but was enough for people to get together to play games. I loved the sandwich. The bread was so good and it was more like a fresh made sandwich. You know the type you would make if you had all the ingredients and could REALLY make yourself a sandwich. I really enjoyed it and it was a little different than the other sandwiches I get. Now that I know I need to visit more often.

Woodstock Cafe has new staff as a haven and friendly hangout for sign language communicators. I stopped by for the reopening for their new project with Cymaspace - https://www.yelp.com/biz/cymaspace-portland. There were several families there, all ages including college age, and a lot of happiness. Cymaspace has partnered with Stumptown to train deaf baristas to operate Woodstock Cafe. In the coffee community, Stumptown training is considered the finest and Stumptown-trained baristas are favored in hiring by all shops. They have a pad computer kiosk at the counter and a placard for pointing for non-signers. So if you are hearing like me, ordering is easy. The coffee was excellent, they have alt-dairy options, beans, and some more interesting pastries in my photo. They are keeping up their Yelp listing on hours. If you have deaf family members or friends, spread the word!

Amazing experience! The staff accommodated our entire American Sign Language class from Lakeridge high school so we could come and order food and drinks from them practicing what we have been learning. They were all so patient with us and made the experience absolutely wonderful. The coffee was great, chai delicious, and the kids loved a lot of of the food that they had. We can't brag enough about this café!

I had a lovely experience at Woodstock cafe today. Woodstock is an asl friendly non profit cafe. The environment was so welcoming and inclusive. I wish there were more business like them in Oregon!!The employees were so friendly and accommodating especially since my asl was a bit rusty. They have a wide selection of breakfast and lunch menu items as well as pastries, coffee, and tea. Some people were signing their order and others spoke. They also have an iPad to place your order through. It seemed like all the baristas knew asl and a few were hearing so if you don't know asl don't let that deter you from coming here. And if you do know asl or are deaf you should absolutely check it out!

The sandwiches are very great and my latte was everything I could want and more. the two people working were very kind and I was able to use a little ASL with them. I hope to learn more. Inclusivity at its best.

I love getting a coffee here!

My new favorite coffee spot! The service was amazing, and my coffee was delicious. There's indoor and outdoor seating... all around a wonderful, safe space.

They have a great selection of pastries. The croissants are so amazing. You can tell it's a good croissant from all the fluffy layers. It's got a good egg wash on top which makes it crispy on top and soft and buttery on the inside. I also had to get the tiramisu latte. It was made to perfection. I like my coffee sweet so this was right up my ally. I also got a cookie and brownie. When you heat up the cookie and brownie a bit, it's a little taste of heaven! If you're in the area, don't sleep on this place. It's a must try!

I got the chocolate noir again because I loved the richness! It was delicious and strong! I also got their croissants this time! It was one of the best croissants I've ever had! It was light, airy, and the butter taste was not overpowering. It was fantastic! Yes, this area is a little more $$ but it's worth going and if I ever drop by an Artisserie Fine Bakery, I will get it (and try their other goodies, too!)

When…read morewe arrived, about an hour and a half before close, they still had a decent number of pastries in the display window, all of which looked amazing. Pricing seems to be quite high, especially for Portland, but the quality also seems to be stellar. We dug into the food after we got back to our hotel room: Seasonal Big Breakfast Croissant ($11) - This hefty croissant is topped with thick cut bacon rolled over a slice of tomato slathered with pesto. It gives a salty and savory umami punch, specially when combined with the caramelized and crunchy cheese layer draped over the decadent croissant base. The croissant is stuffed with a mixture of salty and herbal breakfast sausage pieces, mushroom, egg, red bell pepper and cheese. There's plenty of filling but the lamination still looks astoundingly good. At many other bakeries, adding anything at all inside causes the laminated layers to collapse and a giant air-filled bubble to develop as the moisture causes steam to puff the interior layers together. This one, on the other hand, still has tons of distinct flaky layers, buttery and slightly sweet. I don't know how they do it. I especially love the presentation of this croissant - it's essentially a box with a design that resembles a wrapped Christmas present. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This cruffin is much taller than similar pastries from other bakeries, reaching perhaps four inches tall including the whipped icing, embedded with extremely tangy dried raspberry bits. I think it's supposed to be rose flavored, but the raspberry overwhelms any flowery notes. The cruffin is rolled in sugar, adding additional sweetness. The interior layering of the croissant is fantastic. It's exceptionally flaky and crisp, super buttery and rich in taste. After baking, the pastry is filled with pastry cream and a bit of raspberry jam. Overall another excellent croissant. (5/5) Seasonal Apple Crumble Danish ($7) - This is another layered pastry with a gorgeous design. It looks like it's made with two pieces of dough (puff pastry?) - a puck on the bottom then another wrapped around. The crispness on the sides is more pronounced than the other two croissants. The bottom isn't nearly as crisp, but it holds up to the heavy filling. The filling is sweet, cinnamony, and earthy with cooked down apples that still have some bite. I especially love the sweet crunchy crumble bits sprinkled on top! I don't really enjoy eating apple pie, but I found this one to be delicious. I was really impressed with the pastries I got from Twisted Croissant. This will be a definite revisit the next time I'm in Portland. (PS I'm really jealous that Portland has so many top-tier patisseries... I mean, Seattle has some great ones, but Portland really knocks it out of the park with the overall number of exceptional bakeries) Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms

They also offer espresso drinks though we did not get any this time. We came on a Wednesday morning and there was only one person working. It was surprisingly busy for a random weekday morning but service was still warm and friendly. The space was open and bright and spacious with an iconic croissant light. Plenty of table, window counter, and couch seating. Clean bathrooms and you bus yourself. My daughter loved her Marionberry Custard Tart. It was creamy, with the iconic Marionberry sweet and tart flavors, and the crust was flakey and crispy. The Lemon and Poppyseed and the Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann pull apart croissants were both hefty in weight but a flavorful delight! That Raspberry Rose Cruffin looked bomb so we will definitely have to come back to try more classic and seasonal flavors. The perfect treat!

I added breakfast to this place while they visited me for a few days. We called in our order as instructed on the website. Unfortunately no Boba was available for on the pancakes. When we arrived I was disheartened to find the place rather small either intense heat of a bakery, which made the lone table inside with a meandering fly the least bit welcoming. When adding drinks to our order, the lone man working there asked me a few times whether I really was ordering coffee for a child (and yes, she settled on a mocha when it was determined he only knew how to sprinkle matcha powder on the pancakes, and hadn't a clue as to their application to drinks). My grandson ordered their 'special hot chocolate' which pretty much tasted like watered-down Ovaltine. We sat outside to eat and after a few bites and finding these were nothing like the fluffy Japanese pancakes they'd expected, we threw away $44 worth of what was supposed to be a pleasant breakfast experience. I guess this was a life lesson for the kids, that our expectations aren't always met. And I want to prevent any other adults from making the same mistake I did in taking my business there!
