These guys and gals are great. The milling guys are helpful and always willing to mill whatever piece I bring in.

Placed 2 orders with Woodworkers Source. Both had issues. The first was an undersized board, but they made good on making it right. The second order was riddled with staples due to packaging. There were staples on the face of the boards, sides and ends. Customer service wasn't very helpful this time. They claim that the boards didn't have excessive damage and refused to replace the boards. Although i agree its not excessive damage, its about their claim for 100% satisfaction guarantee. read more

The crew over at woodworkers source are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable! They have a great selection of woods to chose from both in the store then in the back shop. Huge thank you to Mike for helping me and answering all of my questions. I described to him what I wanted to do (build thicker floating longer shelves for plants) and showed him what brackets I was working with and he walked me around and explained all my options and his recommendations and why he was recommending them so I learned a lot! Picked up my shelves today which they were helpful to cut to size and run the sander over them for me. The store guys helped me pick out the best stain for the project. They helped us in our selection and decision to use 8/4 walnut for 2 countertops and an island for our kitchen remodel. Woodworkers Source is a great local shop to buy wood. My husband's hobby is to make various wood-projects ... at least 1 or 2 pieces a year and this is the shop he frequents. They have the "standard" woods but also more exotic woods such as zebra wood, purple heart, etc. Very pretty in person! I've gone in a few times with my husband to look through their selections; all wood-types are kept stocked up and the shop is organized. It's my understanding that they sometimes swap out woods for other ones (not sure or maybe they're not available all the time?) but with the amount of choices, he always finds what he needs. If you ask, they do help with cutting down big boards to smaller pieces. I'm not too familiar with prices but my husband said they're pretty reasonable! I stopped into woodworker source today and had a very pleasant first experience. All the staff were very helpful. I was looking to make a charcuterie board white elephant gift. This was my first time there. I walked in and there was a couple of customers. I looked around a bit and not one employee said a word to me. I came back around to the front where the employees were just talking. I walked around and left. Pretty rude if you ask me. Either you have to be a regular or with tits to get some attention and help. I'm not gonna drive 45 minutes again that's for sure!! But they did have a great selection of lumber! I don't like to leave bad reviews cause everyone can have a bad day, however employee Lombardo was incredibly rude in both occasions of dealing with him. When I called to check status on an order, he adamantly insisted that I had been called multiple times and needed to check my voice mail. Nobody had called or left a voice mail. I mentioned it to him today when I picked it up and he again insisted they had called and when I told him he was being rude, he stared at me as if he wanted to fight?!? I've never experienced anything like this. Fortunately I called and spoke to the store manager Corey who apologized and was very pleasant. While I love this store, I won't be back if he is who I have to deal with. read more

Used to be a favorite spot for my woodworking needs. Although since the management change, the store has constantly gone down hill. Discontinued popular materials, over priced, repeatedly rearrange store to make it more "functional" which it is far from. Always a mess and employees seem "checked out". We bought some Baltic birch plywood 4x8 sheets, cut down to size. We have the guy directions, and he still cut it wrong... but he admitted it... and then got another sheet off the rack and cut it correctly the second time. Like any specialty wood store.... they have nice exotic wood, higher end tools and accessories, etc. Of course, the price will be higher than going to the big chain home improvement stores. read more

This is like a candy store for carpenters......wow, so much wood! And TONS of exotic woods! I'm not a wood worker, but my husband dabbles in projects....he was practically salivating! Even for me, it was fun! They had some really beautiful woods like purple heart and zebra wood, mahogany, mesquite (and other domestics) lots of woods from Africa....If this was a hobby for me, I think this would be the jackpot! They do have a shop in the back where you can recieve some assistance on your projects, and they do sell a few tools, though I would think the main purpose in coming here would be for their variety of wood. read more

I came here after having a horrible and unprofessional experience at Ace Hardware (the supervisor of the store quoted me on a project he undertook for me, where I was asked to pay up front without being given a receipt. He never delivered, and during the span of 30 days I was unable to contact him at the store level or on his personal number. They kept my money and did me dirty.) The workers here are knowledgeable and professional. The wood inventory has great quality and selection. Prices are great! Honest work. The store/shop was clean and well organized. Doug helped me out with a simple project that Ace failed me on. It was done in less than 10 minutes while I waited at the store. I'm very pleased with the professionalism and courtesy of the staff- great place and would highly recommend. I've purchased some wood in the past from them and from what I remember, they were helpful then. This time I needed some Baltic birch to work on a project and I decided to call them first to get some information. I got great help and my information on the phone to help me with my decision. Soon after I got on the road to get the materials and got help pretty much immediately. A few cuts had to be made to help me along and to fit it in my car. I figured it might be a little wait, but to my surprise I got helped with that also just about immediately. All the guys at this location were friendly, courteous and helpful. Their selection of woods is also very good and they run specials on various selections all the time. My husband and I are in here probably every other week and we always have an AMAZING experience!! Every person we talk to is incredibly knowledgeable (especially Brett and Greg!!), and they always have useful tips for whatever project we're working on. Their selection is always phenomenal (their variety of exotic woods is always a delight to look through!), the quality of their products is always on point, and the pricing is very fair - especially if you're part of the Rosewood club - $20 and worth every penny! I've been shopping at this location for the last several years, since I began woodworking. I'm relatively new to this whole world, and I can honestly say I've made significant progress due to the help and assistance of the staff here at Woodworker's Source. Every time I've been in, they're always incredibly helpful and resourceful, open to questions and genuinely seem to enjoy doing what they do. You always feel like you're a familiar face with the staff and the amount of combined knowledge amongst them is very impressive. I was patiently waiting to be helped he then turned and helped someone that came two people behind me. Funny thing is the person he ended up helping, he didn't have want he was looking for. First of all, I have been a loyal customer to Woodworkers Source for years. As a member of their rosewood club, I have spent thousands here. A couple weeks ago I had stopped by and picked up some red oak and a sheet of baltic birch. The wife had my truck that day and I needed the lumber roughly halved to fit in my vehicle, no big deal. I pulled my lumber and paid and when I pulled up around back I realized the baltic was about 2" too long to close the hatch on my vehicle. I went back in and asked if they could just run it down the table saw and take off a couple inches, nothing exact at all. (There is a sign in the shop that says 2 cuts on sheet goods, to fit in a vehicle are free.) I had already had him make a single rip to produce two 2.5'x5' sheets and just needed a cut perpendicular to drop the length to somewhere near 4'9". The man in the shop looked at me, frustrated and said "$15 minimum milling fee". I told him it would only be the second cut on that sheet and he didn't seem to care. Mind you, I just paid $45 for the sheet of wood (there was about $200 on my total bill that day) and had them cut it, it was my wood now. I had to pay $15 extra to get two inches ripped off or just leave it there after paying for it. I was completely blown away. I am used to their prices being high - I've been willing to pay since it's a reliable, convenient place, but this poor-service has me upset three weeks later. And it's not the labor fee that makes me so upset, I've actually paid them shop time in the past when I needed something done and didn't have the time to do it myself - it was the old man's attitude to me. Just a helpful hint, Woodworkers Source: It's better to go above and beyond and leave your customers thrilled than to pull an obviously short-sighted move like that. Hope that $15 was worth it, it'll be the last I spend there. From now on, I'll order from Spellman or shop at Timber in Mesa and recommend everyone else do the same. read more

I want to give special recognition to Marc, who has helped me several times and the last visit, was able to plane and sand 8 maple boards, to my specifications, in 10 minutes. I am new to wood working. I went in this business looking for wood for my first woodworking project. The gentleman at the front counter couldn't have been less enthusiastic about helping me through this process if he tried. I am very disappointed and truthfully, pissed off. I explained I was new and he clearly had no interest in shepherding me through this process. Didn't even ask me what I was going to build. This shop is one mile from my house.... however, I will not be returning. I've found a shop in Mesa that has been awesome. read more
