We had a BOGO coupon so we thought we'd give them a try. Went on a Sunday afternoon after church and the place wasn't too busy. Food was average and so was the service. We asked to have the french fries made crispy and the server said "no problem " So, when the fries came out they were far from crispy so we asked if they could make them crispier "no problem " was the reply. Filthy, Stuffy, and Overpriced, Woody's Barbecue was a total miss. The experience was ruined by filthy restrooms and poor ventilation, which left the air smoky and heavy. I always order the corn nuggets as I like that little sweet creamy goodness when I'm having BBQ. They were just right. I ordered the brisket while the Husby ordered the pulled pork. As you can see in the photos, the portions are generous. The cole slaw had no flavor; just seemed to be cabbage and ?maybe salad dressing, but no seasoning or vinegar flavor. We had lunch here after church. Took forever to get our food and there was nobody in the place but us and another couple. The fried okra was delicious and came out fast but our lunch orders took 30 min. The lunch plates were terrible. I had turkey with fries and beans. The garlic toast was burnt. The beans were so dark and tasted awful. Hubby had brisket with beans and mac and cheese. Brisket was just ok and the sides awful. When we decided to spend the day in Daytona Beach, I absolutely knew I had to stop in at Woody's. Back in the day, I loved going to Woody's and I especially loved the Brunswick Stew and the Sloppy Woody. We arrived and the place had been renovated since I'd been there last, more than 20 years ago. I glanced at the menu but I already knew what I wanted, but I was saddened and horrified to learn that the Brunswick Stew wasn't available. So I instead just ordered the Sloppy Woody ("A tangy combination of woody's secret sauce and bar-b-q pork piled high") and I got barbecue beans as my side. It arrived later and looked exactly as I remembered it. And it's certainly very sloppy. I enjoyed it a lot, although in the future, I'd probably grab a pulled pork or brisket sandwich, since it didn't really have much of a barbecue flavor. The beans were good, too. I kicked them up with a little of the table barbecue sauce and that really enhanced them. I enjoyed the plentiful pieces of meat in there, too. But I missed my Brunswick Stew! I'll have to return someday soon, hopefully less than 20 years from now. read more

This place has really GREAT BBQ! I had a delicious Prime Rib Sandwich, my sister had popcorn chicken, my brother had a BBQ Chicken Dinner and it was all delicious and so, so good! The drippings, or Au Jus Gravy is so good, I could drink it straight from a cup! Best BBQ that I had in a long time! The servers were really great...very attentive! Very disappointing. They were out of so much on there menu. No mashed potato's, sweet potatoes, no awesome squash, no Dr Pepper. The ribs were ok but the BBQ sauce tastes a lot like ketchup with Worcestershire sauce. I had the southern fried cat fish which was just frozen fish deep fried and was so greasy I couldn't eat them. Cafeteria grade. I ordered the Sloppy Woody sandwich and it was so greasy that the bottom bun of the sandwich was soggy, so I ate the top of the bun and the meat with a fork. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a can, almost like mashed new potatoes, and the gravy was the only thing that made them palatable. The Brunswick Stew was just chunks of beef and pork in canned vegetable soup. Everything but the mashed potatoes was dark orange, like fat that congeals on stews after they've been in the refrigerator overnight. It tasted vaguely of barbecue sauce. Woody's used to be my favorite barbecue in this area back when they had a location in Port Orange. I don't know what happened, but this isn't the quality I remember. read more

The baby back ribs were tender, flavorful, and fall apart, though not overly meaty. Husbands sweet potato fine (hard to mess up), my French fries were ok, nothing special. The fried corn was tender but a bit too greasy, but the big disappointment was the bread pudding, it was not sweet in the least, they completely forgot any caramel sauce, and it had bananas it! The bananas added no sweetness, they weren't really ripe, more like some bananas they needed to use. Save yourself some money and pass on the bread pudding. And, the service was agonizingly slow and disorganized. My first visit to Woody's Bar-B-Q this location is very well laid out and has an excellent and very attentive staff. You can smell the BBQ when you walk through the door, I must say I had some very high expectations but understanding there are a number of these restaurants in the surrounding area I just think it's tough to maintain the quality once you expand into multiple locations. iUnderstanding that there are (3) major BBQ restaurants chains in the area and I would rate Woody's number one over the other ones that start with a D and a S you know which ones I'm referring to if you've eaten BBQ in this part of Florida. The three star review should really be a three and a half star review but not quite a four so I rounded down. The restaurant wasn't as busy as I thought it might be but it was almost 8 PM but then again it's Saturday night so I don't know what's up. - Spare Ribs - A little on the small side as spare ribs go and a little chewy lots of smoke and they weren't right off the pit for sure but not bad. They get a 2.5/5 rating - Turkey - Hand Sliced which is one reason I decided to try it no machine sliced BBQ turkey this was a big plus and it was about 3/16" thick all white and moist I wish it had more smoke to it but it's the best BBQ turkey around that I've had a chance to try so far. The turkey gets a 4/5 rating - Smoked Sausage - This was the disappointment of the night I ate a few bites and just couldn't get around the flavor it reminded me of Jimmy Deans breakfast sausage in a casing and grilled. I can't recommend this it just seemed weird but if you must, try it and make up your own mind. It gets a 1/5 rating. - Green Beans - I will order a double order my next trip yes they are that good fresh tasting tender and cooked with a Southern flair to them I absolutely love them they get a 5/5 rating. - Cole Slaw - I wish it had been shredded instead of grated so fine but it had just enough dressing (I like it a little drier than most you might call it dry) it had great texture for grated cabbage and good flavor it gets a 3.5/5 rating. The sliced pork sandwich was very dry and bland and they did not think to include a container of bbq sauce without me requesting it. We were looking for some PALEO MEAT in Daytona and found it at Woodys. Wow. The ribs were so meaty and delicious - with no sauce, as we requested. We had sweet potatoes and green beans as well. The service was very friendly and fast. When you order ribs, you can get up to two (i think it's two, maybe three) more half racks for 5.99 (although they had a special of 3.99 when we were there).
