Too much sauce - I ended up washing off the sauce on some links because it was ridiculous. IT also tasted too much of vinegar. Cornbread was very old and so dry. They also gave me beans when I asked for greens. Beans were good but I didn't ask for them. Ended up throwing one of the meals out, it was all fat. Tossed a few of the pork ribs in the trash. I stopped by this BBQ spot while visiting from San Francisco after a recommendation from a friend who's an LA native, so I came in with pretty solid expectations. The service was just okay--staff weren't particularly attentive or welcoming, but not rude either. I usually prefer my BBQ without sauce so I can really taste the meat (grew up in Houston, so I'm a bit particular about that). I ordered a combo plate with rib tips, beef links, potato salad, and baked beans, with sauce on the side for an extra charge. Portion-wise, it felt a little heavy on the sauce compared to the amount of meat. The rib tips were cut somewhat unevenly, and the baked beans were pretty standard from a can. The potato salad was the highlight for me--definitely the most flavorful part of the meal. When I called to fix this issue, the cashier disputed my grievance and when I talked to the manager she proceeded to argue with me and talk down to me like I don't know what my preferences are. Not only is Woodys incompetent when it comes to serving people the food they ordered, but their representatives are extremely disrespectful and their manager has no idea what good business practice entails. Decided to give Woody's a try after coming from the airport out of town. It is a bit of an old timey, walk up drive thru window you order from. The staff were pretty straight forward and plain, no smiles or more than bare minimum. There is a small parking lot and it is located right on the corner of a busy street. There is a few picnic tables to eat at outside. They call your number and we did enjoy our meal outside. The food was just to our liking. I haven't had Woody's in years and I have been craving barbecue. I was in the area so I decided to give this location a try and I arrived right at 11 AM. Didn't have an issue with parking, but their parking lot is fairly small. I will say that the woman who took my order was very pleasant. I ordered the two meats and it came with two sides. I ordered rib ends and chicken. I really thought I would've gotten more chicken than ribs, but they gave me a hefty amount of ribs and only two pieces of chicken. It was absolutely delicious. Also, I got the spicy barbecue sauce and like I said absolutely delicious. The beans were also yummy as well as the potato salad. I was definitely satisfied and when I'm in the mood for barbecue, I will most certainly be back as far as the area is concerned from what I've experienced because I frequent a church up the street. It's fairly quiet not too much going on. I love Woody's! The atmosphere definitely depends on the location you go to, but I don't think any of them have a "bad" ambiance whatsoever. As far as the food, is there better bbq in LA? Yes. However, for the price, availability, and timely manner in which the food is ready, I'd say it's pretty hard to beat. I always get the three meat combo with double beans for my sides. For the price, twenty-something dollars for a meal I can eat over a span of two days, I'd say it's completely reasonable. I have also ventured out to their sides not offered with the combos, and can say that their Mac n cheese is IT! Super cheesy and packed with flavor. If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Woody's was completely unacceptable. Last week, they messed up my order and told me I could come back and have it remade. I returned as instructed, only to be told by a rude and unprofessional woman that they wouldn't honor what they previously said. To make matters worse, she was openly disrespectful not only to me but to her own staff. She actually told her worker that they would have to pay for remaking my order who is always so kind and respectful. The only reason I paid again was because I didn't want to see an employee punished for a mistake the business made. What makes this even more disappointing is that Woody's is a Black owned business. It's truly a shame to see a Black business operate this way with no accountability, no consistency, and no respect for its customers or employees. We should be lifting each other up, not tearing each other down with bad service and bad attitudes. The waitress Tina was very friendly and helpful she even told me I can mix the hot barbecue sauce to lighten the spice. Went to this establishment today and was very disappointed with what nasty ribs they gave me. I went around 12:10 I was the 3 rd person in line. They had the two Hispanic cooks fixing the orders, a man and a lady and young black boy taking the orders, with a help wanted sign in the window. I wonder why. I'm on my lunch break, and when I open my bag there were some skimpy dried out ribs. I didn't get no lunch special, I got 1/2 slab of pork ribs paying almost $20. The meat on the bone wasn't enough even for a child to eat. The ribs were very thin,barely any meat on the bone and I'm thinking it was ribs left over from earlierthis week. Being its 2 days before the 4th of July they are much busier then normal, the line is extremely long, they only have one cashier which makes the weight longer, I stood in line for a hour and a half. Its 4th of July and it's a long line to get bbq. While standing in line for an hour, I turn to my left and there is an elderly lady, hunched over on a walker. I said,, you shouldn't have to wait in this a line as you are elderly and have an impairment. She said " I don't want upset anyone." I said to her I will fight them as a joke. I go up and ask the young man (Maurice) if this elderly lady, hunched over on a walker could come to the window. His response "No, she can't cut other people and start a problem." I said, what is the policy or procedure for persons with disabilities? You know the ADA! She can sit inside and wait for the person she is in front of to get to the window and then get back in. I look and see that if she goes inside she in fact will not be able to see. I tell her what the young man said and she thanks me for trying. The long lines and slow service are another variable to consider. Apparently, the presence of law enforcement had had upset the fragile sensibilities of some patron. She kind of caused a disturbance but neverthless: The beef ribs aren't half bad. Like I said, they're extremely chewy. The ribs are sauced up to the brim to cover the lack of any meaningful seasoning or smokiness of the meats (or lackof thereof). the two beef ribs come with potato salad. i went to Woody Saturday afternoon to get my food for Super Bowl, i'm giving it two stars due to the fact that you could tell that arter was rushed if you can't pack a order nice don't do it at all I understand that it was busy yes but my sliced beef was thick slice not thinly spice tough and my rib tips were tough as well i ordered a small platter which was about $120 I believe!! That's not the issue, I just felt like the way they cut my meat was too big the chicken was cut funny as well this is why I always go to Philip's BBQ they were closed!!!Woody's always let me down I do means this with all my heart!!! this will be the last time.
